Remove date from Pixel 2 home screen?

Is it possible to remove the date and weather area on the pixel 2 home screen? It takes up a full row!

I also want this defeated.. maybe via substratum???

Nope, you will need to switch to another launcher, like Nova.

Nova has been sluggish for me. I'm not sure why.

Yeah that's odd. Nova has been perfect for me. @upperbladez There's also Lawn Chair Launcher on XDA that's a modified Pixel Launcher. You could try that. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/lawnchair-customizable-pixel-launcher-t3627137

I've heard other launchers are slow or buggy. Can you comment on the stability of it?

I haven't tried that one. Personally I use Nova and have been for years. It's always been stellar for me.

My main complaints with Pixel Launcher was that clock app as well as the inability to remove the Google bar at the bottom. I took people's recommendations here and tried Nova Launcher. No complaints...I even decided to pay for Nova Prime so I could enable the gestures and love the 2-tap screen off, using the home button to launch settings, and the swipe down to pull the quick settings. I haven't noticed any notable lag and it doesn't appear to use that much more memory than the Pixel launcher did.

Second Nova. I bought the full version years ago, and it's fantastic.

Well I've been using Nova for years with prime. It's my go to launcher. But lately for some reason. After a day or two. There's this Nast y stutter when I open apps. When I use pixel launcher, it's smooth like it's supposed to be. Even if I close the app and open it right after it still does it. Those things bug me..lol no oun intended. So I'm just waiting for the next update. I was gonna set it up right now without the beta. I'll report back.

Anyone know a launcher which will hide the navbar. I know lineage OS has the option to hide status and/or navbar.. I don't feel like using the adb hack to go immersive mode, would be nice if a launcher offered the option

I wonder if they'll allow you to remove it in Android P. Some things they do are so illogical I don't get it.

I have DP-3 and it is still there. Things will change with the final 9.0 release but it looks like this is here to stay.

Is this still unale to be removed on android 9? I need to update but have to root it so I'm being lazy.

It's there permanently by default, though of course there are many apps that allow you to toggle immersive mode without root so if you want to hide it it's very simple to do so.

Bug when using custom launchers

Is anyone else having issues using any custom launcher from the Google play store? For example, when Nova is installed and set as the launcher, when going home from an app the animation leads to a strange overlay with both the Nova and stock launcher on the display. I've attached a photo to illustrate the issue. It's worth mentioning that I'm on the latest stock China rom, nothing done to the phone at all.

I had the same issue. It was resolved after I did a reboot.

Delete data/cache of miui launcher from app menù is better

You guys should try the pocophone launcher on play store. It works great

Pocophone launcher is nice... but it lacks the Google feed integration. Otherwise I would use it.

Action launcher is good and has the Google feed, smooth and good customisation

Never had this issue on any Rom and I'm using nova launcher since I got the device.

I have never had that issue. However, using a custom launcher and trying to change the lock screen background doesn't seem to work on custom launchers unless you are using a theme. If you change the lock screen background though on the default launcher and then switch launchers, it does stick.

Adding Google feed to OnePlus Launcher

Hello,
Long time Pixel user, just switched over. I'm looking for the easiest way to add the Google now feed to the Pixel launcher. Can anyone tell me the easiest way of going about this?

Search for rootless launcher on play store!

Nova launcher is your best bet. Works very good with nova companion. Lawnchair is also very good only less custumisation with lawnchair.

I recommend rootless launcher as well, looks very very similar to stock oneplus launcher.

I think lawnchair v2 is precisely what you are looking for.

If you want to use the OnePlus Launcher, just add the Google App shortcut to your homescreen. Simple, easy, effective.

Rootless Launcher(Play Store) with Rootless Pixel Bridge V3 apk(Google Search). Install the Launcher from the Play Store, Set it as the default Home screen. Then install the Rootless Pixel Bridge apk. Reboot.
You will need to enable the feature in the Homescreen settings window before it will work...
I also use the Xperia Clock widget to go with it(Digital Clock Widget Xperia) from the Play Store. I turn off the date and weather on it, just to get the minimilst clock.

