Yeah, there is such poll already but this one should make more clear about this situation
Im at gm1910 come from HOS to OOS through twrp. i tried stock, smurf, kirisakura, elementalx kernels - deadlocks happens all over them.

as thread name states - yes
Some users are reporting it's because of the mq scheduler option in Smurf Kernel, and going back to sq solves this.
I flashed Smurf this morning and set mine to sq and it's been a few hours with no issues so far.
Haven't experienced this on EX or Kirisakura.

No other circumstances that trigger it?
As previous post stated could be scheduler issue
I had the same issue when I tried changing a few flags in CPUset
I was on a custom kernel also
Never happened on stock
there was not long ago post at smurf topic, someone thought same but at last io didnt help either

Turn io_mq to off didn't work for you?
Never had it on OOS + SkyDragon kernel. Since I got the phone.
I still have SoD issue, I was running Kirisakura Kernel 2.8.0; I've just removed it in order to see if the issue was related to it... now it is 2 days without issue.... ( but it didn't happen every days)
I read "Turn io_mq to off" but I didn't find it into EXKM app...
None on my GM1917 stock rooted...
I updated to OB2 since 4days , never happenrd the sod anymore, Hope It Is solved....

Hello all,
I installed the latest Sky Ice Cream Sandwich ROM RC6.3 and used faux123's kernel but have issues where my skyrocket never goes into a deep sleep causing a severe battery depletion.
Using CPU spy shows instead of a deep sleep my device is CPU is at 384GHz.
Can anybody help with suggestions? I tried Da_G's 0.42 kernel with the ROM and battery isn't great either.
Help me please....

Turning off wifi makes a big difference, letting it go into deep sleep a lot more than 384

I agree with trying out the .3 Da_G kernel. I was having some of the same issues you were having (Deep sleep, battery depletion, bricking a phone for example). Try that out.
How do I change from one kernel to another?
Download the kernels and place the .zip's on the root of the SD card. From there, since most of them are CWM flashable, boot into recovery and wipe the cache and the dalvik cache. From there, install from SD (or internal SD) and you're good to go!
The most popular ones are the stock ones, Da_G's, or I've even heard of some people satisfied with the Cyanogen ones, if that's your thing. If you still have issues try flashing a stock kernel and/or rom. It never hurts to start anew!
Here you can find instruction on changing kernels!!!!!!

Mainly I was wondering if doing that will erase or overwrite the other flashed kernel I have. Sorry if I left some info out before.
Oh. Well. Yea, they will. If you want to keep them then go ahead and make a nandroid backup.
Now that I think about it, I heard somewhere that flashing stock kernels before flashing another custom one reduced chances for bricking, but, I haven't practiced that and I'm doing just fine. Might be just me though.
OH shi** i m sorry. I updated the thread and that's y it did that. Forgive me for doing that. Here is the rite one.

EDIT: wow. don't know why this thread wasn't refreshed for me. sorry you already answered that a while ago haha.
OK. I started over by installing sky ics again. Then CPU spy. And as soon as I install set CPU, my phone will no longer go into deep sleep. Even if I uninstall set CPU. Now what.
Update- I cleared set CPU data under manage applications, then installed, then UNPLUGGED THE STUPID CHARGER!!!
Now it gets deep sleep again. I guess I will have to try system tuner with the next OC kernel I try..
The problem is Setcpu. Use No-Frills CPU instead.
I may give that a try
Update - I flashed latest faux123 kernel and I checked CPU spy and i'm overclocked to 1720000 with no tuner app installed. Problem is definitely with set CPU.

Thank you everyone for the quick replies... There are two KERNELS submitted by Da_G:
1- [KERNEL] AT&T/Rogers dag .42 1.83GHzOC/UV/init.d/BFQ/BLN/FUSE/adb root/optimized
2- [KERNEL] Cyanogenmod Skyrocket Kernel 0.43pre v4
Which one do I use? I attempted to use the Rogers 0.42 kernel

go based on what you are using. and which device you have. If you are using a rogers device and are NOT using the CM7 beta rom, then yes the rom you listed is the correct rom.
Ok i have flashed ARHD and that's it. I haven't messed with anything else. But i am getting a huge battery drain even when i am not doing anything on the phone. Look at the images attached to this post. As you can see at some point the phone is awake even though i haven't touched it. I left it for 24 hours, with minimal use at the start and then i just left it at home. I have disabled background data. Can anyone help me with this? Is it because of ARHD rom?

