I have a bricked phone that I'm trying to find IMEI for it..I don't have the box and it obviously doesn't boot for me to check..is there any other way?
On some phones, the imei is also inside, on a sticker on the motherboard, however, from the teardown videos i have seen, this is not the case. I dont know if the imei is absent, or if they remove the sticker previous to the video shoot. You may give it a try with care of not breaking the flex.

No "seal" so to speak. I had my wifes apart before I returned through warranty for screen issues and there would be no way to tell though there is loctite on the threads of the screws that I suppose could indicate that they had been removed if it is not present though I had no issues with warranty department.
The only warranty voiding sticker that I know about is the moisture sticker under the battery cover.
faaantastic. how might one go about checking a warranty ona device.
Well mine is white and it's never been in water lol so I'm clear.
It's not the main sticker with the build number on it, it's on the side where the battery contacts are
Cheers mate
haven't spotted it on any of the ones i've worked with. Though haven't really had to go so far to look for 'em.
If you got it through ebay, why are you worrying about the void sticker? I wouldn't expect ATT/Samsung to honor anything through that kind of purchase.
its a samsung manufactured phone, the warranty shouldnt matter where the **** you got it. they made it, they should fix it. as long as its not stolen or anything i see no reason they wouldnt honor it.
not playing the troll game, you obviously already have a strong opinion regarding the entirety of this post and jump quickly about it. My stance is my experience versus yours, while I agree with what SHOULD occur and happen, from a business and experience-oriented standpoint it doesn't happen.
Most of the things I've bought on ebay, OEMs wouldn't honor, and if they would I never knew because I never had problems with whatever it was. Just because you bought it fair and square, doesn't mean it wasn't stolen prior or previous owners/users might have done something to get the device blacklisted and that's why it's on the market to begin with(thinking used xbox 360's and wanting to play online multiplayer after the console got caught for being modded). Meh, probably just my paranoia and experience in other markets.
As for Void stickers, generally you would see it before breaking it. Since the manufacturer would have to be able to confirm it is intact before breaking it themselves to conduct repairs. So any stickers like that would generally be fairly blatant and visible before you risk tampering with them. <-- Experience on computer equipment.

I also see no reason why the need to know.
that too! lmfao
If anyone remembers, I had made a post about me dropping my Triumph, and I mentioned that It would no longer take a charge. Anyways I wanted to know if I had broken the glass or the lcd. Now before you ask why the **** did I scratch out the serial numbers. I thought there might have been a hidden screw under that plastic. Of course I'm a noob at this, and honestly I just took pics of the serial numbers as backups. So yeah I just need to find a screen replacement/digitizer. Here are some terrible pics hahaa.... http://imgur.com/a/3sa6z
Did you happen to notice if we can do anything with the antenna?
Would you mind elaborating a bit. In terms of messing with the antenna and changing it? Just let me know I would gladly take more precise pictures.
I didn't even manage to find an antennae there.... Am I blind or is it hiding on another side of a PCB?
Check out Repairs Universe .com for the digi!!
too bad. you could have warranty exchanged it
I know a couple people have asked about repairing the 8x before, but I have a couple specific questions for people who have done it before.
1. Are the digitizer and LCD fused? They sell it both ways on ebay, and I cant seem to find a straight answer about how hard it is to get at just the digitizer to change it.
2. I called a repair shop to see if they could do it, and they said they dont because when it is put together it is clipped together somehow and you have to break those clips to take it apart, anyone have any insight on this?
Only a couple post down from your....
HTC Windows Phone 8X Screen Repair Take Apart Guide
Yeah, and that doesnt answer my questions. It doesnt actually talk about replacing the screen at all, or putting the phone back together, it just talks about taking the back off and some parts out, which I could do. I was hoping someone who has actually repaired this phone could answer my questions.
I decided to go with the LCD & Digitizer together, so I dont have to mess with peeling them apart, but I have another question. Is there a difference between the AT&T and Verizon versions of this phone when it comes to hardware? None of the listings I see anywhere say anything about carrier.
I just connected screen to frame but I lost idea how to reconnect coaxial cables. lol

