Hallo Arjan-S,
maatje, wat dacht je nou zelf de reden is of was voor dat fout melding? hier is dé oplossing speciaal voor onze aardig maatje Arjan-S..
that is or was very normal, because you have installed an Android8 on your headunit right? Well, to be able to install an Android9 on your headunit you first had to upgrade the recovery from v8.5 (A8) to 9.5 (A9), otherwise you will never succeed, for that reason you got an error message.. got it mate?

1. Put sd card into reader
2. Open SD_Firmware_Tool.exe that was unpacked from the 'Hal9k_Mod_3.x_upgrade_to_Android_9.0.rar '
3. Choose your SD-card, then choose bootcard.img that was unpacked from 'Hal9k_Mod_3.x_upgrade_to_Android_9.0.rar'
4. Dont change any other settings. create bootcard
5. Copy sdupdate.img from the unpacked 'Hal9k_Mod_3.x_upgrade_to_Android_9.0.rar' onto the sd card. this will overwrite the sdupdate.img that is already on the sdcard.
6. Put sd card into the gps slot.
7. New recovery will be installed. After this the new recovery appears.
8. When it tells you 'done doing actions remove sd card', remove the sd card.
9. (No need to this if you use 2 sd card!) Next go back to your computer and unpack 'HA_PX5_9.0_ota (20190521).zip'
10. Format sd card (iF you use or have Only one sd card!) , copy 'update.zip' from HA_PX5_9.0_ota (20190521) onto the sd card.
11. Put sd card into the gps slot.
12. Select 'install from update'
13. Select 'from sd card'
14. Watch the show to the end on your hu display!

@Seicane-Misery why don't you create a single Android 9 thread and post all links in there. It's easier for everyone to follow, post screenshots, report bugs, etc....

Thank you very much, I now see what I did wrong. I did this from Android 7 to 8. I forgot to upgrade the recovery this time.
You helped me a lot by reminding me to do that.
I am now on Android 9, I hope that my Bluetooth works now. He sees my HU on my phone but he doesn't connect to it.
The fact that I can see it on my phone is hopeful, I will make it work somehow. Thank you for taking the time to help me on my way!

Hoi mate,
you are most welcome.. glad that it helped!!
BT tip: first, remove "all" paired devices like OBD etc from the BT and only pair your phone as first, use pin code: 1234 !
something else, try using a samsung device to pair it with it, that if you didn't succeed with your phone from the first time, I assumed your headunit has the correct BT chip onboard? otherwise is a well known problem.

I have the chipset with the problem so i cannot use bluetooth since Android 8.
I had to choice between Gmaps not working on Android 6 and 7 or no bluetooth with Android 8 or now 9.
I can live without the bluetooth, not without Gmaps so i was hoping Android 9 would solve the bluetooth problem.
It seems like i have to live with it.

Hi mate,
my experiences with this 21-05 A9 fw are: unfortunately, the stability of this oem is not working well here, with that CHS fw from 07-05-19, I could execute multiple commands at the same time, such as: download and update google apps + iGO complete folder & maps + upload files to the root of my headunit + installed software (apk's) + listen to a music while doing all this at once. with this HA new version if I wanted to do 2 things at the same time, the sys reboots itself, already experienced twice today.. for the rest is good fw for slow-working person.
success

Used Google maps today, it stopped twice in half an hour. This firmware is not really reliable yet.
Nice to test of course

Hi Seicane-Misery,
I did install the FW, the look and feel is so much better, i keep this one for now.
Google Maps starts ok, it looks a bit slow but that can be normal, i do not know for sure.
I cannot test Google maps on the road because i'm not driving until monday.
When i know more i will post it here, thank you for sharing the firmware

Perhaps announce in a single thread instead of creating new threads for every A9 you find.

thank you for the effort and for "testing" that mentioned fw version so fast, it is idd / indeed, a good fw but my eyes always wants something "beautiful UI" and well set, and the swc calls (phone) buttons didn't works wel here, it needs to be remapping as well, that's why.. I was perhaps wrong with my taste? but tastes are sometimes different.

