Changing the lock screen to a camera image. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I have searched and followed the directions I have found, but I don't have the "done" option after cropping a picture...only a save option. Am I missing something? Can my personal images even be used?

By directions, do you mean
1. Long pressing on blank space on homescreen (stock touchwiz launcher) and selecting Lock Screen?
2. Going to settings>wallpaper>lockscreen?
When you do either one of them, an option should popup to take a photo from the gallery or another application. If you select gallery, you should be presented with most, if not all, the photos on your phone. If you select it, you may be asked to crop it and then in the upper rightmost of the screen, "Done" should be written. Hit that.
Are you following different instructions (not word for word)?

I get all the way to the cropping part and then the only option I have is to save the image.

right, so hit save at that point

When I click save, it sends me back to my home screen! lol

I just tried with Quickpic and when I save the image using that app, it flashes and shows the same screen I had right before I clicked save. It does produce another image, but isn't saved as a lockscreen wallpaper even though that is what I selected.
Has anyone else had this problem or is this simply an error on my part somewhere?

Settings > Wallpaper > Lockscreen
After you hit lockscreen, choose Gallery, then choose whatever pic you wish to use. Crop the picture how you wish, then hit 'Save' in the upper-right and corner. *Hitting save DOES NOT save the picture in gallery, it only saves the picture you crop as your wallpaper!*

Only mine isn't saving it as a lockscreen wallpaper
Let me try is as a homescreen wallpaper....even though I want it as a lockscreen one.

Of course it worked as a homescreen!
BUT....I want it on my lockscreen. lol

....I did it that way first.
Thank you all for trying to help. If it worked for everyone else, I must have a setting different somewhere. Or extreme user error. lol

I finally just uninstalled QuickPic and it worked. It seems QuickPic was taking over for the Gallery.

You must have selected Quick Pic as the default app somewhere along the way.

Only live wallpaper working?

Rooted at 6.2.1. Followed the standard directions to lock the wallpaper:
Open Root Explorer
Navigate to data/data/com.Android.settings/files/wallpaper
Long press on wallpaper, select permissions from the menu that drops down.
Uncheck the "write" permission for all users then click OK.
Live wallpapers work fine and stay in place. When I try to change the wallpaper to an image it does not work if I try it while rooted or unrooted. I go to wallpaper in the menu, select gallery, complete action using gallery, select the picture, save....and nothing, it does not become the wallpaper. Should I try a different app instead of gallery? Using Widgetlocker and that wallpaper works fine and I can change to what I want. Is some setting in that impacting this issue somehow? Thanks.
You have to go back into data/data or wherever it was located and restore the boxes that were unchecked so you can change the wallpaper..

Thanks, I did do that and it didn't work. Then I remembered reading someplace that you had to just keep trying it and it would work. Did that about five times and it finally worked! Strange that you would have to do that but what the hell, it works. Thanks again.
I had that problem too. Using the app "wallpaper set and save", solve it for me.

Quickpic issues

After moving some images from the camera to a new folder, the regular gallery app won't show them, just a triangle where the image should be. Also, I can't send these images in messages from quickpic. What can I do about this? They're all pics of my newborn son and everybody wants to see him!

did you try clearing quickpic's data and cache
I have a problem with Quickpic too - when I try to assign a picture to a contact - when you pick a picture, choose 'set as' and then try and assign a picture to a contact it just doesn't work. The picture to be assigned opens up with the margins to be set (edit mode), fades away for an instant and then comes back. When you set the margins and click the floppy disc icon (in the top right hand corner) to 'save' the picture the screen goes black and you have to exit the program. I'm fairly sure that this feature used to work fine up until recently. I've even gone as far as to do a factory reset on my phone, reflash my phone's ROM and reinstall the QuickPic app. No change though, I still can't set a contact picture.
Can anyone help? My phone is a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray.

[Q] Large black orb with blue ring on home screen?

Anyone know what that big black orb is in the upper-left hand corner of the home screen? (See screenshot) And, more importantly, how do I get rid of it? When I tap it, nothing happens, when I hold to drag it off the screen, I get prompted to change the wallpaper. This is on CyanogenMod 10.
Thanks
That is the icon for a folder. Don't know what's going on specifically in your device though. Might want to clear data of that launcher or try a new launcher altogether

Hmm, looked in the Launcher settings, didn't see an option to clear. Do you know where I can find that? Alternatively, is it a folder that I could simply delete on the fiesystem somewhere?

Lol, I meant go into apps in the system settings, go the launcher you are using, and clear data. This will wipe all apps from the home screen so you have to set it up again, but should probably fix the problem.
This is definitely an app bug, so once again you can also install an alternative launcher such as Apex

Thanks, that did it - cleared cache for Trebuchet

Help with gallery

I use wallpaper wizadrii for my background images. However I noticed that all my pics come up sideways if I had taken the pic while holding the phone portrait. Does this mean I have to take l my pics landscape style? I sure hope not. Including use my phone a lot to take pictures.

No you don't have to take the pictures in landscape mode in fact you can rotate the pictures pretty easily.
1. Open gallery and navigate to where the pictures are that you want to rotate.
2. Hit the physical menu button on your phone then chose the "Select item" option
3. Select the pictures you want to rotate
4. Then tap the options button in the top of the far right hand corner
5. Select "Rotate left" or "Rotate Right"
6. Repeat steps 3-5 if you want to rotate the pictures again (For example rotate the pictures another 90 degrees to the left or right)
Hope this helps .
That helps a ton. I knew that I could rotate them in gallery. The weird thing is that they are the correct way in the gallery. But when I open wall paper wizardrii the ones that I took are all on their sides.
I appreciate your help.

Try going into gallery without accessing the wallpaper wizard first, then finding the correctly rotated picture you want and selecting the "Set picture as" option, then selecting either "Home screen wallpaper" or Home and lock screens" or "Lock screen wallpaper".

[Q] Custome homescreen for touch wiz ?

Ok so i did a little research and nothing so far. I have a picture that i want to make my homescreen. I want to make it not have scroll but every app i found just blows it up and just centers the picture. i saw something about modded touch wiz but im hoping to find a easier way because honestly im on the run. I just want the image to be cropped to fit with no scroll.
Any help?
Try this app. It caused no excessive battery drain and it made it easy to set walls the way I wanted to. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cellophanesoftware.superwalllite
Also, you could download picspeed wallpaper app. It offers the ability to set a wall through the gallery using it and you can choose portrait mode. See screenshots. In the first pic, you'll select the 2nd option from the bottom. In the 2nd pic, you'll select the highlighted box on the left under the pic for portrait mode.
Good luck, let me know of any questions.

Picspeed is this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.srsdev.wallpapers
The first one is a live wallpaper app, it will only show up if you select live wallpaper option. This is the reason I mentioned the piece about the minimal battery drain when using it. Go with Picspeed and see if it works for you first though. You may also have to use a 3rd party gallery to select the photo before setting it as your wall. I use quickpic cause it's fast. I just open quickpic, navigate to the photo I want, press menu soft key, select set as, select the option shown above in the pic, and boom! Works every time.
