Slow Wifi - Moto G7 Power Questions & Answers

Has anyone encountered this? WiFi speeds on this are abyssmal on this. I'm wondering if it's because I'm using the 4gb version in the US?

I just got fiber at my house; so I'm used to, at best, 8/1M speeds.
Just tested my g7 supra (power from Cricket, 3M ram ver) and got 40/40M from my 100/100M service.
Is 40 normal?

Sudden 4G speed drop?

Hey guys. Over the past 2 weeks or so, I've noticed a dramatic drop in LTE speeds with my phone. Also, it now quite frequently completely drops 4G or a data connection all together. I've been running the 802 radios on SHIFTSENSE 1.5X and used to consistantly hit 5-7Mbits, now I struggle to break 0.75Mbit. Thinking this could be a sudden strange ROM or radio bug, I upgraded to the new 906 radios and tried Liquid 3.0. No difference.
Any tips or suggestions? Is my radio burnt out and in need of replacement? Anyone else in Philadelphia area PA experiencing the same?
Thanks!

i know if you use a lot of bandwidth(and are on the unlimited data) that Verizon at some point will slow down your connection for a bit. last month i used nearly 30GB and the last week of my billing cycle i noticied that my speed had also dropped considerably. coincidentally, at that time i decided to try out a new rom(switched from Synergy over to shiftao5p) and upon doing so my bandwidth went back to normal.
perhaps switching roms gets around Verizon's throttling ? in either case, i'm sure that if you did use a ridiculous amount of bandwidth one month and they did throttle you, they'd most likely set it back to normal on the new billing cycle.
If I said I used 2GB last month that would be an extreme exaggeration. I doubt I even used 1GB. I don't think I got throttled

did your area recently receive 4G?... they could still be working out the kinks here & there. additionally, it's possible there could have been a 4G outage or they may just be doing maintenance in your area.
have you called Verizon and asked?... a lot of times though if they are doing work on the towers in your area the Verizon reps won't have the info on the hand in regards to it. generally though, if you are in a 4G area and 4G is down(or considerably slow) for more then just a few days there could be a problem with the phone itself.
considering that it's been working for you though i doubt it's a software issue unless you've recently switched radios.
i have heard of people having reception issues though do to the antenna piece on the back panel of the phone(the panel you remove to take out the battery, sim card, sd card). try taking it to a local Verizon store and let them know your concern. they'll replace the panel for you for free and it may be the culprit.

Slow internet after screen replacement

Hi,
I recently replaced my broken screen with a new one. After assembling back the phone I noticed that my internet is very slow. I ran the speedtest and it said my ping was 1182ms and download/upload about 0.03mbs/0.02mbs. Wifi works perfectly.
Anyone know why does this occur? Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks
Edit: So the 3G/GSM connector was poorly attached. I added some electrical tape to secure it. Now it works!
Hi!
I have the same problem. I have a noob question.. Which one is a 3g connector? Could you please post some pictures. Thanks in advance!
I have this same issue but it's my wifi that's slow and reduced speeds and LTE works fine on a Samsung S21 Ultra. Repair shop said it works and that's good enough they can't see the issue despite me having video proof of my S21 Ultra and a family members s21 ultra next to each other running very different speeds, 4 mbps vs 75 mbps right next to each other

is your N5 stock android?
check the cables and contacts on the back cover. there's a thread on here about a GPS fix that also work for the Wifi signal.

