Can those who have come from a note 8,please share your thoughts and views, on what you miss, performance wise etc, now that you are using the pixel 2 thanks.
Miss the ability to use themes and select a different font. And nothing can beat the Samsung OLED panels! I don't miss the S-Pen that much though!
In short, the Note 8 is crammed with features and sometimes can come in the way of your working. I find the Pixels smoother to work with and just allow me to get what I need done. I probably wasn't the right demographic for the Note 8 anyway!

I have to agree here. I have a Note 8 review unit currently, and I haven't been able to put my Pixel 2 down since getting it. The camera is much better, and aside from a few nuances, I'm overall very happy with my choice.
I'm almost ready to upgrade and currently using an S7 edge. I torn between the Note 8 and either of the Pixel's did dropping in screen size take time to adjust?

I was honestly torn between the S8, Note 8, and Pixel 2. I think they're all great devices with pros and cons, and a great deal just depends upon personal taste. I'd highly recommend walking into a Best Buy or other store with these models on display, and take some time to play around with them.
One thing I will admit regarding the Note 8 is how surprised I was with its size. The Note 8 certainly has a large display, but I didn't find the device to be as unwieldy as I had expected. I also found the fingerprint reader to be far easier to use than I had assumed (I'm right-handed, and hold the devices with my left hand).
My only concern is how the Note 8 would feel in a pocket all day. I already have a great tablet that I use all the time (Kindle Fire HDX), so my phone is simply my "Go everywhere with me at all times device". I'd certainly be interested to hear from others how it feels with constant carry in pants or coat pockets, but IMHO I imagine the Pixel 2 being far easier to have on oneself 24/7 as opposed to a Note 8.
Substratum themes work on Pixel 2

For me personally the note 8,has been the fastest phone I have ever used. I know others don't have much care about the headphone jack, but for me it's just convinient to have. I listen to a lot of music, play games and watch movies on my phone so not having the headphone jack is a deal breaker for me.
I have been torn as well.
I wanted Pixel XL but it's screen issues put me off. Pixel 2 small big bezels, wasn't sure coming from 6p.
Ordered S8...
Stunned with the display but that's about it... Camera - front crap so much worse than 6p, rear - could capture nice pic but 6p was much more reliable in this matter.
Overall smoothness wasn't somehow great, still full of Samsung crap,. Fingerprint scanner is a joke, location, accuracy and speed.
After one day of owning it I have sent it back
...
And bought Pixel 2!
What an amazing experience. Super smooth, amazing camera, great display but tad small although appreciate one handed use so much!
Speakers could have some more bass.
You can't go wrong with Pixel. Great phone;

Hmm if the pixel is much smoother then it's definitely out of this world. I have found my note 8,to be very smooth as for the first time ever I have not bothered installing a custom kernel or any kernel tweaking app. I am using it stock , just rooted but it's been great. Maybe one more point is the fact that mine is the Exynos version so it might help explain why it's been performing great. I am however always on the lookout for a fast phone so might just try the pixels.

On some levels Id say OP7 pro is better for sure. Faster internal storage, faster overall user experience, faster updates, no camera hole, 90 hz screen. Its definitely cheaper as well if that matters
But the cameras (front and rear) won't match the S10, no external storage, only 256gb of internal storage compared to 512 and 2tb on S10. No wireless charging, no IP rating (bucket of water hardly counts) lol.
It will certainly not destroy the S10 that's for sure.
Samsung wins in the camera department by far
Now it depends what do you prefer

