One Plus Trade in Program? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

They are offering $200 for my Samsung S8+ with a screen issue(dead pixels in the corner from a margarita glass). I even checked water damage and it still said $200. Pristine no issues was $200. Are they reliable on their offers? Will they send the phone back if I dont agree to the trade in value? They pay in a reasonable amount of time?

Going to check the Pro out in person Friday but Im 99% sold

I'd like to hear more as well.. They are offering me a nice amount on my S10+ but its not paid off... nowhere in their fine print does it say that it needs to be paid off and not in the questions they ask when appraising it either. I even called in to their customer service to verify and they said it wasn't required. I can always sell the phone on ebay (since swappa won't let me sell if its not paid off) but this would be way more convenient and cost me less.

I just traded my 6T in on a 7 pro. I opt for the voucher for my phone. They are sending me a trade in kit to send my 6t back to them and they will look at the phone. I will let you guys know what happens with everything. Because they've not ask me what color or ram or mg. I would like. So like I said I'll let you know.

I'll get at least $100 more off of swappa after seller fees for my op6 then the $270 they will give me on a trade in. Not worth trading it in for me.

I think I will try the trade in program.
I would like to hold on to my old phone for a few days, while I am setting up the OnePlus 7 pro what I read that is not going to be an issue.

They are offering $200 for my 5T, but my screen is cracked, anyone knows how that affects the trade-in?

Any issues with the 6T? Curious if they stick to the online offer.
When the trade in kit comes in can you provide a phone # or email for the trade in department? I can only get a general chat person on the line who isn't familiar with the trade in process

I can't imagine a pristine phone gets the same value as a cracked/broken screen but thats what their website says. If true they must have an amazing source to fix phones cheaply. Even if they knock my $200 offer down to $150, I'll still do it. If they knock $100 off I want my phone back

I've not had any issues with the 6T. Just thought I would check out the trade in offer they had I answered a few questions they offered me XX amount for the 6T. So what the heck I'll do it. Have you not went to the oneplus web site and checked the trade in offer out? But yes if they give me a phone # or a email I will let you know

They offered me $350+$50 bonus for my Pixel 3 XL, I said no thanks! It took me 7 hours to sell it for a cool $750! But like new 4 months old.
You gotta at least try selling it privately and leave the trade-in program for last way out.

same lol... if anyone does a trade, it's like trading in their car, they're doing it cause they can afford and or the ease of everything.....
but if we want to save funds yeah, sell it for double the offer really on the market... my oneplus 6 for 160 trade in. pretty sure it would sell for £300 instantly in the uk...

T-Mobile is supposed to launch a deal tomorrow that tops the trade-in offer from OnePlus. For those of you considering the OnePlus 7 Pro, it might be worth the wait.

S8+ is selling for $200-300 in good shape thru other sites. Mine has a screen issue so their $200 offer is really good

I'm going to use Swappa to sell my mint 6T.

I have a cracked Note 8 with burn-in in one spot, and loss of finger recognition at the top of the screen (works with the s-pen). They are offering $120. Since a new screen would cost me $239, Im thinking about it. Phone is basically useless now once the top of the screen started acting up.

Htc 10 = 10$ !!

Anyone else with trade in experience?

$280 each for 6 and 6t, 140 for Pixel XL

I'm gonna trade in my tmobs 6t. It much easier and not paid off, so not worth it for another $150 or so. Let you guys know how it goes.

I submitted my phone's IMEI, but OP hasn't sent the kit for trade in... it's been 3 days. I'll update you once my device is evaluated. Plan on trading my phone for $600, then I'm going for 8GB + extended warranty.
Edit: If you sell on Ebay or Swappa make sure you take fees into account.

