Re: Phone connects to o2 wifi in pub but nothing else.
Gents, even though I am ancient (really ancient) I tend to get on well with modern technology but tonight again I experienced a regular problem. I went to the pub, the phone said 'connected to O2' (I also had mobile data turned on) but when I tried to show someone something on Facebook the phone said 'cannot connect to a secure server'. I tried to connect to a web site and got the same message. I did notice a couple of messages on Telegram coming onto the phone. This has happened more than once in more than one pub. Can anyone help an old soldier please ? Many thanks.

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone here can help..
A few months ago i got this phone from 3 on a 24 month contract. Not a bad phone but i'm disappointed it is not working properly as i would have hoped.
I'm using pop3 and gmail (and HSDPA), and works fine most of the time, but certain days it will refuse to send email messages. The following error comes up:
The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try again later.
Tried rebooting, turning off HSDPA switch, moving message into drafts, turning off data in comm manager etc.
It's highly frustrating and i'm to the point where i'd consider selling it. Is this just a gmail/pop3 problem, or something faulty with the phone? I just don't want to send it away for repair if it comes back the same after two months, as it's an intermittent problem that can't always be replicated.
I'd like to know if others are using gmail without a problem (i have i t running most of the day checking every 5 mins).
I've noticed at times the connection will have dropped also, or displays another error: Dialed: The answering modem has disconnected... can't connect.. or something similar.
The GPS also struggles to get a lock while data sessions are running (or at least takes ages).
Thanks in Advance.
bump..
This is a damn annoying problem.
I can't exactly walk into a three shop and replicate the problem 100% of the time, and don't want to send it off for a few months only to get it back the same.
Looks like i should sell it and get a Nokia N82 instead if i can't solve it...
thanks,
OK, i've done literally about 40 flashes today and I seek help from the wonderful guru's of XDA. Yesterday out of no where my data connection would not connect. It showd it connected by opera, youtube, weather, etc would not connect to any website. I did a hard reset and it went away. Now my connection holds for about 5 minutes before i get an "Error - No Network" on opera or a "Connection Failed!" on youtube. The problem persists for about 2-3 minutes and it kicks back up again. Sometimes it only does this on youtube which led me to believe it was a proxy issue, but i assure you its disabled and i ran da_g "remove hidden proxy tool". I've flashed 6 different radio roms and the proble persists. I also flashed romeOS v1.70.3, da_g 2.06, 2.07, and proven 1.14a all had the same issue. Any ideas? I called ATT asking if they were doing something in my area (Ithaca, New York) and they said no.
I have a HTC FUZE with Cingular, and I'm using the $15 cheapo internet.

Can you connect via activesync and/or wifi?
I can connect through wifi, not sure what you mean through active sync. If I try to tether then my laptop cannot connect either.
I had the same issue this morning, but turned out it was a major data outage on ATT's part. http://blog.dataoutages.com/2009/02/02/texas-area-outage-020209/
My data connection started working around 3:30 PM. hope it was the same for you.
I like in Los Angeles
the exact same thing happened to me last night. opera wouldn't work but youtube and skyfire did.
Today I can't get anything to work! I called and they want me to do a hard reset, but I'd rather wait it out.
I've heard that AT&T will block your internet if they find out you're using a smartphone with the cheaper internet plan, I have a feeling this might be the problem. GL!
This thread should have been posted in raphael software or in the Q&A thread in the raphael forum. Unless you want all of the chefs to stop cooking please keep this forum clean for development.
maybe it was att cause oddly enough everything is working as of 2 hrs ago, woohoo
P.S. sorry for the post didnt quite know where it belonged myself
This thread should be moved to another forum, since its here I'll answer it, ATT had major network issues over the last 48 hours (across the country) some areas had rolling black outs other were just out (EDGE/3G) your phone could see it but not connect to it. The issue is now fixed (ie chances were it was not an issue with your phone/settings)
It appears the issue is hitting in VA right now. I've had the issue since around 2:00pm EST today.
It's 8pm here, and I still have problems here in LA
I'm still down, anyone else?
I have had my Fuze for a couple of weeks now and with all of the smart phones that I have had before this have all had the same issue for which I could not figure out a solution for it is a weird internet issue
some of the error msgs that would come up would be from opera and it would say something like "could not find proxy server" or "network problem"
when it tries to connect to the data network. But note that it can connect to the data network just fine just no use of the internet on the device for apps like Opera, Fring ,ect..
For example when I am using my device to surf the internet or something. after a while lets say I want to check an email or something that requires the use of the data connection for some odd reason the device wont connect for anything in the world it will just say can't connect to network. I have tried many trouble shooting techniques even actually listened to an att rep and followed their directions. But to no avail, I often turn to my last option hard resetting the device restoring the data and hoping that the issue will not come back. But it does after a while.
Now here is where the twist comes in.
I am still able to get a internet connection to my ipod touch via wm wifirouter 0.91.
so that is where the true issues comes in I can use the internet on my ipod touch via wm wifirouter but not on the actual device its self.
if anyone happen to have any advice or what not please feel free to send it over it would really help me out and others as well of course and if not at least this issue can be looked at by a future scientist for a possible cure
Okay, no idea what's going on with my phone here. Whenever I connect to the internet through any application, HTC weather, Opera, streaming radio, not a problem. It connects without issue. However, sometimes I get this message on my screen: http://www.flickr.com/photos/clewis4u91/3737272578/
I have no idea why this comes up. I have no problems connecting! I have automatic weather updates off, Windows Update set to manually check (however it stopped working a month ago anyways), QuickGPS isn't set to automatic either, as well as my email. Something is trying to connect at some point, but isn't able to.
Normally it wouldn't be a big deal for me, however here's why it's bothering me. This has happened TWICE so far in the past week, disconnecting phone calls. This seems to be happening randomly. I was on a phone call, and I didn't hear anyone talking so I looked at the screen, and that message was displayed. The next day, the same thing happened while on a phone call, to a completely different phone number. Soft reset does not solve the issue.
I have done absolutely no changes to my device or it's settings. I can connect to the internet whenever I want, so the connection settings have to be okay? Doing a quick Google search basically showed me that the people getting the same error, were unable to connect altogether, which is not the case for me. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks.
Sorry, I left out some phone information. I'm running on a Bell (CDMA) HTC Touch Diamond on Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 using stock ROM.
Hi there.
Just got a new HTC Titan on WP7.5, and it has come to my attention that annoyingly, whenever I try to download anything from the Marketplace through 3G, it sticks on the "Downloading..." screen. However, when I attempt to do this via WiFi, it downloads without trouble. I've had a look at a couple of threads with this same problem and there doesn't seem to be a true fix available for Windows Phone users. I've tried hard resetting the handset to no avail, and it's worth noting that the content I'm attempting to download is under 20mb.
Secondly, I seem to be having a problem connecting to Facebook/WLM Chat; on 3G, it connects successfully, displays online contacts and receives messages. Only problem being that, given about 30 seconds, it will randomly disconnect me. This leads me to have to resync both my Facebook and Live account for the chat to work again... for another 30 seconds.
Again, this works flawlessly when done through Wi-Fi - so you're most likely thinking that it's down to the network, right? Well, the browser works just fine on 3G at all times, so I'm unsure whether to blame the ISP for this one.
Any help would strongly be appreciated.
