Hey I'm new to the world of rooting. Wanna do it to get past the network tethering thing. I pay for hotspot. But even planet didn't stop my 8gigs from being used up. So I've started searching for how to keep going with my hotspot.
I have no idea how to do anything past basics. So the more detailed and lamen the answers the easier.
I guess to root the Samsung j3 with nougat on it is first get past unlocking it.
Any helpful tip to get the unlock code for free?
Next is rooting it. A lot of techno babble baffled me all night long. So yeah that's what I'm trying to get help with.
Thanks for the time you guys may spend

I also have a Samsung J3 running Nougat that I would like to root. Mine is a Samsung J3 Unlocked (SM-327U) running Android 7.0 with May 1, 2017 patches. I've enabled the "OEM unlock" under Developer Options but I can't find a tutorial or TWRP image that supports this version. I want to install SuperSU but I'm stuck without TWRP support. I've already tried both OneClickRoot and Kingo, both of which state that the device is unsupported. I'm assuming that under the hood they are just scripting out the process but still using the same Odin/TWRP/etc process.
Any ideas? Is there a way to translate the changes necessary from another version of the J3 (e.g. SM-327YZ) to this firmware or are we stuck waiting for supported to be added to these (awesome) tools?
Thank you!
After unlock
After the phone is unlocked it should be easier to root it. I have a few more days in my service cycle till I reach the phone active 90 days to get the free unlock. After that I'll start trying to figure out how to flash it again
Hello,
like you'll see I'm new here. My problem is, that i can't root my european Galaxy J3 (2017).
Model-No is SM-J330F/DS.
Is it just me or is every single root-method actually a fake for this device?

My J727T is carrier unlocked because i bought it outright at full retail. I dont know how an carrier unlocked device would change anything. Our bootloader is locked which has nothing to do with being carrier unlocked...
Sorry for Hijacking Thread...
Maybe I will buy SM-J330F in Germany as it is cheap... 200 Euro...
and seems no Fingerprint Sensor. :good:
For Germany DBT I found latest Firmware:
Code:
J330FXXU1[B]AQH2[/B]
Please.
Can I root SM-J330F
If yes, how?
Maybe somebody can please give Link to Instruction...
Thanx in advance.
Best Regards
if you want to bypass the 8gb hotspot limit you have to use foxfi and enable proxy in the app. if you set it correctly on your pc or gaming console it will not use data. no root is required anymore. i downloaded a full game on my ps4 using my hotspot and it hasn't used any data except my normal data and that doesn't matter since i have unlimited lte data.

I successfully rooted my J327U witb Chainfire's CF Autoroot (the T-Mobile variant J327T) via Odin.
After Root I installed Flashfire ( also by xda-developer Chainfire). I'm still playing with the app's various features but so far it is pretty awesome definitely an app I'll be making a donation to this next paycheck) you'll be able to make a backup of your device with it. Hope this helps.

It wont work. The tmobile variant and even the metropcs variant is bootloader locked therefore you cannot flash anything. I have a metropcs variant and everyone else in another thread has also. Me and a few others have tried for months to get root and it failed miserably. I suggest buying the sm-j327u. You can get it on samsung.com

Rooting shouldn't be a problem for this device
Post some specifics on what you have tried and the reason for failure.
I should be able to get something up if you post the details above and your firmware details.

https://desktop.firmware.mobi/ this should help. the firmware for the device is here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/SM-J330FN/ make sure to choose your carrier along with the correct country. the cf autoroot for the j330f is on the firmware.mobi site it should work if you use odin. if it fails to flash or something goes wrong you should have your stock firmware.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply back to you, I live right in the middle of the northbay California winecountry wildfires that devistated Santa Rosa, CA. so it's been somewhat crazy here.
The CF Autoroot that I used on my J327U is for the T-Mobile (J327T). I'm not sure if they started locking down their bootloaders, so you'll have to perform due dilligence on that end. If you do decide to give it a go, make sure you enable USB debugging and OEM unlock under developer options.

I used the same app and used proxy but just saying if you use your ps4 (setup for the proxy on pdanet or foxfi) it will only work for soo long because depending on what your doing on the internet with your ps4 it may or may not count data. I have past 8gb on my hotspot and i mostly just updated games and my ps4 system software and watched videos on youtube.

