Hi.
Is there an option to make keyboard with numerical above letters. I don't like to push and hold e.g. letter Q for number 1. Or to swith to numerical. I'd like to have both on one screen.
If there no such an option which keyboard do you recommend do download?
i recommend downloading Google keyboard

Try swiftkey then
You can enable numbers row in Google keyboard. Follow this guide.

Not the best designed but still usable.

Unfortunately, there is no internal setting that allows for you to put your numbers at the top of your keyboard. We advise that you browse the Google Play Store for third-party options. (ED)
I recommend swiftkey.
I use Swype + Dragon and its a great keyboard, easily awitching from letters to numbers, bilingual usage and great theming. Or try something different as Fleksy for instance, also a great keyboard and you can set a numbers row in permanently.

Hey guys finally someone has gotten smart enough to make the first multi touch keyboard. It's called Smart Keyboard in the market and its free. It's still in beta and is very buggy and ugly. They keyboard is going in the right direction, maybe someone can build on it and perfect it? Thanks.

You can see the screenshots in the market. And it doesn't look THAT bad. Basically a white version of the stock keyboard.
Multi-touch seems to help my typing a lot. Even without the auto-correction (which is supposedly going to be added in the Pro version later on), I can type almost perfectly, compared to the many mistakes I make with the stock keyboard.

I agree its definitely a step better than the stock keyboard. One problem is that it doesn't show the letter when you hit it, it's just blank. Cant wait for a pro version or for someone to make a more improved app.
very nice keyboard indeed. the vibrate option doesnt work on my n1. its also missing the voice input but istill like it because it implements multitouch correctly unlike the stupid stock kboard
So I just downloaded app and selected it from language & keyboard settings but I still end up with the stock KB. Any ideas on how to switch it?

Hold down on a text box and it should say "Input method". Click that and should display the keyboards you have installed/enabled.

Alright fixed the problem thx!
Still needs quite a bit of work. All in all, it sort of reminded me..why exactly do we need a multi-touch keyboard now? Sure ive used the iphone keyboard....but it doesnt make a world of difference if the OS isnt built around the function.
fantastic find. using it to write this response and this is an amazing fix for me. not sure if it is the multitouch or not, but either way i like it
pretty good missing some features but i feel a bit more accurate with it.
Not bad! This has a lot of potential...
ill run it again once the bugs/fixes are worked out

vibrate works fine - just very faint.. it's a light pulse rather than a strong/long vibrate.

You can tell its multi touch if say you hold down the A key and then press the J key it will type the A then the J right after it.
Wish they could add holding Q for number 1 etc like the HTC one!
Only thing I really want.

No auto-correction?
Iam using swiftkey keyboard on my Note 1 N7000 and love the arrows feautre to move between words to correct or change words, this feature is not available for swiftkey keyboard tablet version,or the stock keybord, any other recommendations?
I admit this is a major failing for Swiftkey keyboard, which is otherwise a cracking keyboard.
Thumb keyboard has multiple layouts for tablets and also includes arrow keys.
will look at it, do you use it? how is it compared with swiftkey?
Edit
ooops, does not support my native language (Arabic):crying:

Just another tip (especially for those needing some greek letters for math symbols, i.e. α, β, γ, δ, ε, θ, λ, μ, π, ρ, φ, ψ, ω, Γ, Π, Σ, Φ, Ψ, Ω....)
You may ask yourself (as I did): "How can I insert all those symbols if there's no "sym" button?"
Simple answer: in the "Settings" - "Input languages" select "Eλληνικά [el]" (Greek) as an additional input language. After that, with a quick slide on the spacebar, you'll have all those Greek letters in the Greek keyboard layout.
Other examples of symbols that can be typed with the "Hacker's keyboard" are:
≤, ≥, ≈, √, ā, ∞ (x±y)²=x²+y²±2x•y
And, if you use the the Circle key another plenty of exotic symbols can be added, such as
♥ ⓚ a₁ ⅘2ⁿ...
(see this and this links)
It would be much simpler by using the traditional ALT+CharCode combination for the Ascii characters, but I didn't find a way to use that method (the Alt key seems not to combine with the character numeric code).

