Hy
Not long ago i started noticing that my P20 started behave strangely. Before i got the android 9 update i used to have at least 2 gb ram free. After it im lucky if i have 1.5 with no apps open. Also sometimes apps are giving visual bugs like the options icons are shown on the main screen(not using app drawer or other launcher). Also sometimes when i type the google pad just disappears like i clicked outside of it. Sometimes it happens on my tablet aswell(m5 lite).
And as for a final the media volume randomly drops to a specified level even tho the volume bar is at max. Nothing else runs in the background and the phone is in my pocket.
Thanks for the answers
Edit #1: When i get a notification i used to get a floating cloud when my phone is unlocked. Now i dont get that and im missing out on a lot of information without it(no buzzing either)

Edit: I know this is in the wrong place, I didn't scroll down enough! I can't find the option to delete and re-post it in the proper place though :-(
Hello XDA.
Ok. Got my x10 in September prior to the 2.1 "update"
Since the update I've had loads of issues.
-Occasionally (upto once a week) everything will vanish. All my apps, my menu is empty and my home screens are empty. I tried changing to pro Launcher but it didn't make any difference. While in this "mode" I can use the phone as normal as long as the app is already open in the background. To fix it - reboot the phone.
-the phone is generally slow. It hangs loading the phonebook, the menu and general UI is slow and lags when doing anything including making, receiving and ending phone calls - and sending texts.
- Occasionally (at least twice a week) my phone will not send a text, ie I have to "resend message".
- Daily (at least once a day, when I notice it) the phone will decide to drop all network communication for no reason. One second I have 4-5 bars then all of a sudden a X appears over the status. It only lasts about 5 seconds and has not actually bothered me because it dosn't seem to happen in call but it's strange.
The major issue is that it's generally slow and sluggish.
I have: Re-installed the OS twice to no help. It's even slow and sluggish with nothing installed apart from the default SE stuff.
So, firstly is this normal? Also, can I just install another android version (eg one from HTC or something) onto the phone - Android is all open and happy so I assume this can be done right?
Thanks
Is anyone else experimenting random freezes while using the task switcher? When I'm scrolling through apps sometimes I swipe to keep swiping and my finger keeps moving but the screen won't react for a couple of seconds? The same happens to me while using chrome and the facebook app.
But the worst case of the phone misbehaving has to be on whatsapp, it freezes, it lags, the keyboard goes crazy, a letter stays magnified and the rest of the stop wont appear on screen for at least 1,5 seconds, the keyboard just stops working it wont vibrate until the rest of the words I typed appear on screen.
I know my phone its not faulty because this is the second pixel 2 I'm using and the first one showed the exact same issues ; I tought to myself maybe its just some android 8.0 bugs, they will fix it with 8.1 but I got another pixel 2 and got the 8.1 and it fixed none of those issues . :crying:
Never had anything like that. So if it's happened with 2 devices for you then logically it must be something about your setup (or rather, something that's different between yours and mine). The question is, what?

