I really like this phone with the small bezels and premium construction, but I've heard around here that there aren't a lot of developers working on it. Is that still true? I thought the fact that it got the Pie developer preview would mean it would end up being pretty popular.
How is the support compared to the Mix 2? I realize its like seven months newer, is it just a matter of time? If there is a big difference I might consider switching.
We have Project Treble now and in the Telegram Group many people report that Benzo or ArrowOS AOSP Roms work Great and everything works beside Dual Camera and also @Bruno Martins is hard at work

Which CM13 rom do you prefer ? Nexus-fy or Team Superluminal ?
Team Superluminal IMO. Very active development and extra features exclusive to the Mi4c such as the duble tap to go back feature found in stock. They also made the Google camera working! Pretty cool guys.
TSL's Cyanogenmod, just because I haven't had time to play with that many other ROMs yet. No random reboots, no FCs...Everything's working butter smoothly. Probably one of the best (and most stable) custom ROM experiences I've ever had so far. It scored pretty well in Antutu benchmark, too (71355).
Hey guys..
I personally think that development for oneplus 6 has been slightly slow.
Official TWRP itself does not support MTP mode yet.
And surprisingly I quite like OxygenOS especially the Oneplus dialer and Notification shade/toggles icons and the fact that they are colored when turned on.
Is there any development on an OxygenOS based custom ROM that you know of?
and what would you prefer:
An OxygenOS based custom ROM
OR
AOSP/LineageOS based?
1. OnePlus 6 is still relatively new, give it some time
2. Since the 6 now uses the A/B partitions, it makes it a bit more challenging for developers, so again, be patient
3. I believe there are unofficial versions of TWRP out right now that support MTP (I could be wrong on this though)
4. There is unofficial Lineage if you want to give that a try, as well as Omni. There is are also a handful of OOS based ROMs available as well. You just have to give them a try and see which one you like best, as a lot of this is personal preference. I'm personally happy with stock OOS with root & Xposed
Blue spark twrp recovery supports mtp I've used it
The Snapdragon 845 sources were only released a week or two ago. Give it time. Then there's the A/B partition which makes it a bit more difficult.

would be awesome to get AOSP rom but not extremely laggy LineageOS which never works properly on any device.
Also, oneplus should have done AOSP rom out of the box !!
all software from oneplus must be come with open source as well as from Google !!

oneplus 7pro is so much better than oneplus 6,
I'm really happy with it so far.
that notch on oneplus 6 is absolutely annoying trash,
I hate everyone who are responsible for this idiotic idea !
and oneplus 8pro seems to be worse due to retarded front camera hole !!
such a stupid design !!
I'm waiting for under the screen camera.
oneplus 7pro still has a huge bezel on the bottom, such a waste of space !!
I wish they will finally will start making phones with only display on the front side of the phone, without retarded notches, holes, and bezels !!
.
Just checked the list of devices receiving the Android 12 update with OneUI 4 and our beloved Galaxy A20 is nowhere to be seen. Since the A20 already got 2 major updates the possibility of Samsung putting any effort to surprise users is very low.
Multiple security updates are yet to come but any OS updates is highly unlikely.
What are your thoughts? Which custom rom are you going to prefer if any?
Edit : OneUI 4.1 ROM is now available for A205X. OneUI 5.1 is in beta.
I noticed Eureka are releasing a lot of Android 12 ROMS lately. There's:
LighthouseOS
PixelPlusUI
crDroid
ProjectArcana
SuperiorOS
AospExtended
evolution
Arrow
I haven't installed any yet because I don't really want to move from OS 11 to 12 at this time.

I've been following Eureka Team on Telegram for quite some time now. Almost all the Android S ROMs are test builds. Some common features and settings are missing. Those who implemented the features are broken in many areas.
Android 12 has impressed me with it's performance so far. It's noticeably faster than any Android R ROMs I've used.
Fingers crossed, I have a lot of hope in Eureka.