Good choice. Peeling them apart and fusing them together is a pain and you need good tools. I haven't done it on 8X but in my other screen repairs I won't mess with it. I don't own a heat gun, and as I understand it makes it way easier.
The only difference I've learned of is that the Verizon model has a wireless charging module attached to the back plate. They talk about it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014778&page=2
I believe they support the same bands, but don't quote me on it.
I have a T-Mobile US Note 4 phone. I wanted to start over nice & clean so I did an advanced wipe & wound up with 'No OS'. Should have wiped the internal only I guess. I seriously screwed up. I have tried reinstalling the OEM firmware using Odin with downloads posted on this site. https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...mware-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2902574 There are four versions. I downloaded them all & I unzipped them all. I tried each one & they each have the same error shortly after running FAIL! (Auth). I don't even know which model I specifically have, because I wiped every trace of it away! But if it can only be one of these four.... IDK I'm not script literate. I love my phone. I have no cash flow. PLEEEASE help me. It's 4:11 AM. I have stuff to do tomorrow. I want my phone back. Life is hard. I know it was stupid. Bleh (also hungry, must sleep, god speed Ironman)
Hi
It's very important to find out exactly the model number you have, blindly flashing may cause total damage so, either check on its box or inside of the phone, somewhere on the charging port the model number should be written
A small hint of fixing it here

I'm having a hard time finding the model number. I bought it used so there's no box. Behind the battery there's supposed to be a label. It's been removed. I can still see the adhesive residue where it once was. This is all that's left & when I search for it I come up with nothing. Where the label was ripped of there's a 10 digit number to the right of a copper circle: N4B07KHa1A
Underneath where the battery fits, the last bit of the phone between the corner where the stylus goes & the right bottom corner, there's a small number pressed into the plastic TR - N4 #7-1, except N4 is printed on top while the other's are molded in. The inside of the case has a QR code & printed above it it reads: N910T with a (W) underneath it. The QR code brings up: GH98-35102A. The bottom of the case there's a stamp: S4B20V59H1. OMG There's more of those little molded no.'s. They are innocuous. They mean nothing. I don't know what to do. You're saying downloading & flashing these will destroy my phone?

There are so many to pick from!
What about restoring from SD? Can that harm my phone? Is there by chance data encoded into pics, or anything that are on my SD card that reveal the model number of the phone they are taken with?

If you put your phone in download mode and use kies/smartswitch emergency firmware recovery it will return your phone to factory stock and it will also tell you your exact model number
Okay! That is gold. So let me get your opinion on this... Dude I bought it from fixed it, said I owe him, & that he won't do it again, but check this out. He also informed me this phone is especially touchy, because it was blacklisted & he had to forge the IMEI & make a custom binary for it. It was indeed the original SM-N910T. Now for whatever reason it won't boot into recovery & when I try, rather as is, or installing root, it just get's stuck in 'booting in recovery' /Android logo. To make it worse when l remove the battery & reboot my touch screen calibration is off by a lot. I have to update the firmware with *#2663#. Given all this, do you concur it would be unwise to try your program? Or are you of the mind it's more fail proof?
This post has been opened to know issues relating to sim card replacement for moto g turbo(Merlin).
I'm not sure I understand... Take out the old SIM, insert the new SIM, adjust APN or have carrier auto-provision as necessary, and go on with your day to day activities.
Do you have a specific question or issue?
Actually my first sim card slot which had 3 golden pieces one got removed, will I be ever able to use sim slot 1 again cause everyone is saying that the whole phone has to be opened. Will the phone work as before if they open the whole phone, phone moto g turbo xt1557

Oh... You mean the SIM socket or slot itself. Sorry I misunderstood the issue. I can't help there.
SIM slot (socket) repair is both difficult and risks permanent damage to the logic board. I'm no expert in it myself but I do know that there are a few eBay vendors who deal in replacement slot (socket) modules for very reasonable prices. Replacing the unit -- from everything I've read and seen on the subject -- involves some intricate work with a soldering iron. There are some YouTube instructional videos should you wish to try.
From everything I've seen through replacement parts and teardown videos, you can complete this repair without soldering anything.
That being said, it does have its risks. It does require you to do almost a complete teardown of the phone in order to get access to the main logic board to remove and replace with a new sim flex connector. They're pretty reasonable for price on ebay, and do not need to be soldered, but you'd do well to order and replace the frame sticker as well.
Keep in mind that you will no longer have the ip67 (water/dust) rating after opening your phone. (The replacement frame stickers generally don't claim to prevent water penetration.) Aside from that, the phone will function as before (provided that the repair is completed properly).
On the other hand, if the second sim is still working, and you don't need the dual sim functionality, you can always leave it as...

Ahhh. I see what you mean. This model sports the flex connector versus Moto's usual solder connected slot. I stand corrected. Good info.