[WORKING!] Android on XDA Orbit 2

Since I posted a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=675311 and nobody could help me. I spent the past 5 days trying to get it to work and did it successfully (through haret).
Here's how to did it:
1. Download this .RAR I put together that includes:
-Eclair
-haret
-default.txt
2. Edit the "mddi.width=320 mddi.height=480" part of the "default.txt" to your needs. (either 320/480 or 240/320)
3. Put the content of the folder "android-orbit2-eclair" to the root of your SD card so it should be something like this:
Code:
-(D:) SD Card [COLOR="Red"](root)[/COLOR]
--conf
--media
--default.txt
--haret.exe
--initrd.gz
--rootfs.img
--system.sqsh
--zImage
4. Navigate to the SD Card (start>programs>file explorer>storage card) and click on the "haret.exe"
5. Once that has loaded up click "run" (about 3 lines down on right side)
6. Just wait, Give it chance to do its thing and simple... Android running on your XDA orbit 2.
any problems, reply to this thread and I will try to fix.
Thanks, James
it dosent work on my htc touch cruise.
I click on Run, and the screen becomes gradually black, and that finished as that… nothing any more occurs.
The screen is lit, but is black, and nothing occurs.
New problem now: I have the same message than you :
Code:
sh:2: unknown operand
losetup: /dev/block/loop 1: No such file or directory
Failed
Failed to reach system.img on SD card.
Whats the problem ?

If you read the title it says for XDA orbit 2 not touch cruise.
Have you managed to get gprs/3g working with this? I can't seem to get mobile web working on my XDA Orbit II
I dont know whart u are doing here.
But i can use myns donut and eclair totally easy without modding something.
I just have to use the right "default.txt"...
Most packages you find here habe a "default-polaris.txt" in it or you use the one form myn ... It works great for the orbit 2 too
.....
But maby i dont get what you are doing here.. some special build or something?
BUt running android on orbit 2 is net a problem at all just use right conf.
-----------------------
@moondemon
Wifi works with myns eclair and donut. There are fixes (androidupdate.tar) you have to use (nomorootfs)
could u tell me which version have u installed? 1.6?
I succeeded installing the 1.6 version. but when I was trying installing the latest version, I was stucked at the screen which requires me to long-push the dpad center button. I did it but didnt work. I've even tried every keys, still didnt work.
could u give me a hand on it?
I have tried myn's and default-polaris does not work on my xda orbit 2. Also when I do get haret to run I have had trouble actually getting android to boot due to a continual "power wakeup" message. The default-polaris results in a flashing white screen for me. This config is the only config that actually works on my orbit 2.
Hello, i am just a newbie on Android for Polaris, so plz forgive me dump postings At the moment i am a bit spacy what i have to put together to work Android on my XDA2.
android-orbit2-eclair works on my XDA2 after installing but:
phone can't do outgoing calls:
3G can`t connect,
Cam/Gallery crashes
Wifi works.
Touchscreen works and all the rest.
before i installed the recent builds of froyo and eclair
System shows 10-15 min nice boot flash, then it works, but touch screen doesn`t work.
Anyway all the developers doing a great job here!
rgds Matthias
Im not using sd haret anymore. If you try with nand flash (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636024) everything works like a charm.
But as i used haret on my Orbit2 i was good with the package myn offered in her donut(or eclair im not sure).
In the package were a default.txt and a one for polaris/Orbit. I changed the polaris one to default (renaming) and it worked.
I think it was the donut package and it worked with zimages for eclair too.
Try this package if it works its worth a attemp to look into the default txt for other builds.
But atm i would suggest to give android at flash a try. Its almost perfekt for daily use if you not to much with some special programms on winmo.
As far as i read there are problems with haret atm gernerally that programms close even if install is fine.
Seems that flashing is the solution to all my problems, but
can you try to explain what makes the difference between haret and a NAND flash install relatet to the runing system?
Unfortunaley my XDA Obit2 is the carrier of my beloved navigation software. The other Wimo apps are junk compared with android. If there is a offline solution for Car Navigation on android, i could kick Wimo into the trash bin. Also i am a Linux user as well on my PC
Camera and astro application not working
Camera and astro application not working .. please help ...
xda orbit 2
I stuck these sections of
I've tried it and it seems it works, but I have a few questions and one major problem:
1. I installed the systems without the SIM card. When I started it again with SIM card, system says that the PIN I type is wrong altough I know that it's correct. How to solve it? Maybe it is so because I'm not O2 customer?
2. Is it possible to boot Android automatically without flashing NAND?
3. Can I theoretically Install Donut or Froyo using this method simply by putting different Zimage in the folder?
4. Do I have to perform another installation in case of buying a battery of more capacity? I saw that default.txt contains information about the battery.
5. May it work well If I change default.txt to the one prepared by atools?
Thanks for advance and greetings.
Double post, sorry.

