no changes between firmwares? - Moto X4 Guides, News, & Discussion

the thing is:
I have my XT1900-7 RETEU.
Installed any version from the official stock links and still saying XT1900-7 reteu. I mean, i installed XT1900-2 , XT1900-6 , etc but i dont see any changes.
It should work in this way?
im trying this because in my operator, VoLTE is supported only in XT1900-6 RETBR version. So installed that firmware but when finished in android settings i see XT1900-7 RETEU.

Crossflashing firmwares doesn't change model number or software channel.

That number is the model number of the hardware of the actual phone itself. It can't be changed because a different number would literally mean a physically different phone. Also, you could brick your phone flashing firmware for other models. Be careful.

Any confirmed G930F Nougat updates yet ?

All I see problem and not downloading. Is there any confirmed downloads and installs of Nougat on G930F , like on any continent ?
No there isn't. Bye

What do you mean? British BTU officially updated two days ago and it's available for download, or I'm just not understanding your question? XD
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
It downloaded yesterday both of mine and my wife's S7's (UK - SG930F - Unlocked Version)
Yes I also got the BTU OTA 3 days ago. I was having unlock issues, basically requiring me to enter pin most of the time and not accepting fingerpint unlock. Deleted and entered my fingerprints then a factory reset and still the same. Flashed back to australian firmware and the problem went away. Samsung Pay also does not work for US users with BTU firmware but it works fine with australian. So I'm back to waiting and hope when I get the next OTA the unlock issue doesn't happen again. I personally wasn't blown away but I only stayed with it a day. I didn't like the new notification panel...but I'm sure most do.
I have also had problems with my S7 on Nougat BTU. My S7 is a ETL (Checz Unlocked) in Spain. Data connection doesn't seem to work. All works except that (calls, sms, wi-fi). I tried also O2C, also Nougat. I've downgraded to MM ETL and Data connection works fine. I'm now downloading MM BTU, just in case data works in MM. If it does, I will try to upgrade to N.
You are missing point guys. I have regular international unbranded (no carrier) version of SGS7 Model G930F. Question is this.
Is there any confirmed OTA downloads and successful updates without ANY modifications. Download and install just simply by going into download manually or automatic notification about Nougat available just like any other update. I see ODIN, BTU some other crap that I need to do. NO. I want OTA without doing anything. So once again is there any confirmed OTA updates for international version of G930F. Like Right now I have software version: G930FXXU1BPLB/G930FOJV1BPK2/G930FXXU1BPJJ
If you can point of what EXACT version of international unit I have that'll be great because if people receiving updates already I don't understand why I am not.
P.S.
I do understand there are different versions of G930F but all I want is OTA to Nougat without doing anything.
Thanks !

Only country code BTU has OTA update for Nougat, if your G930F is not running a BTU CSC, you have to wait
Or, flash BTU Marshmallow and you'll get the OTA straight away

I flashed all except HOME_CSC
(CSC will reset the phone to factory defaults)
Which is a good thing for a major OS upgrade IMO
Does anyone have a link to BTU_CSC?the CSC in the BTU 7.0 firmware doesn't change my product code
That is my point. BTU is a variant of G930F. How about All of them ? I mean they're not saying some variants are being updated, they're saying G930F and G935F being updated. I wish someone had some understand or some stats of what variants are receiving update.

Galaxy s7 "updates software" option missing

Hi, I have just bought a brand new galaxy S7, model SM-G930F.
Although it is an international model, it carries a snapdragon 820 processor.
I am told , that it is a USA model, built under Verizon.
SM-G930F is supposed to be a global model with exynos, does anyone knoes what is the phone I bought?
Anyway, my real problem is, that the "updates software" option is missing, in "about phone" list.
I am stuck in android 6.0.1
I checked it is not rooted and it must be a genuine phone.
Can anybody guide me through solutions?
I would really appreciate any help.
Thank you
Moving to general S7 Q&A since you say it's a SM-G930F.
Check the back of the phone and verify the phone model. You should be able to update through other options like Kies, unless they've changed that recently.

