Ok...I bought a note 2 i317m from a guy and it was rooted...I think he also uses cf-autoroot...but the day I got it, I did a reset and if relocked the phone and it says its not rooted when u open super su. It was unlocked using the software method..like when its on 4.1.1 u can go into settings and unlock. Not sure what its called but u guys know the method im sure. The guy did some patching to he said..Don't know anything about patching but the phone has odin mobile and super SU on it still and they are not in the file manager?? I am fairly new to this stuff..like I have had every android I have ever owned unlocked and rooted and wanted to stop paying for it so I started doing it myself. Only Samsung models so far and only using chainfire methods. When I try to root now it says it cant open/find? (CoM) port. Just wondering if anyone kniw anything I can do or what the problem may be? Please help if possible..and thanks guys.
Hey everyone I was hoping for a little help on this 1. I just purchased the Samsung Galaxy Sol (SM- J321AZ) AND wanted to make a back up and possibly flash a custom Rom on this device if at all possible. I have the Galaxy Tab E 8.0 (SM- T377P) and third to do the same thing without making a backup and not it's pretty much a paper weight as every time I download a .tar file it won't flash and none of the major websites have a factory or custom Rom so that I can use it again. (If anyone can help on that as well that would be SUPER AWESOM). Anyways, I don't wanna make the same mistake with this device as the other so I figured I would ask for some help. I need to network I lock the Sol phone as I'm a T- Mobile user but this was the only phone they had at the store that was not a flip phone. Hope someone out there can help.
Thanks in advance.

Galaxy Sol? I gotta admit, I had to look that one up; never heard of that one before. It appears to be brand new, having 6.0 and released just last month, but it's not even on Cricket's website. Weird.
As far as custom ROMs or even root goes, you're probably SOL (pun totally intended), at least for right now. However, Cricket does like to rename a lot of their phones that are otherwise identical to others, so it's possible a root method may exist.
When it comes to carrier unlocking, things can get a bit tricky. Cricket sells phones for fairly cheap because they only sell them to their own customers. In other words, they know they'll at least make up the difference with a minimum of a couple months worth of service. I gather you've purchased this phone second-hand. If it's not already unlocked, you might not be able to get it unlocked short of one of those services you see on eBay. Contact Cricket about it. They have rules and limitations about when and if they'll unlock their phones. Root/ROMs typically can't do anything regarding carrier unlocking. Interesting though that so many newer Cricket devices, even the cheapos, happen to have band 12 for T-Mobile.
I just bought this at best buy a few weeks ago. This phone seems to be exactly the same as the Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime SM-J320 with the exception it being 8GB.
BESTBUYDOTCOM/site/cricket-wireless-samsung-galaxy-sol-4g-with-8gb-memory-prepaid-cell-phone/5216601.p?id=bb5216601&skuId=5216601
CRICKETWIRESSDOTCOM/cell-phones/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-amp-prime.html
Either way, I was unable to find a stock fw for either of these phones however the firmware allow for OEM unlock. I was looking to at least root and clear away the garbage because out of 8gb I can only use 3GB (also install apps to SD). I don't want to do this unless I have at least a stock fw backup rom to load.
Is there any back door way of downloading this stock firmware? I've look far and wide. Any assistance would ease the pain. Thanks.

Just head to my new post with links to the firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/samsung-galaxy-sol-sm-j321aza-little-t3420635
This phone is currently $50 at Best Buy. I want to buy it for my mom(she's using my old Nexus 4, which is slowly dying), and this seems like a decent replacement. The thing is, she's on T-Mobile. If this can be unlocked to use on any gsm carrier, that'd be great. I guess I'll have to look around eBay or ask Cricket about unlocking it.

And then I get to deal with the frp lock. I don't have the info for that either, But would it be easier to bypass the frp instead?
I'm not entirely sure but aren't the spec for this the same or almost the same as the Galaxy J3 or the Galaxy amp prime? Would anything from those devices work on this. Like a rom port or root method

that selinux root method earlier in the thread does work for root, and after root just adb shell pull all partitions to port twrp or brew a rom. the specs for the j3 and prime are nearly identical so porting from those two should not be to hard. i went to a new phone so i wont be doing anything further with it. unless i get bored and decide to fish it out the junk drawer for something to do. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1rwlbcYZ8i6NldnV0ppVHJ3Z1U thats the link to the adb file for root and the instructions are here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/release-root-samsung-galaxy-prime-j320az-t3493077 . Sorry thats an Odin flashable boot img with selinux tweeked. sorry havent paid much attention to this phone lately
Ok thanks I'm going to see what I can do. At least TWRP and from there compile a rom. I have nothing but time and patience so I'm gonna build cm13 and see what happens.

