Google Phone/Dialer? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Just curious if anyone has tried to get the google dialer on the OP7P ?
I'm a former pixel owner and loving my new device, but missing the dark theme and call screening that the native google dialer offered up.
Also wondering if that would let my visual voicemail work on Mint mobile.

I've not tried but I have seen magisk modules that should do the job.
On an aside, if you have the dark theme set in OOS Settings, Display then the OnePlus Dialer and Contacts will be pure black so takes care of one issue?

You can install the latest APK from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-phone-v14-0-175904292-bubble-t3708218
I have it with dark mode and it's great.

You still need the Google Dialer Framework Magisk module, right? Or not any more? I've been using Google Dialer and always installed the module first.

I tried it and had no voicemail tab on Verizon
Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk

I have the dialer installed.
It works and O had to install the framework with Magisk.
I don't use Verizon VM so the tab is useless to me anyway

Same for me. Magisk Module and Dialer APK with dark mode

I've been trying to get call screen working for ages. I've simply given up.

I have it working fine, no rope, no magisk, no Google framework.

Pixel 3XL over here with the OnePlus 7 Pro. Natively, your dialer can be dark themed via settings. The call screening, however, is a Pixel 3 exclusive I believe.

[REQ] Inverted Moto Gallery

Anyone bothered or attempted this at all? Any ideas? Everything else on my phone is black, but then when I open my Gallery, BAM! White background! I've been using QuickPic for a while, so I didn't really care, but I'd really like to start using the stock Gallery. Anyone care to tackle inverting this?

Amalgamation lol. And yes that includes Dialer and Contacts, although I am using Google Dialer, which is EXACTLY like ours except it has the Google caller ID/search. I found inverted Google Dialer and Contacts in the Nexus 5 Themes & Apps forum, and one of the guys in there was kind enough to fine tune it for my Moto X. I also managed to find the old BAKED Mms.apk with full theming capabilities. Then I used a combination of GravityBox KK and XBlast in Xposed to black out the framework and SystemUI. I get most of my other inverted apps from Kryten2k35 (creator of UltimaROM) and Team Black Out. It took some work, and definitely some cherry-picking, but the result is pretty sweet. Stock rooted Moto X completely blacked out... except for my stock Moto Gallery app, of course lol.

Ahh gotcha. Well if you unlocked and rooted you could request Nitro to add to to his dark theme, but you need to be running his eclipse ROM first

Thanks, but I'm on Sprint, so none of the ROMs currently available will work 100% for me. That's why I've just been sticking to stock rooted.

Here's what I have. Be aware that I saw some people saying that one or the other wasn't working for them. Idk why. They're both working perfectly for me. Rename Dialer.apk, Dialer.odex, Contacts.apk, and Contacts.odex to .bak. Then move the ones I've uploaded to /system, fix permissions to rw-r--r--, then move to /system/priv-app. Should be all good.

I've tried to get contacts to work so many time and it never does. I've given up. Dialer works great though. A black he gallery would be nice to. Inverted nearly everything one my moto.

The contacts.apk is fickle. I KNOW that one works, because I've managed to install it twice. But I did also have some trouble in between those two installations where it wouldn't show up. Idk what the actual issue is. I just kept at it until it worked. My best advice is to keep trying it with various combinations of rebooting, wiping cache and/or dalvik. All it takes is getting lucky one time and once the install actually sticks, you're laughing.

I've got QuickPic, which is, IMHO, the best 3rd party Gallery app there is. I just wanted to go stock and eliminate the need for a 3rd party gallery. Thanks though.

Samsung Dialer?

hi, samsung g935f dialer how to Change miui dialer ?
Install an alternate dialer from Google Play Store that is similar to MIUI one. There's no easy way to replace the embeded dialer as it's tied to other parts of the ROM (call ui, system ui, framework res, and so on)

call screen, does not change ?
Call screen is usually separate from dialer. In some ROMs they are even different apks.
If you install a different dialer, usually just the contacts/dialer is changed, the call screen (incall ui) remains the stock one. In order to have that changed, you need to be rooted and have several other things replaced. Also a different incall ui has to be generated at ROM build time as it is depending on system ui and framework res. You can't just replace files from another ROM.

is there any other dialer mod according to S7 edge ? my telephone is rooted.

Everytime I make a call, there is a notification (unread call) in call history (the middle tab). Do you have that too?

Nope, only for missed calls. Try to set all the permissions for the app and set it for default dialer if you haven't done this already.

That is strange. All permissions are set and Phone app is on default. Still when making a phonecall I get an unread count in call history. Running stock 6.0.1 + root

Google dialer

Here's a working dialer for those interested.

No root. Set as default dialer and it works like a charm.

Nice find, thanks! I had another one installed, but the local search was not working. This one works great.
Keeps force closing for me any ideas how to resolve?

Force closed after I gave it permissions to "make and manage phone calls"
Works great for me. Thank you.
I had to set it as default and give it add permissions to keep it from force closing.

Fantastic! Hated the Samsung dialer interface. Thanks alot.
Works on my s8+ but the caller ID doesn't
Thanks! Everything works except for missed calls notification. Any suggestions?

I was about to install but while I like this dialer design over Samsung's the main reason I was going to switch for the better caller ID. Would love to find an elegant solution to this.

Substratum List

Figured we could get this going, seeing as only the fingerprint substratum theme is listed here.
What themes are you using with the OP7P successfully?
Also, are there any that change some system UI elements, like center clock for example?
Pitch Black. Works perfectly for me except for Clock and Messages (blacked out but no accent colour seems to load).
I had tried VaLeRie which usually works with OOS but it just seemed to keep restarting the systemui, will wait to see if the dev confirms updated for OP7Pro, more difficult now that G+ got the Thanos snap.
RENOVATE ICE will let you move the clock as well as other modifications.
You all should check out Swift Installer on the Play Store. It's a Substratum theme, but with a lot more options.

Substratum has been like that with Pie for a while, restart and go back in and the list of themed apps will probably be in there, make sure you've allowed Substratum the permissions to install apps.

This. Best money I ever spent.
I use a combination of themes
Belo for everything except system ui and settings as it's not officially compatible with OOS
Flux white to fill in the gaps Belo left
And a couple of overlays from Outline
Flux, Flux White, Swift Dark, and Swift Black. All work nice.
sorry my ignorance, root is needed for substartum on op7pro?

I don't think it uses other themes, it makes it's own depending on the options you choose, there's a couple of Substratum apps that do the same.

Why is phone coming with Google Dialer and not OOS dialer?

Why has OPO dumped their own OOS caller for Google phones app?

The contacts app, totally sucks. It's the most unreadable app out there. The sms app, looks too stuffed for a simple sms app. Avoid. And yes, the probablity of them to phone home is high.