I dont have a lot of apps, I like keeping blout to a minimum, the only thing I can think of is that I have the phone set to vibrate when I use the keyboard and that I have 3 languages set up on my keyboard? :crying:
That would be odd if that was the cause (though keyboard haptics are the first thing I turn off on any phone).
So I have had my Honor View 10 just over a month now. Overall I really like it. However, there are a few minor bugs(?) that I am finding quite annoying, but have not seen any other mention of them. Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced any of these? And if so, how have you managed to overcome them?
1) Home screen widgets not updating
So I am using Nova launcher, as I have done for quite some time before getting this phone. One problem that I have found is that my widgets are not updating. E.g. Keep list still shows items that have been ticked off and Agenda Widget won't clear past days and bring in extra days as they fall into the 30 day window. I don't know if this is specifically an issue with Nova or other 3rd party launchers on this device, or if this happens on the stock launcher too. I have set all the related apps, including everything Nova, to be manually manged in the battery launch options, but have seen no improvement. I only seem to be able to force them to update by either removing and replacing the widgets or by restarting the phone.
2) Wallpaper not updating
I use Muzei with a Bing daily wallpaper plugin to change my wallpaper daily. Well, that was the plan anyway. Occasionally it will change automatically, but many days it will not and I have to force it manually. Again, I have set the launch options for Muzei and the plugin to be manually managed, but with no change.
3) Bluetooth loses music control ability
I use my phone to listen to music via bluetooth to my car stereo. The audio has never failed, but what frequently happens is that I will lose the ability to control the music from the bluetooth device. I.e. pause, play and skip tracks. When this happens I have to reboot my phone to get that function back. How long it takes for this to happen varies. Can be after just a day or after several days. I have experimented with changing how I disconnect from the bluetooth device, but this has no impact. Also, I occasionally get the audio breaking up, so that it sounds like a skipping CD.
I feel like there is something else that I am forgetting, so will post when/if I remember.
Thanks.
I use Nova too. Some widgets get (most of the time) updated, others not.
When I restart Nova (by the settings in the app), updates works for a unspecified amount of time.
I think this is a downside of the not (really) manageable Ram/Battery management from Emui8.
Also Google Fit is not usable for tracking a path. It looses the GPS access a couple minutes after the screen turn off. Only with the locus app im able to do tracking.
If there is no solution for this, I have to buy an other phone :crying:
Widgets not updating appears to be an EMUI thing - I had a Mate 10 before this phone and had exactly the same issue.
Thanks both. I did eventually find the following thread (funnily enough in the Mate 10 forum)... https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/help/widgets-stop-updating-t3703572
As I have no other need to root my phone, I don't really fancy doing so in order to freeze the system process that some have had success with. It was highlighted that this appears to specifically be an issue with scrolling widgets within EMUI 8, which seems to fit with my experience, and is also apparently present in the stock launcher. I have for now switched Nova to auto rotate, as then rotating the home screen appears to refresh all widgets. Bit of a rubbish workaround, but does work.
I haven't got any further with the daily wallpaper issue, and currently have to manually update.
The issue that I couldn't remember before is that when sending SMS via MightyText the sent SMS doesn't appear on my phone. However, this appears to be a problem across all recent EMUI devices for which there doesn't appear to be any reasonable fix. Let's hope Google hurries up with adding web messaging to their Messages app, and then that can become my default SMS app.
Is there any official Huawei/Honor community where we, their customers, can log bug fix requests?
I have the widget update problem. It's a right pain for the news ones I mainly use. Tried auto rotate in Nova on BBC Sport and that didn't work. The update icon/button gets stuck, constantly swirling.
If I keep the phone I'll probably root since, looking at other Huawei phone's threads, my confidence in them fixing it any time soon is pretty low.
As I've had this issue on the Mate 10 as well - this is an annoying issue that Huawei don't seem to want to fix.
I've also noted a silly amount of permission setting (in some really random places) so allow things to run in the background. It can be in more than one place. I don't know what the Chinese obsession with background app killing is, but this means my phone often doesn't tell me I have messages or emails until I unlock it. My bluetooth trackers and Huawei Watch don't sync.
Might be time to move to a Xiaomi or Oneplus.