Yes I agree, The camera part of the Oneplus is a bit weak compare to the S10 series.
TL;DR: Go for OnePlus 7 Pro. Easy choice.
Personally I think Samsung's flagship devices are a waste of money. Before you read on! I'm not fully updated on all of what I'm going to complain about, so it might've changed!
To me, Samsung has nothing unique to offer, yet their devices are almost as expensive as an iPhone. Which in my opinion is insane. Samsung offers a ****ty version of Android that looks **** (think it actually looks better now than it did before), full of bloat; it doesn't even let you uninstall Instagram. Personally I'm not a huge fan of their self-made apps either. In my opinion, it would be better to spend that money on an iPhone, which at least offers something unique (being iOS).
When it comes to OnePlus. They seem to have a great vision when it comes to how they do things. One of the things I really like with them, is that you're allowed to root the phone, and you won't void warranty. Though, to lots of people, rooting isn't very major. However, their version of Android is very nice. It is close to stock Android, has close to no bloat. The bloat that it has, you can uninstall (with root). Their hardware is very nice, and now more than ever with their new OnePlus 7 Pro (OP7P). Then the price you pay is less than any other phone with same specs.
When it comes to camera, there might be better options. However, OP7P has a very decent camera, and when someone ports the Pixel camera app to work on OP7(P), it will (probably) improve the camera greatly.
I own both the 7 Pro and the S10+
This is coming from someone who hasn't owned a Samsung since the Note 4 and has owned almost every OnePlus device.
While the 7 Pro is a really good phone the S10+ is just better. The only things better on the 7 Pro is the screen scrolling, OnePlus gestures (best Android gestures hands down), UFS 3.0 storage, and screen off gestures.
The fingerprint reader is faster on the 7 Pro but the fingerprint reader on S10+ works when your fingers are wet, and you don't need to wake the screen to use it.
I do like the size of the 7 Pro (I like bigger phones) but in-hand the S10+ feels better, 7 Pro is thicker than the S10+.
Samsung's new One UI is nothing like the old Touchwiz. The S10+ has so many customization option it's not even funny. I have found no reason to want to root the S10+ (coming from someone who has rooted every single phone they have owned).
7 Pro camera is ok but the camera on the S10+ is good if not great (not Pixel great).
I had the s10 and returned it. The finger print sensor on it was not working consistently. Samsung has too much bloatware for me and didn't see a major difference from my pixel 2 xl. Only good thing about Samsung is Samsung pay. Op 7 so far I'm loving it. It depends on what you are looking for. I don't really care for camera and I'm not worried about getting some water on the phone. Also i don't use wireless charging. The specs on op7 are ridiculous for the price. Plus op7 will get the latest updates including Q faster than Samsung phones.
I have a one question.which the op7 display quality compare the s10+?

OP7 is water proof though, they just didn't care to pay for the IP-certification.
I have the ceramic 10+ it is lovely but I will say that the 7 pro looks terrific, Oxygen OS and the fast updates are tempting and I am not expecting Q anywhere near the 10+ until 2020. The camera edge is probably still just with the 10+ and the expandable storage too but other than that the 7 pro is a compelling package for sure, well almost…..
….For me though an always on display and wireless charging are important features, I could probably do without wireless charging but with them marketing it as a pro model it really should have been included IMO. As for the always on display with so many OEMs offering this now that there is no reason for me to consider OP until they do too. I get that some people do not rate this feature but me it has fast become a must-have.

How does the 10+ camera compare to your Pixel 2 XL? I've just come from a Pixel 2 XL to the 7 Pro and the difference is huge, there is a lot of hope riding on GCam turning this camera around - i've got a 15 day window to return the 7 Pro and it will be going back if there isn't progress on the camera front (and then possibly going the S10+ route if the camera is any better).

Well the main sensor is pretty good on the 7 pro, we don't know about the other sensors (wide, tele) though. It might get better in the future, because the main sensor is pretty good and the weakest part seems to be the software for now. Also, you can't film with the wide angle lens on the 7 pro, and we don't know if that will be possible in the future. That's the reason why I will wait 1 more month until I decide which phone I will buy. The worst case: I have to wait until Google releases their pixel 4 because I can't stand the design of the pixel 3 XL.
I have the S10+ and have a OP7 in the box right now, probably switching over.
S10+ still lags if not rebooted every couple of days for me.
Exynos camera is meh and so is standby time.
I like the S10 but it didn't live up to the hype, want a phone I don't have to baby
Snapdragon is a different story from what I've read
The OS and notchless screen are huge selling points for me.
Won't really miss wireless charging too much, don't use the SD slot as I have 2 Sims.
Agree, being shortchanged with the exynos has left a sour taste this year.
I'm just not sure I could lose an AOD, especially as the is no led. I tried before and it bugged the hell out of me. I am though still very tempted!

