Hello guys, I've used LineageOS on both my S5 (in 2017) and my S6 (end of 2018 til now) and I have had a great time with it, but it was a bit lacking. Do you have an idea what kernel I should use that is highly customizable and has tons of features (e.g., I can use my phone as a keyboard and mouse on my pc, even in the bios and OS-agnostic). What OS (I prefer official roms over unofficial (ports)) and kernel would you at xda recommend me?

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for some guidance from experienced Android devs - I have an O2 Joggler device which the original OS (am i'm being kind) is appauling.
Work has been underway to get Android x86 working on this device and currently we have a working image of 1.6 on the joggler - the only problem is the graphics are very slow, this is because there is the worlds most hated GPU in the Joggler (GMA500).
However - recently the official Android x86 guys have been working with a GMA500 device (Intel's S5 Viliv) which closely shares it's inners with the O2 Joggler and they have posted up a Froyo image with GMA500 support.
I've tried myself (not really knowing what I'm doing) and a few other guys have also, and the image doesn't boot off the bat on the joggler (just sits at the jogglers EFI screen not displaying anything but the O2 logo)
So, I'm looking for help from you guys as to what / if there is anything we can tweak to get this running like 1.6 (but hopefully with smooth graphics thanks to the new GMA500 support)
I don't have much experience in Android dev'ing but I have a strong IT background and some linux experience - I'm willing to do whatever you guys can suggest to see if we can get this working.
So, first question I guess is, what do you need to know to get the ball rolling?
Here is some info on the joggler's hardware; http://jogglerwiki.info/index.php?title=Hardware

Android x86 Image for Viliv S5 (Has the GMA500 support we want!); http://android-x86.googlecode.com/files/s5_froyo_101008.img

Any help you guys can offer would be madly appreciated by the joggler community, as Android is the perfect OS for the little device!
Thanks
I should probably add, I have tried to replace the system.img from the working 1.6 release with the one from the Viliv 2.2 release, but the 2.2 file is system.sfs not .img so I guess the kernel won't find it..
Presume the kernel would also need to be changed too anyway??
I am working on a Lineage based rom for Samsung galaxy s2 and LG g4! Any ideas? let me know! I will make it Open Source and highly fast. No Cyanogenmod apps but my own tried and tested faster ones!!
Battery life extender,
Make phone faster,
Software to make you able to print from phone - even usb through OTG adaptor,
Base it on Lineage OS 15 when possible,
include iOS theme ( optional )
If you'll remember the April Fools joke on Lineage OS's website, there was this fake program called Br0Zip:
We know our users; their biggest desire is to be able to get a stable custom rom on their device. Painlessly.
Lineage supports a lot of devices, but this big number is still small when compared to the amount of the devices available in the market.
One of our main goals is to bring the latest Android version to all those forgotten devices, but we also focus on user experience and security improvements.
The main problem with this cool thing is that you need a developer that builds and fixes all the bugs. It’s a pain, we’ve done it many times.
But these days are gone now. We’re deprecating maintainers. Yeah - you read it right.
We’re proud to annouce our AI-powered revolutionary product called Br0zip.
Br0zipperEngine, is a powerful AI that powers Br0Zip. Given any .zip ROM or .img kernel of any device (yeah - any device) it’ll be able to generate a properly working ROM.
It’s cool, isn’t it? But wait - there’s more: we believe customization is important, and that’s why we implemented a feature selector in the ROM builder wizard, so you can make your ROM truly yours.
Anyone, including those who have never touched a single line of code now can be a talented developer and create their own bugless custom ROM for their device in seconds.
The best thing? It runs directly on your phone - you don’t even need a supercomputer.
Br0zip trial will included for free in the LineageOS builds.
We can’t wait to see what you’ll build with it.
Keep romming,
The Lineage Ink. team

Despite the obvious fact that no such thing had been developed, it's actually a good idea.
Picture this: instead of flashing a ROM that adjusts itself (option 3 in the poll - imagine how large that would be if it had support for EVERY SINGLE FEATURE ever developed for Android devices!), have a program which, after the initial setup wizard, detects and downloads the necessary components for your device over the internet via some cloud-based server, then installs those components, restart if needed, and voila! You have a working ROM installed on your Android device. Very much like what Ubuntu, Debian, Mageia, and other Linux-based OSes do when not all the components required are supplied by the live CD or USB image.
What do you all think?
Ah, yes. this old thread. How popular it was back then... Well, at least I got an avatar out of that April Fool's joke.
Hi,
We make a Debian based Linux distribution that runs as an application on top of Android.
We recently ported our distribution to the Lenovo Tab P11 plus. This is a 11 inch midrange
tablet with an optional keyboard case as well as support for 6GB memory. This combination
makes for a sleek and light Linux laptop. Our free evaluation version also includes detailed
instructions to root this device. However do this at your own risk as we are not responsible for any damages.
Visit volkspc.org for more information.

Does this work on P11 Pro 2022?
No, it will only work with P11 plus which is model TB-J616F.
Nice work. Please make this available also for J716F tablet which I think is the most popular and strong in the p11 tablet family.
I would be interested in this for the J716F as well
Sorry only TB-J616F.
Why don't you mainline it? You'll have a much faster and true Linux experience.
If I want Linux on Android I just set up a chroot in Termux for free.
(TB-J716F can run mainline btw)
Mainlining this kernel is a big project that we have no interest in tackling. But I hope both MediaTek and Qualcomm will do so with their respective kernels. Our distribution runs on top of the existing kernel and Android installation.
We just made a new release and added support for the official Lenovo detachable keyboard with touchpad.
Our Linux desktop is now based on Debian Bookworm XFCE 4.18. We also provide a SDK so that users can build their own custom Debian Bookworm based image. More details at volkspc.org.
Looks like Lenovo made a new release TB-J616F_S240155_230210_ROW and our software continues to work on this version as well. If you have Lenovo's Rescue and Smart Assistant you can still upgrade your firmware.
Welp, I'm desperate.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Young S6310T, my first phone ever, and decided to move back to it, as I got addicted to my modern phone. I thought that it's minimalistic abillities will help me be more focused on my uni classes and all that, to some extent I was right. That being said I still have many issues, but let's focus on the main two:
The stable CyanogenMod 11 is android 4.4 (KitKat), and no longer supports WhatsApp (and will completely shut down the support later this year). I sadly need this app in order to communicate with everyone in my life.
[KK][4.4.4] CyanogenMod 11.0 for S63xx (Unofficial CM11 Nightly 20160724) https://mega.nz/file/QY5kQTRY#fbeUkXlxuyS6M6IwVSKalygqNsfFVOzkLNb2HP7nBNc
The Beta CyanogenMod 12 is an abandoned project that IS android 5.0.2, and thus I could use WhatsApp on it, but because it's an abandoned beta it is super buggy, constantly randomly restarts, the SD card isn't recognized, and the SIM card recognizes the network, but will not connect, nor call.
[LP][5.0.2] CyanogenMod 12.0 for S6310 (Unofficial CM12 Beta1 20160627) https://mega.nz/#!kMRmWZTC!qk3OQwVSeeGssUzLXDPZprcW3VqpA2QUzWs_KrUmOBU
I don't know what else to do, and I looked a lot to see if there's a ROM I missed, but now I'm just desperate...
I could try and take a crack at finishing the code, but I don't know where the source code is.... nor if any other phone with the same processor got a mod I can copy lines from...
Thanks for your help, any help,
really
