I've noticed that Android 5.0 allows to change many system settings (enable/disable WiFi/BlueTooth/Autorotate/etc) on its Lock Screen without entering any password.
I hate this liberty.
Does anyone have any idea how to disable this feature?
I cannot find anything in settings.

I too cannot believe this was left as a feature... I was hoping that would be fixed in the final version.
Bump.
This is actually a security issue.

I agree but there's nothing in android. 3rd party lock screen is the only way.
a fix for this would be good, as anyone can just pick up your phone and change any of the quick settings without unlocking it.
So you would not be able to track the phone if it got nicked and someone just stuck it in airplane mode!

does it matter if airplane mode is in quick settings or the main setting? if they want to steal your phone and put it into airplane mode, they will do it regardless if its in quick settings or the main settings. its stuff that you yourself use often that will appear in quick settings. i personally think its a great feature.

But they should not be able to do it while the phone is locked. At very least we should have the option of what should be accessible without unlocking the phone.

even if they were not in the quick settings, you can still pull down the notification bar while in the lockscreen, and go into the main settings. so, everything there is available to any thief.

If i do that it prompts to unlock the phone
Heck, I'm not even worried about the security situation with this, I just want to disable it because I think it is extremely poorly executed!
It offers nothing that power toggles doesn't, and is not even configurable for what options are present. I never use auto-rotate, cast screen, invert colors, etc, and yet, those options are available instantly!

They can also just remove the sim card or turn it off.
What I am looking for, is for the only possible thing you can do, while the phone is locked, is enter the password. Is there a way to set that up? Not be able to toggle any settings at all or remove the quick settings(I am ok with the emergency calling and camera widget, since you can't access the pictures on the phone until entering the password). I know they could still remove the sim or power off the phone but at least it might buy some more time if your phone gets stolen for you to track it or snap a pic of the thief. It would be nice if you could also disable the power menu and volume buttons while on the lock screen.
For now, until other solution is found or developed, you can go to notification settings and in 'When device is locked' change the setting to 'Hide sensitive notification content'. This disables access to quick settings from the lock screen but also hides titles of notifications, so you will see the notifications for emails, texts etc., but their content will be hidden.
This doesn't work. Well, if you have root and xposed you can install "Advanced Power Menu" to control the power menu on lockscreen etc and with GravityBox you can control the items on the quick settings. But I still couldn't figure out a way to totally disable it on the lockscreen.
As I remember the "X posed" Module "Notification Mod" could do exactly this. Problem is: It seems that development is discontinued and the stable ver1.2 doesn't (on my lollipop custom rom) work on 5.x

I am seeing this in my new Samsung S7 edge... with finger print and password lock.... it is not there on S5 with finger print and password lock... its a silly feature... why would they turn it on ? My son just put my phone in airplane mode accidentaly.... and I kept wondering why no messages and calls for the whole weekend.... hate to think what it would be like if it happened to someone who was say, on a on-call emergency personnel or something like that.... no one would be able to reach out to them.... I guess now have to keep checking my phone every hour.... hahahaha... or maybe go back to using my S5.. if someone has a solution to this pls share... appreciate it.
No way to disable access to quiick settings on lock screen on unrooted Android M....
Try the Market anyway,
One solution for me on Android 6.01 was to disable WiFi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Mobile Data from Quick Settings using Systen UI Tuner in Settings then downloaded Settings Extended app at the Market and moved all mentioned in SE's Notification Shortcut. Don't forget to enable "HIDE LOCK SCREEN NOTIFICATION" in Preferences which is the objective of all this anyway. So don't forget to click this.
You can even disable everything in Quick Settings and instead put them all in SE Notification as Shortcuts. What's great about SE is that its Notification gets the icon color/shade/background color/color when toggled etc. perfectly in Android 6. Exactly the same. It looks like its really part of the Notification Screen except that there's that horizontal gap that separates the notifications and makes the screen fiddle faddle.
Try it anyway. It might be your only hope against lock screen vulnerability in unrooted Android 6.0 phones.

I have the same problem with my S7. Its weird that you cant change the wifi or bluetooth without unlocking the phone but when you select mobile data or airplane mode you can turn that off from the lockscreen so when your phone gets stolen, the thief can so easy turn that off that there is no way to trace your phone. Why do they even call this a smart phone while its so dumb?

