My Charge constantly disconnects the bluetooth connection from my car. The phone and Sync system pair just fine, but after about 2 minutes the bluetooth connection is dropped.
I have tried unchecking the Media sharing in bluetooth options and that doesn't seem to help. I have deleted and re-paired the phone, updated the Sync software but no matter what the phone won't stay connected. This is very frustrating as I do a ton of driving...
Anybody have any suggestions?
I have the same issues with the Charge and and Bluetooth module in my Volkswagen. The only thing that seems to correct the issue is to restart the phone. Unfortunately this only seems to resolve the issue until the next time the phone connects.
Disconnecting Ford SYNC
I am having the same issue. I was planning to update my sync soft ware but as posted that may not help. The only other thing to x do is to flash a new radio update on the phone. Ironically my motorola T505 BT HANDS FREE SPEAKER stays connected 100%.
Hi guys.
I have done a lot of research on this issue. It also occurs to me with my BMW iDrive. The problem is when the phone attempts to download the address book from your phone, it then disconnects... Mine connects then after 2 mins also disconnects when loading the address book. We need to get samsung to realize its not our cars but instead their stupid bluetooth!!!! I've tried and tried to contact them with to no availl. its really frustrating
Its the phonebook when it asks to download phonebook select no this is a known issue apparently. My 2011 Ford fusion is like this. The problem affects most android phones and ios 4. After you do a clean pair without downloading the phonebook it will work flawless and you will love life again.
Similar Problem with Sync
From the what's worth department, I had a similar problem with my Ford Sync. It seems there is an issue with Ford's Sync. The service manager personally worked on the resolution and accidental figured it out.
He removed the battery cable and basically "reset" the Ford's sync cpu. Bingo, Bango, Bingo. Fixed.
My recommendation is to find the fuse for that curcuit, remove it for about 30 seconds and then reinstall.
Fixed my issue.
Bad part, I've had to redo that a couple of times in the last 9 months.
Possible fix try it out
Just jumping back on this thread hope this helps all that are having problems I have cleaned up my phones contacts and my Droid Charge and Ford Sync are playing nice with each other, hope this marriage will last.

Ha, well I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I'm having the same issue with my Kia. I'll look at my contacts, but I don't have very many so I don't see how it could have dups.
Not downloading the phonebook is not an acceptable answer to me. Kind of cripples the sync capability...

Did you try the reset via the battery disconnect?
Had the same issues.
I removed all of the duplicate contacts from the phone, unpaired and repaired the bluetooth, and removed the phonebook from SYNC...but it still disconnected....the only thing I havent tried is pulling fuse 29 (which is the fuse to reset the sync system...no need to remove the battery cable)....do you really think resetting the system and then repairing will fix the issue?
My Charge pairs and works with my car just fine.
Adding phonebook contacts is impossible- it just hangs there, request for phonebook transfer never pops up on the phone, car sync disconnects the paired phone and nothing else happens, until I cancel out and reconnect the phone, then it works if I dont ask it to transfer contacts...
I ended up manually adding a few fast dials.
I know it is not a problem with car sync- I successfully paired and transfered contacts on that same car from Nexus S, Atrix and iPhone.
Of course my "smart" car wants to keep separate phonebook for each phone....or I'd be all set. Would really appreciate some advice.

I will add my name to the list of Kia Owners having issues as well.
I tried this last night, but it still needs more testing as I only felt like sitting in my car for 15 minutes.
Its possible, for Kias at least, that having contacts that don't have phone #s might be throwing the BT system off. I unchecked the option on my contacts list that allowed contacts with just email addresses to be shown and the BT seemed to stay connected.
Anyone else have this option currently checked?
Please read
I'm in contact with an software engineer at Samsung regarding the bluetooth problem. I missed his call, but in his voicemail he explained that this problem is with the car instead of the phone. This is nonsense as the problem remains across multiple car manufacturers with totally different bluetooth equipment.
If you are having a bluetooth problem, please check the main general forum where I will have a post that you can post your car manufacturer and phone model. I will provide this to the engineer so they can work on a eventual fix for our bluetooth problems.
Thanks

Hey agold, do you have the link to the forum post in general to post problems? I cannot find it anywhere! Thanks!
What you can do is go to the market and downlad an app called bluetooth fix.......This helped me...But you have to be rooted to use this app. I have a JEEP that uses U-CONNECT

I just got a One S last week, and everything worked great with my 2009 A3 until yesterday, when bluetooth started getting disconnected by itself literally every minute. After it cuts off it immediately reconnects, which would have been fine but the A3 makes a "ding" sound every time the phone is connected. I have tried to unpair and pair again and again, and to no avail.
Despite this issue, the connection is actually fine when in a call. It's only when it's idle. Also my Nexus S working fine with the car, and the phone works fine with my BT speakers....
Does anyone else have this problem? I'm going to call my local dealership and ask if they have any sort of update for the A3 since the One S is BT 4.0....
[SOLUTION/WORK AROUND]
Just unpair the phone, then when you pair it again, do not allow the car to access your contacts, and make sure to choose the "do not ask again" option. This is the only consistent solution I've seen so far.
Try to update software... Maybe there is the fix. Settings about phone system update

