So I've been having a lot of trouble getting the fingerprint reader to work well with the whitestone dome.
I had both first gen and second gen whitestone glass and with their application methods, even the revised one with pressing down on the reader just doesn't cut it for proper recognition.
So I started trying different things and ended up with trying to use as less glue as I can with applying.
So what I do is:
Preperation:
Clean the device as in the description. Clean it with alcohol, slip it in the tray (I put a extra paper towel under the phone) and use the sticker to get the dust off
Glue:
Put the whole tube of glue on the phone (don't try to shake the last drop out, this can create air bubbles) and proceed as the manual describes. Move the glue blob to the center and pull the pin to drop the glass on the phone. Make sure there are no bubbles!
Applying:
So this is where I do something different. I try to get the glass as close as possible to the phone and squeeze as much glue out of the glass. I do this by applying pressure with a piece of Plexiglas that is about the size of the protector, but small enough to never touch the glue.
Prepare the UV light first and have it powered and within reach.
I put the plexiglass on top off the uncured screen protector and use 4 fingers to press down hard on it so that most of the glue squeezes out (that's why I have a extra paper towel under the phone)
KEEP APPLYING THE SAME PRESSURE
If you let loose of it air will get under the glass.
Now get your UV light and turn it on and shine the light on the device while keeping pressure on the glass.
Do this for both sides and do a minute on both.
Finishing up:
Take off the plexiglass and take the phone out the cradle.
Carefully clean the sides but try to use as little alcohol as possible.
Use the UV light again (I do this for about 1 minute each side again and do this 2 or 3 times)
Final cleaning of the phone
Increase touch sensitivity under the settings and register 2 fingerprints with it.
Tadaaaa! It should work miles and miles better than the other methods for applying this thing. I went trough about 5 domes and almost gave up until I tried this.
This also fixed the peeling problem for me since the glass is way closer to the phone
Hope it will help you guys too if you decide to try this.
You might also want to re register your prints after a week or so because the glue could still cure after the whole process and affect the sensor slightly

I've noticed that too... You'll have to re-register the fingers after few days for better results. It is hard to explain but also the process of registering could be repeted few times until the result is good. You could imagine the glass/glue damage the real image of finger so you have to scan it in different ways until you reach the best recognition position.
I made about 8, 9 scans / finger until I reached a response of 90% of scanner. For me is OK!

Yeah definitely.
I noticed the more glue is between the glass and the screen, the more sensitive it get to issues like that.
That's why I applied it with pressure and recognition is up to 95%+ without having to press harder.
Why would it matter the pressure on the whole device? Wouldn't it be enough with pressure on the fingerprint scanner area?

The problem is interesting and has several characteristics.
First: First, there seems to be an oily surface on my sensation that persists even after cleaning it.
Second: The surface of the screen has formed an odd shape that is containing this oily surface. For example, the oily surface is in a oval shape, and outside of that oval shape it seems as though the oleophobic coating is still there which prevents it from getting dirty; it strangely acts as a barrier which keeps the oil within the oval.
After battling with this problem, I decided to go on a hunt on figuring out any remedy to the problem. I realized that the problem might be because the oleophobic coating has worn away. Or, something far more probable and unfortunate is that the windex that my brother used on both of our sensations to clean the screen a while ago might have caused some chemical reaction in causing this.
I decided to clean the screen with alcohol pads, eye glass cleaner, and even went on to use Rain X to fix it. All of these solutions lasted a day, and then the oval oily spot would come back.
It seems as though the screen has turned into an oil magnet where wiping it away won't do anything...at all. It's as though its trapped there until the use of alcohol pads or glass cleaner is applied with a micro fiber cloth. But again, after some use it just gets dirty again.
I finally figured out my cheapest solution would be to clean it with eye glass cleaner and apply a screen protector.
My concerns in buying a screen protector is that I need it to be clear without pixelating the screen (like Zagg) all while being able to use Swype effectively. any suggestions?

The ammonia in the Windex was the most likely culprit in causing this problem. Unfortunately, once used on a screen with oleophobic coating there might be irreparable harm. The reason for this is because the glass has been bonded with the oleophobic coating and the ammonia works to destroy the finish and the polymers on the screen.
I am sorry that I can't offer you an suggestions on what screen protector to use, but there seems to be a thread indicating the ultra thin and, apparently ultra cheap, lcd screens are fine to use with this.