What ROM are you running now? Is there one you would recommend?
I'm using the Stock ROM - June update. Basically removed the features considered useless, installed Eureka and called it a day. Tried hKtweaks but it just makes the phone unstable.
Project Sakura is what stayed on my phone for the longest time. UI might look less uniform at times but does the job.
Custom ROMs are a mere hobby for me. If A20 is your daily driver then I won't recommend using any custom rom at all. voLTE is broken in all all of them. But I still try every ROM that comes out.
-------------------------
Exceptions of voLTE bug are the modded OneUI ROMs, basically debloated stock ROMs which you could simply do by rooting, no need to waste data for just more broken features.
Hi, I like the phone but also I want to put some tweaks like 90hz display, custom roms, pixel 6 camera features(motion mode), kernels...
will we see a lot of development as in the xiaomi poco f1 or not?
thank you
If you have a Xaomi, i recommend keeping it a little longer. Roms for this devive are in a weird situation because the only 2 stable ones are calyx and graphene which arevboth great, but they are both very barebones and kind of difficult if you aren't experienced with degoogling

thank you, but with the same cpu as pixel 6 and 6 pro, it will be easy to port roms from pixel 6?

Yes, adding Bluejay is possible. Whether developers choose to do it is another question.
Velocity will be ready for public release soon. I'm just buttoning up a few more things.
I noticed with the phones I've own, custom ROM seem to get me frequent as the phone gets older and the stock rom releases begin to vaporize. If the phone has enuff hardware power n memory AND there's no more factory support (as in many older midrange Motos). The Moto G5+ and G5S+ had active 'post' communities as did the G6...I got a G7 cuz of 4gb memory figured it'd be a big post EOL project/rom phone BUT I missed the fact that moto was following google with the whole dynamic update w/ dual A/B slots which killed our beloved TWRP custom recovery and nandrive image backup.
BUT is u weren't into rooting/tweaking then that explains why Android Police named it the #1 phone for running LOS! Esp. after Moto released thr Android 10 kernel source code!! This is the main reason I didn't sell/trade it off...and ofc my wife put one of those sky-blue 2pc cases from Poetic and claimed it! lol
Seems custom rom is on the way?(Is any developers take interest on it?š„¹

Over a year since the code was released for the 12 pro and nothing.
The source codes are incomplete for some devices (Confirm by devs I contacted)and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen can also be a problem because no rom also for Samsung or One Plus.

I could not found any AOSP based ROM for Snapdragon 8Gen1/2. So keep using my OnePlus 9 Pro x Evolution X. (and miss my hard bricked Pixel 6 Pro )

Perhaps those other phones simply don't have developers to volunteer their time. I am eventually lumbering my way towards ROM development and am interested in the hardware of the 13.
Coming from a Snapdragon 870 (Poco F3, still solid) that has a host of other custom ROMs for me to practice with.

I personally have an X3 pro, a bit less solid and I'd like an amoled screen
But i'm afraid I'd would be disappointed if i switched, coming from a phone with so much roms (I even have installed windows 11 on it)
Actual Windows 11?! Or is it a home screen replacement for android?

Yeah actual Windows 11 for Arm64, I've also installed it on my one plus 6. It's available for a few android devices : https://renegade-project.tech/en/state
There has been some work for poco f3 as well i think
Xiaomi Shows No Interest in Releasing Kernel Source Code of its Devices
Xiaomi is having a good time in all the smartphone markets over the world releasing numerous devices. It is popular for producing budget-friendly phones. It has a great user base in the Indian marketā¦

but
newer platforms all use GKI, which means it's identical between devices, even if the SoC vendors are different.
Not sure that they are obliged to release source codes for vendor kernel modules, those are proprietary.

I will never understand why people ask for AOSP roms so much. Google's material you aesthetic is horrible, and customization is sorely lacking. The best of xiaomi is MIUI.

Its a matter of taste.
I also 'hated' miui 11/12 back in the years, but after i tried miui14 now on x13 i must admit, that pretty much good and fluid UI now. I like it now.

One of the main advantages, not to mention the additional settings, is that you can use an Android version that is no longer provided by Xiaomi.
For customization from A12, it's ugly.