Take a look at Kii. Got it today after seeing this thread and doing a bit of looking. Liking it so far. Arrows, numerics, special characters with long press and several templates.

Another great keyboard is Ultra keyboard. One time it was very famous. I have been using it for a few years now.
Hackers Keyboard is the only soft keyboard I found that has arrow keys and needs no permissions but is ugly as sin.
Swype keyboard doesn't work and needs internet access. People must be very trusting to install a keyboard that needs internet access.
So any recommends for a soft keyboard?
Most of the keyboards are for phones so they don't take full advantage of the larger screened tablets like the nexus.
I am trying out keyboards.
Super Keyboard works.
I used to use Thumb Keyboard on all my Tablets but it crashes on the Nexus 9.
Can someone not the Google one and add arrows?

Any keyboard that supports themes will need Internet permission. The keyboard doesn't need an active connection in order to function.
It would be really nice if Thumb Keyboard could have a few material themes put together next, been using it on all of my tablets since my Xoom.
The permissions for Google Keyboard from the Play store:
Google Keyboard
This app has access to:

Hello everybody,
since the upgrade to Android 6 I had problem with the Google keyboard, basically I can't choose any language but English (US) and Tibetan!
I tried to download old versions of Google keyboard through APKmirror but the only result is that I don't get anymore Tibetan as option.
Logcat doesn't give any useful information.
Upgrading another H60-L12 of a friend we encountered the very same issue.

I need at least Italian, but I was used to have few other languages that I use less often
and I'm studying. It's very strange that I can't see the other dictionaries...
Of course now I'm using SwiftKey but I prefer gboard, I find it much more faster and comfortable.
I got the same problem. It's crashing when I try to access the settings.
I use German and English. But when I'm typing only English dictionary is available although I see "DE EN" in the space bar.
But I cannot switch between these languages.
I've also installed APK manually but this didn't help either.
Any ideas how to resolve this issue?
From Gboard
Hold the comma key.
Select languages.
Turn off Use System Language.
Select the language you need
Hold space bar to select languages
Quite surprising you're getting only two language options. Not so for me. I'm using H60 L04

I've done as described. I can switch now language but the dictionary is still English only.
When I hold comma key and select Gboard settings and try to get into menu item "settings" then it crashes again. The same when I try to access "advanced settings".
So Gboard is still failing.

I use standard ROM, no custom ROM.
Updated via OTA
Android 6
Build H60-L04C432B860
So why should the standard ROM not have built in the languages?
That u cant say. Couldn't find a way to add languages too. You should stick to other keyboards then. Try Xperia keyboard. It's nice

The latest version that I see on the play store has been published on 10 Jan and it has the problem described at the beginning.
I found a newer version (not sure about the origin, it has a different icon) on apkmirror but it has problems with the resolution and in any case the dictionary problem is still there.
Did you find a working version?

My phone does the same thing. Maybe Google intended it....... Works great in text and email.
Yea it doesn't work in chrome. Most annoying. Was the same in my Nexus 6 on N. Can't remember on M. I may switch out keyboards. But then emoji becomes an issue.
For a good 3 months way back when, I complained daily to Google that I did not want word prediction in a browser, any browser. I wasn't alone; there was a very strong opposition from a large population that auto-corrections made it impossible to enter unique web addresses. For example, trying to enter starbits.com changed to Starbucks.com. In addition, the period created a blank space that you'd have to backspace to remove. However, our suggestion was that word prediction not be enabled in the address bar, but should always be allowed in the text search field. Guess that's harder to execute than previously thought. I don't know why that's so difficult. One would think they just have to set the parameter 'text_word_prediction_enable' flag for the right fields. I know you don't want to use Swype; I use Minuum and it predicts words better than anything. I don't ever look at the keyboard to type. I can be 3 letters off and I can still achieve 95% accuracy. Or you can wait for Xposed to work again if you're rooted, and use the Auto Correct module.
