"Ok Google" not working on new 7 Pro - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Google app, clearing cache in app and on phone. Retrained the voice in Google app a dozen times. Nothing is working. Side note: my SIM card is still installed in my old 5T. the 7 Pro doesn't have a SIM card. Not sure if that is a factor. Assistant works fine. *UPDATE: "OK Google" will launch when prompted when display is locked but it won't answer or respond to whatever I ask it. "OK Google" will not launch or respond when phone is unlocked at all.

I'm having similar issues but mine stops responding once I connect to my car stereo... And doesn't respond even after disconnecting until I reboot.

7 pro?

Same issue OK Google will NOT work on the One Plus 7 pro for some reason on my end
Did all that was suggested , Clear Cache , Clear Data, Disable Google, Reboot, then Endable google, retrain my voice
But still on the home screen when I say OK Google nothing happens
Anyone have a FIX for the Oneplus 7 pro? Thanks

I'm assuming you are rooted using Magisk? See my post here:

Not rooted. Using Nova and I restored from a Nova backup if that matters.

Interesting. Sorry I can't help then. I had the exact same issue but was able to to resolve it by adding Google Framework to Magisk Hide. Since you're not rooted, this doesn't apply. Maybe try resetting to factory and see if it works before restoring any backups?

rooted, with custom kernel and custom launcher. OK Google works like a charm.

Just did factory reset and ok Google is now working. It hasn't finished restoring, however. I'll report back once it has. What a pita.

UPDATE: OK Google is working fine after Factory Reset, (PITA), and full restore.

That is what I was afraid of ,doing a full factory reset
If anyone has another solution that avoids that please let me know
Thanks all

Mine seems to work when the phone is awake however I have noticed that for some reason the Google pill widget does not show the 'ok google' text that normally shows up on my other phones.
Using stock launcher so not a 3rd party problem.
Anyone else notice this?

Not entirely helpful here other than to tell you that I'm not experiencing the same thing. ?

Full factory reset as a solution, lol. C'mon guys

No better solutions? Are we the only unlucky ones here.

The similar issue I have also come across on my phone and believe me, it was very irritating situation as I am not getting any way to fix it. Even I was not able to understand why it was happening but after searching a lot, I have got some solutions given in one blog. So if you are also coming across the same issue like "OK Google Not Working" then try the below solutions:
Solution 1: Restart Your Android Phone
Solution 2: Force Stop Google App
Solution 3: Clear Cache of Google App
Solution 4: Turn Off Bixby [For Samsung Users]
Solution 5: Make Sure That OK Google Command Is Enabled
Solution 6: Check Microphone On Your Device
Solution 7: Turn Off Adaptive Battery And Battery Saver Option

An old one here but have you installed any third party notification app like notifybuddy or plus beat? Ok Google won't work with these installed. The only notification app that doesn't interfere is AOE.

I have noticed a similar issue with voice-to-text being terrible and when this is happening OK Google does not work although it could be problem that happens even after OK Google is working but the voice to text is terrible at recognizing words. After android 10

[Q] Nexus 5 will not add calendar events via Google Now, any fix?

whenever I try to add a calendar event using a voice command in Google Now, it will get to the final confirmation screen and then error out.
This was an issue with 5.0.0, and remains an issue after I updated to 5.0.1 via OTA. Unfortunately I never tried to add calendar events with voice commands back in KitKat, so I don't know if it was a problem in 4.4.
I've tried many times and get the same result each time, regardless of whether I am on WiFi or LTE.
Google Now works fine in every other way. For example, if I use a voice command to start navigating to a specific address, there are no issues with that.
Here's what happens after I say the command. Everything looks fine at this point: http://imgur.com/8wpP5oc
However, as soon as I press the check mark in the bottom right corner, this happens: http://imgur.com/pOJkufp
Any ideas on a fix? Thanks!

Can you elaborate? I just recently upgraded to 5.0.1, so most of my settings are at defaults. I don't think I've gone in and specifically uninstalled/blocked anything related to Google search yet.

Try clearing the data of Google Search/Google Play Services and maybe try removing and readding your Google Account.
If that doesn't work then make a backup then reflash factory images.
I finally got around to completely re-flashing my phone via fastboot. I am now on a completely clean install of Android 5.0.1. I've even gone back to stock keyboard and launcher in case Nova or Swiftkey was causing an issue.
However, still no luck. Getting the exact same error as before when trying to add a calendar event via Google Now voice command.
Any ideas?

Overall Issues with S8+ i have.

First issue is app badges. When i read message or check missing calls whatever it is general issue, the notification badge on app icon does not reset it self. Badge keeps as it is for 1 hour and then reset. Tried clearing badge provider but no solutuon.
Cant install apps from google play normally, it downloads to %100 and stays as it is. When i kill the google play and restart it then it installs the app.
Randomly getting really laggy with device.
When i am on call with bluetooth headphone and using my device, the device gets laggy. Cant switch wifi or install apps. Its like device gets my actions but does not proceed. When i end calls it starts proceed my actions one by one.
Tried factory reset, reinstalling stock firmware, all same. My device is stock and never rooted.
Btw, I see touchwiz update on sammobile but neither samsung apps or google play does not update the launcher. I try to install the apk from sammobile manually but it gives error like i have an app as same name as it is. So cant update to last version of touchwiz i stuck at 6.1.02
Any help for these issues or explinations? Thanks.
Is your device snapdragon version?

I hate this, only choice is either install a new launcher or long press the icon and select "clear badge."

You tried everything, could be a hardware issue. As for the touchwiz update, it could be for a different version then yours. I wouldn't be worried if you don't see the update unless your seeing other people with the sane phone get the updates.

