IMPORTANT: LG K40 front camera stopped working - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
to a friend of mine, owner of the LG K40, the selfie camera does not work, as soon as you open the camera app, pressing "Take a selfie" (because it does not make you switch the camera opening it normally) the message "Camera keeps stopping" comes out. Clearing the cache doesn't solve the problem, so I decided, what happens if you uninstall the Camera app using platform-tools? Then I searched the internet for "com.android.camera apk", and unlike many times, where they give you a different package name, this time it was just the right package; I discovered this by connecting my phone to the computer, uninstalling com.android.camera and installing this APK I saw that everything was normal; being a Xiaomi user (I have the Redmi 9) it was obvious that everything was fine, because that app was also made specifically for the brand of devices I am using, so I wondered if this APK would work on a LG K40.
I decided to do this post because, for example, you are doing a WhatsApp video call, it doesn't let you use the front camera, we tried to download the Open Camera, but I couldn't use the front camera there either
So will this APK work on a LG K40?
With kindness

Unfortunately, Camera has stopped. [M Preview]

First off, I have not seen this anywhere else, but appologies if i've missed it!
Even on a completely clean install of the M preview, upon opening camera, and once passed the 'OK, GOT IT' button, camera closes. Every time. Regardless of what i do, clear cache, update, remove updates etc. Happens on Preview 1 and 2. Doesnt happen in 5.0/5.1/5.1.1. I thought it might be the fact the camera was damaged being reported in some new way to the system, forcing the closure (i ripped the cable slightly when repairing another part (i know, dumb, but i slipped)), but have since replaced with a new part and still have issues.
Has anyone else had this, and fixed it? Thanks!
Hello, I have the same problem. Unfortunately, my problem persists on older versions of android. My problem seems to be the front facing camera, because with a third party app, the rear camera works. I replaced the front camera, but it still does not work in any app, and the Camera app still does not start. Tried removing the front camera - app again stops working.
That is the same for me. Snapchat will use the rear camera fine, but doesn't register the phone as even having a front camera

Same here! I can take photos through Tinder, and download them to my phone (although sometimes the Tinder app will crash too). But whenever I open the Camera app I get the "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped" message. I've tried multiple reboots, closing the app, not closing the app, resetting the cache, etc. Nothing works.
I believe this all started when I tried to take a "selfie" one time (I guess that's God's way of telling me never to do that again). When I switched to the front camera all hell broke loose. Now I'm guessing it's "stuck" on the front camera and I can't run the app even to switch it back!

Can't connect to camera (rear). Problem with software or hardware?

Hey guys.
I got a problem with my Mi4 with Lineage 13 (6.0.1).
I tried a couple of camera apps, but my rear camera doesn't work. The app starts for a short time including button for pics etc. but the display stays black (seems like someone had his thumb on the lense). Then I get a message "Can't connect to camera" and the app closes.
One thing, when I start a camera app, the lens make a sound like it would took a photo.
What do you guys think? Camera defect or problem with the custom rom? For notice, I had the same problem with Lineage 14 (7.1.1).
Thanks in advance.
software problem.
Try clean flashing again. Or shift to other ROMs

The camera does not focus after you change it

The camera on my phone started to show green screen and to show double image on the same screen, Then I bought 2 new cameras and they worked but neither one focuses.
If you bring closer a very strong magnet to the camera improves the focus but not 100%
-Already try with a clean system, new rom
-Try without the phone chassis
-Try in safe mode
-Try different camera apps, like opencamera camera L, among others
Help !
No body ?
Yeah they are fake thats why. You have to keep buying them and eventually you will get a working one. I myself bought about 4-5 of them (from ebay they were dirt cheap) and eventually one of them worked.
recently i bought a camera replacement part and replace it, yesterday i noticed it unable to focus, i search online for the solutions, and i tried restart, clear app data, flash the rom again, try many different camera app, try barcode scanner, none of it work, and i gave up and think it is hardware problem and i order the camera from other supplier...
but today, the camera can focus...the only thing i can think of what make this happen is i uninstall the google camera and install only footej camera. afternoon i try install google camera, initially it works well, but in the evening, it unable to focus again...
i try to uninstall google camera and left only footej camera, and try reconnect the camera cable, the camera is able to focus again...will try another few days and see how...

Change default camera to rear facing instead of front facing

Hi guys,
After the Nougat 7.1.1 update, my front camera seems to have stopped working. At first, when I'm opening the camera app, it says that the application might be in use by other applications so I forced close it, clear data, and even restarted the phone. But none if it did work, however, when I'm opening 3rd party camera applications it shows up fine but no option of changing to front facing.
I would like to ask if there's a line of code so I can change the initial startup of the camera to rear? I knew that my front facing camera is not working when I tried to check the diagnostics and it says that it doesn't support this function. Hope you guys help me out with this one. Thanks guys

Instagram stories and front camera problems [Lineage 15.1]

I've searched here and on other forums but can't find an answer to some camera related problems.
I'm using 15.1 Osprey June, 1st build on my Moto G3 2Gb Ram (XT1543).
PROBLEM 1: front camera not working.
This is happening for a long time, since I was using stock ROM (my phone came with 6.0, but that time both camera worked fine).
Don't know when this starts, cause i didn't use front camera very often, but when on 6.1 this already happened, the change camera icon simply disappeared.
I've tried all tricks, format the phone, boot on safe mode, clear chaces, etc.
I've used Lineage 14 for a while and now I've made a clean install of 15.1 and same thing.
Back camera works fine for photo and video using Footej Camera — the first time I opened this app, there was the change camera icon; I clicked and get that camera error message, and now the icon disappeared again. Installed MotoCamera_Mod_6.2.5.16 and same thing: back camera fully functional, front camera no icon or options.
Didn't drop my phone, but i'm considering some hardware problem.
Anyone has a link to a DIY fix (or at least try)?
Here in my country, the cost of the repair probably does not pay...
PROBLEM 2: Instagram stories not working
photos works fine, a click the button and can add to my story, but when I record video, after it's finished the buttons doesn't appear and the app freezes.
on "hands free" the image freezes during record, when try to make a boomerang "an error occurs" message appears and the **** goes like this...
I've removed and install back the app, have the last update, etc.
Is someone else having this problem?
thanks!
problem solved!
if someone else is having similar problems, here's the (obvious) solution:
just do a clean flash!
I did it and everything is working now (instagram stories, other camera apps functions and GPS).
except the front camera, probably due to some hardware stuff.