I must apologise first, I’m not a nerdy-head about android, but I was thinking about my new phone (upgraded to A7) and your question is one that I sought out for answers.
In Nougat, I logged in as Guest and used a pin for the user so that a ‘guest’ can’t access the Guest account without my permission.
Then comes you’re question.
You can remove all the worrisome quick start icons from your quick settings (probably leave flashlight). Then use a 3rd party app (Notification Toggle is mine) which isn’t available to a user from a protected login.
As I’ve never had a lollypop viable phone I’m afraid another user might need to help you with a more detailed method for A5.
Hope it helps somewhat. As an old 8080 machine code programmer, it was always about solving problems and then working the bugs out. I'm not even sure how to post on these - socially thingy’s.
This issue it's still there in Nougat, so before it is passed on to Android O, we have to POPULARIZE this issue so they(Android developers) know how big of a pain in the ass it is. I'm posting the complaints to every forum, magazine, fan page, etc. When it's on the social media, they have to do something. This issue has survived because people don't want their friends to know about it, coz it's partly embarrassing...
Your phone is on a plane surface and you want to see the time? Bored to search a button for turn on/off the screen? Do you want to preserve the home/power key? Try AirOn!
Designed in material design, AirOn allow you to turn on/off the screen covering the proximity sensor, then uncovering and covering it again (default config).
There is also a special mode for flip covers, that allow you to turn on the screen when the cover is opened, off otherwise.
Please, note that when the service is running, a notification will be displayed, in order to ensure that the process is not killed by the system. If you don't like the notification, disable it in settings-app-airon, then unchecked "show notification".
If you want more customization, buy the premium key and unlock these features:
- Vibration settings: choose a vibration strenght when turn on/off the screen with AirOn;
- Detection strategy: set the number of detections of the proximity sensor required for turn on/off the screen;
- Speech: activate the time pronunciation when the screen is turned on.
If you want to try it, search AirOn on Google Play!
Added 1x1 homescreen widget for start/stop the service.
Thanks for this interesting app.
Does this mean that the proximity sensor is always activated?
What is the impact on battery usage?

Hi. If you enable flip cover mode or turn off, yes, the proximity sensor is always on, otherwise is on when the screen is turned off. Anyway, I have tested this app in various devices (note 4, s5, s2, note 2, nexus 5...) and it doesn't appear in the battery section. This means that battery consumation is >1%. A lot of users confirm this trend, except one.

You'll probably need to deactivate under Settings/General/Settings/Device Administrator first.

For allow you to turn off the screen, this app must have administrator permission. So, if you want uninstall it, you must remove this permission you can do this through the app, simply turn off each mode that allow you to turn off the screen (flip cover and turn off switch). Anyway, paid version is a key, so you must have both installed!

This works better than Samsung's built in function. The best part is I used it all day and it doesn't use barely any battery. <1%.
Really useful function, very nice.

I'm glad you like it! I'm working for the next update: I want add the possibility to select apps to exclude from turn off feature.
Been trying it out for a couple of hrs. Works so well i bought the pro version! U know what would be really cool? To be able to access a certain app (for example camera) by a series of cover movements.

So i have the device, and i have to admit, its one of the best devices that i have used since the (passed away) note7..
Now, one of the best features, that most of you who will get the device soon will notice, is the edge notification, which is a samsung designed minimal popup notification (peek preview).. You can easily Google it and you will know what am talking about. (just Google s8 edge notification)
Something doesn't add up, and i was hoping for someone now or in the near future to find a solution to it. This kind of notification supports third party applications (supports some of what am using), however, taking whatsapp as an example, when you enable the edge notification for always (both when screen is on and while on AOD) it works while the screen is on perfectly, but doesn't work while on AOD. Please note that from testing, this feature is working with few third party apps on the AOD.
I did few testings, the only way to make this minimal edge notification work for whatsapp while on AOD is to enable the pop-up notification in the app, but that will mean once you unlock the device, the pop up of whatsapp (app pop-up) will show up immediately and thats not what i want (very annoying).. I would like to add that i dont need to enable the whatsapp in app popup for edge notification to work while the screen is on.
Am not sure if there is a way of fixing this, but i thought i would put it here for other users to check it out and give us a feedback or a solution (it might be only me, you never know).
In advance, coz i know i will get this question, i got the device officially since few days coz i was an early bird in pre booking (UAE-Dubai) only 300 devices (or so) where officially released for early birds.. The rest will get it by 18th or 19th..