Painfully slow Wi-Fi on Xt1034 US

So I bought a used XT1034 US 16GB off of Amazon. When I got it the Wi-Fi cnnection was just terrible. I got average speedtest ratings of 3.00MB/PS instead of the average 25 I get on all of my other 2.4GHZ devices. I decided to load the ParanoidAndroid legacy ROM here and I got slightly better wi-fi speeds (probably my imagination lol) but they are still very slow. In some speedtests with PA-L I got 25MB/PS but that stopped quickly and went down to 3.00 again. I really want to know whats going on, and if there is a way to fix it. I've flashed the stock radio firmwares, restarted the phone, and installed a bunch of ROMS. I'm stumped. Please help me, I cant take this Wi-Fi!
EDIT: If you need some more info:
I have a dual-band Xfinity router (2.4GHZ and 5GHZ)
On my PC (connected to 2.4GHZ) I get 40MB/PS on Speedtest, same with Tegra Note 7

Cellular strength and throughput

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the OnePlus 5's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.
Device runs fantastically on T-Mobile network. This is Band 4 (20mhz) + Band 2 (10mhz) speed test. I haven't hit 3xCA yet but I know I will soon.
It's very fast. The image below I got yesterday but in areas I would get 25-30mbps I sometimes only pull 3-5mbps down and the upload will still be 15mbps. Kinda strange. But even at those slower speeds anything I do browser or youtube is instant. So not sure if the app is wonky with the OP5. I mean I shouldn't be able to stream 1080p YouTube content with 2-4mbps download speeds, but I do.
Does anyone use 3g instead of 4g? The problem I'm faceing is that it takes sometimes 5-10 sec before it starts loading the site when using 3g. This problem does not occur when using 4g. I didn't experience the same problem with my Oneplus 3
i have very bad reception with my OP5. At Places where my OP3 had 3G or even 4G the OP5 has E or sometimes no internet... Only at places like a forest or in a basement under an airport (where i work) but my old OP3 has great reception with the same SIM card. Maybe i use the wrong settings or wrong SIM slot?
dual sim inquiry
does the op5 has "Dual SIM Dual Active type" of cellular connection?

I experience exactly the same problem.
When I'm on 3g I can't load anything the first 10 seconds when screen is switched on. I have tested several SIM cards in my op5 (everything works fine with other phone)
It's extremely annoying
Best in class never experienced any problem.
In parts of Rajasthan where cellular reception is very bad, everyone runs toward me to have a call:laugh:

No I didn't... I guess it is a hardware problem but i don't wanna send it to OP so I live with it =)
Same here
Perfect on Brazil!
Carrier: Claro
Could be better, especially weak when on H+.
I've been using my OP5 since February when I bought a used one off of Swappa. I have found that I actually get better LTE in places that my N5X didn't get good signal (I had voice, but data was about as fast as 2G even though it was on LTE). Now, I get decent speeds in those same areas (higher end 3G probably akin to HSPA speeds).
I would give five stars, but the problem with the 3g network is awful. In my city there are no 4g/lte operators, my internet conection does not work, I have to constantly switch on and of the airplane mode, it's annoying.

Question SLOW LTE SPEEDS

Hi
Mine is working fine s21+ exynos, test the speed and compare with what the ISP offered you, check here or here
Try a network reset.
I could say I'm also a bit disappointed with the LTE (4G) connectivity. I put the same sim card (TPG Singapore) to my S21+ (Exynos) and my old Huawei P20 Pro and tested. On S21+, the speed is 56Mb down, 4 Mb Up. I thought it's pretty ok, until I try with the old P20 Pro, the result is 75.1 Mb Down, 5Mb Up. Testing with the same sim card, placing the phone on the same spot on my table. At least, it's still better than my wife's OP7T, so I won't make much complaint here.
And reception-wise, While I got a full bar reception strength on the P20 Pro, I only got 3 bar on S21+.
But where the old P20 Pro can't beat S21+ is the Wifi Speed. Connected to same home wifi (Gigabit Wifi with 1Gbps fiber line), P20 Pro yield only 430Mb down and 333Mb up, while S21+ yield 450 Mb down and 530 Mb up.

thanks for your inputs. I am getting a new sim to see if that does anything. I tried everything else and nothing works. As for the wifi it is also weaker at least for the 2.4 ghz. 5 ghz is fine. It is ok at home but a lot places I go to do not use 5 ghz routers yet. 2.4 ghz speed on my s21+ is 10mbits while on my pixel 2 and poco x3 is 100. While on the 5ghz spectrum they all get the full speed of about 220 mbits.