Verizon Wireless and $99 Touch Pro 2
I bought my wife's Touch Pro 2 this past Friday for $99.00 with a 2 year extension of her contract. It said it was regularly $249.99 and with a $100.00 promotional credit and an additional $50 for the Buy New Every Two Years. Frankly, I don't care what they call it; bottom line with 8% tax paid $107.00. T-Mobile just reduced the price from $349.99 to $269.99. I'm done being on contract with T-Mobile and got mine from Craigslist for $265 and my step son's device $245 from eBay. I will say this, the Verizon Wireless edition of the Touch Pro 2 is thinner, sleeker and with a 3.5mm audio adapter and while testing it last night with NRGZ28s CDMA EnergyROM Windows Mobile 6.5 with "Leo" it ran terrific. My wife is a bit challenged with the device but that's another story for another day!

I saw your other post stating u got her this phone...this one made me laugh haha. After seeing my mom struggle on my old treo I'm not so surprised though.
Got mine for $99 + car charger , case.. and tax came to $135. Internet discount $100 off + NE2 $100 off again.
I know about those people who find devices like these (challenging). People like that are better off with Androids... or gag.. iphones.

Nexus 4 Insurance

So where do I get an insurance for my coming Nexus 4. I;m kinda skeptical about the strength of the phone and need a backup is something happens.
Only from Shop
If you bought it from a third-party store, you'll have warranty from the shop.
If bought online, no insurance. Just buy a case, and don't damage it, it really isn't that hard if you take care of it and not throw it everywhere.

SquareTrade but you will end up paying for the device in about 2 years. If you feel you might break it in that time go right ahead. (Note fine print has a $99 deductible.)
Honestly I will just do my best not to break it, and if I do, just buy a new one.

Yeah problem with squaretrade is that with the upfront fee plus deductible, you're almost at the price of a new phone. This probably goes for any insurance on this phone since it's relatively inexpensive.
Would like to add that square trade will have a 40% off sale for black Friday. See their Facebook page to sign up. Makes it a more reasonable price. Now if only in can get a hold of a nexus 4 lol
If you buy from Google, you don't need a insurance. Just be careful of accidental damage which can be prevented if you pay attention.

Ohh thanks for the info. The website states $7/mo or $125 for 2 years. The only difference between the two is paying up front or monthly right (aside from the discount)? Or are you able to cancel at any time, say after a year? I'm contemplating on whether it's a good deal since there is a $100 deductible (wil there be tax added on?) and the value of the phone will go down overtime as well. But with the 40% black fri deal, I would probably get it .
Also... this only covers damage and not lost/stolen phones like Tmobile insurance right..?

Well I know for the lump sum one that if you cancel you get a prorated refund. I haven't found anything saying that you can't cancel the monthly plan but I would contact them to be sure.
The deductible shouldn't have any tax added. And yes it does not cover lost/stolen phones.
Usually I'm very careful with my phones but have dropped them from time to time. I did own an iPhone 4 for only 6 months though so still not sure about the longetivity of an all glass phone.hence contemplating square trade. But with the 40% off I would be looking at 175 if I do file a claim.
Another option I saw a fellow xda recommend is going threw werth Ave group. Its an actual insurance company(think auto, home, etc) they have a 50 deduct and covers theft. But know nothing about them
Would these insurance policies cover if the micro USB charging port on the phone gets messed up? it happen on my sprint OG Evo4G, the USB got completely separated from the board itself... (I have no clue how that could happen) and i had to go through my insurance to get it taken care of, (and shell out $100 for a replacement)
But how about if by accident the phone get bricked or something software related? Or if they battery doesn't charge good anymore and it needs to be replace?
If you bought it through T-Mobile, they have a $5 per month insurance policy ($20 deductible) for accidental damage. They also have an $8 per month policy (no deductible) that covers damage and theft. Beats the SquareTrade, even with the discount. I understand that most people probably got it through the Play Store but hope that helps anyone thinking of getting it through T-Mobile.
I personally got the $8 plan. I'll probably either cancel the plan or downgrade it to the $5 after I get a case and some screen covers.
I have a Citi Forward Visa card, for free (no annual fee either) you get $250 of cell phone insurance ($50 deductible). I just filed a claim on my Galaxy Nexus after the screen cracked when I dropped it. Seems pretty straightforward and can't beat the price. It covers breakage & theft.

