Hi all. I've had this phone since 2017. Tried out a few different keyboards and stuck with swiftkey. I might have disabled the default xperia keyboard. This morning I decided to give the old keyboard another chance. As soon as I selected it, I had no keyboard, so I tried switching back to swiftkey, still no keyboard. I decided to reboot my phone and it still has no keyboard. I have it set to require password on boot but I cannot input without a keyboard. Guess I'm going to have to reflash firmware?

If you have already unlocked, try using twrp file management to move a keyboard software to the system

Hi all..newbie to this site and to smart phones so excuse the steep learning curve !
Have had the phone for a few weeks and learning lots. All of sudden yesterday when trying to make a calendar entry, the full QWERTY, compact QWERTY, and phone pad can no longer be used to enter text. It's stuck on numeric mode. Tapping the "abc" key on the bottom of the full QWERTY keyboard doesn't change anything. Can still use transcriber and full keyboard for now. BUt when switched to Note program, all entry methods work. Have not installed any new programs lately (besides a few games and new calculator). Have been using S2U2 and Diamond tweaks to help with a few other problems...Help please since this is now my primary calendar and runs my life so need to have this working again!!
you have this problem too? i have the htc diamond keyboardon my device(mwg zinc ii)but sometimes it just enter numbers only. to solve this, i tap on option and tap ok then it works fine again. most people who installed the htc diamond keyboard on their non htc device have this problem too. but this is the first time i heard of a diamond having this problem. did you upgrde to the latest diamond rom?
Yes it's on a brand new Diamond..running ROM version 1.93 dated Oct 30/2008 so I am assuming it's the most up to date one. Just tried it again now, and it let me enter on word in full QWERTY, then it automatically changed to numeric and locked me out of letters again....IT's FRUSTRATING
Ok..thought I bump this up to see if will get more attention.
Contacted HTC Helpdesk in the meantime, and suggestion was to hard reset...ARRGH!!!!
Just so I'm clear, after a hard reset, the device will turn back to factory settings, and all I have to do is sync it with my PC to bring back data, then reinstall programs that I've added, and then tweak the settings that I've already done and the phone will be back to "normal"??? Or are there things that the phone providers (Rogers) put in that won't come back after a hard reset???
this is bull****...mine is doing the same thing..and if u do a hard reset there are a lot of things that have to b reprogramed by sprint
HTC touch diamond full qwerty troubles
I have also had troubles with my touch diamond. Twice I have lost the ABC capability of the full qwerty option and the only option both times was to do a hard reset. The cell phone company could not figure out any other way to fix the problem and it did seem to fix it but there has to be something wrong with the programming to be causing this over and over again.
same as above. stuck number mode for both keyboards on a diamond.
Sometimes it has this kind of problem and when you power it on again it will work well. Everytime when I had this problems, I just power off and on. Then everything is okay. But I don't know the reason. Is that because some apps in the phone? Or the CPU is too busy to react.
I'm having trouble typing on my LG phone. Whenever I hit a key, it registers the key press, but the letters don't appear on screen. I have to keep closing and restarting my apps to get it to type. I did a complete factory reset and it still does it. It runs Gingerbread 2.3.6 This is a replacement phone because my last one broke and it's been doing this ever since I got it no matter which keyboard I use and it does it in any app that requires typing. I also tried clearing the data and cache. Can anyone help me with this?

Have you tried TouchPal X with QWERTZ or other style of keyboard??
It happens with any keyboard that I have, stock or third party.
Must be a hardware portion problem

With the last update to Android 5.0.2 I've the same problem.
On my phone the keyboard crash at least once a day, and I can't type anything, no message, website url or anything other. The only way for me is restart the phone to get back the keyboard working. It's really annoying. I'm looking the way to revert back to 4.4.2 stock but it's seams little difficult!
Today my keyboard decided to no longer use the I key in default view. This is odd because calibrating the keyboard allowed me to use the I key. After calibration finished, it went back to no longer working. I've cleaned my screen protector, and when pressing I, it "clicks" both the u and o key at the same time. This not only affects the keyboard, but in some other instances will not allow me to click a small icon, such as setting in the drop down menu. I've since done a factory reset and even flashed a new rom to no avail. The only possibility is there is a small half bubble at the top edge near the camera, and will have ghost armour replace it if I cannot find a cause as to why this happened. Any suggestions as what I could try?
What version of Android System Webview are you running?

It's a long shot, I don't know how often you update through GooglePlay, or if you even do... I do know that a version of webview made my phone do the same thing, it had dead spots on the screen but only when my keyboard was up in default SMS. I had the same the problems as you, buttons on the other side of the keyboard were being pressed & it was selecting drop down menus to save the text above, copy, etc... I found out the version of webview I had was bad, I know you did a factory reset, but maybe it restored the same the bad version?!?!? Try updating it if possible, or uninstalling updates for that app. It may just work....
Unfortunately it didn't work. In installed updates and tried freezing with tibu. To no avail. Called HTC and all they want to do is me sending phone in for repair. I don't like this option
What carrier do you have the phone through if any at all??

Yeah, sorry about that, i wouldn't be happy about that either. I was wondering if you had a phone carrier, if so which one. It seems as though you didn't buy it through them since you are in contact with HTC. I know HTC warranties your phone up to a year, but they should send a replacement in the meantime if you have to send it in Good Luck, sorry I couldn't be more help. If you have a phone carrier that you purchased it through such as Verizon, they would replace it right away as they have done for me about twice now:good:
I don't have a physical keyboard attached (Bluetooth is off, no OTG dongle attached) to this tablet but for some reason it is permanently stuck in physical keyboard mode. When I bring up the keyboard icon from the drawer it allows me to change 'Physical keyboard' from ON to OFF, but it lies. Bringing it up again stubbornly shows it back to ON.
The first time I rebooted after installing XposedFreeInput, tapping into an input text field brought the on screen keyboard up right away and I almost fell out of my chair. I thought I was hallucinating. So I rebooted again just to make sure and now... it's again locked in physical keyboard mode. Previously I tried the Disable Desk Dock xposed module but that didn't help.
I realize XposedFreeInput was originally created to solve a Samsung problem ("[Q] Bluetooth keyboard switches input method", ...showthread.php?t=2216329), and Disable Desk Dock for a Sony.
Anyone have any idea why XposedFreeInput would only work the one time, and how can I get it to work again?
Edit: Rooted stock 4.1.2.