I caved and purchased the OP 7pro so now have both and 2 weeks in and I am conflicted on the OP7 vs the S10+.
The OP is a beast and I have found it more of a burden to carry and use than my S10+, it also makes an iPhone Xs max look small! I have also missed the always on display, wireless charging a little but no big deal. I’d also say that outside the extra brightness of the Samsung makes it easier to see, again no biggy. I prefer pretty much everything else about the OP7 Pro though and one thing I have noticed (and have posted this over on the S10 forum) is how much better the radio performance is on the OP7, I think this may be more down to the S10+ being bad than the OP7 being really good but at my work for example the S10 clings to 1 bar of 4G and often drops to 3G whereas the OP7 is rock solid on 3 or 4 bars of 4G all day. I have also installed Gcam and it works really well.
I won’t comment too much on the FPS, both work ok with the OP being quicker and the S10 being maybe more convenient on account of not having to wake the screen first. I do though still prefer a rear mounted sensor like the Pixel which is IMO just a better, quicker and easier option.
Re the AOD I read that OP have said they are working on this but are still citing battery concerns, given how good and polished oxygen OS is I just do not get why OnePlus are finding it so hard to provide a proper always on display? Lots of other OEM’s have managed it, LG even managed it on an LCD screen. Anyway fingers crossed they are at least on the case now.
So overall it is a seriously good device, I do though wish it was just not quite so big.

Why does it have to be unique, I don't care about that? I care about it being a good phone, a well rounded one at that. It's hard to pack a lot of features into a cheaper phone, and often results in some corner cutting and that's what happened. The pop up camera is a DISASTER and all over China one plus has had to offer an apology and a slightly extended warranty, I'd never trust that and it collects a whole lot of dust around the top of the camera port when sitting in your pocket and such, regardless of the waterproof red ring on the top.
One UI is great, I bought the s10+ and never received Instagram, and not much bloatware at all, oneUI has almost no issues besides Bixby, which Samsung even lets you disable. OneUI has been garbage, but its great in this new phone, just look at what most reviewers have to say. The s10+ is way more well rounded then the op7 pro, which has some standout features but some pitfalls top. 90HZ is great but still isn't a huge difference and the battery life is quite poor on the OP 7 pro, I went to t-mobile and didn't notice much of a difference if at all, I did notice a difference with the 120hz razor phone though, maybe if you slow the phone down by 5x the 90 hz will have a big difference.
And you're acting like iPhones are a similar value, the hardware of iPhones in general doesn't even compare to Samsung, they're GARBAGE. Unlocked right now is a s10+ and a XR for around the same price, 880p LCD vs 1440p 4k OLED display, 18 watt vs 5 watt charger, 4100 mah battery vs 3200 mah, wide angle + telephoto lens, no giant notch and a bigger screen, slightly curved edges, headphone Jack, expandable storage, way more ram AND storage. Gtfo saying these phones are close in that regard, apple is only for iOS, why would you rather buy an iPhone. Without nova launcher, Samsung offers LOADS of customization. Also real world pricing is 29$ for a OP 7 pro a month with t-mobile which is the only seller in the US, sprint is 25$ for a s10+ with upgrade plan and all, which makes a lot more sense then spending way more to buy a phone outright vs only paying half price then upgrading to the latest and greatest phone of your choosing, keep in mind most people use carrier plans so this is the more realistic example. Oh and no wireless charging with the OP 7 pro, IP rating, headphone Jack, expandable storage, etc.