If u crack the phone with TMobile insurance there is a deductible it only covers non accidental stuff without the deductibles but if its not super cracked they won't charge u just Dont mention it ... U think if we buy from play store we can still get it insured from TMobile? I have the 8 dollar plan on my line for my One S right now Dont know what's gonna happen with that Lol

Did you/ are you going to buy a 3rd party warranty?

so I am looking to maybe buy a note edge for Verizon in the near future, but I am concerned about one thing: the warranty.
I recently noticed that the developer edition comes with only a 30 day warranty. I think that's absolutely ridiculous! am I the only one? so I am thinking that the DE is no longer worth it, even if it is $30 cheaper. what are you going to do about this? are there any third party warranties you are going to buy? I've never dealt with squaretrade or any of those other ones so I may just buy the regular note edge.
your thoughts?
Idk if BestBuy has the developer edition or if it's a Verizon store only. But their warranty program is nice. But you have to buy the phone through them.
Verizon has a good warranty/insurance program. I use it for my family account.

I have used Square Trade for a few years, & they are fast & honest about it. Cash or replacement for all problems so far. WAY cheaper than the carrier plans. You have 30 days to get it from your purchase date. Hope this helps.
thanks for your feedback. what i've been reading about square trade is promising, but one thing I'm confused about is if there is a defect in the phone (not physical damage), will i have to pay the deductible?
I still have some time to decide though

I think you have to pay the $75 deductible for any claim. Beware of ANY replacement program when you have a Dev Edition - most likely it will get replaced with retail. You may want to call & ask about that & get the answer in writing.

Preorder the new Pixel-2/Pixel-XL-2 I totally did!

So I never wanted to be like those -bleeping- iPhone users always buying the latest BS about the new phone they are coming our with, but with the Google store offering me $350 for my current pixel in near perfect condition, how could I say no to an XL2. LMFAO looks like they got me ?? let's hope it's just as good if not better, anyone else trading in?
I'm thinking the same thing, the trade in for my Pixel makes it worth it to pick up the pixel 2. Before the trade in was announced I was planning to skip the 2

Same here. I had no intention of preordering the XL2 but that trade in and 0% financing hooked me. I always wanted the XL but it was out of stock for the longest time.
EDIT: Canceled the order because of the curved screen on the XL 2 and am going for a regular XL instead.

I am
I decided to jump in and trade my Verizon model pixel (still bitter about the locked bootloader) for a pixel 2 XL. I wouldn't have made the jump either without that trade in credit.
I ended up pre-ordering a Google version Pixel 2, coming from a Verizon Pixel. I was paying monthly for my original pixel, so I owe about $300 left on it. Figure I'll take the $350 to pay that off and get a free Google home mini (already have a regular home in the living room).

No 0apr is for everyone I called them and that's what they told me
I pulled the trigger and used my early upgrade on Verizon, send in my Pixel and getting the just black XL2 128gb. I won't get the 300$ credit but it pays of my pixel and still get mini home. Now before I get chastised for taking the vwz version understand that it really our only option for cell carriers where we live and we use the beyond unlimited plan for our internet( again best option in our area). I may be screwed when it comes to unlocking and so on but with rootless substratum and Nova launcher I think I'll be just fine.
Verizon no longer subsidizes devices, which eliminates the only reason why I ever bought devices from them. Unlocked Pixel 2 XL, here I come! I didn't have anything to trade in so I paid full retail, but hopefully they'll give me a nice fat trade in deal when future pixels come out (and hopefully they'll be good enough phones that I still want to buy them).
Ditto on 2XL. The trade in was a yuge plus. I've been envying the close to bezel-less display on the new phones. Plus the new dx0 rating was a big incentive. I love the pics on my pixel so when I saw it rated even better, had to get this next iteration.
It is damn good to trade in for you guys. but for those who live abroad US, very difficult to get a pixel phone.