It's not a G930F if it has a Snapdragon processor
Commonly faked to look like G930F by editing firmware / stickers / model numbers etc, more likely to be the G930V if it's Verizon
Boot to download mode and check the model number in there, that's the only one that can not be faked
(Volume Down & Home & power)
And they likely removed the update option from settings to prevent any problems of the phone updating to either the wrong firmware, or removing their fake edits with a V update
Flash the proper firmware with ODIN 3.12.3 or newer from updato.com once you know your model S7
Galaxy s7 "updates software" option missing
Dear Durham,
Thanks for the help.
Yes, you are right; it is G930V.I have been tricked...
I have visited updato.com and found 12 variants of S7 firmware.
My bootlader version is - 6.0.1 November 20, 16 USA (Verizon) (VZW) G930VVRU4API3
Shall I download and install this one and afterwards make a manual software update or
shall I install the latest - 7.0 August 25, 17 USA (Verizon) (VZW) G930VVRS4BQH1 ?
After successful installation, will these firmware fake modifications( to G930F) disappear permanently?
I am much obliged
Thanks

The ROMs from updato.com are full ROMs so you can just flash the latest / newest one and you'll be 100% up to date once it boots
Use CSC and not HOME_CSC though as you are going to want to reset after the flash to clear any hacks from the previous ROM (This will wipe the device so backup any important files first)
CSC, AP, BL and CP
Yes this will permanently remove any modifications from the faked ROM
Wish me luck, I will give it a go!
You have been most informative, many thanks.
Good luck :good:

The good news is that the verizon edition can be rooted and is network unlocked from the factory so as long as ure carrier supports the bands it will still work for you on a side note flash the u firmware not verizon and u wont have any verizon bloatware out of the gate either
Mad scientist, thank you for your intervention.
Just to be clear, which firmware do you suggest me to install, not the verizon G930V?
Could I install the G930F for my country (Europe).
I thought they are incompatible...
As my bootloader version G930V I think I would better stick with the V version.
Are you suggesting not to upgrade to nougat and reinstall factory installed 6.0.1 and better wait for 8?
Yes you are right, I am not good at twiking. Will I have drain baterry issues with nougat?
Dear Durham,
Emergency help!!!!
I installed it succesfully but now it does not recognize my sim card, as it is from a non USA country.
Should I reflash a different firmware? F or U ?
I am from Greece
It seems to be working...
The Verizon logo appears upon starting the phone
But in language selection, there is only English and asian languages available.
Software update finally appeared.
In order to have my langage back, should I reflash with the U ( unlocked version) or the F (global)?
No mobile data.
Maybe I am calling through Verizon.Roaming.Expensive.Scarry...!!
He means that the G930U firmware will flash fine on the G930V, it is the same firmware but without the Verizon bloatware added
You can not flash any other firmwares, it just happens that those two are compatible with each other
Flash straight to the latest
So I shall flash the G930U?
Will my sim card be recognized and mobile data be active.
Nougat 7 or MM 6-your opinion, again?
thnks
No idea if your SIM will be recognised, but if it's not working with the V firmware it's worth a try
As I said, flash the latest firmware which is Nougat
Personally I would be contacting the seller and asking for a refund / exchange for a real G930F that you paid for
firmware
I tried, but he is not cooperative.
How about F version-it worked with it before ?
(only it was modified with the dissapearance of system update.)

No you cannot flash any other model firmware, that was NOT the G930F firmware, it was a hacked / faked U or V firmware
I think you better read a good few threads before going much further or you're going to end up with a brick
Contact the seller and request a refund
Don't suppose you can flash CSC files of the 930F on 930V?
Dear all,
Thank you for your help and interest in my problem.
This is indeed a great forum!!!
I tried to flash the F version, but thankfully odin stopped it from the beginning, presenting "failed" message.
I suppose if it continued, I would end up with a brick as Durham suggested.
Finally I flashed he U version, as mad scientist suggested, and up to now it works like a charm.
As Durham advised, I used CSC and not HOME_CSC and the hack was eliminated.
Sim card is recognized, no bloatware and mobile data working.
Let's hope it will continue like this...!!!
Only glitch, not everything is in my home language ( message icon name and in settings-the menu options-any idea how to fix it? - I removed english and left only my language as selection, but onle these remain untranslated)-small problem
I have learned a valuble lesson from my adventure.
Ebay, an organized platfrom may it be, it cannot control each individual's deceivals, so one must be extra wary when buyng from unofficial sources, nomatter good reviews from others...
Thanks again to you all for your help, I would be in serious position right now, if it weren't for you guys.

Help and guide to update to oreo

Greeting, folks. Yesterday a got a brand new Mate 9 with a carrier in Colombia (South America). SInce I did some research I found that my current version (MHA-L09C25B16) is a custom ROM (I don't really know if the version is for the country or the carrier). I was wondering some things.
1. I searched on the web and used FF but could not find a ROM compatible with my current version
2. I'd like to know if there is some chance of updating without having to unlock the bootloader and install a ROM by flashing the device.
3. I need some guide on how to change my software to an European version so I can have the latest updates always.
Thanks in advance.