Hi,
Poor battery life is probably down to the kernel you are using.
It's about experimenting to find the best ROM/kernel combination.
Choose from either Faux kernels HERE
Or bricked kernels HERE
Make a nandroid backup.
Place kernel on the root of tour sd card,
wipe cache and dalvik,
flash kernel like ROM,
reboot.
Thanks for your reply!
I just noticed version 3.6.12 was out and flashed it. It's with latest Faux kernel. Will test this out and see how it is. If it's same then i will try bricked kernels. Anyone you would recommend for this rom ?

Hi,

You need to give it a chance before you can judge it.
If you do get poor battery life ,you need to experiment a bit with the ROM/kernel combination.

I tried ARHD x.11 and x.12 and have had this awful wifi battery drain aswell but I didn't try another kernel because I was very new to the Android OS. After that, I have tried some other custom roms but I didn't fell in love like it happend with ARHD. So just wanted to know if this bug is still there or if something has changed.

I only had this problem with the ARHD roms. Which radio do you use?
10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 which is recommended for that rom

I'm bit noob at this but I have used ARHD roms since 3.x now using 6.0.2 xe version.
Never had such battery drain, used latest kernels from faux at 3.x now 6.0.2 uses stock

Hi,
That drain you are showing is not actually that bad...
When I was on 3.x.x it was worse than yours.
You cannot compare phones like that.
They are running different OS,different hardware,so they are not comparable.
I used to get 1-2 mA drain on my HD2,but you will never see anything that low on the Sensation.
Why don't you try THIS KERNEL

This is really weird as my phone keeps rebooting especially when i'm on a somewhat lengthy phone call. The phone will turn dark and when i move it away from my ear the light will not come back on. About 30 seconds or a minute later, the phone reboots. This is so annoying and am looking for a solution. I heard that manually rebooting your phone can help out. Any other solutions that can help with this situation?
Ok,

If so, what ROM are you running?
What Kernel are you running?

Sorry GIS but had to head out for a minute. Anyway I'm rooted and running Slim 2.9 ROM. My dumbass pretty much leaves my phone on and now think that's why I'm having this issue.
And in using the kernel which is included in the ROM, which is the Bedalus Marmite kernel.

Random reboots are a reported thing with Marmite that is being worked on. Try flashing another kernel like Matr1x. Us the CM cfs version. Flash it and let it settle in and report back in a few days. Marmite uses bigmem and not every phone agrees with it.
Let me know the turnout.

Again i want to thank both of you for your help. I flashed the Matr1x 24.0 CFS CM kernel and thus far it's working out great. granted it's only been roughly 12 hours but i had made calls without any reboots or any problems. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed but i'm sure with all the knowledge and info you guys gave me, this will probably be the end of my troubles. Thanks again.
Sorry about that. Reboots seem to be solved. Next version of slim should be fine.
So I found a version of mahdi rom that I thought I would post here so people can find it. Sorry if I did anything wrong. This isn't mine and I've never made a thread for a rom before. It appears to have the same kernel issues as all other D850 aosp roms do though, so flash at your own risk.

When you get a kernel panic and reboot, turn off your device for 10 minutes. Once you turn it back on it should not go into kernel panic until you reboot again. I have done this haven't gotten the kernel panic issue in a while.

Word of advise. Be very careful flashing roms you randomly find. You could end up with a bricked device that has a voided warranty.
Hi, last night I couldn't sleep and I decided to flash a few kernels on my global 4/64 Whyred. To be honest, I didn't expect a wide variation in results, however the difference between the fastest and slowest kernel was 28000 points.
The phone's ROM was Bootleggers Oreo. Tested kernels: ROM's stock Derp+, Derp-v5.3, AGNi_PIE-v5.6, IceCold-R5.2, KangarooX-R4.4 and InsigniuX-x14.
This is by no means a comprehensive test (each kernel ran Antutu 7.2.2 only once), but is might serve as a starting point for some people. Before I attach the screenshots, I'd like to mention that IceCold boots the phone in less than half the time the others do, however apparently it was not enough to give it the crown (it's not overclocked). It also fails to show its information in "About phone", so I took it from termux.
All tests consumed 1-2% of battery and no tweak whatsoever was applied on the kernels (schedulers, clocks etc); they ran at stock settings.
I would like to thank the kernels developers for their hard work.
[EDIT] Added KangarooX-OC.
SCORES
Code:
KangarooX 128,209
AGNi 125,286
IceCold 117,020
Derp-v5.3 113,870
Derp+ 113,597
InsigniuX 100,639
Aren't the oreo builds discontinued bro?
Apparently not, most of the tested kernels are only a few days or weeks old and also agni works perfectly, despite being designated Pie.
I found P ROMs not mature enough yet for daily use.