I have tried the CF-AUTOROOT website and can't for the life of me, to get it to work.

Root tool: motochopper - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252248

once u have all the tools, unzip motochopper file and use run.bat file. you will get an install prompt on the phone. make sure to proceed with that otherwise run.bat file will stay still in the middle of the process.

Thanks,

glad motochopper worked for you. all credits go to the developer.
regarding unlocking, i have no answer. this phone just came out. so you will probably find the unlock code on ebay in a while. or if you have tmobile service or if your friend has tmobile service, you can have them call tmobile and request a code.
So I just picked this phone up on prepay and I must say, for $149.99 you cannot really get much better. Rooting was easy and quick, thanks OP. Anyone know if there is a recovery or custom ROM in the works anywhere? I'm thinking this phone will not get any development but, one can hope.
rooting the fierce
I rooted mine with( framaroot) ...oneclick root for the fierce...download to phone and click on it..simple...make sure to use the "borimir" exploit for the fierce..you can download straight to phone, no need of a pc...do a google search on framaroot for download links.
Pre-pay to regular service
This may not be the right place to ask this, but I'm thinking about getting this phone for my parents. We have regular t-mobile service but I don't want to go through the hassle of changing my plans so I was thinking about picking it up as a pre-pay phone. If I get that, will I be able to insert a normal t-mobile sim into it or will I have to root/unlock the phone? Thanks!

The Motochopper app worked great. I was able to root my phone. I have tried to get WiFi tether by Treve to wok but keep getting MSS error. I have tried all the suggestions, but to no avail. I have been using PDANet, and am able to hard tether, but not WiFi...which is fine by me, I am still able to use the internet connection. I have also tried to find custom roms, but no one seem to have them. I have checked clockwork, TWRP, and CyanogenMod, and a few others I cannot think of, but no custom roms seem to be available yet. Motochopper comes with superuser.apk. I was able to switch to SuperSU but had to leave superuser.apk installed until after I gave superuser permission, then SuperSU asked me to uninstall. It worked. It still did not help with the WiFi though. Any ideas?

As a former GM for the local T-Mo Retail store, I can tell you that any* T-Mobile (or Simple Mobile) SIM will work in any T-Mobile branded phone right out of the box. No extra configuration needed.
*As long as it's the physical same size (eg SIM vs Micro SIM).

Hey everyone,
So this is pretty straight foreward, I'm attempting to root my Galaxy Core Prime (G360T, from T-Mobile in US) and I have had absolutely zero luck finding ANYTHING related that model number.
I've found plenty of stuff here, but it is all related to the G360H, G, and even the T1 (i think?) I've tried Kingo, Odin, and a few other things and I'm getting absolutely no where.
I'm wondering if anyone out here has had any luck with rooting this device in particular, or if maybe there is something I'm missing? I'm pretty new to the idea of rooting devices but I'm a proficient technically so I'm not exactly sure what is going on.
Is it T-Mobile software or something blocking the ability to root? I can't believe there is that much of a difference between my phone and say the G360H.
Thanks in advanced for the help, as I'm totally clueless at this point.

There are many of us using the MetroPCS version G360T1 that will gladly try any root method you get going. Feel free to contact directly if you need some testing help. While waiting for root, I tried Package Disabler Pro 3.7 that was released September 15. It works fine on the G360T1, although it says "Custom" under "Device status" in "About Device -> Status." Haven't gone to Download Mode to see if the triangle is set or not, but I'm guessing the flash counter has been tripped. I'm not worried about it too much, and it may have been tripped with some other attempt to root the device. Still, this app was just what I needed to disable all the junkware and still have a smooth working Lollipop 5.1.1 while waiting for the real goodies.

