Notifications turn off randomly(?) Moto G Play Android 7.1.1 - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ANDROID VERSION 7.1.1
VERSION NPIS26.48-43-2
My notifications seem to turn off randomly. Is this caused by some programs changing them during use? Can this be stopped and if so how?
It is most vexing.

Two things to try.
1:Soft Reboot(Battery out emulation).
Fully hold in the Volume button and keep it held in whilst then holding in the Power Button until the phone reboots.
2:Boot to Safemode and see if it happens there?
Phone on>Press Power Button and then Long-Press the shutdown option.
If it doesn't happen in Safemode it's usually a user installed app that is causing the problem so then it's detective work to find out which one.

[Q] button combination to force a shutdown

I must be searching for the wrong things. What is the button combination to force a shutdown on the Note Pro? Thanks.
eric
Press and hold:
Power only - power off
Power + vol up - recovery
Power + vol dn - download mode.
Is this what you are needing?

Those were what I was expecting. But the power+vol combinations aren't doing anything on mine. It is a Verizon LTE version, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference?
They should work . . . best way IMO is to just do a shutdown from within the OS, then while the tablet's off press and hold a vol/home combo prior to pressing and holding the power button. Once the model number splash screen appears let go of power first while holding the other two . . hold the other two for a second or so and then let go.

Ok, this is really silly, but I don't find any way from the Note Pro's OS to do a power down, other than the popup from holding the power button?
(Sorry, bit of background, this all started from a problem that my power button was only working to wake the tablet, but after that, had no effect whatsoever. After mucho playing, for no apparent reason, finally the popup menu came up, I did a restart, and it's been 100% since than. But it has left me worried how to do a shutdown if the power button isn't working. No pulling the batteries on these things.)

Correct, when booted into android OS a momentary holding of the power button will bring up the power menu one option within which will be to power off. This is typical of many android devices.
Are you sure your power button is operating normally?
I have read elsewhere of a user having issue with his power button not feeling right (less travel than anticipated without much tactile feedback when depressed indicating possible defect).
I would like to add for clarity that there is no force shutdown via hardware button, only force reboot. Holding power down for several seconds will force a full reboot. Holding it down briefly to get the power menu gets the power off option in the menu to fully turn the tablet off. If your tablet reboots after this option is chosen then something is wrong.

No, because after returning to working fine yesterday it is acting up again. Not a hardware problem - if the tablet is off, the button will always work to wake it up. But once again, it is now not being responded to when the tablet is awake - either a quick push, a long push, or in combination with the other buttons.
It seems like this is a software problem, either driver or app, since mechanically the button works every time to wake up the tablet. And, of course, I can't do a shutdown or reboot to see if that clears it, because its not responding to the power button. Can't remap the power button because no root available on the Verizon LTE model. Frustrating.

I would take it back to Verizon. IMO software shouldn't interfere with a long depress forcing a reboot. That function is fundamental. This still sounds to me like a possible hardware issue where a long press is not identified as such (intermittent connection in the button).

But a short press also doesn't work when the tablet is on, but does work when the tablet is off. But then it clears up, and always works properly for awhile.
Unfortunately, unlike phones, taking out the battery isn't an alternative option...
I dunno what to tell you. Without root I don't see how any software you have installed on the tablet would have changed anything, and without the ability to get into download mode I'm not sure there's a way for you to do a factory reset that will fix the issue (if it is indeed a software one). I hope someone else chimes in that can help. My suggestion to take it in to Verizon still stands though.
Good luck!

Power Button and Volume down button both stopped working

I've had my phone for about a week now and had this happen this morning. Power button wouldn't turn on screen/do anything and volume down wouldn't do anything. Had to use the home button to get the screen to respond. After holding down the power button and volume down I was able to reset the phone and the issue is no longer present. Should I just assume this was some kind of software hiccup or should I go the route of trying to get it replaced for being defective? Anyone else run into this issue? Any help would be awesome. Thanks guys.
I had an issue with my power button failing to respond. Because of it I couldn't restart my phone (and we can't get any restart apps without root) so I had to use the built in scheduler to force restart my phone.
Found that in settings -> backup and reset -> Auto restart. Supposed to be used to "optimize your device by restarting it automatically at set times" :/

Moto G power off and volume down buttons not working.

Ever since I flashed CM13 the power button sometimes didn't wake the phone, I later realized this was because trebuchet (the CM launcher) crashed sometimes, and wouldn't restart. I would usually wake the phone by having a friend call my phone and forcing it to launch trebuchet or plugging it in. But today for some reason it stopped working completely! Now it doesn't turn off my phone and doesn't turn it on!! I can't reboot my phone or shut it down, and for some bizzare reason my volume down button doesn't work, but the volume up key works???? This is so frustrating I nearly came close to throwing this piece of crap phone at the wall. How can I fix this?? I downloaded an app that lets me sleep the phone from the screen, but I don't know what to do to wake it! I'm not always with my friends and I can't turn it on if I'm outside and not near an outlet. Please help. Xt1032 with CM13 nightly.

Home button / Power button not working

This started a couple of days ago. Both power button and home button randomly stopped working. I thought it was a ROM issue, so I tried flashing another ROM (I was on stock/rooted). Tried 2 different ROMS and had the same problem with both of them. Flashing another kernel (arter kernel) didn't work, either.
I've noticed the power button works normally until I press the home button, which acts like a long-press (bringing up google now on tap or google now when I disable tap). After that, the phone doesn't recognize the power button.
I can apparently bring it back to work if I take a screenshot (home+power button combination).
Has anyone experience anything similar?
I have exactly the same problem, it seems after installing an APP. The app is already uninstalled on my phone. How did you fix it?
Thanks

How to reboot/turn off the nord ? Google assistent keeps popping up

How to reboot/turn off the nord ? Google assistent keeps popping up.
On my other phones I never had this issue, even after a full device reset google assistent keeps preventing restarting my phone.
How can I fix this?
Settings-buttons and gestures
This will help
Press Power button and Volume up key simultaneously
Yeah they should let you hold the power key a little longer so that power off shows up like but here it is in the options