Yesterday the device received an update, included an update for the AOD, and so far, third party apps are now longer working as a popup while on AOD, will keep monitoring and will update here once i find an app that works (third party apps)..
Things that we need to consider when trying to understand why this is happening:
1- when u enabled the popup (in whatsapp app itself), then it works with the minimal samsung style while on AOD (could have something to do with the AOD reading notification in this case)
2- allll third party apps DO work with samsung style popup while the screen is on, means the AOD is actually able to read that notification and display it (convert it) to Samsung style, why don't samsung make that functional for 3rd party apps while on AOD.. Strange, though the option is there and enabled in the edge notification settings, and u have the choice to enable it for screen on only, AOD only, or both..
My hope is that in the near future, samsung will improve that.. An update maybe (crossing fingers)..
The pop-up like whatsapp does it is what is needed - I am tweaking my app *Augmented smartwatch Pro) to add this support. I will post a link to APK here. It is effectively a proxy app for notifications and it works for all apps! I will post a free version ( I sell it in app store). Now if I could only change the colour of the light

Here is the https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/101388531/app-release.apk
For whatsapp you need to do the following for whatsapp (will work for any 3rd party app if you enable)
enable notification access for augmentedsmartwatchpro (lock screen -> other security settings -> notification access) in samsung settings
in augmented smartwatch (ASP) enable in preferences
phone options -> show notifications on phone -> set to text view
optimized notifications -> enable whatsapp
that's it. it should work (only when screen is off). note AOD is not needed to be enabled. The pop up by ASP automatically disappears after @ 5 seconds (so when you turn on the phone it is gone). No need to set this in whatsapp!
Yes the app is complex - and it does much more
let me know if you get it to work!
Adrian
PS - yes I know it is a paid app on market - but this version I have not updated to market - it is optimized for Android 7 and fixes a lot of bugs - so consider this informal beta testing
PPS - for those that have concerns I have developed this app over the past few years before smart watches were popular. Nothing is sent to the cloud (unless you enable pushover for going tablet to phone). I take privacy and security very seriously. Also in this version there is Tesla support - one day I will update my blog ....

Yes the only way to trigger the pop up is to show one (which automatically goes away after 4 seconds).
For FB Messenger - it needs to be enabled under All other notifications -> messenger and enable it.
It seems to work for me but it is not "optimized' to eliminate non-messages like I do for whatsapp, but you can manually apply global filters to filter out.

Note it will only work if the screen is OFF (not on). AOD can be enabled or disabled.
If it still doesn't work - can you download the updated version and open the app and post what the screen shows - it should confirms things are configured correctly.

I would add that whatsapp edge lighting would work with message popup, but even with that, edge lighting would not work if the phone was off and turned over screen facing down, it has nothing to do with proximity sensor, it just needs the phone to be tilted a little to work.
Other edge lighting apps like Viber works well with all scenarios.
Hello ! Did you ever figure out how to fix this issue ? I just got the samsung S9+ and I am not happy with this very same issue. My whatsapp is set to "pop up only when screen is off" on AOD the edge lighting works fine, but when I go to unlock my screen the pop message shows. So very annoying !

