My flex 2 was on 5.1.1. I was trying to use it with "Open Camera Remote" (a wifi triggered camera app) and would get an error where the app couldn't connect to the camera. But if I ran the native camera app first, Open Camera would work.
So I upgraded to 6.0.1
With 6.0.1 the camera would take a while to load with the native app, then it stopped working at all. Just a black screen.
Did a factory reset but it didn't help.
What seemed to fix it was removing all the permissions from the native camera app, then running the camera app (without permissions) and re-enabling the permissions as prompted.
Now both the native camera app and Open Camera (Remote) load quickly and are responsive.
I can't explain why this worked but maybe it will help someone.

Now I'm using stock 2.3.4 + Netachy 1.3.4
When I open Camera app, taking still photo is working as it should. But when I switch to Camcorder to record video, screen goes blank if I touch the screen couple times it will show "Sorry! Activity Camcorder (in application Camera) is not responding."
I've searched the forum and tried everything mention
- Force Stop Camera > Clear Data
- Factory Reset
- flash Stock 2.3.1
- tried to adb push CameraGoogle.apk (d/l from somewhere can't remember) to system/app
the problem still exists!
Any suggestion please?
FYI : I've tried market app called 'Quick Video' and it can record video! so I'm pretty sure that my camera hardware is not faulty.
Finally! I get camcorder working again!
I don't know if this is what solve the problem but what I do is
- install third party camera app (lgCamera) and use it to record video
- then close it and open stock camera app and switch to camcorder
- app freeze and make my Nexus S reboot
- after reboot my camcorder is working again!
Greetings! I've been looking for an answer to this but can't find it; if it is out there and I missed it, I apologize for my poor search skills.
If I leave the camera app open, I find that my phone crashes after a few hours. (Obviously, the solution is to back out of the camera app, but I take a lot of pictures and I'm absentminded.)
Also, sometimes the camera app simply fails after it has been used. It won't open again. For clarity, I'm now using Camera Zoom FX, but it's the camera itself that's causing problems. The error I get from CZFX is something like "can't connect to camera, kill the app with a task manager and try again." But the camera app is not running, so it can't be killed. (I had similar problems when I first got the phone, when I was using the built-in camera app.)
So, my questions:
1) Is there some way to restart the camera without resetting the phone?
2) Is there some way to *automatically* restart the camera from time to time, so it doesn't crash if I accidentally leave it open? I presume if there's an answer to (1) then I could set it up to cron somehow, but I don't seem to have managed to get cron (with busybox) working correctly. Is there another way?
Thanks!
The camera was working fine until I updated to android 7.0. Every time I open the camera app it immediately crashes. Other camera apps seem to be working fine but the default camera app crashes. Has anyone else had this issue after the Nougat update? I tried resetting the phone and also clearing the cache with no luck.
I have the same problem too. It also affects snapchat, I cant open snaps. I also noticed that it deleted picture and music off of my g5. And I cannot record in the voice record app.
I have this issue too..... video recording is not working in camera and it's taking simple photo from camera app...... other feature like manual camera and pop out makes camera app stopped.
Have somebody fix this problem?

is there any option to update camera firmware...??
After 7.0 update My Quick charge is not working and when my phone 15% charge down automatic location on.
Hi guys,
After the Nougat 7.1.1 update, my front camera seems to have stopped working. At first, when I'm opening the camera app, it says that the application might be in use by other applications so I forced close it, clear data, and even restarted the phone. But none if it did work, however, when I'm opening 3rd party camera applications it shows up fine but no option of changing to front facing.
I would like to ask if there's a line of code so I can change the initial startup of the camera to rear? I knew that my front facing camera is not working when I tried to check the diagnostics and it says that it doesn't support this function. Hope you guys help me out with this one. Thanks guys
Hey guys,
to a friend of mine, owner of the LG K40, the selfie camera does not work, as soon as you open the camera app, pressing "Take a selfie" (because it does not make you switch the camera opening it normally) the message "Camera keeps stopping" comes out. Clearing the cache doesn't solve the problem, so I decided, what happens if you uninstall the Camera app using platform-tools? Then I searched the internet for "com.android.camera apk", and unlike many times, where they give you a different package name, this time it was just the right package; I discovered this by connecting my phone to the computer, uninstalling com.android.camera and installing this APK I saw that everything was normal; being a Xiaomi user (I have the Redmi 9) it was obvious that everything was fine, because that app was also made specifically for the brand of devices I am using, so I wondered if this APK would work on a LG K40.
I decided to do this post because, for example, you are doing a WhatsApp video call, it doesn't let you use the front camera, we tried to download the Open Camera, but I couldn't use the front camera there either
So will this APK work on a LG K40?

To get the very reason why Camera app stops working do a LOGCAT.