Biased much?
S10+ is about €50 more expensive so it's basically in the same league price wise.
I'm currently using Note 8 but I'm sick of Samsung. However, battery life is important and I read that OnePlus 7 Pro doesn't have a good battery life.
I had an s10+ (that I returned) and found battery life to be very similar between the two.
I'm enjoying the 7pro a lot more because I value the notchless screen, performance, and software. That said, the cameras on the s10 are definitely better.
it just depends what you care about more, for me personally camera and wireless charging is a plus for s10 but the notch less display, a bigger display, a fingerprint scanner that works a lot faster, Oxygen OS outweigh the benefits from S10 but I barely ever take any pics and found alternate solutions for wireless charging.
The S10 has a much better camera experience, IP rating(if that matters to you) and Wireless charging.
Oneplus has a better overall software experience. Not saying Samsung is bad because it is not, Samsung has come a long way from touchwiz and oneui is enjoyable. Oneplus's oxygen OS is just very smooth and fast especially with the 90hz screen
Rooting is easy with Oneplus. Not so much on the S10
Updates ate quicker and more frequent on Oneplus devices.
I usually find my sim card in the s10 because of the wireless charging and better camera.
Oneplus has better system software for the most part, S10 is going to beat it in nearly every other category hardware wise. At the same price the s10+ would be hard to pass up and get the Op7
Same price, S10+ for me no questions asked (this is coming from someone who as owned almost every OnePlus device and not had a Samsung since the Note 4). I own both phones and the S10+ is my daily driver, 7 Pro is my backup.
It really depends on what you're looking for in a phone. While the 7 Pro feels a little faster (not much) OneUI on the S10+ offers a lot more options (and is so much better than TouchWiz was). Really the only thing the 7 Pro has over the S10+ is the 90hz screen, screen size, no notch/hole punch, charging speed, and 3.0 memory.

They do on the international variants...
I switched from the S10+ to the OP7 Pro because I was hating the punch hole but to be honest I'm thinking on returning the OP7 Pro.
Choppy scrolling on all browsers I've tried, completely opposite of smooth. S10+ was way smoother. Extremely poor LTE signal on T-Mobile, can't stream anything over 480p. Chin bigger than in advertisements/renders. Can't play any video on anything over 1.5x, have a lot of audio cut offs and too many dropped frames. 90% of my use is web browsing and watching videos at 2x so these are deal breakers for me.
I'm also struggling to give up Always on Display and wireless charging and I prefer S10+ screen's colors and the subtle curves with much less glare I just hate the punch hole so not sure what to do yet.
Performance wise are similar but animations are smoother on OP7 Pro. I could not go back to Note 9 since that one is now too slow for me.

Do they charge extra for that? I only found one that said "HD 24 Hours Pass" and it costs $3 per day.
It may be my area though, when I had my sim on the S10+ it had no problems at all streaming 1080p or even 2k videos at all.
OP7 Pro starts streaming at like 360p and I have to manually change it to at leats 720p but it stops A LOT to buffer.

And no I'm not being throttled to 480p, if I insert the sim on the S10+ I can stream 1080p or 2k without any issues. It might be my area though. I also have the international version of the OP7 Pro and I heard rumors that it didn't have band 71 but I'm not sure.

S10+ beats the OnePlus 7 Pro in nearly every category hardware wise? Hardly. Best screen, OP7P. Fastest UFS storage, OP7P. Best speakers, in my opinion, OP7P. Headphone jack, obviously S10+. Cameras are subjective, especially with pending software updates, but I do believe that Samsung oversaturates their pictures way too much. Build quality is a tossup, as both smartphones are beautiful in their own right. Both feature an SD855 processor. Everything else is a tie.

I have both and it really is swings and roundabouts.
The OP is faster at pretty much everything, I prefer the near stock experience and knowing I'll get Q probably in the autumn vs 2020 on the S10+
I have the ceramic S10 and it probably is a nicer device in the hand and slightly easier to manage, I also miss the always on display and wireless charging. I would imagine the non-ceramic S10+ is even easier to manage on account of being lighter.

Thanks for the replies all.
The main reason 7 Pro is attractive is that notchless big screen with a 4000mah battery and easy root.
The rest is not so important.
However I think I might just wait and see what happens next year.
Note 8 is still quite powerful. Just that battery life...

The big notchless screen was my main attraction to the OP7 Pro as well but I finally decided today that I'll return it and go back to the S10+. There's just too many little details (bugs and missing things) that add up and make the overall usability worse. The only scenario I've found the OP7 Pro better was when watching videos in the night because I hate the pucnh hole but other than the hole, the screen on the S10+ is better (better more vivid colors, brighter, more subtle curves and waaay less glare, better viewing angles without much color shifting, it's super amoled so glass is glued to screen and looks as if there had not glass at all, while OP7 Pro looks like if you were looking through a window, not sure how to explain it but noticed the same with my ex-Mate 20 Pro when comparing with my ex-Note 9)

