Hello,
My charging port started playing up so I changed it out this morning. I could initially get some current through the original port depending on which position the cable sat.
After changing the USB connector flex im now not getting any charging. Even when I go back to the old port.
Has anyone had this problem before?
The phone is dead but showing an very quick blink of the LED every 10 seconds. Think its green in colour but not sure (Colour Blind).
Double and triple checked connections and they all seems to be fine with no broken flexes.
Maybe connections are not making clean connection are you using a magnifying lens to see if they are and have you tried using a different plug.
Check out this thread I hope you get yours fixed cheers. link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz-premium/how-to/charging-problem-t3919700#post79610395

Hi
I have been having this issue for sometime now. I connect my Nexus to my laptop using the USB cable, and most of the time the screen starts acting up. Touch calibration is all wrong. When i click something, the actual button that is clicked is totally a different one. And sometimes it activates stuff on its own.
I have tried several stuff I found on google. Some said it had something to do with my home electricity not being grounded. I checked. It is grounded. Tried everything from flashing new roms to freshly starting from stock! Nothing seems to work!
Its like this thing have a mind of its own
Hi, if you use stock wall adapter, it's working correctly? Usually that is some kind bad electricity problem or that device where you plugged it causes problems.
Check usb cable. If it's not happening on LG cable and LG wall charger than it's your usb to pc cable problem
PS check other usb port and cable
Look at the cable on the microUSB back side, you'll see two pins popping out a little. Issue i had with that cable is while i tried to put the connector in the right position (it was bended) i pushed in the wrong side and those pins where not popping out anymore..
Which is a problem since they help phone to detect while you connect & disconnect cable, maybe more. I tried to make the pins pop out using a needle. Worked for some time, until days ago. While trying to fix, i realised that these pins will actually pop in/out depending on how you bend the connector.
So i bended it to make them pop out just as if brand new. Problem is now, even though the phone detects (and hold tight) the cable/AC power, the phone won't charge. Just like if no power was coming it. I tried various things, but it won't change. This cable is much longer/better than others, hope i can fix it..

Buy a new one?
So I bought a second hand Nexus 5 with a defective spekaer (the one for making calls) and microphone. I wanted to fix it so I bought replacement parts from Aliexpress (the earpiece speaker and the charging flex cable since that is what the microphone is connected to). When I had repleced them the screen wouldn't turn on anymore.. It stayed black no matter what I did. I noticed there was some backlight though.. I noticed some things:
1. It vibrated when I turned it on.
2. It gave a low battery notification sound when it was finished booting.
3. My computer plays the sound like it detects something when I connect it but nothing appears in explorer or device manager.
I tried putting the old flex cable in but that didn't work..
What could I try?
Look carefully at the connections on the motherboard and the connecting cables to see if there are any damaged parts.

Nope I checked that
Look in the attachement to see how everything is connected..
Maybe something happened when you were changing the flex cable as that seems to be the only explanation since the screen doesn't work with the original and replacement part.

What could be damaged then?
First thing that comes into my mind is that you did not/forgot to connect the LCD flex cable or the lcd cable is broken or the lcd is broken.
The backlight and the lcd display should be two separate things, 1 might work but the other might not.
You can try tapping on the screen to see if anything happens to it or try to call your phone and see if you can pick up the call.
Also, did it work before you change the cables? are you sure the microphone and speaker are the only thing broken in the phone?

I will try that. I just plugged it into my pc to charge it and it detected it and showed it in the device manager. This is without the plates over the PCB's, I don't know if that matters..
Yeah I tested it before I took it apart and it worked fine except for the speaker and microphone.
The cable leading from the motherboard to the LCD is in the upper right hand corner of the phone, near the headphone jack.
Hello everybody. I recently changed my frame + display on my nexus 5 and screen doesn't work. First i saw the backlight but after I tried to put more pressure on orange flex cable that connect it to the morherboard it didn't work anymore. I tried to use an old but working flex cable but nothing changed and I tried also with my old display and frame but nothing still nothing changed. I don't know what to change to make it work again, could that be a motherboard problem? Do anyone of you know what is damaged?
Thank you
It could be a screen or motherboard problem.
if i do change the motherboard would it work again right?
Did you change the flex cable that runs from the USB port to the motherboard? If yes, I think this is for charging and data transfer.
Where did you get the screen? It's possible that the screen or motherboard is defective: with nothing on the screen and the phone making sounds, ringing, etc. indicates a screen problem. Pressing on the cable and getting it to work for a short time indicates a motherboard problem (looses or broken connecting cables or onboard connector).
If you want to isolate the the problem, you would need to test with either a know working motherboard or screen.
I have an HTC U11, yes I dropped it but no issues except for the primary mic stopped working. I had the mic issue fixed (the repair guy said the connection was loose, fixed it, and the mic works). But immediately since his fix, I'm randomly getting this Warning message: "The USB port of this device is experiencing a problem. Please disconnect the cable immediately to avoid possible damage. Do not use the USB port until you ensure that it is clear of obstructions and hasn't been exposed to liquids." This warning is displayed when nothing/no cable is connected to the USB port. Please see attached screenshot. It happens so sporadically, could be when I'm not using the phone or when I am using the phone and it's happening more frequently now. Sometimes I hear a beeping sound with the warning message. Does this mean I need a new USB port? FYI... Charging my phone works fine; no charging issues. Please help.
Update: The cell repair guy is ordering a new USB port to see if that resolves the issue. Fingers crossed!!

Did the new USB port (or was it the charging port and circuit board) solve the problem? I've been having the same problem with an HTC U11 and now HTC U12 Plus phones.

You must have changed your battery to aftermarket, the aftermarket battery doesn't have temperature sensor, if you check with devcheck app, you will see the battery temp will always stay at 27/28 degrees regardless of how hot the phone becomes. So the system sees USB is hot while battery is cold and then panic that you may have a short at the USB. The only remedy is to get OEM battery, or transplant you original battery board/flex to your new battery. I did my transplant and no more annoying message that won't let you do anything until you reboot or allow me phone to cool down.