None issue you mentioned I face it, by the way mine is Exynos edition.
Suggest Factory reset your phone, don't restore anything (this part is freaking important). Start as flash new phone setup.
As for Touchwiz, 6.1.02 is the latest version.
Snapdragon here, none of these issues are present on my device.
Exynos here. I did not facr these issues until last firmware update. After factory reset it was awsome for 1 week. Then again here my problems.
I highly suggest to return the phone to samsung and get a new one.. your phone seems to have a hardware issues.
I only have the common issues which is fingerprint sensor stops working sometimes. I never tried bluetooth so i can't confirm if i have any.
As many here also suggest that you should start fresh factory reset your phone and install your apps directly from the play store. If you had any problems with the playstore don't bather your self to fix the problem go directly to nearest samsung center and ask for an exchange unit.

Snap dragon here and I have no clue what these problems are....thank goodness of course
Use Nova launcher. Problem solved.
Galaxy S8+ Black
clear cache from the boot menu. May help before you return it.

Google Assistant is messed up

Hey All, my google assistant on my pixel 2 stock rooted June patch on verizon is having odd behavior. It seems that localized commands will work such as, "hey google, what is the weather" or "okay google, turn off mobile data".
When i ask something that requires assistant to go out to thew web for results, it will recognize the command but then it will show the three dots as if it's searching but never return results. Another strange thing is that when i ask it to call my voicemail, it will do the same thing but if i turn off mobile data, it will make the call .
i've tried clearing google app data and cache. i've also taken the SIM out and put it back in but the issue persists.
anyone else ever experience this? any suggestions?
i re-downloaded and re-flashed the system image. issue persists.
Fixed it. Needed to uninstall the Google app updates. I updated again via the n play store and it continued to work

Can't Reach Google? Android Pie?

After updating to Android Pie, I can no longer use Ok Google or manually hit the mic for the google app. I can type and use it though. Just the microphone option is broken for some weird reason.
I've tried everything. Factory reset, fastboot formats, clear app cache/data, ect... If you know what's wrong, let me know. Never had this before with any of my phones. Almost seems like an issue on Google's side?

I had this issue in oreo when I messed up with system apps.
It got fixed with complete fresh install of Pie.
There were two scenarios;
Upgraded from oreo to pie - didn't worked
I freshly installed HavocOS, I was surprised that OK google still won't work - have to tap mic button everytime.
Completely wiped phone, used MSMtool.
Restored to 5.1.5
Wiped again with TWRP
Installed Android Pie again.
Then it started working.
Conclusion- it seemed google side problem as it said I had already saved voice model on other phone ( oreo) and I could not retrain.
And there were no fixes on XDA OR reddit.

I'll give MSMTool a shot. I followed this guide to correct the issue, but still not working. I'll update thread after I've updated to Android Pie from Oreo. Hopefully it works. Everything is working fine, google is just broken for some reason. I wonder what happened exactly.

I've done a fresh install multiple times. Tried flashing thru TWRP as well. Only things I haven't tried are ADB sideloads and MSMTool. I'm in the process right now. It's working right now, we'll see if Android Pie works too.
MSMTool fixed it. Guess flashing thru MSMTool is better than the .bat files on the guide I was following. Thanks for the help @drmjp93.
Edit: Not fixed. Soon as the Google app updates, it breaks.

Weird... Okay, so it seems there is something wrong with the Google App still. Everything was working fine, but soon as the Google app updated, it no longer works. Am I the only one having this issue? I am so confused.
Again, I've done everything! Factory resets, MSMTool, cleared app data...
Edit: Turns out my Google account is breaking it for some reason... No clue why. Soon as I remove my google account, google detects my voice. So weird... Now to figure out how to fix it.

Yes may be its related to accounts, as during voice training it said I cannot train new voice as my account has already one saved.
I contacted them. It was an automated reply or a third person - an volunteer talks with us.
But if u do, do ask them to clear your trained voice saved to your account.
I don't know but I did every possible thing to get it working back.
Just ask them in particular to delete your all Voice related settings and activity.

Spoke with google support, they tried pretty much everything I've tried. They told me to report it to the developer's. Am I really the only one having this issue? I find it hard to believe I'm the only one having this issue on Android Pie now. Is your Google app widget working when you manually search?
Yes bro it works.
And regarding you are only the one is incorrect.
There are random ppl affected.
Including me but it was magically solved.

Play Store downloads stuck at 99 or 100% or SMS (stock app) stuck on sending?

If you are having these issues (see title), what worked for me was to disable, uninstall or freeze (if rooted) the google app. This means you'll lose "ok google", google lens, etc. everything related with the assistant, but, for me is worth it because sending sms messages to have them show "sending..." eternally while knowing they were received drove me nuts.
Try uninstalling or disabling the google app if you are having issues like this.
Good Day.

As long as I had the Google app disabled everything worked flawlessly (I tested for months)
Recently I had to restore my phone to factory (locked bootloader, wipe, etc)
Now Google and my phone can work together again.
Not sure what changed, but so far so good.
This oddly worked for me
have been having this problem since June 2019with a Honor V10. I too found disabling the Google app was a work around. Strangely yesterday I managed to enable Google update all apps and the sms sent fine for about 10 hours now I'm back to the same problem again. I have also restored the phone and reinstalled all apps from scratch rather than use a back up. With the same issue occuring I presume there must be a software conflict somewhere with the apps I download.
Did anyone find a long term solution that enable the Google app to run?
Cheers n Gone Nick
Whoever stumbles here from google, I had same problem today and instead of disabling Google app, just killing it worked for me.