I have the same issue with my One S, it will connect and disconnect from my Cadillac SRX, my Galaxy S2 had no issues. What is up with this phone.
Yeah tell me about it....my Lamborghini Aventador is doing the same thing

That's weird, my 2012 A3 doesn't have this issue. Do you have the nav system or the base console?

i had the same problem with my arc s and my '11 rs5 last year.the audi guy couldn't find any problem at the multimedia console. he offered me to change the whole console but the problem was still there. same problem on my girlfriends tts...don't know what audi was doing back there.
now on my new facelift rs5 bluetooth works like a charm
Maybe if you didn't have such a badass car your phone wouldn't hyperventilate and drop your bt con every 60 seconds.
I had this issue with SEAT Altea. It was in fact due to contacts syncronization.
To know if it is the case: unpair your phone and pair it again without accepting to share your contacts. then if the connexion is stable you will know that it's linked to sync.
I solved the issue by deactivating some phonebooks sources. I had 140 google contacts and 160 Exchange ones. Probably too many. By activating only the google ones the issue was solved.
hope it helps...

Yep I saw this on another forum and it worked like a charm. I dont really need to use the phone book anyway, as long as it can let me pick up phone calls im golden.
So, what was the actual change that solved the issues for you? We might want to take this into the FAQ. Did you disable the phonebook sync completely or did you just limit it to Google Contacts?

It was the phonebook sync. When you pair the phone to your car you should get a prompt on the phone that the car is asking for permission to access your contacts, just check the "don't ask again" button and decline it.
I also have a problem downloading contacts. I drive 2011 Subaru Outback with OEM Nav/Bluetooth. How do you select which contacts to sync? Where is the option for selecting/deselecting Google, phone...etc?
Thank you
Hi,
when not syncing your contacts is not an option: If you keep your android running with the navigation app (preventing standby) do you still experience disconnects? If this helps you can try my app "BluetoothKeepalive" from the market, it automatically prevents android standby when being connected via bluetooth.

Has anyone noticed that Timeline in Google Maps doesn't work properly most of the times? A lot of times I go to places and later on I find out that Timeline haven't had detected my travel time and location... If you haven't noticed, I suggest you keep an eye on that and see if that's the case.
Me too.
But actually only since the update to Nougat.
Same problem, with the same phone. Some days have no data, and other work perfectly. I have tried lots of reset and reinstall and I have no idea why it randomly works.
It is probably because Maps may be being stopped after your screen gets locked. Go to Settings -> Battery -> Close Apps after screen lock and unselect Maps from the list of apps displayed and see if it helps
Made sure to check that Maps wasn't selected in the close app after screen lock thing, but timeline still isn't working. If anybody has any other ideas they would be much appreciated!
I have this exact problem as well. I don't know that causes it.
But I have a different phone - Huawei Mate 9 pro. That's where the problem is.
My previous phone, Huawei p9, did not have this problem at all...
Exactly same here. Huawei Mate 9.
Someone solve this issue?
My timeline isn't working at all. I cant even view my timeline in my maps. It shows 'Cant connect to maps. Try again in a few minutes'. Anyone else facing this? Any solution for this?
Same problem with my HUAWEI Mate 9: location hardly recorded in timeline. I have disabled stopping of app when locked for Google Maps and any other app that might relate to it.
I guess that HUAWEI implemented other aggressive power saving routines, which conflicts with the timeline recording. Did anybody observe this exact issue on a phone from another company? Having such unexpected and undocumented behavior in the operating system makes me suspicious agains the Chinese producer.
Would be great if somebody could find a solution, work-around, or at least an explanation.
BTW: I'm surprised to see so few postings here. Is this issue discussed on a more popular place?
I've been observing the same problem recently, some days it tracks my timeline perfectly and on other days it thinks I spent the day at home, despite being out and about for up to 10 hours at a time.
Using Mate 9 L29 and its been happening on multiple different firmware versions
Me too, I guess the issue is from the software.
Or may be the google app issue too
I have the same issue with my honor 8, any fix?
I have the same problem with my P10.
Before I had an HTC one m7 and I had no problem at all.
Did anyone find some solution?
I used to have this issue with my Honor 8 but now it works as it should. So, I don't have a specific fix for it and I don't know how it started to work suddenly but... A few months ago my phone refused to connect to any WiFi network and I had to send it in to get it repaired, they replaced the board and the WiFi was working.
And well, I noticed that Google Maps Timeline was working all of a sudden, and it still works. Weird since a board replacement shouldn't have fixed the Maps Timeline it since it's most likely software related.
Does anyone have an update on this issue? I've experienced the same thing since I bought my Honor8 a few months ago (timeline history doesn't work/works very infrequently). Could it be due to a defect in the onboard GPS? Or is it purely a software bug?
Same issue with my mate 9... I've found no fix. I've tried clearing all cache, disconnecting the account, and reconnecting the account to google location sharing, but with no success
I got the same **** ?
I have the same problem as OP with my Huawei Mate 10 pro EMUI 8.0, Android 8.0, Security Patch 6. November 2017.
But i have find out:
I have 3 different Google Accounts. When i delete the two and work only with one, the timeline will be logged in Google Maps.
So i think it hasn't to do with power savings in my case.
Google Maps Timeline does not know how to log with more than one Google Account.