Hmmm.
1. I found only MHA-L09C25B106 OTA in FF. It is old version.
2. No chance. In case of rebranding you have to unlock bootloader, cause need change oeminfo.
3. There is guide but there is one problem also.
You have MHA-L09 that is one-sim model.
Oeminfo mha-l09c432 is not original, it was created from dual-sim model. Even if you're rebranded to this you will get gui elements of second sim.
Guide to rebrand: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
Additional problem is that you can't back to C25 region. MHA-L09C25B106 is OTA rom, not Full-ota. It can't be installed over other regions.
P.s. it would be better to sell this model and get dual-sim L29 model. Even if you're not using second sim, you are able to use sdcard in second slot.
Well...I went a little deeper in my "search" and found something (I think).
Officially there's no C25 Software model... It´s a Custom ROM for the carrier Claro (CUST C25D005). A custom, I SUPPOSE, was created from C605 Official Software (which happens to be, Official Colombia Model...Other Mate 9 sold unlocked in Colombia are MHA-L09C605).
So...my guess is... Even if the version is the C25 custom...could I install a C605 ROM?
And...in case I could do it...how would I do it?
Thanks a lot 5[Strogino]

I never faced with this customization and never read that anyone did it.
There are some ROMs for L09C605, so you can go to this region, but imho you need L09C605 oeminfo.
Huawei uses localization model of ROMs. When flashing phone looks like generic model (M300). Then script finds metadata in oeminfo to generate product and vendor partitions. If metadata is not match, you will get wrong info in "About phone".
Maybe I can be wrong and in your case there is simple process of inherited region. But who knows? As I said, there is no way to return to stock state.

Well then. Whenever the OREO update is released for the C605 region I would definitely do it. Would you please indicate me how to change the OEM info file? And how do I update when I have the .zip file? Do not know much about these processes.
I was wondering too... Why some updates contain three zip files?

To change oeminfo, you can place L09C605 oeminfo into directory for oeminfos
Or you can change bin file in TWRP backup and restore it.

[Samsung S20 UW][SM-G981V] What's the latest firmware for this device? [Android 11]

I've spent hours researching and digging up anything I could about what my situation is actually about and the different ways everything could've been done. This, and 1 other option are pretty much all I got left to cross off the list...
So, I already have the Phone INFO ★SAM★ app, I jotted down what it's stating the current firmware is and then I decided to check with the Firmware Browser and that's where I'm confused - There's 5 versions listed, none of which are the one that's on the phone.
Browser has as the latest firmware:
'DUDA'
2021-05-16

Latest firmware listed on my phone:
'DUE2'

Am I wrong? Or is something up?
Basically the four letter/numbers you quoted ( DUDA and DUE2 ) is part of the firmware file name that tells you OS upgrades, year, month and revision number. The higher the letter/number the later the release. ie: DUE2 is the latest release.
Looking at your model number ( SM-G981V ) i can see two company/carriers that produce firmware for this device.
USA (Verizon) (VZW)
Comcast (CCT)
The USA(verzion) latest version is G981VSQU2DUDA while Comcast is G981VSQS2DUE2. Not all Companies will release firmware updates at the same time.
In regards to the Phone INFO ★SAM★ app i would say that it's checking for the latest version available for your model number but not carrier pacific ones.
Edit: The latest firmware for S20 5G UW (Model SMG981VZAV)(verszion) is G981VSQS2DUE2.
Looking at website like Sammobile may not be up to date with the current releases.

If your csc is verizon (vzw) and have a verizon sim card then your updates will be verizon. Generally all firmware will have the same file name through all carriers. Where i live my firmware name falls under OXM, which is a multi CSC format, where it has a range of csc for different countries/carriers.
As i said looking up firmware on website like sammobile or updato may not have the current releases yet. It should be noted that these website are the full version firmware of your phone and requires a PC and odin to install. Updating through your phone using software update does not install the full firmware just security updates ,bootloader version and major OS updates.
If you what to learn more (about csc) there are plenty of websites out there that can explain it better than me. It can be a bit more involved than saying i am on verizon (vzw).

Question Trouble using HOME_CSC in Android 13 ODIN 3.14 updates.

I've noticed that since Android 13, using ODIN 3.14.x to update your firmware, you can not longer select HOME_CSC to avoid a factory reset and loss of your existing apps and data. Selecting that generates a WRITE FAILURE and results in a corrupt and failed update. This has happened with the last two 721U Android 13 updates. Anyone else seeing this?
Works fine on my unlocked 721B model.
Hmmm, Perhaps the issue affects only US carrier firmware. I believe the 721B is a European version, (UK)?