TBH you might go from one set of annoyances to another with these brands. All OEMs seem too busy adding gimmicky features rather than concentrating on getting the basics right. You can get more bog standard than properly working widgets!
Huawei seem to have (unnecessarily) doubled down on Android's battery optimisations and permissions. From what was some years ago a bit of a Wild West in these areas, it's now gone far to far the other way.
I had an OP5T for a few days, loved it but OLED screen gave my eyes/head grief. So anything OLED is probably a no-no for me.
G6 I had briefly last year, just didn't get on with it and the screen had really uneven brightness. LG seem incapable of getting phones right these days.
Anyway, I'll persist for now. I'm happy to root just for AdAway and Titanium Pro.
After having the phone a few weeks now, I can say I've had the same bluetooth issues as the OP. I use Muzecast as a personal music server and randomly lose the ability to pause while on speakers. NB - volume continues to work fine.
Heard the mini skips or glitches too, infrequent but noticeable.
I have crawled the internet and XDA and have yet to see anyone else mention an issue I've been having with my Google Fi Pixel 3 since launch. On random occasions, when receiving a notification, whichever app I am currently looking at will either completely restart, or seemingly force-"refresh". I am baffled.
Examples of issues I've had when receiving notifications:
- While playing the game Brawl Stars. The app entirely closes and reboots.
- While viewing Instagram feed. The app refreshes and brings me to the top of the feed as if I'd left the app.
- While browsing in Relay for Reddit. Feed restarts at the top.
- While browsing in Chrome. The webpage crashes and is entirely reloaded.
- While viewing the Recents multitasker. Closes the multitasker entirely and drops me on the homescreen.
At first, I thought perhaps this was a RAM issue. Since it doesn't happen every time I receive a notification, I've thought that perhaps the System UI and/or Pixel Launcher (which controls multitasking now) was getting dumped from memory and forced to reboot. But I honestly have no idea. None of these have been easy for me to reproduce, it just randomly happens when I'm browsing my phone and receive a notification.
My phone:
- Pixel 3 128GB
- Running latest December update (also happened with launch version)
- Using Pixel Launcher
- On Google Fi with an e-SIM
- Have two system user profiles set up (one personal, one work). They both exhibit this behavior.
- I use Developer Options for USB Debugging and not much else (I'm an Android software engineer and use my phone for work)
- I never install sketchy apps and am pretty vigilant about that. Mostly just have work and communication apps, along with a few games and music.
Here's what I've tested:
- The December update. Didn't fix anything. Had marginally better RAM management, but it still happens seemingly as frequently.
- Changing launchers. Used Action Launcher, and still had the same issues.
- Disabling "heads-up" notifications system-wide w/ ADB (which I originally thought was the issue). Still happens when a notification is received, even if just silently added to the notification tray.
- Disabling Notification Access to all non-system/important applications. Thought it was an errant app being triggered. Changed nothing.
- Checked the Notification Log system settings for any strangeness in received notifications. Couldn't find anything obviously out of place.
Potentially related issues that I'm not sure about:
- System UI will very rarely completely crash (randomly) and boot me back to the lock screen with no explanation. Only happened a handful of times.
- The Recents multitasker can sometimes become glitchy when using gestures. Every so often, triggering it causes the whole multitasker to flash several times before it displays correctly. Like it's being rebooted from memory (a theme here...).
I'm getting desperate. I've been a big Nexus fan since the Nexus 4 was my first Android phone. I had the OG Pixel 1 and had none of these problems whatsoever (by far the most solid phone I've ever owned until the battery crapped out). I was hoping the December update would fix this, but this is plainly unacceptable for a phone I spent $900 on. I really don't want to hard reset the phone if I don't have to (since I'd have to set up all my work and personal profiles again...) but if it's the only option then I'll do it!
Does anyone here have any thoughts?
(Ha, ignore my signature. I haven't posted here in a while xD)
Hi There,
I got an really annoying problem and can't find anything on the web or this forum. Probably due to the common keywords....
My problem, since 1,5 months (can't remember if this is after an update) notifications stay on screen for 45 seconds! App notification but also android system notifications (the grey ones beneath the screen). For instance, picking up my phone from the wireless charger the phone says "Draadloos laden onderbroken" this is the dutch message for saying the phone has stopped charging wireless. Then opening let's say whatsapp, this notifications hovers 45 seconds above the text input position.
I can't find any setting that let's me adjust the screen time duration of notifications. Rebooted the device and also had a new update few days ago, but the problem stays. I'm running Android 10, One UI 2.0 with kernel 4.14.113-17806689.
I feel really stupid not figuring this seemly simple thing out by myself.
Gr,
Erwin

Have you found this setting?Settings\Accessibility\Advanced settings\Time to take action
Instellingen\Toegankelijkheid\Geavanceerde instellingen\Tijd om actie te ondernemen
Not sure if it will solve the problem, but it seems related. This setting is hard to find and you might not remember having changed it. No 45 sec option though.
OMG, this did the trick. #Nunspeet #hero

That worked for me for some reason mine was set to 2 minutes. I don't remember changing this setting. Ooo well it's resolved now.
Thanks
Notifications are a disaster on this phone. It kills apps in the background too aggressively, also (excluding apps from that seems a little hit-and-miss). I love customization, but Android 10 and OneUI have made a real mess of this.
My current problem is when I get a call, the popup flashes only for a second. Everything was so much simpler on my old rooted phone!
When I get a flood of notifications, my phone freezes up. Either it's Notistar's fault or there is a huge issue with the notification system.
