I realize that this is off topic and that I may be chastised for posting but I will take my chances. I really enjoy the work you guys do and would like to show my appreciation by donating. Therefore, I ask what is the consensus of the forum; donate to XDA or to the individuals whose work I have benefited from?
Donate to one or to all.
This site is (I expect) quite costly to host - so if you don't have much dosh put it there.
If you use a chefs roms a lot, or get a lot of help from a user, or if someone saves you a pile of cash by unbricking your phone then donate to them directly.
In the most part, the users who have a donate link in their signature are generally people who cook, modify or help a lot.

I say donate to all but maybe this thread should have been started in the Kaiser General section or here in the General Discussion. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=256 This really doesn't have anything to do with Kaiser ROM development, nor specific to Kaiser in general. I understand why you posted it here as this is the most popular thread.

Thanks for your understanding. I did see that section but I figured I would get a better response in here. This is completely research motivated and if I could remove this thread after the 7 day poll, I would.
You and everyone should donate to both XDA and the individual developers. Obviously, donate to XDA to keep the site running. If you use one of the developers Rom's and like it, why not drop $10 or $20 to the developer to show your appreciation. If one of the senior members spends a lot of time helping members and noobs, why not drop a few bucks their way. Some people spend a lot time helping, maybe they don't contribute Rom's, but their continued support of Noobs and others are also well appreciated. (maybe they should stop the noob bashing, but even though they often try to humilate the noobs, they still try to help them)

The site needs money to stay up do to the sheer amount of information here.
The "both" option is absent for a reason. There has to be a definitive answer on some level. The very reason for asking the question was to ascertain who should be the benefactor of a donation. It would be great to give everyone their due but as we are all working class people and money doesn’t grow on trees, a solitary choice must be made...until one of us strikes it big and remembers their friends
I was very excited to see Slayher's tweet thin morning that they now have 3g/4g working on Tbolt CM7 can't wait to get it up and running.

agreed... have some common sense! if the tweets were made last evening at around 11EST then there are obviously already forum posts (it is regarding CM for God's sake).
Search and post in relevant threads. This thread should be closed, as it is pointless. No need to riddle the forums with duplicate posts just because you (and everyone else) were excited and did not post in the correct thread.

Well this is the Thunderbolt general discussion forum so imo if its not here its in the wrong forum.
This forum is ment for sharing knowledge and info not bashing other users... If you don't like my post don't reply to it.. it will get pushed to the bottom and be forgotten..
I know i'd be happy to see this post and since I hadn't I posted it.. not everyone has the time so scan every forum

While I can understand your enthusiasm, I am excited as well, this post is 10 threads down from yours and there is another just above yours. Both discussing CM7 for the TB.

Not right this moment no. In order to get a Q&A section we have to have either over 10,000 posts or 1000 topics in the general section.
I really don't see a lick of moderation here. Seems about right for xda.
And what do you see that needs to be moderated? Maybe instead of complaining you could use the Report Post button and something could be done about it.

Hi and happy moderating with a taste of SENSATION
Hello and welcome.
As some of you may or may not know Hechoen has received a ban from the forums. The ban is his first and is for ten days. The reason for the action was "Disrespectful attitude towards moderator." Some background follows. He was PM'd by a mod to remove his avatar within 48 hours. The mod seemed to think that it could be offensive to some members. His avatar has been around for a long time and was a cartoon of a guy giving the middle finger with the words "Censor this!". As we all know an avatar is an extension of your online personality. To get an idea of whether or not the community found it offensive he posted a question about it in the off-topic thread(that he created). He never named the mod or said anything "disrespectful" towards the mod. Within minutes the post was deleted and he was banned. So I ask any of you that think this action unfair to please respond here. Also feel free to PM a mod(or five) with a link to this thread. If others believe this to be unfair and we unite as a community maybe, just maybe, we'll make a difference.

like they used the avatar thing as an excuse...he has had that avatar as long as I remember... Mods cut him some slack...give him a warning and let it go....

i might be somewhat a noob but hechoen has been on the sgs4g forums way before i joined and new what roms were he plays an importnd role in xda
Don't worry, the mods have heard our petition and hechoen will be unbanned in approximately 9 more days It's a problem with the forum software, we just can't make it unblock anyone faster than that.
wow really he has never been anything but nice to people ..../failpalm
maybe if i added a little neon effect or something, then it might just be a little appropriate? :banghead:

I don't know the guy personally but this isn't the first time a mod has abused their powers. Most don't, but then again what can you really do? Hope he's unbanned shortly. And to all the mods not on a power trip, please keep up the fine work we appreciate you.

XDA is a development forum, off topic discussion is allowed to some extent to afford users to create relationships that strengthen bonds and friendships that will, hopefully, lead towards a stronger development community and thus, possibly better product for the masses.

That being said - this website, and the threads within, are really for development and the developers. Moderators are merely here to make sure that the aforementioned development, along with the published rules, are being abided by.
Regardless of whether moderators do the popular thing or not, we do what we do with sincere interest for the community as a whole. Users who want to challenge the rules and/or criticize what moderators do and try to incite others in this plight are ones who bring little value to this community. Additionally, and you most should be aware, there are plenty of social media websites available to sign petitions and to express your feelings, XDA is not one of them.
And, to refer to the about linked post by zelendel, no one made you come here. You agreed to be respectful in your posts, to be critical of moderators, who are also members, is also not allowed.
For those of you in here who have posted, good to meet you. I expect you all will try to exercise respect, humanity and dignity from here on out - wherever and whenever you post.

No one can really help you by providing you a invite. They're already tough getting one as it is. There's already a pre compiled list. Lol, rules are rules. They have to be followed.