Uh all oleds are that way. It's how the technology is ? it's probably the screen protector making it look different .
Usability worse? Sorry so many fanboys on these forums just looking for anything to moan about

Removing the screen protector of my Op7 pro was the fiedt thing I did, I hate screen protectors. It's the calibration, quality (even though both are samsung branded the one of the S10+ is more expensive even though it's smaller because of something) and because AMOLED vs glass separated from display. I don't know what you mean with "all OLEDS are that way, that's how technology is" yeah all of them have color shift and all of them are prone to burn in but color shift is A LOT less noticeable on my S10+ unless I tilt it to extreme unusable angles.
Yes usability is worse, I can get things done easier and faster on the S10+ even though animations are "smoother" and apps load 0.5 seconds faster on OP7 Pro. If I was a samsung fanboy I wouldn't even have bought the OP7 Pro, I just try to buy the best phone in the market for my usage no matter the brand and I truly though this was gonna be the close to perfect phone but they are still cutting a lot of corners. I'll try again with the OP8 Pro.
Please delete. Ain't going to waste my time
I'm going to be straight forward:
I'm a little sick of One UI and I really miss Oxygen OS. I've felt in love with the 90hz display and the almond color but I didn't really used the phone.
I have just this questions:
Which is the best in BATTERY LIFE?
Which is the best in CAMERA? (after the most recent update)
Which is the best in ERGONOMY?
Which is the best in AUDIO? (I don't care about the headphone jack)
People that have made the switch OP7Pro -> S10+ or S10+ -> OP7Pro, can you tell me your reasons?
THANK YOU!

I own both.
Battery: about the same maybe leaning towards the S10+
Camera: S10+
Ergonomics: S10+ (much nicer phone to hold)
Audio: toss up
I get bored with phones really easily so rooting the 7 pro does have its advantages but if you're not going to root the S10+ is just a better phone.

I'm going to root the OP7 Pro if I get bored, I can''t root the S10+ due to warranty...
Is the S10+ better than the OP7 Pro using the Gcam? I can't install gcam on the S10+ because I own the Exynos model.

Hard to say as there are a lot of different GCam versions and so far I haven't found one I prefer over the stock 7 pro camera. The latest update really helped the stock 7 Pro camera.
Not to say a great version isn't out there for the 7 Pro but all the ones I have tried I prefer the stock camera.
I own the US Snapdragon version S10+ so no root for me either. Unrooted vs. Unrooted the S10+ has way more customization available. It's honestly the first phone I haven't felt the need to root.
This is coming from somebody who hasn't owned a Samsung since the Note 4 and has owned almost every OnePlus.
The biggest advantage is rooting, unlocking the bl etc.
If that's not important to you, you lose many features like
Wireless charging (I don't care tbh)
No IP rating (not even because of water, but because of dust. I don't trust OP in that regard, an ip rating would've been better - especially since the camera is a moving part that might let some dust in when the rubber is worn out).
No always on display (bummer for me, others don't care)
Filming in wide angle
And a very important point: The display of the s10 plus is the brightest of all flagships.
But rooting is very important to me, so I have no alternative to the OP7 pro.

1. With 90hz + FHD my 7P appears to be close to the US S10+. Mine has been used for < 24hrs, therefore I can't point out a winner. With my S10+ I regularly hit 10hrs SOT, sometimes a bit more with lighter usage or 7-8 with heavy.
2. S10+ with an altered gcam config will win, no doubt about that. I grabbed some sweet shots on mine. I'll test the 7P at some point.
3. In-hand there's no mistaking the premium device. Not to say the 7P is bad, it's just playing in another league.
My transition from Samsung to 1+ can be reduced to root, as well as longevity. Although it's also true that reception was awful for me, whereas the 7P posts better dbm values.