I ended up with few of the small spiderweb bubbles under my Nilkin screen protector I installed last night. A few along the very top edge of the glass, and a few at the bottom. I am currently trying the binder clip with micro-fiber cloths trick to apply pressure and remove them. If that doesn't work, I saw a mention of putting the phone in a plastic bag and using a vaccuum hose.
1.) Has the vaccuum trick worked for anybody here.
2.) I got to thinking about this. I have a foodsaver vaccuum sealer for storing food. Would this do a better job of pulling out the bubbles since it creates a better seal?
I don't see how it could hurt the phone in any way. Others thoughts on this?

What i would suggest :
Clean the screen with piece of cloth ( Mostly comes with the package)
Get some tape 2 pcs...
place one on the top of the screen protector , and pull it slowly to remove the screenprotector
get the other piece of tape and tape it around ur finger (Inside out) now with 1 finger u would pull the screen protector up
and with the other u would tap the screen where the bubbles are , this will make the bubbles go away!
Then just replace the screen protector and remove the tape, DONE!
PS: If this didn't help , then send your device to me i will fix it for free :good:
Bubbles are created by dust on the screen. I read someone suggest lift the protector with one piece of sticky tape then use another to remove the dust from the screen and protector. Do this for each bubble

Assuming its not dust....just a bubble, like the huge one to the right of the led notification ....I used a thin cloth and an adjustable wrench and tighten the wrench firmly on the bubble...with the cloth protecting the phone of course. In 20 minutes per bubble....I had none. Gone for good.

I would suggest not doing it during night time. Do it on a very illuminated area. Clean with the provided cloth uniformly until looks perfect. I my self always blow the screen during the sticking process and never get dust between screen and protector. If any bubble, sweep it with a credit card before removing the top layer.
As someone said once you have them its a fail. I use the glass ones I know they crazy prices but I do the steam room bit and drop them on. No bubbles.

You may (or may not) have noticed it is easier to apply screen protectors at times; you could apply them all day flawlessly, and other days they just don't play ball. The reason is humidity! The more humid the environment the less chance there is of dust particles wizzing around. Typically this will be summer here in the UK where its gets really humid. To replicate the humidity in colder climates / seasons, you can run a hot shower or bath and let the bathroom steam up. The screen protector should apply perfectly there, but you don't want to spend to long there with your precious phone, condensation and all. You could also try bowls of steaming hot water around the area you're going to be applying the screen protector in.
Be sure to apply common sense before applying the screen protectors if you're going to be using the above mentioned methods and the usual rules apply, clean the screen etc before hand.
So my idea worked and i now have a full adhesive screen protector. Covers from edge to edge and there is no halo effect. The protector is on good and does not peel/pop out. I am using a unicorn beetle pro full body case and no problems. Before the case would pop out the protector but not anymore.
What exactly was your idea?
How did you manage this? (For the people that haven't been keeping up with your posts, such as myself.)

One of his older posts discussed using LOCA. If you use LOCA, how do you get it off if you ever want to remove the screen protector?
Yes I used LOCA glue. To take it off you just heat it. It should be easier to remove than when replacing the digitizer.
I got a couple air bubbles though but id rather have that than a scratched up screen lol

My question is, is the LOCA a problem to handle, because i could see using too much might have some go into the speakers or just seep from the borders. when originally applied. and is there a way to make sure we don't get bubbles?

