So I recently flashed my T-Mobile purchased phone to the international version. I also bootloader unlocked and rooted it. One of the things I really wanted to do was to install the Google Dialer Framework (Magisk module) and to have the most up to date Google Dialer direct from the PlayStore installed.
It worked. Very happy about it. But here is where the weird part happens. Visual Voicemail is MIA. I will break this down as succinctly as possible.
Starting off, the OnePlus Dialer is working normally and the Visual Voicemail tab visible.
Install Google Dialer Framework
Install Google Dialer from the Play Store
Set the Google Dialer to be the Default Phone app
I give Google Dialer permissions to Display Over Other Apps and Modify System Setting
I disable the OnePlus Dialer
I go into Google Dialer, no Visual Voicemail tab
I go into Google Dialer settings, Voicemail settings is not there.
I go Calling Accounts and choose the setting for the T-Mobile SIM, no Voicemail settings
I re-enable and open the OnePlus Dialer, the Visual Voicemail tab is gone.
I uninstall the Google Dialer, open the OnePlus Dialer and the Visual Voicemail tab is back
I go into Calling Accounts and the setting for the T-Mobile SIM, and the Voicemail setting is back
I have tried installed installing and uninstalling the dialer multiple times. I have tried clearing the cache and storage too. Nothing helps. That Visual Voicemail tab is gone in Google Dialer.
TLDR, Using an International flashed OnePlus 7Pro and installing Google Framework via Magisk and the Google Dialer from the Play Store, the phone forgets that Visual Voicemail is a thing. Uninstall the Google Dialer and Visual Voicemail comes back to the OnePlus Dialer
Did you figure this out?
I tried everything. Ended up going back to op dialer. Only one I could get to work right
Ah that's a bummer. I'm ok not having VV since I rarely get any. It doesn't work with the stock OP dialer for me anyway and I don't want to download T-Mobile's app. I still prefer having the Google Dialer with the floating call manager and the features that do work on the OP.
I actually did!
So what I did was get rid of everything keeping only Magisk installed.
I installed Google Dialer Framework Magisk module.
I installed Systemless Magisk module
I installed Google Phone from the Play Store (I did not open the app)
I installed Terminal Emulator from the Play Store
I opened Terminal Emulator
Granted Terminal Emulator root access
Typed in "su systemlesss
I typed in "Systemless" again
Chose to see the list of apps (I think option 1)
typed in the number for the Phone
Chose to have it installed as "Priv-App"
rebooted the phone
Opened Phone app
There it was!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
I followed your steps but the name of the caller doesn't show up and spam calls are not blocked.

I am on US t-mo. Did you try installing t-mo visual voicemail app first? That activates it. There is a whole process to it.
Install t-mo vv
Activate t-mo vv
Turn off wifi
Clear phone cache
Uninstall t-mo vv
Reboot
What preference manager?

They calling t-mo and have them take a look at your account and have them reset everything resisted to Vidal voicemail to the default. I did this a while back. Can't say it helped, but it didn't hurt.
Thanks for the Preference Manager tip. It worked getting the transcription options working.

Hi, I am running Cyanogenmod 11.0-InstallerXNPQ32P on Android version 4.4.4 on a Samsung Galaxy S4.
I stupidly removed the dialer app and various others that I didn't think I needed (calendar etc) using the System Uninstaller (Root) app which I got from the Google Play Store. I didn't think I needed the stock dialer app as I use another dialer version which I downloaded from Google Play Store. I now know this was wrong!
Now, whenever someone calls me, the screen illuminates (showing my home page) and the phone vibrates as if it is notifying me of the call. However, I am not informed who is actually calling me and I am not given the option to answer or reject the call etc.
When I open the dialer that I use (True Phone) I can dial a number or call a contact etc as I normally would. However, instead of taking me to the screen to hang up, access the dial pad etc it stays on the True Phone page. I therefore cannot hang up the call. So if the person I am trying to call doesn't answer or the call goes to their answer machine I cannot hang up without selecting airplane mode or restarting the phone.
When removing the apps I thought I would be reasonably safe as the app I used to remove them (System Uninstaller (Root)) from the Google play store states that the 'deleted' apps would remain in its recycle bin and could be restored at any time. Maybe I should have known better. When I press on the recycle bin button within the app it says there are no removed apps - even though there are. If I navigate to the recycle bin folder using ES File Explorer I can see all of the backups of the apps that have been removed. But, annoyingly, the app will not recognise the backups - even though it made them itself! The backups are .conf.backup format.
I have emailed the app developer numerous times asking for help but he/she is ignoring me.
I have been researching how to get the dialer app back etc but have now discovered there is also a problem with part of my system. While I can install apps from the Google Play Store, trying to install any other apk file leaves me with the message, "Unfortunately, Package Installer has stopped."
If I go to Settings/Apps/All and select Package Installer I get, "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" and it kicks me back out to the main Settings page.
I would be extremely grateful if someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction as to how to fix these problems and get my phone back working as it was. I know I have been stupid in removing the dialer in the first place.
Unfortunately I am not really that great when it comes to the various mods and will require layman's terms if possible... Sorry

dont worry! the same happened to me. just download the stock rom, extract the apk from system.img its named as like phone.apk or dialer.apk , and install it. this should solve your issue
Thanks very much for replying my post. The post is quite old now and I have sorted it. I had to flash the stock rom back on (i had cyanogenmod installed). It was a pain and took a while but I got there in the end. Thanks again though. I don't know how to close this thread