Unfortunately I can't use gcam (well, I kinda can but it's worse than the stock camera) with the S10+. I intend to use the OP7 Pro with 90hz and FHD as I use the S10+ with FHD.
Please, update me with some battery stats after
I was using Samsung phones since galaxy s2 till galaxy s8+. I switched to OnePlus 7 Pro for one main reason. Better display. First of all it is 90hz fluid amoled vs very good display on S10+ but:
1. 60hz
2. Punch holed
I know that some people do not see the difference between 60 - 90hz to be honest not sure why but maybe they do not want to see it and also I know many people think that punch hole is great option. I want to use full potential of the screen. I have returned every TV and monitor with single burned pixel. I just can not stand any form of notch or hole.
That is why I did not buy Galaxy S10+
If you do not care about phones display and you can accept punch hole and if you accept that your phone will start to work slower and slower every month( intentional phone silting) and you can not root it go for s10+
OnePlus made a huge impression on me with fluid work and it is very close to IOS experience which I had sometime ago.

I have both phones also and I have to say I prefer the 7 pro. The camera is definitely not as good to me, I think the 7 pro has a better battery life ( that may just be due to my personal use) for ergonomics, I'd have to give that to the OnePlus and for audio they seem about the same to me
So all in all I think if you don't care about pics as much then I think the 7 pro is a better choice. (Pics are essential to me so I need Both). My sim card is mostly in the 7 pro ( because I live rooting and have a SD s10+)

I'm not an owner of a S10+ but I switched from Pixel 3 XL unlocked to the TMobile OnePlus 7 Pro. My best friend has the S10+ and we've done our version of a comparison. The only follow up question for you would be if your OnePlus device will be carrier locked or unlocked. If you want the 90hz refresh rate and the Oxygen OS is your cup of tea and your device will be unlocked, then I'd say go for it. Honestly those 2 things are the real difference. Yes you get the fnatic mode with the unlocked OP7Pro, as well and more RAM (if you opt for the 12GB version) but those things are minor. If your OP7Pro will be carrier locked, and rooting/unlocking the bootloader is not your jam, then I would absolutely NOT switch over to the S10+. Honestly my only regret about the OP7Pro is the fact that it's carrier locked. If I could go back, I would've purchased it unlocked for sure.

Naaah don't do it... Because the oneplus 7 is boring. Boring I mean you miss a lot of features you have in the s10+.
On the oneplus 7 there are not or nihil features as on the s10+ it feels to naked.

It really comes down to the experience you're after. I'm currently using a Note 9 and while it's a great all around phone, Samsung's OneUI really detracts from the Android experience. It took a lot of tweaks to get everything running fast and smoothly.
The advantage of the OnePlus 7 Pro is you're getting a near stock Android experience and the ability to root and install custom ROMs. Sure, the camera may not be as good, but reviewers are saying the most recent update makes the camera quite good.
It's a tough choice for sure. The Samsung gives you a complete solution out of the box with wireless charging and headphone jack. The OnePlus gives you a cleaner, smoother software experience.

The Pie update with OneUI is why I got rid of my Note 9. It doesn't matter how good a device is. It can easily be ruined by a terrible software experience.
Iv'e switched from an Exynos S9+, had some screen burn in's that wasen't covered by warrenty.
The 1+7 Pro is a real beast when it comes down to performance. As we don't have SD versions of the Galaxy devices in my country.
Also, i diden't used any of the "extra" features like wireless charging etc'.
Not to mention most of sammy's apps...
Iv'e traded my S9+ and got a really good deal on the 1+. My plan was to wait for the note 10, but the price would be really too much, since i upgrade annually.
Hi guys,
I'm currently using OnePlus 3T and after almost 3 years it's about time to buy new phone.
I'm not a gamer and I mainly use the phone for taking pictures, web and navigation.
Picture quality is the first thing I look for - it must be superb
I know that this is OP thread but I believe many of the users here switched from pixel to op.
what phone would you recommend? pixel 3a spec are outdated but maybe its still good enough for my usage for the next 2-3 years.
Do you think that OP can improve the software to match the quality of the pixel?
I've heard about the gcam porting but still the picture quality is not as good as taking photos with the pixel.
Or maybe should I wait to October where Google announces the pixel 4 and maybe the pixel 4a
Your help will be highly appreciated
Thanks
Go for OnePlus
OnePlus 7 is good, or 7 Pro if you don't mind curved edge. (I hate it)
Wait for the Pixel 4 XL since it is so close to being released. Tho i do love my OnePlus 7 pro. Pixels have the best camera.

