I've looked through the options but don't see a way to manually select image quality? Is that not an option on the stock camera app?

You can only select 48mp in pro mode,You can also choose 16:9 ,4:3 which changes the resolution
IF you choose the "Pro mode" in the camera app, you'll be able to select 48mgpxls resolution, but no other possibility to choose other resolutions beside this one unfortunately
Hmm. Ok. I need to take some pics to send but they have to be 2mb or less. Any recommendations on another camera app that can do that?

is there a photo viewer that will read 100% of the quality from a >10 megapixel jpg?
most viewers out there top out before and omit the remaining details so the picture quality on screen is below that of the actual picture.
Just pictures allows you to display at original resolution, need to tweak the settings and choose original file size as the option

I use quickpic on my Evo. It doesn't do online accounts like Facebook and Flickr, but I believe it shows you the high res image. Also, it's registered as a gallery app, so you can set it to open pictures by default. Just pictures doesn't do that for some reason. It's very fast and light weight.
just pictures just fails on the large megapixel pictures when "original resolution" is selected.
try Large Image Viewer..it's still a bit buggy but generally works.
I have found QuickPic to be te best on the larger screens. Just wish it could link to my Picasa account.

I don't know how you have it working, but it doesn't even launch on my Transformer.

Quickpic seems good but it doesn't show the level of zoom, so it's impossible to be sure when 100% has been reached.
I have searched and followed the directions I have found, but I don't have the "done" option after cropping a picture...only a save option. Am I missing something? Can my personal images even be used?
By directions, do you mean
1. Long pressing on blank space on homescreen (stock touchwiz launcher) and selecting Lock Screen?
2. Going to settings>wallpaper>lockscreen?
When you do either one of them, an option should popup to take a photo from the gallery or another application. If you select gallery, you should be presented with most, if not all, the photos on your phone. If you select it, you may be asked to crop it and then in the upper rightmost of the screen, "Done" should be written. Hit that.
Are you following different instructions (not word for word)?
I get all the way to the cropping part and then the only option I have is to save the image.

right, so hit save at that point
When I click save, it sends me back to my home screen! lol
I just tried with Quickpic and when I save the image using that app, it flashes and shows the same screen I had right before I clicked save. It does produce another image, but isn't saved as a lockscreen wallpaper even though that is what I selected.
Has anyone else had this problem or is this simply an error on my part somewhere?
Settings > Wallpaper > Lockscreen
After you hit lockscreen, choose Gallery, then choose whatever pic you wish to use. Crop the picture how you wish, then hit 'Save' in the upper-right and corner. *Hitting save DOES NOT save the picture in gallery, it only saves the picture you crop as your wallpaper!*
Only mine isn't saving it as a lockscreen wallpaper
Let me try is as a homescreen wallpaper....even though I want it as a lockscreen one.
Of course it worked as a homescreen!
BUT....I want it on my lockscreen. lol

....I did it that way first.
Thank you all for trying to help. If it worked for everyone else, I must have a setting different somewhere. Or extreme user error. lol
I finally just uninstalled QuickPic and it worked. It seems QuickPic was taking over for the Gallery.
You must have selected Quick Pic as the default app somewhere along the way.

Thanks man.. That's been a problem for me since I had a note 2. ?
What exactly is this supposed to be used for ?
It appears to me to be nothing more than a camera app? It opens the shutter, allows for flash or no flash, focus, then capture.
Not understanding this as I thought it was a function to enlarge the screen ?

It takes extreme close up pictures and focuses more than the normal camera can
It's their to make things that you are unable to read readable
Can somebody check this out for me?
When I take a burst of photos with the built in app, when reviewing the burst, I can scroll through all the photos. But, in my photo list it shows as one and shares as one photo (the main one).
I see no options in or outside of the burst to save all photos.

I use the HTC gallery and when I open up the burst shot all images are separated as individual pics. But I also see no way to separate them in Google photo app

I found it by searching apk mirror HTC gallery. I'm using gallery version 9.51.755029 download and install from your internal storage
Am I the only one taking bursts?

With Google Photos, I can only share the pic designated as the main photo (the thumbnail with the white dot on top). Can't figure out how to split the burst shots separately.
With HTC Gallery v.9.51.744639, the burst shots are automatically separated.