The thing is i got g3601 and its running kitkat and no update availble on it ??? so i am porting 5.1 for it.Recovery has been patched up and working kinda fine but need to fix alot of issues.normally i dont develop for mid range mobiles but my brother got one so that is why i started with this one.my first projects are z3 + and xperia lines.I will let you know when it is completed for testing.
Hmm, I thought this was for SM-G360T and the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime that is out for T-Mobile and running Lollipop 5.x. Is the G3601 a typo or different model? The MetroPCS G360T1 will work fine with the firmware and files from T-Mobile G360T because they are the same device and even same network provider. Anyway, it looks like someone was kind enough to modify the kernel source code the Samsung posted just a week or two ago. Here is the news, but be warned that it will trip the KNOX flag:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/development/kernel-root-root-sm-g360t1-5-1-1-t3203522
I put my G360T1 in download mode and it still says official and no warning triangle. I mentioned that it said custom in the About Phone page after doing other terminal entries and running Package Disabler Pro 3.7. Some may want to wait to root the device until there is a deodex'd rom out there to run xposed framework. I like the slimed down stock 5.1.1 and there are a bunch of garbage programs hogging the decent entry level device resources. More news to come...

I have rooted the g360t using the files from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/development/kernel-root-root-sm-g360t1-5-1-1-t3203522 which are for the g360t1 variant and it went well but you have to go to developer options and activate OEM unlocking for it to work and I did it with Odin version 1.85.

My specs:
Model #: SM-360T
Android Version: 5.1.1
Baseband Version: G360TUVU1AOF9
I migrated from Nokia 521 - Windows 8.1 phone to this Android device because of the litany of apps I could use for productivity. I am highly disappointed that I am unable to revoke permissions of applications to resources I think they don't need. So, I basically use phone to make calls and text. If someone has successfully rooted THIS smartphone version, please advise. I'm a little technical, too.
Try this: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu. find your model and download the file you need, unzip it then put your phone in download mode and use odin 3.7 to send it to the phone. That outta be enough. I have not rooted this particular device in a while but I have rooted plenty of others using that method and it works like a charm every time. I just did a quick look up and your model is listed there. Give it a try and post your results.
Thank you so much, Geevil!!!
Appreciate your response.

Hello how would one root the sm-g360t and get custom recovery on it ?

I have the sm g360t1, though no computer to connect the phone to. I see this phone listed in the cf-auto root repository linked above- not sure if that method needs a computer. King root may have worked, though the root gone by when using w0lfdroid's
Kingroot removal/supersu installer. It worked on orher phones.

Yes King Root is bad. Pretty much like malware for your device. Don't use cf-auto-root either, as it's kind of a generic root and doesn't really function properly. I'm helping people constantly fix their devices after either tryung King or CF. Use Trapkernel to root the SM-G360T1 & SM-G360T. It's quick and easy and roots the device with no problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62859013 Here is the recovery you should use too in case anyone's wondering. You flash it the same way as root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=66266209
I recommend using version 3.0.1-0 though, as version 3.0.2-0 has had problem flashing certain roms for some reason.
Thanks bogarty, I was able to root and flash custom recovery on my phone with both links you provided here.. I have the T-Mobile version (SM-G360T) but everything went well
Dont know if ppl still trying to root this device but I just found out that you can download the rooting file trough chainfire for this model. Here´s the link: https://download.chainfire.eu/767/C...to-Root-cprimeltetmo-cprimeltetmo-smg360t.zip
Why do that when there is a root method for this device.
Follow this thread here for all your root needs for this device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...should work just fine for the tmobile version
will this allow me to use a at&t sim card in my SM-G360T phone instead of T-Mobile
I apologize if this is posted elsewhere in the forums, or if it's incorrectly placed, But I figured it may be useful to some.
after hours of looking and browsing the internet, I finally found a way to root my Samsung Galaxy J1 by Verizon.
You will need the following: Samsung Galaxy SM-J100VPP non rooted
Kingoroot application OR
Kingroot application.
Step 1) Go to your dialer and enter *#*#759#*#* or install an app called Hidden Menus and look for "Rlz Debug UI..."
Step 2) turn OEM Mode ON
Step 3) Use KingoRoot or King Root and click root.
This will work on devices that have received the OTA update from VZW.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone knows of a CWM Recovery or Custom Roms For this device, I would very much appreciate a link. if not, I will have to try to port it myself. Thanks in advance.