Depends. I got about 50% off on my Pixel through Verizon when they had a promo going on. And the promos happen pretty frequently. So you can get better deals through the carrier (provided you stay for 2 years, as the discount is done in monthly installments over 2 years).
Otherwise, I'll wait for Pixel 3, my current phone Pixel is still perfect, zero issues (and hopefully they bring the headphone jack back, but probably not, so this may well be my first and last Google phone).

While Verizon has primarily moved their offers to bill credits, there are still occasional Verizon deals with reduced phone prices from retailers like Best Buy. The better offers are typically discussed endlessly at Slickdeals. Based on last year's deals, I'd expect there to be offers on the Verizon Pixel 2 at times from Black Friday through the end of the year, especially for anyone that's okay with bill credits.
Take a breath! Wait for Black Friday deals from Verizon. They will have the device for more than half off. Day after, Saturday, you will get the same deal but need to trade something in. Friday .. well just let me say I paid $240 for my Pixel no trade in. But you need to wait until the Thursday before when they announce it. If they don't, and they might not this year, you're only out a month or so.
I mean that's if you want the o so expensive plan Verizon offers with a locked bootloader and bloat, I'd rather spend the extra money and get a phone worth buying than one filled with crapware

The Verizon bootloader will likely be locked again, and that's about it. On the first generation phone the few Verizon apps can be removed in the Play store, and non-Verizon customers can move to the appropriate firmware for their service. Most Verizon offers are bill payments that require users to stay on their service to receive the savings, but in 2017 there have still been some offers from retailers without bill payments, so that it isn't necessary to stay with Verizon. Most likely I'll just wait to see the Pixel 3, but if a deal on a Pixel 2 comes close to the best offer the first-generation phone had in 2016, I might consider going without root.

Anyone else taking advantage of the OnePlus offer to trade in phone?

I ask because after I waiting a week I initiated a chat with them and the box finally showed up last week. I boxed my 6T up and sent it off over the weekend. Looks like the return label generated is ground shipping which is BS since they don’t do the trade ins like Samsung (give you credit contingent on the phone being in the condition you actually described it). Since you are without your personal device that is highly inconvenient. So it won’t get to its destination until Friday this week. Then they say it may take a few days after that for someone to assess it. Now the website has the shipping times at 10 days. That is crazy. Had I known this process would’ve been this long and drawn out I wouldn’t have bothered doing it. Anyone else going thru this madness? Just seems highly inconvenient for a consumer
I sent my phone last week, it's on its way to TX- will arrive Friday. I'll update you after Ingram receives it.
curious how are you sending the phone in ahead of 2 week return policy period being over - have they changed the requirment?

Cash back has to be done 15 days from purchase. It's mentioned in the FAQ. Voucher is done prior to ordering a 7P. I have backup phones, so someone with 1 device would do cashback.
Hahaha no way. It's a trade in program come on now when are these ever fair to the consumer.... Oh never and this is proof. I had my 8/128 6T in perfect condition appraised by there little trade in program. They were only offering 240 for it and I already I knew it was going to be a hassle with sending it back and inspected so I just laughed really hard at their pathetic offers. I put my phone on offer up and soold it for 400 in just a couple days before the 7 pro came out and I ordered it right away. The best option any of you have if you're looking to make some money out of your current devices then you should sell them yourselves. You will deal with at least headache and hassle.
If you can sell it yourself,do,put an add on marketplace on Facebook, local buy and sell, anything. You won't get anywhere near what it's worth from trade ins,
Me personally I like to try and sell the phone myself but can agree sometimes it can be frustrating dealing with people who like to drive down the price and get the best deal off you,for a quick sale and better prices use shops like CEX in the UK and Ireland, although their prices can be dodgy too at times

The values are quite fair, if not great for other brands. Samsung, Apple, and Moto aren't too bad. For example, an iPhone SE gives 110- about half of what a 6T provides. Some phones give 600+ towards 7 Pro.
I sell things in my personal time, but I don't always the time to physically meet buyers on CL, OU, LG, etc. Online includes fees, that's why I didn't list my phone on eBay/swappa.