Yea i got a little on the speaker but you just have to be care full and as it seeps kut clean it with a rag. The good thing is that it wont dry until you put the black light on it. The part you have to be the most carefull with is the home button. Loca will make it sticky and a little harder to press. I also reccoment you get a protector that is completely clear as the one i got has black on the top and bottom and it prevents the black light from drying the glue under those areas. Clean the screen good. To avoid bubbles look at youtube and see how they apply it. Basically a stick figure but instead of a head it is a y shape. Carefully place the protector and let is slowly spread on its own. Once it stoos spreading then you could slowly press down on it and remove the remaining bubbles. I lined uo thw home and back buttons first and made sure the cut outs were aligned for the camera and sesors. Then i applied the black light on the bottom half furst so that it would align properly. I did this while pressing down on it because the air bubbles kept coming up. I also covered up the top half so that wouldnt dry up. Oncw i got the bottom i got rid of any air bubbles on the top half and did the same. After that i put the phone in a box., close it up, do a cut out for the black light to fit and let it sit for a couple minutes to dry more. Then i cleaned and dried the edges. Make sure not to leave too much of the loca in between the screen and protector so you wont get touch senaitivity issues. And do it where there is no dust. I oly got 1 small air bubble but some like white spots that appear to be dust. And again clean the speaker, home button, sensors, and camera before drying. You could also just scrape it off with a plastic blade that the loca came with. And make sure to use liquid version and not the film.
I finally had enough. I removed the first one and reapplied using the new instructions and I was still having issues with the fingerprint sensor. I have to say that with it removed, it works so much better. I installed a film protector and it still works great. I'm done with Whitestone as it was a total waste of money. I emailed them and they told me that I would have to uninstall it without breaking the screen protector in order to get a refund. Good luck with that.

Do you remember where the 4 nipples (dots) were located on your glass?
The reason I'm asking is because I originally got the single pack and the glass had 4 little dots (2 on the top and 2 on the bottom) that I assume were used as spacers.
My second box was a two pack (because I effed up my first attempt) and the dots were now located on the left and right sides. I think they changed how the design of the protector and how it lifts itself up for the adhesive to improve fingerprint recognition. The 1st box had the "4 full"printed on the front while the 2nd box only said "3 full" (didn't have the "full-filling" listed).
Maybe you have what I would consider 1st Gen and I'm using 2nd Gen?
I did have issues shortly after install, but about every 6 hours I added new fingerprints and removed the old, each time was improving more and more. I did this for a day or so and now that I flashed the ASD3 firmware it's about as good as the stock Samsung film that was installed.

I'm using a generic brand UV cured protector ($10 off eBay) and it works great after re-registering my fingerprint a week after application.
I think you're absolutely right about the glue continuing to cure after the initial cure process using the lamp..

I probably had the 1st generation because I received them before I even got the phones. I have already given up as I am done dealing with this company. I have used them before and over time, stuff always seems to get up around the edges. I already went through both protectors so I'm done at this point. The fingerprint sensor works so much better without it anyhow. Now I barely have to press for it to work where as before I had to push down pretty hard.
I'm getting ready to remove mine as well. It's incredibly soft. I literally took a chunk out of it with my fingernail trying to scrape off what I thought was a piece of dirt on it.

That's not good at all. Was it ever dropped? Maybe it was later facedown on something hard that cussed a small crack.

Which one? I saw some on Ali Express but not too trusting on the fingerprint sensor part. Which is the one you got that does work with fingerprint sensor??

Anything that cures with a UV lamp will work.. they all come out of the same factory anyway.
Just need a little patience and ensure its cured before registering your fingerprint.

Yeah, from maybe 2 feet off the couch arm onto a plastic vinyl flooring. Which if this protector can't survive that than it's definitely not work it. But now there's a crack going straight across it that just appeared today. I'm hoping it's a fluke with this particular protector and that these just aren't that flimsy.

Don't worry about it as I've tried both versions (side and bottom dot) with the latest instructions and cured with a much more expensive uv lamp, and neither worked.
I too gave up on the Whitestone, that was with ASBA. Maybe the new firmware could make it work, but I have no idea as I already returned both of mine.
I got a 2-pack, would not work no matter what I do, followed the instructions and videos to the dot. Got a replacement and still doesn't work, I give up on Whitestone Dome, got full refund. Clearly they are not trying to address the issue so I'm not going to support them until they do something about their false advertising.
I've also bought the whitestone screen protector.. Cost me $52 Sing dollars.. The shop install it for me and it look perfect.. I've went back home after a few hours and tried registering my fingerprints.. It was then I discovered that I could not even register my prints.. I tried very hard for many times and it was a terrible feeling I have for such a expensive screen protector.. With little luck I was to frustrated and remove it.. In the removal process it was another heartbreaking experience where the glass protector shatter into smaller pieces and I literally had to use a small pocket knife to scrap off the broken pieces...
Before the whitestone protector I had a similar protection which I broke it. I can tell you some conclusions: do not hurry with registering fingerprints. It seems the glue needs some days (maybe a week) to reach the final and stable composition. For me it takes two weeks to register fingerprints properly because I noticed the behaviour changes slightly from day to day. Also I mention here the registering the same finger in two different positions.
The first glass become usable after about two weeks. The unlock rate was about 4 of 5 and also it needs a little more pressure which also became smaller in time. For me it was ok. When I reached this point the phone falls down and I broke it. I wanted to order another but the store was out of stock so I bought whitestone dome glass. I replaced the glass and the new one did not need another adjusments, also it seems to be little more sensitive that the first one. The only thing that starts to bother me is the dust and dirt that gathers in the front camera hole.