I use it on my 7 Pro, it works fine, play store wants to update it but as long as auto update is disabled you'll be fine

No bull****, I just got my US T-Mobile model, and right out of the box (with zero updates), the home screen settings give you the option for both the OnePlus "shelf", but also the Google Feed. I just long pressed the home screen, select settings, then "left most screen", and finally select Shelf or Google App. Viola.See the attached screenshots.

Well that sucks for us international OnePlus owners. We don't have that option...
Anyway we can get the T-Mobile launcher??

TMobile OnePlus 7 Pro over here, the version that we have is version 3.3.3.190513214235.cea38c0.

OPPO also blocks third-party Launcher, at least in the CN version. You can only deactivate the original launcher.

Me too. Only thing it doesn't allow from 3rd party - that I've noticed so far, is the Clone App feature

I installed nova launcher first and then used abd to uninstall com.oppo.launcher .
Nova launcher started, but the task button and gestures did not work.
How did you switch without problem?

Not sure how you'd do it without the oppo launcher being installed. I just made Nova Launcher the default when asked. Try App Management, Default Apps

My find x2 pro is probably the Chinese version.
On default app in app management, i can't show choice for system apps.
So I'm looking for other way to change it with adb etc.

I had the CN x2, but the restrictions were too big and I sold it again. 1. I hope that there will be a root as soon as it falls below 1000 euros in Europe and is therefore affordable for more people. Had my search, because of Nova, found this and it went pretty well. Only important for the CN version

I contacted Oppo's support about third party launcher. They seems suprised it is not possible to use another one. They will look deeper in this issue as , for the moment, it is not possible to select another launcher as homescreen in default apps, for chinese rom.
I hope they will deploy a fix for it

Finally, Oppo's support just answered me that this feature is not supported by this device.
I am quite disappointed and think about selling this great phone in order to go to another brand ( maybe oneplus 8 pro )....

It's supported on non-CN models. Only CN locks out launcher switch. Same with the 5 autostart Apps.

Which feature is not supported?

you can't chnage the laucnher unless you adb the phone and uninstall it, and then the buttom gestures don't work.

Best Launcher for 4a?

I love the pixel Launcher but i want to try something different ,always use Nova but ITS unestable .
Any recomendation?
I use evie Launcher,only 2 bugs already spotted.

Unstable? Hardly. Been using Nova Prime since day 1 (late Aug) on this device with both A10 and A11. As have many others. Look closer to home for a fix to the (your device config) stability issue.

Nova here too, no issues other than maybe one in 10 days the Google Feed background changes to white. Restarting Nova fixes it for another week or two.

Nova here, too. I have never experienced instability.

Nova is king. I've had Nova on all of my phones going back to the Note 2 quite some time ago. I'm actually holding off on installing it this time around on my P4a and trying to get used to stock.

I used Nova for years but going back to the Pixel I been trying the native launcher.
I like it, but I can not resize or skin icons and for this reason may go back to Nova Launcher.

Lawnchair 2 is my recommendation. Very similar to Pixel Launcher, but customisable and free.
Although no update for nearly a year could be an issue for some.

Square Home if you like the look of windows mobile.

I have been using Microsoft Launcher. Love that the apps are grouped alphabetic by letter. If Nova could do that I'll switch to Nova though.

Not well suited to Android 10+ navigation metaphor; increasing number of unresolved issues; not updated since late 2019. Launcher (like underlying device/os/rom) should not be a focal point.

I use the beta version of lawnchair2. No issues.
In the past was NOVA Prime. Not sure why I switched, but these are my top 2 go to's.

when i do the upswipe to leave an app and want to open another one after that then sometimes i have a stutter, as if the launcher did a little restart.
do you have this too?

Haven't see that (yet). Might be app and/or device config specific.

I got Smart Launcher 5.5 on my Pixel 4a
No Problems so far.

Can someone do this setup and give steps here please...