There no where near fair. Stop defending them cause you're falling for their trade in scam. Yeah there probably are some phones that will get about 600 for phones that originally cost double that value. But those ones are still getting ripped off badly because you can easily sell your device for a price more to your liking. And if you actually read up on this you would know that no one gets the same offer from OnePlus even if they're devices are in the same conditions they simply offer some people more and some less. I've already seen it happening.
Sold my 6T on Swappa for $440 with a few extra cases. After fees and shipping, cleared about $400. Not saying selling is for everyone but I picked up the 7 pro for only $665 with student discount.

Good idea, trade in for under 70% of what it is worth

I had a 6T with 8/256GB.
The trade in was $270. I sold it for $475.
The trade in is a joke.

Fair has many definitions and you assumed the wrong one. I never said their values were praiseworthy nor equal to sellling. Google gave 250 for an SE, whereas it's only 110 thru OP.
Actually you'd be hard pressed to get 110 for an iPhone SE 32 after all fees (ship, marketplace, and PP)... I'm familiar with Ingram/Phobio, and know that values can fluctuate from start to end. Those that have dealt with Samsung have heard the horror stories for mint phones.
I have no horse in this race, and neither company has done anything for me. I'm simply stating how select trades are okay. Here are confirmed amounts: SE 110, G7 210, Z2 120, v30 190, S7e 140, 8+ 440.
I was an avid SWAPPA user for years. I was selling phones with little issue. Last year I bought a S9+ and sold it a few months after for $650 with no issues. A year later the guy lodges a complaint on swappa but I didnt see it because the email address my account corresponds to on there is an address I check only once and a while. So about 2 weeks had passed from the original complaint being lodged before I responded. Once i did see if I felt terrible but started making phone calls (HE and I were both on T-Mo so I called them immediately to ask why they flagged the phone as stolen even though I had bought it from Samsung directly. The lady i spoke to said that all he had to do was call them and they would lift it. I also called Samsung because my receipt didnt show the IMEI of the phone I purchased and I wanted to get detailed billing showing I legit purchased the phone. Samsung was unable to provide that info even though they verbally confirmed the IMEI was correct (a whole other issue I have). So anyway I responded back on swappa with all this detail and the original buyer wasnt really responding to the site admins and I.
What i didnt know was he lodged a complaint against me on paypal at the same time. Paypal didnt notify me (They claim they called but I had no missed calls from Paypal. I find out about a month after all of this was Paypal account had been charged back for the phone. This guy now has his money back and a perfectly fine Samsung S9+ and I am out the money and no phone. So yeah I USED to sell phones but after this ordeal.....being screwed for a phone I sold a year before......Yeah I'm done with selling phones now......not when the risk is this. I'd rather take the hit on a trade in. I'm still angry about the situation but the guy lives in Michigan and while it may be worth going to there...I dont trust myself on what I might do. I'm taking this as a lesson. **** selling used phones now.

Sounds like we sent it at the same time. Delivery time is for today as well. I didn't realize it would take so long and i have international travel on the 12th planned. I can't use my work phone so I may have to have someone mail me the phone from here.

Hope you dont get ****ed over like I did.
I totally spaced on the cash back option. I just went ahead and bought it now...I know it puts the value I would get back out 15 days + whatever time it takes for me to get the handset in my hand but I couldn't take the chance of waiting for them. I'll take the cash back option after a few weeks. Still inconvenient but a bit better.