I don't think anyone figured out a solution, this has been my experience with the same problem with s8+, Note8 and s9+..
I wrote a little app for myself which turns the fingerprint sensor on Galaxy S7 Edge into a capacitive Home button - so you don't need to press the button physically, just touch it like a sensoric button. There are already similar apps on the Play Store, however none of them have an option to quickly enable/disable the service via Quick Settings custom tile (Android 7+ feature). It's a useful feature, because if you need to authenticate with your fingerprint in any app, it's needed to disable the service temporary.
App service runs in foreground thus there is a persistent notification placed in the notification bar. You can quickly pause/disable the service from this notification, or better use the Quick Settings custom tile. If you don't like the persistent notification, just hold you finger on the notification - notification setting will be opened and you can disable it (notification will be hidden but app still works fine).
Android 7+ is required, I'm using the app for several days already and there were no issues and no battery impact. I recommend to exclude the app from battery saving options to prevent it being killed by the system.
This app rely on Samsung SDK so it will probably work only on official or modified official firmware.
Don't forget to register at least one fingeprint in system settings, otherwise the app may not work.
Source code is available here: https://sourceforge.net/p/fingertouchapp/code/ci/master/tree/
UPDATED on 2017-05-18:
New version v1.2.5:
- fixed crash when Fingertouch service is killed by system
v1.2.4:
- added check if at least one fingerprint is registered in the device
- notification bar is now closed on home button touch
- main screen is now scrollable (in case you use large system font)
v1.2.3:
- added option to start on boot
- added option to change the touch delay (useful if you use Samsung 'double tap' camera feature)
Get it for free on PLAY STORE
There is also PRO version if you wish to donate, it includes app whitelist and long touch function. PRO version has ability to disable itself automatically (for 4 seconds) when fingerprint authorization is requested in other apps. So you don't even need to use whitelist and you have 4 seconds to authorize with your fingerprint in any app after the request is made.
Uninstall the previous version 1.2.2 before installing 1.2.3!
Thank you! This works great so far!
Thank you very much for this, working as described. I'm planning on using this for a day and reporting on battery use, what has been your experience? Also, for anyone wondering, this does not affect the lockscreen fingerprint to unlock. Double tapping to open the camera does not work though. Great app to extend the life of the home button.
Edit: no noticeable difference in battery after several days use. Thank you for your great work
Works like a charm. Greate work dude.

Yes it sometimes vibrates on very short/light touch, unfortunately it's Samsung SDK thing and I can't do anything about it. I don't like it as well
Regarding the question about battery, I haven't seen this app in Android battery usage list, so I would say it has neglible efect. But I have very good SOT overall (8+ hours).

I don't plan to add other features as I don't need/use them, including double tap camera. I would recommend you to try other similar apps on Play Store which have additional features, for example "easyHome" or "HomeTouch".
That's a really pity then... I like the concept, I would even donate for it.
The HomeTouch you have proposed seems to work with Doubletouch even with lite version still some additional functionality I have proposed would add additional value to your app, on top of current one like Quick panel and nice and clean design. Anyway, probably that is not your goal so thank you for sharing anyway.
Neat!
Really love the lightweight apk. Double tap camera would be the icing on the cake but i can live without kit. Good work!

Wow that vibration feedback is rather annoying
Working pretty good over here on stock Verizon non rooted..
My double tap to launch camera is working with zero issues coming from inside different apps, or even from AOD and lock screen..
The thing that I did notice right away while I was testing was although everything is working okay for me, the only thing I haven't been able to execute is clearing the notification pull down with a capacitive home button touch, once it's pulled down completely.. In order for me to get rid of the pull down is to actually press on home key.. Not an issue for me but it seemed a little odd..
Thanks for this!! Super useful for me
One of the best apps I have ever used! Thanks friend! Keep up the great work!
Better tiles mod allows you to break out the internet tile in quick tiles to have both wifi and mobile data toggles. Has anyone tried this mod on P7 or P7P?
Works fine on my device so far.
My P7P hasn't arrived yet, but on my current Pixel 3XL, this adb command will give you back the seperate Wifi and Mobile data tilles:
Code:
adb -d shell settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles),wifi,cell"
I just keep it in a shell script with a bunch of other commands and run it on-device with shizuku/rish permissions.
Has anyone tried this with P7P?

Which one, Better tiles mod or adb -d shell settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles),wifi,cell" ?
I have better tiles working on my P7P. Rooted
I've been using the Better Internet Tiles app on the Pixel 7 Pro, and the 6 Pro before that.

Agreed. found that, using now.
I rather not have an extra app to enable a single feature and hence use this module instead:

The app provides other features as well, it is available via the Play Store (for those of us who consider that a plus) - so it's automatically updated, and you can optionally set the app-supplied Wi-Fi/mobile data/Internet/NFC tiles (all enabled or disabled individually) to require the phone to be unlocked in order to toggle them, which is a plus because if my phone is stolen (although I doubt that'll ever happen), I don't want them to be able to toggle those.
The Play Store entry even has an optional Beta program available if wanted.
I also have the Classic Power Menu Lsposed-mod/app set to not allow power off or reboot from the lock screen.
Of course, they can still long-press the power button (for a really long time now) to force it off, but the fewer choices they potentially have, the better.

Better Tiles is what I have and confirm working. I added the WiFi tile and Mobile Data tile. Did not try the other 2.