That can't be the case;
I've been using two sony devices for 5 years, with my 3 google accounts, and I have like every day logged in my main account.
Then I switched to the shiny new Mate 10 Pro... FML.
Not sure if it's a phone issue or Android Auto issue but I'm not getting a pop-up in Android Auto when a call comes in so the only way to answer the call is to swipe my phone. I did a reset on the phone today for other reasons but I swear it was working before. Can anyone think of a setting that's blocking this? I've checked the Android Auto permissions and they're all checked.

Little more info. I deleted and repaired my car to my phone, rebooted the phone, deleted and reinstalled Android Auto and still the same thing, no call control. Messages work as they should with an on screen pop-up.

No such problems here. All works as it should. Not sure what to recommend.
Got it finally. I unplugged the phone and stayed connected to Bluetooth. Called my phone from another phone and the call came through on the Ford sync 3 system giving me the options to accept or reject. I accepted it and while in the call plugged the phone back in which brought me to the call screen in Android Auto. Hung the call up and while still in Android Auto I called it again and the notification showed up and gave me the call screen when I clicked it. Unplugged and retried again about 5 times and the notification pop-up and phone screen work as they should.

same issue
Having the same issue, will try your solution. Thanks!
Sorry to resurrect the thread but I wanted to thank you for the solution. While my Pixel in 7.1.2 was working no problem, having to switch out of the M9 just for this issue wasn't ideal. Followed the outlined steps and sure enough, I can take calls as expected whether I'm connected to Auto or not. Turns out the 100th Google search is the charm. Thanks!
Same issue with huawei honor 8
I am having the same issue with the huawei honor 8, and the fix does work for a time. The darn issue keeps coming back, which is obnoxious. Any one have an idea of what is causing to bug?
i heard its an EMUI issue and not an issue the phone particularly, and its up to Huawei to fix this. Im having the same issue which is tough considering i just came from a galaxy s7e that gave me tons of issues, but worked perfectly in AA
Recently on my Note 10+ (SM-N975U1) running stock Pie and Dec 1 2019 update, I have been experience 2 issues.
Notifications for some apps are delayed
App updates hang on Google Play Store
For the app updates, they stall with "Download Pending" or the download stalls with <100% complete.
Resolution steps that have NOT worked
Clearing cache and data for Google Play Store
Rebooting phone
Rebooting into Safe Mode
Changing from Wifi to Cell Network Data and vice versa
Stop/starting app updates
Current Workaround
Closing/swiping the Google Play Store and opening it again. It will eventually complete downloading after multiple attempts and install/update an app - you will have to repeat this continuously for every app you want to install or update.
Is there anyway to debug this without doing a complete reset?
This is a problem I've had on many phones over the last few years. It took me a while to figure it out but it's bluetooth related. More specifically, I had the "Dynamic Lock" option enabled on my Windows 10 work laptop (which basically just locks my pc when my phone gets far enough away). I disabled this and now all my notifications come immediately and play store updates work as they should. I realize that you may not have that enabled and if that is the case then turn off your bluetooth for a while and see what happens. It worked for me and several others on the samsung community forum.

Thank you! I turned off Bluetooth but nothing happened but after I rebooted with Bluetooth off everything started to work again. Is there a permanent fix for this? I am assuming turning back on Bluetooth will cause this to happen again? The strange thing this never happened to my Note 8.

I have no idea why this happens. What I do know I have had this issue on LG phones, Pixels, and Motorola's. It isn't a Samsung thing. I think it's an Android Bluetooth issue.
This is an old thread - but in case someone else finds it, I came across someone's suspicions in another thread that their Plantronics headset was causing some kind of problem with their Bluetooth. I began unplugging my Savi headset when not in use and it seems to help... YMMV.
This has been going on since Pie; made me upgrade from my Note 8 to Note 10 and it came right back. Infuriating.
You may also want to try to rub a lucky stone and do some chanting as well, because it's about as effective as hoping for a fix after all this time.
