At this time, yes. It's discussed in the thread you've been directed to. But also simply stated on the official TWRP webpage:
The OnePlus 7 Pro uses the newer AB partition scheme first introduced on the Pixel 1. As such there is no recovery partition. Instead, the recovery is part of the boot image. Actually seems that fastboot boot command doesn't work, so to flash the installer you need to root your device and flash the TWRP installer
Also, this thread is pretty redundant, when there is already the (previously linked) TWRP thread, which already has plenty of discussion on this topic.

There is no root guide in the ROM section, just Kali rom, twrp and forum rules/mods. Maybe a link would be helpful.
Update: I guess they are talking about it in the TWRP post, seems out of place considering the ROM section is not meant for discussion.

Thanks, work fine for me.
Well that's depressing. I can't wait for root on my T-Mobile S7 Edge.

Yep, none of those threads have to do with "Root", but people are having discussions about root in the TWRP thread which is against forum rules because those are dev threads. But I guess the dev is either slacking or just letting it fly. Either way, thank you.

Seriously?
I will quickly answer this, as this discussion is against the rules as it is not about the topic of this thread. It is lacking of respect towards the OP who is doing job for the community.
There are various conversations about rooting.
1. The TWRP with root included if you read the OP. People are discussing issues or trying to find solutions for their phones.
2. There is a specific thread saying CF Auto Root ...talks about rooting your devices with Chainfire's fabulous work only. Well mostly people saying thank you, as it is rare that Chainfire's work goes wrong.
I think the Mods on this forum are tough and correct... so if something was against the rules, they would of taken action.
Now this is a thread about volume and Viper... so nothing to do with this discussion... So let's go back on topic.

okkkkkaaaaayyyy. the rom/recovery sections is meant for the developers to post updates on their progress or info about the rom/recovery/etc. This is why the mods continually tell people to not discuss in the rom section, and instead the dev should create a separate thread in the Q&A regarding any questions pertaining to the thread. Root is relevant to almost everything on XDA, so when someone says to go look in the rom section about root information, it's kind of vague to assume that information about "how to root" will be in the TWRP recovery section. My point was that simply telling a user to go to the rom section to find answers about rooting their phone is not ideal nor does it make sense, so let's all avoid confusing more and more people on this site.

No need to flash both mods at the same time as they are meant for the same purpose. Mod by ZuBi182 has more features and adjusted values.
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Working but 10 second later turn normal mod
Why do you think's going on?
For example in youtube, 10 second viber4android active, later deactivate.

Not good. Someone understand spanish and read this Forum?
You need a wireless mouse, because of the not working touch. Your files can only be loaded from OTG device, flashdrive or something like this. I have no wireless mouse, thats why I can not try
You have to like the post or reply, then you get the download link.

Not very usefull this twrp but for root it is OK. Can someone load this File here or Link it? I have wireless mouse.
Hello...
This recovery is for the Y6 Max. Works only with the rom of December (needrom)
The TWRP is functional only with mouse. The touchscreen does not work, But otherwise it is fully functional.
With that you can already be root Installing the SuperSU zip
I also have a CyanogenMod rom, but the sound does not work through the speaker. I'm trying to fix it.
I understand Spanish. The recovery by Feligres(NAT) was ported from Doogee Y6. It was updated on Saturday 14th January.
Update- sorry, I see now that Feligres himself has just answered the question!

So I recently got this phone and my first concern with is that the stock rom that came with the phone is very meh. Also I am wondering if the phone will get any android upgrades?
The 7th release of android is a huge leap in both performance, memory management and more.
It does appear DOOGEE is fairly active in rolling out ROM updates and fixes for the y6 max
We need to convince them of the merits of providing hardware running AOSP with TWRP
Most critically they need to update Thier ROM with settings access to customize APN

Interesting.
Reading through here, they "claim" they will provide android 7 for the phone. I would be very happy with that.
Also they need to seriously give out driver info and so on about the hardware we have. The CPU and GPU on this phone is decent enough but there needs some improvement and I am sure the community can help if they just provide info.
Anyone tried flashing Magisk on this thing?, Did it worked?
Yeah, I did. I've even made TWRP recovery for it. Here the topic on 4pda forum 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=879677

Hello. I have a Poco X3 Pro and i'd like to flash the new Android 13 GSI on it. I have two questions. First, i'll take the GSI on the official Android website. I do not know if it is an A/B rom, and the Poco X3 Pro has only an A slot. If it is an A/B rom, would i still be able to flash it ? Second, can i flash the GSI on TWRP ? I don't have the dynamic partition yet (super partition) because i never went to Android 13, I am on Android 12. Do i need to flash it via fastboot, or is TWRP OK ?
Any reponses would be very helpful to me, thanks in advance.
Use a dsu loader tool from here with root to try a gsi image without booting to any recovery it just used about 2gb internal for storage if you want to test the gsi rom . Gsi roms are for testing only