How to install Manila 2012 / 2.6 manually on TG01?

Hi, where do I find a ported Version from Manila 2012/ Version 2.6 for the TG01?
I would prefer a German Version, but English would be ok, too? Is there a link?
I want to install it "manually" on the Novembre5 WM6.1 Version, due to the ram "problem" with Manila + WM6.5.5.
Any solution?

Hi there
How does it perform on windows official 6.5 pro? Ermm i want to know because i am thinking off upping the ROM but at the moment how you have to do it is complicated and i want to make sure i like that home screen? And also if its possible would anyone be kind enough to tell me how to install sense whether it be via active sync of just dropping the program in via Bluetooth etc???
Thank You

NETCFv35 (if a CockedROM don´t need)
So if Im wanting to install this on a Novembre5 ROM, do I need to install NETCFv35 or not ?

no, you don´t need NETCFv35. Novembre5 ROM has the newest NETCF3.7.
wich version of Sense you will installing?
I have installed the both versions 2011 and 2012. Although it had more free memory than FFBOY's and Aragon's Manila ROM, but the speed is very bad. I think the hundreds of manila files in Windows, the fragmented system.
but I have found a way to operate, Aragon or FFBOY Manila ROM with an average of 60 MB of RAM for. And I use the Phone Canvas not, but the standart phoneDailer. a fix is needed so you can make calls from favorites
Im installing the Megapinky 2011 version linked to from the cab on the first page of the thread.
I started to install things and reached Albumsearcher.exe and notice that Audiomanager_eng is also an .exe file.
I copied the files into the Windows directory and finished off the installatrion, but now Im getting errors on Music and Pitures tabs - saying that the files cannot be found. Im guessing Ive copied them into the wrong directory !
Can anyone tell me where Im meant to copy them ?
Thanks !
The install from this cab is a long process i need more then 30 min for it.
At the first i think that the cab doesn´t work, but later it ask after the installtion place. Then you can see that the cab works a long time. I install it over WiFi

I rebooted but still couldnt see, so I disabled sense from the home screen and rebooted again. I still cant see my SD card in file explorer, and I cant get into the settings of the phone because the option is hidden from the Windows menu.
I have tried another known working SD card in the slot but it isnt being displayed.
Can anyone suggest anything I can do to enable me to see the memory card so that I can reflash with another ROM ?

Asus Mypal A6x6 WM6.5.3 rom version 3 (6-8-10)

WARNING: This is a release of Windows Mobile 6.5.3. Due to changes to os code, SOME older programs WILL NOT WORK. By this, I mean that an older program may execute as normal, but some of the menu options might not work due to the start button being moved to the bottom of the screen instead of the top like it was with WM6.5 and older. As far as I know, this is an os thing, so I CANNOT change this.
Here's another summer rom release for WM6.5. This one is my 1st release of WM6.5.3. Due to comments recieved from my previous WM6.5 rom release thread, I have done testing of bluetooth and I can say yes, it does work. For those of you waiting on the next release of WM6.1, I will officially say that I will not release it until I figure out how to flash international roms (as this will be my 1st international release). If someone knows how to do this (for example, English is the default language for roms, but you want to flash a German rom), PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This is the only thing hanging up the release.
Thanks to Makuu (for helping to get me started), Lenny, AstainHellbring (thank you for all the nightly help sessions), the creators of the tools I used to make this rom, and anyone else that I failed to mention in name who gave me the knowledge to complete this rom.

