VOWIFI - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
Has anyone figured out how to turn on VOWIFI on the Oneplus 7 pro yet. I found info for the 6T but I don't have the options. See link below for reference.
https://www.onetechstop.net/2018/12/30/how-to-get-volte-and-wifi-calling-on-a-oneplus-6t-on-atts-network/

It should work automatically, once you insert your sim card (and if it's provisioned for VoLTE).
Also, see this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/volte-oneplus-phones-t3931727

Yeah, worked automatically for me on Three UK

Have you figured this out yet? Made an account here just to ask the same question Got my 7 Pro today and VoWiFi/WiFI Calling (mentioning both to help people who search for WiFi Calling) works OOB with my Three UK SIM, but my primary SIM is Vodafone and no luck - on the 6 and 6t I had to do the *#800# thing and it worked perfectly, but the menu options have been removed from the 7 Pro :crying:.

Depending on who your carrier is, here is a thread to get volte working.

Mine works fine with International variant on T-Mobile but I'm trying to disable it and can not find that setting.

I used the instructions posted here and it worked just fine.

Does the HTC One A9 support VoLTE/Band 12/WiFi Calling on T-Mobile US?
So the documentation says yes but I am yet to see band 12 in lte discovery. Just turned on logging to keep an eye on it

I have seen both band 4 and 12. I don't see the options for VoLTE and WiFi-Calling though.

They are in phone settings. Both work perfectly for me.
Both show for me. They are listed under Mobile Data.

Thanks all. I chatted with HTC support and they told me that's carrier feature and it's not available on unlocked version...
They're wrong. I have an unlocked HTC One A9 and VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling both work. I would either try a new sim card or factory reset the phone.

When you first insert the SIM card and boot up you should get a screen that allows selection of your carrier. I believe that the result of choosing the carrier (TMO in this case) is to install or enable support for carrier-specific features. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have enabled tethering for me but wifi and voLTE seem to work.

Anyone using the Honor 8 with T-Mobile? If so, what is your experience and does the wi-fi calling feature work? Thank you.

So even though the wi-fi calling feature, as shown to me by Best Buy store personnel, can be turned on from the settings, you say that the wi-fi calling does not work? Have you tried to turn it on? Thanks
Wi-Fi Calling / T-Mobile
How do you turn it on in Settings? I can't seem to find it.
There is no Wi-Fi calling feature in settings. At least none I can find. I'm in the US using an FRD-L04 from Best Buy.
I don't have the phone so I can't walk you thru it. But guy at Best Buy definitely showed me the feature on the Honor 8 that was on display. It was right there in the settings, I just can't recall exactly under what heading.
Not sure what the Best Buy rep did to show you, but I'm positive our Honor 8 doesn't have WiFi calling.
There's no WiFi calling... Maybe he showed u a different phone..

FRD-L04 and FRD-L09 support VoWiFi.
Enable using QuickShortcutMaker:

Hi There, we appreciate your question regarding Wi-Fi calling on the Honor 8. Since Wi-Fi calling is carrier specific, you will need to reach out to T-Mobile and ask about what their plans offer in terms of Wi-Fi capabilities. Hope that helps! (NS)

Mobile Hotspot Issue

Hi everyone, I'm creating this thread because for a while now I've been trying to use mobile hotspot and it doesn't seem to connect. When toggle hotspot on it turns on then shuts off. I go into HotSpot settings and try to turn it on that way and it tells me that I need to contact my carrier. I'm on AT&T. I was wondering if anybody else have this problem.

I have the same issue, I use Cricket as my carrier and the Pixel 2 isn't on their list of "officially supported hotspot devices." My S7 edge however would work just fine because it's on that list. I've been meaning to go to the Cricket store and see if there's anything they can do but there probably isn't. If you aren't afraid of rooting your shiny new device there's a stack exchange article on how to enable it on the Nexus 6P running Oreo 8.1. I don't know of any reason why that same method wouldn't work on the Pixel 2.
PS it won't let me post the link to the article because I'm a "new" user. Sorry.

It just works, I dunno. I'm stock, unrooted.
There is a magisk module to do this

Sorry to threadres, but @gvsukids, do you know the name of the module? I don't see anything in the default list.

OnePlus 7 Pro now compatible with Visible Wireless (Verizon MVNO)

With the latest OOS 9.5.13 the OP 7 Pro is now compatible with Visible Wireless (Verizon MVNO). Everything works, voice, text and data, without having to manipulate APNs or request enabling CDMA-less. Visible hasn't officially made the announcement yet but this is great for anyone who wants to use a Verizon based service for much cheaper than post paid. Anyone else been able to try their drive on Visible?

Just tell the site you're bringing over an iPhone, then it won't check for IMEI. Working great on on my 7 Pro here, didn't have to do anything else once I got the sim.

It varies, but generally fine. Friday I got limited below 1mps when I went downtown. Yesterday I broke 100mbps. Haven't been a situation where it's bothered me yet.

Thanks just wondering since they advertised vowifi I thought maybe they would have standardized it finally.
BTW Google Voice won't work over wifi on the 7Pro like it does on some phones. You have to install Hangouts and Hangouts Dialer and use those with your Google voice number.

Never noticed that about google voice on 7pro....you're correct in airplane mode-need hangouts. Here is the funny thing,if I download Google Voice on my Chromebook it works without Hangouts installed.

Everything but WiFi calling, correct?
Verizon video chat also does not work however that only worked between Verizon Android phones anyway.
Just a head's up - Visible is not currently compatible with Oxygen OS 10 (Android 10). It will not activate. Google Fi is also not compatible. It will activate, but you will lose your mobile data constantly.

No, once you update you will lose service. I took a look at the apn-conf.xml and telephony.db files and all visible entries were removed on Android 10. Attempted to replace the files from 9.5.13 but still didn't work.
Looks Line a reversion issue where 10 was forked before the the fix in 9. Likely it is on the list to fix

T-Mobile VoLTE and WiFi calling

Can anyone confirm working T-Mobile VoLTE and WiFi calling in Philadelphia area with the 8? I'm looking buy the 8 directly from OnePlus, but I'm seeing conflicting reports of VoLTE and WiFi calling NOT working properly.
Thanks.

Happy to help
A little heads up though to get anything other than WiFi working I did have to go into the SIM settings and turn on mobile data as well as enable VoLTE and VoWiFi, not sure if that was related to activating it on release day or because it's the global model on T-Mobile (didn't really look into it since it was just flipping 3 settings then everything just worked).
