I've just moved from Sony to a Google Pixel 3. Does anyone know if it's possible to install the xperia keyboard on to the pixel? I use the T9 layout on my sony and I can't see that option within the Google keyboard. Within the play app store there is no compatibility with the pixel.

Just moved from the xperia xz1 compact and find the pixel keyboard far better. Just my personal opinion though
I'm struggling with the Google keyboard to be honest. The T9 layout is just so much easier to use with only 8 keys to hit instead of 26. Question and exclamation marks are hidden behind the ?123 button on the Google keyboard, whereas the with the sony T9 they have a dedicated key. It's all personal preference I guess. Would be great if someone knows how to get the xperia keyboard on to the pixel.

Whenever I type, they keys get typed very delayed. many times the Letter bubbles wont go off for few seconds while typing.
Xperia Tipo Single.
Is there a way to reinstall the keyboard? or some fix?
There are some gd alternatives on the market, and so fast

mmm... what is gd?
Been using SwiftKey for months now and I've very pleased of it, the best feature is that you can enlarge the keys, the default keyboard on Tipo is meant for children, tho that's understandable given the screen size.
PS: gd = good

Thank you for telling )) . How about the xperia V keyboard that someone extracted? I hope SwiftKey is easy to install, and without any net connect permissions.

You mean the one which is here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2104376
Ok so how do I install it? Are there any step by step instructions?
They say, Back up the original.install in recovery mode. Thats it.
I back up the original Xperia Keyboard through Titanium Backup. Is that enough?
I installed the cwm but even after following the instructions ... cannot go to any recovery mode.
And what is in the recovery mode? You see the CWM app working around? and I have to go into the unzipped keyboard folder?
Hey Guys,
Is there any way to modify the keyboard as LG G3's keyboard ? I want features like one handed use and flexible height for the keyboard.

Thanks ... I opted for swiftkey
You can download the LG keyboard, I was using it on my s5. The link is somewhere here on xda
I'm in this same boat. So use to using a Note device with the keyboard shifted to the right that having it take up the entire screen looks crazy to me. I installed Swype but don't see it anywhere in the settings. Any suggestions how how to enable that? Thanks.
Update: Finally figured it out in Swype. Not intuitive at all, but to do it, it's Go to Settings, Themes, and then tap the gear at the top-right.
this way you can make your google keyboard as tall as you want https://goo.gl/g9mcEM
Hackers Keyboard is the only soft keyboard I found that has arrow keys and needs no permissions but is ugly as sin.
Swype keyboard doesn't work and needs internet access. People must be very trusting to install a keyboard that needs internet access.
So any recommends for a soft keyboard?
Most of the keyboards are for phones so they don't take full advantage of the larger screened tablets like the nexus.
I am trying out keyboards.
Super Keyboard works.
I used to use Thumb Keyboard on all my Tablets but it crashes on the Nexus 9.
Can someone not the Google one and add arrows?

This is exactly what I would have suggested. I love that keyboard, it is my default for JuiceSSH, AIDE, and Splashtop

Any keyboard that supports themes will need Internet permission. The keyboard doesn't need an active connection in order to function.
It would be really nice if Thumb Keyboard could have a few material themes put together next, been using it on all of my tablets since my Xoom.
The permissions for Google Keyboard from the Play store:

Is there an option to make keyboard with numerical above letters. I don't like to push and hold e.g. letter Q for number 1. Or to swith to numerical. I'd like to have both on one screen.
If there no such an option which keyboard do you recommend do download?

Try swiftkey then
You can enable numbers row in Google keyboard. Follow this guide.

Not the best designed but still usable.

Unfortunately, there is no internal setting that allows for you to put your numbers at the top of your keyboard. We advise that you browse the Google Play Store for third-party options. (ED)
I recommend swiftkey.
I use Swype + Dragon and its a great keyboard, easily awitching from letters to numbers, bilingual usage and great theming. Or try something different as Fleksy for instance, also a great keyboard and you can set a numbers row in permanently.

Well, I have it always there, no matter what ROM I'm running
google keyboard, swiftkey both are good alternatives
I like G keyboard more
I keep pressing the '.' button when I want the space button. I had this problem with my previous phones too, so it's not a unique Mate 30 Pro issue for me.
I wonder if anyone has a recommendation for a different keyboard that has the space bar to the right (or perhaps left) of the keyboard?
NB, I also miss having swipe...any ideas?
Max.

Hey Max,
I'd strongly recommend Gboard. Have you tried it out yet?
I've been using it without any issues to replace the stock Huawei SwiftKey keyboard ever since I got my M30P.
The UI, spacing and layout tends to be mostly customizable and works wonders as it's from Google themselves. I've attached the version I've been using for a while as I noticed some of the newer ones just don't work - the settings page just closes on its own if I open it.
Ah, I prefer not Google, if possible. Is gboard open source?

I managed to load the swiftkey keyboard, and it is working much better than the built-in one.
I do have trouble with the keepass2 not being an option, though, which I am trying to use for storing my usernames/passwords.
Use Xperia Keyboard. Its awesome.

You're not the only one. Had this issue with all Android devices, nothing really helped. Meaning changing keyboard wise. Albeit the worst culprit for me was the Samsung keyboard for this issue over the years.