OK fine
NOTE: This might only apply to the Verizon version of the S9/S9+ (SM-G96xU), but for those of you who have this app, disable it.
It's labeled as "Mobile Services Manager" under Settings > Apps (it does not appear in your app drawer in your launcher).
Previously called DT Ignite (or just Ignite), it can and does install apps without your permission as instructed by your carrier. This is in addition to the apps installed on first boot by ConfigAPK (android.autoinstalls.config.samsung) and is guaranteed to just be bloat.
The package name is com.LogiaGroup.LogiaDeck and was found on my device under /system/carrier/priv-app/IgniteVerizon/IgniteVerizon.apk. Without root, you can't delete this package, but you can disable it, which will prevent it from continuing to do its dirty work.
Thx for the tip

Hi there. Does anyone know what the app is called for Spectrum Mobile? As far as I know, Spectrum cell service is a relatively new thing (at least here in BFE) so I'll understand if no one is sure. Don't know if it matters or not, but they run off Verizon. Thanks in advance for any advice. I am completely new to any sort of tweaking/customization other than changing some settings here and there. (Basically just being a wimp with a leased phone.) I'm interested in learning all I can, or all I can without voiding the warranty. Lol. Thanks all and sorry if I sound clueless.
Update: still looking on my new phone for possibilities but I did just get on my S7 Edge from Verizon and found Mobile Services Manager using Package Disabler Pro. Wow! Those permissions were ridiculous.
Is it applicable in tmobile as well?
That's why I bought package disabler pro. Eliminates all vzw bloat.
Mobile services manager
I found this app also in the application list on At&t Galaxy S9+, but not in my app drawer. I uninstalled the updates for it and it went from being called mobile services manager to At&t app select. I disabled it and once I did it disappeared completely from my app list all together. It had background data enabled and everything. Sneaky At&t, try to get one iver on me.

Honestly I got tired of At&t bloatware and wifi calling notification staying on my panel. I flashed the U1 firmware to my phone last night. The AT&t firmware has a serious security issue where if I make a call and press the lock key the phone unlocks itself as soon as the call ends or if I get a call and unlock it for any reason it stays unlocked after the phone call. I use headphones at work for my calls and this leaves it unlocked in my pocket doing all kinds of things. At&t says not an issue just pull your phone out and lock it. I say Im not supposed to have my phone at all and I rely on the answer and end call button on my headphones and need it to stayocked in my pocket. I dont have this issue with the U1 firmware. And it has a data switch in the shortcut pull down menu so no background data period.
I am reading this thread after finding it by Google search.
I am trying to find the source of my battery drain on my Samsung Note 8.
While searching and deleting apps, I stumbled across this unknown thing, and here I am.
Btw...
I'm on T-Mobile.
Be aware of this new bloatware system app name! Mobile Device Manager(formerly known as DT Ignite) has now changed it's name to Verizon App Manager. Don't be fooled, disable this so-called 'system app' ASAP to prevent it from installing unwanted apps (mostly games) onto your phone while eating up your phone's resources and data!
The app is prime video. I'm not even able to access the login screen, I just automatically am greeted with the "app sign in failure" message. It's the only app I've had an issue with since root. I even installed a couple banking apps to see if they behaved similarly, but there were no issues. I'm running magisk canary with magisk hide enabled. Is this possibly related to being rooted or something entirely different? Google search on this issue didn't produce anything.
Try clearing the cache and data for the app and rerun it.

ok just tried that, didn't work, thanks though.
The prime video app works fine on my pixel 4a running A10 with Magisk (but not hide)
So, try this:
1) Uninstall and reinstall the app - see if that works.
2) Install the regular amazon shopping app and see if you can sign into that - if you can, then the prime video app may just start working because I have noticed in the past that signing into one of the apps will also automatically sign you into the other.

Well this is odd, with the amazon shopping app, when I tap login, it starts forward for a sec then kicks me back every time. I did previously try reinstalling the prime video app. Very bizarre
I actually tried installing it on my 6 year old rooted with xposed note 4 and had no issues, logged in and all.
I would also try clearing the data and cache of the amazon shopping app (if you didn't just install it).
It sounds like you might have a restriction on one or both of the apps, like XprivacyLua or you may need to whitelist these apps to get them to work.

yea, I had just installed the amazon app to test. What is XprivacyLua? Sounds kinda like an xposed module. And how do I whitelist these apps?
If you don't know what Xprivacy is, then you don't have it and it can't be causing this.
Is there any Magisk or Xposed modules you have loaded that could be effecting these amazon apps?

Thank you very much! I've been trying to disable, change settings, clear caches, uninstall, reinstall, hide, add exceptions etc. until I found this thread. In my case, the trick was to disable both AdGuard and AdAway, then presto, I was able to login in both Amazon Appstore and Amazon Shopping apps (and then re-enable both).
This also allowed me to login in the PayPal app, which was having the same issue of flashing the login screen for a split second before going back to the initial screen. So, triple thanks!

Don't just check each item to be denied (ie Google Play Services), push the toggle on for each subservice that appears under the item when you select it. Do the same for your banking and Uber apps.