I've tried the king method and odin method and still can't root this J100VPP.
I even tied to brick it nothing. The king method stops at 90 percent. I'm lost, I need a new idea.
I have the exact same phone and I was able to root with kingroot.net. If I remember correctly I had to do it two times before it was successful.
Patience

Old thread but I just got root using Kingroot 4.9.5 to root SM-J100VPP with andriod 5.1.1 confirmed and working.:good:
Working for me but afraid to update it with the chainfire one want exposed on this
It worked for me with Kingroot and Hidden Menus but after optimizing with Kingroot and uninstalling a few bloatware apps, it crashed, restarted (with the open lock icon, "custom" underneath, now on startup) and no longer has root access in Root Checker, it saying "Root access is not properly installed on this device".
I think it should be noted that Kingroot originally told me root access was unavailable but below also said "Root strategy available, just try it", so I did. Now it seems that wasn't permanent. I won't attempt it again unless one of you has a lead that requires me to.
And how do I know if I got the OTA update from VZW?
Anyone else have this problem?
I am a greenhorn with this stuff. This is my first root attempt. Please be specific when directing me somewhere if needed.
I used Kingo root and after a few tries it worked. I like this better because I can use tasker with the build in Superuser (after build prob mod of course and for some reason supersu). I was not able to get tasker to work with King root.

The hidden menus is an app you can download from the play store to enable Rlz Debug UI to OEM mode. I have used Kingroot (which is the closest i get to rooting the phone) and Kingoroot. Just go to their sites and download the APK.
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a root method for the Samsung Galaxy j7 Verizon's 2017 edition (SM-J727VPP). Is it even possible? I read that the bootloader for verizon phones are locked so you can't root them. Is this correct?
Thanks.
I'm on the same boat. I love the phone but not sure how to root it. Anyone know if the other root methods work for this phone?
I just bought this phone as well. Anyone dedicated into developing an unlock method for the bootloader and custom recovery would greatly be appreciated.

I haven't tried on this one yet (scared) but with Verizon's bootloader I know that its pretty much permanently locked.
... at the very least for now,
Meaning, it MAY be possible to get root BUT that would b where the road ended... no custom roms.... etc.
Root better than nothing.

Maybe you can try the app in this video for Windows looks like it has a big list of various Samsung models
I tried the link in the video but it takes you to a 4shared link that seems kind of spammy so I searched for the file on Google and found it eventually about to try it on the PC right now..
Tried it its a jtag app that need a box to flash firmware
We need to find a 7.1 n root exploits that work or find a way to dump the firmware I can't find any restore firmwares online yet

I have the stock firmware for j727VPP, the QB2 bootloader version to be exact, which is stock. It's Odin flushable , if u need it for any reason restore or w.e let me know n send me an email @ [email protected] . Also, Verizon just came out with a update for j727vpp which changed the bootloader to QF3. Do not update, otherwise going back to QB2 will be near impossible and if anyone does come out with a root then it will be for the QB2, not EF3 bootloader. But, if u already did update and need the EF3 firmware for restore purposes I have that as well, except it is in a ENC4 format, which is a RAW format for firmware. U will need to decrypt it with 7Zip to Tar or Md5 in order to be able to flash it. Like i said email me - [email protected] and I'll provide u with whatever files u need.

Is there a working root method available for this phone yet? There are a few websites that claim to be able to root it, but I don't want to take a chance and brick my phone. Thanks.
Baseband version G930UUEU4BQH3
version 7.0
I'm trying to use ODIN version 3 with CF-Auto-Root-heroqlteue-heroqlteue-smg930u.tar.md5 and it just keeps failing. Any idea why?
If you have the US version of the S7, you can't use CF Auto Root. Bootloader is locked.
EDIT: The number 4 in G930UUEU4BQH3 means you have the US variant. I rooted using this guide.

Research it first. A significant amount of existing devices are listed on XDA, rootable or not. The G930U CAN be rooted. Follow the guide I linked.

I downgraded to Marshmallow. I can't stand Nougat. It was a headache to root. If on Marshmallow, don't update SuperSU from the Play store. I've never seen that error before so I'm at a loss.

Look up the site sammobile. I'd link you but my life is packed away as I'm moving. Look up firmware G930U for 6.0.1. flash it in Odin then follow the steps in the thread I linked earlier, which I think was for 6.0 anyways. Without my PC I can't tell though.
---------- Post added at 04:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:32 AM ----------
Also, make sure the firmware has the number 4 in it like the one you have. The number 2 is for international phones aka not US ones.