Going to let you know, this is false. The glue is an AWFUL quality LOCA, a few redditors did some research on it (who use real LOCA daily). I pulled the Whitestone off my S9+ after a year, and it was still slightly tacky. That's not "needing to reach stability", that's just **** quality.
My Note 9 had the same issue, but I only had it on for a few months. Whitestone is just poor quality.

You should reregister your fingerprints after installing any screen protector. + you can turn on touch sensivity. (under display settings)
I noticed after going from my Spigen screen protector (had a glass feel but is a soft film) to the Whitestone Dome Glass on my S22 Ultra, I definitely have to press down harder (pretty firmly and no real wiggling of the thumb seems to work best) and use more full on thumb to get it to register properly. It takes ever so slightly longer to register and unlock for me than compared to the Spigen protector, but I do like the Whitestone Dome Glass more overall.
Putting on the WSD had no impact at all on my FP sensor. It was a bit finicky before and exactly the same after. I had found before I put the WSD on that it is 100% perfect every time if I moisten my thumb. Same after the WSD. With a dry thumb, most times it gives me the message "Cover the entire sensor" or "Press harder".
Things I did to help avoid any further degradation after install. During installation, pressed on the sensor area for about 30 seconds after the first cure and just before 2nd cure. Re-register prints after the WSD install. Set touch sensitivity on. Registered my thumb twice. After the install the FPS was exactly the same as before the install so no impact I can see. It is just that this FPS does not like dry prints. Moisten and many people find it works perfectly. I have found that I don't actually have to wet or lick my thumb, just breathing on it once is enough.
Because I generally use face ID to unlock, the FP is not a big deal to me. When I use an app like banking or Google Pay that require FP unlock, I do the breath on the thumb first and it usually works immediately.
4 - Fix Fingerprint ExperienceGo to Settings, Biometrics and security, more biometrics settings:
- Turn off "Show unlock transition effect"
Go to Settings, Biometrics and security, fingerprints:
- Turn on "Fingerprint always on"
- Turn off "Show animation when unlocking"
- Set battery usage to "Unrestricted" for "com.samsung.android.biometrics.app.setting".
- Disable app optimizations for "com.samsung.android.biometrics.app.setting".

I'm using an Otterbox case with Gadgetshieldz screen guard and it fits perfectly because I got the case fit protector!

Next to redoing the scanning of the prints, I find that having to dry skin affects it often. See if handcream or just moisten the finger a very little helps.

Yes, as has been described before, I find just breathing on my thumb is enough to make it work perfectly every time.
A tip I learned a while ago was when I first cure using the uv light and remove it from the jig is to gently press down where the fingerprint scanner is before 2nd curing which in my experience certainly helps.

My first install was a complete dud as the fingerprint scanner didn't work at all, even after registering. I tried pressing down on the scanner on my 2nd install and while it worked better, it still only worked about 30% of the time after registering my prints again.
Unfortunately I'm sending my protectors back to Amazon for a refund as neither install method worked for me.
I guess the powers that be at Android are catching on to this. I just got an unsolicited system message with a few suggestions to make the fingerprint sensor work better. The last one on the list was to "try moisturizing" your fingertip. lol! Guess there is not a software fix for this coming anytime soon.
Hi guys, my film is slightly chipped on one side, it doesn't bother using it, do I still have to replace it with another one or do I leave it like this?
visually it doesn't bother me but it worries me about protection if I accidentally take a hit.

I personally, can not withstand chipped or cracked screen protectors, as soon as a crack or dent appears, I take the protector off, as it has already worked by absorbing the damage, but that is my opinion…