download: http://www.easy-share.com/1910836072/Asus_A6x6_WM653_3.rar
At this time, this will be the only download link. Mirrors will be created in the future (after I give permission).
Instructions (I have included a txt file with same instructions for offline convenience)
Before you do anything, make sure you have at least a 256mb SD card and a card reader (you can get one at a place like Radio Shack or Office Depot). You also need to install winrar (found at http://www.win-rar.com/download.html). Your SD card must be formatted with the FAT16 file system.
To format your SD Card with the FAT16 file system
Step 1: To do this insert the SD Card into the reader and go to "My Computer".
Step 1a: BACKUP YOUR FILES before you start!!
Step 2: Right-click the drive letter of the SD Card reader (differs for each computer, probably either E:\ or F:\ or G:\) and click "Format".
Step 2a: Don't worry about any of the options except for file system, choose "FAT"
Step 3: Click "Start" and wait until it is done
Step 1: Get (OS) rom image
Step 2: Extract files to any folder on hard drive using Winrar
Step 3: Go to the folder where you extracted the files in the RAR archive
Step 4: Make sure that the filename is "CANNES_A_WM6.img"
Step 4a: if the img file it's not exactly "CANNES_A_WM6.img", rename it to that
Step 5: Format the SD card if you haven't already done so using the instructions above
Step 6: Copy the img file to the SD card, see step 6a
Step 6a: Make sure that the img file is the ONLY file on the SD card after formatting
Step 7: Take SD Card out of SD Card reader and put it in the a6x6
Step 8: Make sure that the a6x6 is plugged in via ac adapter before doing the next few steps
Step 9: activate SD Loader using the following instructions {
Step 9a: Hold down the power button and enter button (that's the button in the center of the d-pad)
Step 9b: Double tap the soft reset button while holding the other 2 buttons
Step 9c: After double tapping the soft reset button, keep the other 2 buttons held until a blue screen comes up that says something like Asus Cannes flashing utility
Step 9d: Wait until the process is finished (it's near the end when it says "writing private")
}
Step 10: At this point, your a6x6 should reboot on its own
Step 11: enjoy your updated rom
If you have any questions, feel free to just post or PM me.
As I release new roms, if you have a support question, please give me the rom version so I know what rom you are working with. You can get the rom version from the filename of the rom pack.
Example: Asus_A626_WM614_1
A626 = device (most often it will be A626, will rarely be different), WM614 = os version, 1 = release #

you sir Steven855, are just plain awesome. thank you I will try this one the next days.
Steven - thanks for the new version. Flashed and everything seems to be working so far without issue. I've reconfigured my SDIO barcode reader and all software and things appear to be working. I'm going to do some testing with the device going into and out of blank screen with AC power connected and disconnected. I'll report back with any problems. Thanks again!
For those of you who do run some old programs (like me), I will be coming out with a updated WM6.5 rom (which has the old configuration of start menu on top instead of bottom like this version).

Works on my A696, although I have problems connecting the WiFi to my Sitemcom AP (which can do B+G+N) and uses WPA2-PSK(AES), a WPA-PSK 11b seems to work.