Hey I'm new to the world of rooting. Wanna do it to get past the network tethering thing. I pay for hotspot. But even planet didn't stop my 8gigs from being used up. So I've started searching for how to keep going with my hotspot.
I have no idea how to do anything past basics. So the more detailed and lamen the answers the easier.
I guess to root the Samsung j3 with nougat on it is first get past unlocking it.
Any helpful tip to get the unlock code for free?
Next is rooting it. A lot of techno babble baffled me all night long. So yeah that's what I'm trying to get help with.
Thanks for the time you guys may spend

I also have a Samsung J3 running Nougat that I would like to root. Mine is a Samsung J3 Unlocked (SM-327U) running Android 7.0 with May 1, 2017 patches. I've enabled the "OEM unlock" under Developer Options but I can't find a tutorial or TWRP image that supports this version. I want to install SuperSU but I'm stuck without TWRP support. I've already tried both OneClickRoot and Kingo, both of which state that the device is unsupported. I'm assuming that under the hood they are just scripting out the process but still using the same Odin/TWRP/etc process.
Any ideas? Is there a way to translate the changes necessary from another version of the J3 (e.g. SM-327YZ) to this firmware or are we stuck waiting for supported to be added to these (awesome) tools?
Thank you!
After unlock
After the phone is unlocked it should be easier to root it. I have a few more days in my service cycle till I reach the phone active 90 days to get the free unlock. After that I'll start trying to figure out how to flash it again
Hello,
like you'll see I'm new here. My problem is, that i can't root my european Galaxy J3 (2017).
Model-No is SM-J330F/DS.
Is it just me or is every single root-method actually a fake for this device?

My J727T is carrier unlocked because i bought it outright at full retail. I dont know how an carrier unlocked device would change anything. Our bootloader is locked which has nothing to do with being carrier unlocked...
Sorry for Hijacking Thread...
Maybe I will buy SM-J330F in Germany as it is cheap... 200 Euro...
and seems no Fingerprint Sensor. :good:
For Germany DBT I found latest Firmware:
Code:
J330FXXU1[B]AQH2[/B]
Please.
Can I root SM-J330F
If yes, how?
Maybe somebody can please give Link to Instruction...
Thanx in advance.
Best Regards
if you want to bypass the 8gb hotspot limit you have to use foxfi and enable proxy in the app. if you set it correctly on your pc or gaming console it will not use data. no root is required anymore. i downloaded a full game on my ps4 using my hotspot and it hasn't used any data except my normal data and that doesn't matter since i have unlimited lte data.

I successfully rooted my J327U witb Chainfire's CF Autoroot (the T-Mobile variant J327T) via Odin.
After Root I installed Flashfire ( also by xda-developer Chainfire). I'm still playing with the app's various features but so far it is pretty awesome definitely an app I'll be making a donation to this next paycheck) you'll be able to make a backup of your device with it. Hope this helps.

It wont work. The tmobile variant and even the metropcs variant is bootloader locked therefore you cannot flash anything. I have a metropcs variant and everyone else in another thread has also. Me and a few others have tried for months to get root and it failed miserably. I suggest buying the sm-j327u. You can get it on samsung.com
Hello guys!
I've spent my day trying to root my J330FN without any succes.. I've found an option in developer menu to allow OEM to be unlocked.

Rooting shouldn't be a problem for this device
Post some specifics on what you have tried and the reason for failure.
I should be able to get something up if you post the details above and your firmware details.

https://desktop.firmware.mobi/ this should help. the firmware for the device is here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/SM-J330FN/ make sure to choose your carrier along with the correct country. the cf autoroot for the j330f is on the firmware.mobi site it should work if you use odin. if it fails to flash or something goes wrong you should have your stock firmware.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply back to you, I live right in the middle of the northbay California winecountry wildfires that devistated Santa Rosa, CA. so it's been somewhat crazy here.
The CF Autoroot that I used on my J327U is for the T-Mobile (J327T). I'm not sure if they started locking down their bootloaders, so you'll have to perform due dilligence on that end. If you do decide to give it a go, make sure you enable USB debugging and OEM unlock under developer options.

I used the same app and used proxy but just saying if you use your ps4 (setup for the proxy on pdanet or foxfi) it will only work for soo long because depending on what your doing on the internet with your ps4 it may or may not count data. I have past 8gb on my hotspot and i mostly just updated games and my ps4 system software and watched videos on youtube.
J330FN (dont know if its DS variant)
I have tried the CF-AUTOROOT website and can't for the life of me, to get it to work.
I dont want to double post, so here is my reply in the firmware.mobi thread: ==>Click here <==
If i figure it out, or someone has succesfully helped me in rooting this monster of a phone, i will post back to help others.
Here's what i've tried so far. http://www.androidinfotech.com/2017/05/root-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-sm-g935u-nougat.html I've tried this method and get error in odin http://prntscr.com/g3sml0 this and on the device it says "Secure Check Fail" . Perhaps there's another way to root this phone i'm not sure why there's so little support for this variant. I just recently switched from iPhone and at least i had jailbreak to rely on xD. or maybe i should get an LG or HTC lol i'm lost
Please help !!! Thanks :fingers-crossed:

If you're trying to downgrade then the only way to is use the rooted combo by jrkruse in the Verizon forums. That way you can actually get into the phone. Using safe strap there's a flashable zip that will remove any Google account tied to the device