I got use to the curved glass thanks to the Galaxy S8/9/10, just use a case and usually solves the accidental touches
pixel 4 would cost x1.5 for sure, don't want to spend too much
I really like the OP 3T so upgrading to 7 plus seems like the right choice.
What do you think about 7 vs 7 plus? the plus worth the extra penny?
Similar boat here, especially as a 3a XL can be had for £270 on EE from CeX at grade A (as new) whilst an OP7 is £500 upwards... and I do care about photo quality...
Thing is you do get much more with the OnePlus. You get IMO the better ROM - Pixel stock is nice, I've tried Pixel Experience on my old Moto G5 and it's great, but it's also quite basic. If you want things like screen recording, scrolling screenshots etc then you need third party software and have to battle with the battery saving features to stop them getting closed etc. They have a really nice balance where they add just enough genuinely useful features without turning it into bloatware. Only thing you miss out on is "Now Playing" which I must admit would be nice.
You get the in-display fingerprint reader making it way more convenient for "phone on desk" scenarios.
You get the mute slider which I've missed during my time on other phones.
You get, obviously, better and faster everything else except possibly shorter battery life (not sure, but the 3aXL is well regarded that way).
But true, there's no solid guarantee on camera quality. I know OP have a team dedicated to improving it so am having a bit of faith in it (and don't really mind installing Gcam for now if I can find a good universal install-and-forget version) but if guaranteed photo quality is of paramount importance even above all else mentioned then Pixel is the way to go. I know the dilemma very well as I've been agonising over the same thing (oh our first world problems!) but I had a 3T a couple of years ago and regret ever switching from it. It was hands down the best smartphone I've ever owned, and that past experience (plus wanting more RAM so I can e.g. keep Pokemon Go from being closed so much) is also pushing me towards the OP7, come what may. I'm not sure the camera is as 'bad' as some people make out - nerds are champions when it comes to complaining

Yeah I can't justify paying an extra £150 for 90Hz (which I don't want to get addicted to as then other screens will look bad to me and it'll end up restricting my tech purchases), telephoto lens (with so many megapixels these days, cropping or variations of AI digital zoom should be good enough for me) or wide angle lens (this I want the most and was agonising about last night, but... 150 quid.... and I can get a clip on). Other than that it's about the same device? Slightly faster charging which I'm not bothered about as Dash Charge is super fast already.
I can actually think of a couple of advantages to the non-Pro IMO. One being that the Pro apparently has quite 'aggressive' curves to the display. Now, I have an S9 currently and to be fair I think the curving on that looks quite nice and rarely notice any distortion, but from what I've seen of the 7Pro you get a more noticeable version of the greenish tint that appears from indirect viewing angles, I think it'd possibly bug me, not sure without seeing one in person.
Another being no moving parts. I'm sure the selfie camera is very well tested, but I'd rather not.
Plus... well no smartphone these days is good for one handed use, but let's say it's slightly less bad
And despite absolutely loathing notches initially, they've had this weird effect of growing on me (just as the industry is finding ways to get rid of them, lol). The teardrop actually looks quite 'cute' in my eyes.
Plus one sort of 'political' reason: I don't want to encourage OP to keep hiking prices up, or come next year they'll just be yet another manufacturer of smartphones that cost over a grand. I want to support their mid range flagship killer business.
OnePlus 7 Pro or Pixel 4. The Pixel 3a can't even compete. It also depends on how much you'd like to spend.
Google's stock OS is lacking behind OOS. It lacks any real innovations as Google is afraid of change, evidence by the lack of dark mode in apps and OS until now (5 or 6 years after it's been available in custom ROMs).
The 3xl just can't compete with the OP 7 pro. The 7 pro is faster, another, 90hz screen faster charging, larger screen and the specs are outdated in comparison (SD855, 6/8/12 gb ram and minimum of 128gb storage). The battery in mine lasts all day with heavy use and I'm averaging 9+ hours of sot.
The pixel has a slightly better camera in low light but day time shots there is no discernable difference between the 2. It also gets updates faster but 4-6 weeks difference is nothing compared to phones like Samsung which can take 6 months or longer.
So the only reasons you should buy a 3xl is the low light camera is the most important feature you can settle for or for some reason you feel that security you're are a must the instant they are out. Or you're penny pinching and can get the 3xl cheaper.
