Has anyone else encountered artifacted or corrupted images on the OnePlus 7 Pro? The issue is subtle on the stock camera, but almost rampant on any gcam mods.
Here's a screenshot of photos taken with the Stock Camera:

But a few of the photos are hiding a secret. Look at this video of me opening and closing one of the pictures. See the weird colors?

Now look at pictures taken with the Arnova Gcam Mod:

These pictures are a mess. About one in 5 is hopelessly corrupted.
I had also noticed one of the thumbnail art on an audiobook I had on the device was corrupted the same way. I'm worried this is a hardware storage issue. I wanted to know if it was an isolated issue before I contact OnePlus about it.

Hello,
My G Tablet running CM7 Nightly #79 (had the same issue even in stable) is having an issue with the camera. The images I take are super highly compressed (in every one of the picture quality option). The preview is fine, however when you go to open the picture it is very bad quality and the file size is tiny. Also, in the camera app, if I go to take a video, the preview is fine until you click record and then the preview window freezes while the clock appears and ticks up, and then you click to stop and it does, but I seem to get a force close (even when I go to select different qualities I get a force close). But yes, when I ran the stock ROM I had no issues, and even when I ran TnT Lite I had no problems. So I was wondering if someone that had a working camera could maybe post their media_profiles.xml from their /system/etc/ folder? maybe that would be a solution. I know others have had this issue, but I have not seem to have found a solution out there.
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate all the work and effort out there in the android community.

This is a known issue in CyanogenMod and the devs are working on it.
For now, you can use the Camera Fun Free app from Market. I haven't tried it, but others on the board here have reported that it works for taking pictures.
Could this be a fix?

Has anyone else experienced the issue when selecting to view a photo in the gallery it is a fraction of the size of the screen (and no I'm sure I'm not just looking at the thumbnail grid). This wasn't an issue since unboxing. I just noticed it last night. It really bothers me.

Yea I posted there and no one offered any help.
Hi guys,
I have an issue.
I took a sphere today on my nexus5 running gcamera on the lollipop preview.
It took all the segments just fine and started processing it, notification icon appeared with progress bar in notification tray.
At which point locked it and put it in my pocket
Later I looked at my phone to share it but its not there. Its not in the photos app on the phone or desktop.
Any suggestions? Could it be cached somewhere and have failed to process?
The location is almost an hour away plus a 20min walk in near perfect weather conditions.
I have not tried another yet, main objective is to find out if its cached somewhere and is recoverable. If that defo is not the case then I will try to repeat the fault by taking another.
thanks!
You can only see it from the camera app, not the gallery. Open the camera and swipe to its built in gallery.
If not there, then no idea.
Edit. Looks like I'm wrong. On L, looks like normal called can see fine. Guess its lost.
you wont see it in the gallery app(not as a photosphere), you will see it in the photos app though.
It's nowhere, not in photos app either
Same problem here!
I'm having the same problem on my Nexus 5 with official Android 5.0 build. No root. No nothing. All stock. I can take photospheres all day and, just like the OP, they disappear once finished rendering. I found the individual photos and panorama version of the spheres in buried in the phone's camera app cache. Unfortunately that doesn't help the situation. Has anyone found a solution?
edit: Panorama mode has the same results. It appears to take the photo without issue. Once it finishing rendering, it is nowhere to be found.
2016 and nouget still have same issue with nexus5x ! Photosphere gone after rendering
Hi,
yesterday I took several portrait mode photos on Android 10, GCam 6.2_GCam_Arnova_2.2.2b2.apk (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/oneplus-7-pro/) with Hooolm_v10_Savitar_ZA3.xml a bit modified config. In the beginning everything is fine, both versions (normal and bokeh background) of pictures are visible both from GCam (Google Photos app disabled) and they are also saved in DCIM/Camera. But after some time portrait mode photos, all of them, are being removed both from GCam cache and from DCIM/Camera. Even some old portrait mode photo has been deleted. They are not present in any (sub)directory; otherwise Piktures app would find it.
What saved my ass was OnePlus Gallery app, which has recycle bin (wow!). It was possible to recover the photos from there.
Be warned. I don't trust this mode any more. Moreover, edge recognition is still not too good. I didn't experience similar behavior in normal mode ever.
If somebody has experienced that too and got the solution to prevent portrait mode photos being deleted, please share.
Anymore info here Zielony?
I like the portrait photos on my girlfriend's pixel 4 and the ability to adjust the amount of background blur, so was considering the gcam app for my 7 pro... But if portrait is not functioning I probably won't bother installing gcam.
Never had gcam do this once you should check your settings or stop using gcam tool. This isn't info this is one persons use which gives no real insight. Front and back portrait both work fine and always have for me on this device and every other never had any photos get deleted without doing it myself. Gcam version can make a bud difference as well. Burial is the best and what your show should be using. And if it's a 7.3 gcam you're using then you should expect this type of behavior since they're all beta right now and you need to realize no gcam with fully work on any devices cause these are all ports modified to work on other devices other than that you will only get full functionality with gcam on a pixel device so you should expect issues but your specific issue I've never seen or experienced and I've used gcam for years on all my op devices.
Howdy!
I'm using LineageOS (without Gapps) on my OnePlus 7 Pro and it's great. The only drawback is the camera.
I installed the Stock ROM OP camera app and gallery app and they kind of 'work' but the picture quality is just not there. It looks a lot worse, especially in wide angle mode.
Very soft, mushy, very grainy in the shadows, just overall poor quality.
Also, the camera app crashes when I open it every time. I have to long-click and select a mode, that's the only way to open the app. I also can't get from the camera directly to the gallery.
I'm using the 'correct' versions since I got the apk from my device when it was running OxygenOS 10.3.1
I tried installing 'OnePlus Camera service' apk, but it wouldn't install.
Did any of you guys figure out how to get the stock camera to work on a custom rom? I suspect there is some post processing app needed that runs in the background, cleaning up the picture.
thanks!
You should give Gcam a go.
There's a good discrption in the apps thread
I haven't seen OOSCam work well in any ROM. Gcam is great for photos, but stock OOS cam is what I want to use for video. It's the reason I went back to stock.