And make sure you do not use a SDHC, although it works later on the flash process can't use it.
Tanks for the ROM!
Thanks for the 6.5.3 ROM !
I think this is almost a perfect ROM, no battery drains, no wakeup problems, bluetooth is working fine. The only bug what I observed is the task manager problem (not runing the task manager if wireless is not enabled in today).
Thanks again, great work.
This ROM is very good indeed but do you know how to disable the Windows Media "A SD CARD WAS DETECTED, WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY" Message when I pop in the SD? Thanks.
Can somebody point me out to a A639 6.5 ROM ? thanks

Sorry, I do not know a permanent solution (although I have seen it before). I can only offer the suggestion of making sure Windows Media Player mobile is not running (if it is running, you can kill it with the task manager) when you insert the SD card.
I'm curious; How many people like this rom's graphical interface better than the one that WM6.5 and previous versions of Windows Mobile used? Also, what programs have people using my roms come accross that work with previous versions of Windows Mobile, but don't exactly work with the new interface that comes with WM6.5.3 (and later versions)? I'm trying to compile a list of older programs for Windows Mobile that don't exactly work with the new graphical interface.
Last thing, has anyone encountered any problems with Bluetooth? I had gotten some complaints about bluetooth issues with the last WM6.5 rom that I put out, and I would like to know if those problems got fixed.
I like more the 6.5 interface, but I can exist with the new 6.5.3 too. The only program what I use and is not 100% compatible with the new 6.5.3 interface is the totalcommander for pocketpc. Any other programs what I use, can accomodate with the new interface.
My problem with this ROMs are only relative with the iGO navigation, which are using more and more memory from one versions to another, and the ROMS are using more memory then the Asus 6.0. But I observed, that if I softreset my A696 before using the navigation, the navigation working fine without any memory problems.
Is it possible to change the language of this rom? I need Polish.
I've tried to use AsusWM6Patch but no luck (Actual language: Unknown).
Maybe some HEX hack?
BTW: Great work Steven855. Thanks.

There's no easy way to change the language of a rom. You have to take an existing rom, extract its contents, change what you need, and then package it up again so it (fits and) can be successfully flashed. If someone is willing to tell me how to flash a rom with a language different than the default language, PLEASE TELL ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The big thing right now with all the international roms is trying to flash them so I can test them. Once this is (finally) solved, I can continue working on the international releases. I would try AsuWM6Patch, but it seems to be geared towards flashing with the supplied program and not the SD flasher method that I have been using to test my roms.

Well I don't understand why you say it's so complicated. My friend bought Asus A696. But that was WWE version (Windows Mobile 6 Classic). I've dump rom from my A696 (POL version) a then reflashed his PDA. So it's possible and quite easy.
Here you can read more about it (google translator version).

Hint: usbloader.exe
One more thing. You can use modified version of Upgrade Tool. Now it's easy to upgrade even if the rom file is older then the orginal or in different language.

Thank you for the resources. I will definitely look into the second entry. As for the 1st version with usbloader, I run Windows 7 and have tried the usbloader method, but it never works for me. I haven't been using the Upgrade tool because I'm afraid of permanently bricking my A626 (I bricked it once before, and getting it fixed was a pain) and I know that the SD flasher method works with no problems (as long as the power is on; never try to flash roms during a thunderstorm). By the way, where did you find the modified upgrade tool anyway?
i have been following your roms for a6x6, and i would like to thanks you for making them.
just one comment, i hope you finish or solve first the bugs in your previous versions before making a new one.

Thanks!
I have installed the 6.5.3 ROM on my Asus MyPal A696. So far no problems. My PDA has come back to life.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the great work! Keep it up!
Tip: Sprite Backup works on migration from Windows 6.1. ROM, including the installed programs.
Yours sincerely,

And you (thebeast20), You have now the WinMo (Windows Mobile OS) on HDD, and this Android on SD Card.
So you have two OS on Mobile and the Android won't effect or make problems for your main OS (WinMo).
And when you want to switch android to WinMo, just shutdown android and press power button to start WinMo. and again to start android go to explorer and tap on HaRET.
gps issue
In fact, there is one reported issue: after running android, the gps in WM may not always work. Solution is available: see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11515143&postcount=169
Some people have reported a freeze while "Loading Linux" in HaRET.
Have a look here. This maybe a sd card issue and could help you.
thanks to devs that help others who face problem.I have a question that refer to dualboot and microphone, when the dualboot and microphone fixed?maybe it is not proper time, but I want know whether the developing of android on mini will stop in a few days?I need someone confirm it,thanks.
