Phone stuck at a bootloop - Xiaomi Redmi 6 Questions & Answers

Hello, firstly allow me to apologize for my English and long post.
I had a problem with TWRP not being able to perform any action due to not being able to mount data, after searching on the internet it was suggested to flash the recovery with OrangeFox, which I did but wish I hadn't.
Now my phone constantly reboots without showing anything on the screen, was it not for the vibration I would think that it was completely dead. It should be noted that it currently has no working ROM inside (hence why I was trying to flash another one with TWRP which was not working), before flashing OrangeFox when I opened it it went straight to the recovery, although it did show the Xiaomi brand while booting. Now I'm unable to perform any action, including the most important one, accessing the bootloader in order to flash another recovery. Is there anything that can be done by me? Is it dead for good? Do I have to send it to a technician?(I would rather try everything before that)

You may have to re-flash TWRP via ADB fastboot. Once you are done go straight to TWRP

I cannot access the bootloader to flash TWRP. I cannot also use ADB to reboot to bootloader because it doesn't recognize the device, it says "no devices connected" or something similar. When I was able to access the phone I had to change the usb mode to DIMI or something similar, I don't quite remember how it was called.

Same problem here
My redmi 6 is broken with a black screen and vibrates about every 10 seconds or so
sp flash tool might solve your problem; you can download the stockroom of your phone from the official website and try to flash it through SP Flash tool;
it's supposed to work but it didn't work for me; I get an error message ( BROM_CMD_FAIL) and MI flash tool asks for authorized account
I hope that you can fix your phone

Thanks for the information but that that was one of the first things I did; didn't work for me either. I gave it to Xiaomi to fix it, I expected to have to pay even though my phone is still in warranty but strangely they fixed it for free. I didn't tell them how it happened though, I just told them that it had stop working. I suppose that they didn't care to check whether I had done something on the device.

You still can just boot into your fastboot. You can't see it but if you manage to blindly boot into it, you'll see it in "fastboot devices"

Unfortunately, it didnt. I had to contact someone online to flash my phone with team viewer as he had an authorized mi account. It worked like charm
If it asks for an authorized account, then you have no other solution. That's what I learnt as I tried every possible solution I came across in the internet.

I contacted an Egyptian guy in facebook to fix the phone.
Not sure if it is allowed to post his profile link here as it will be counted as advertisement?
It cost me only $4.* (Around 5 dollars in PayPal). That was a year ago, I don't know if he still charges the same amount.

He is an Arab, I dunno if he speaks English. So I can try to contact him for you, but I will take no responsibility. I will link you together if you want. But, beyond this, I won't be involved.
I dealt with him, I paid him before I got my phone fixed, He gave me files to download and then he controller my laptop and used his account to flashy phone. So I only dealt with him once, and he was trustworthy at that time. But I can assure you nothing. It is up to you.

I'm in touch with a guy with and authorized EDL account for Xiaomi, who speaks Spanish and English, but he's not sure I'm plugging the phone in EDL mode, he insists that I must use the test points, I tried everything but I can't find them. So, was your phone before flashing just rebooting in a loop with a totally black screen and just small vibration after some seconds? That Arab guy was able to come alive your phone just with sp flashtools and an authorized account?
I guess my phone is in the same kind of brick that yours were, the only way to detect it in my laptop is keeping press the volume up button after plug and it appears in the devices manager just for a second unless I tried some operation with sp flashtools (error status_brom_cmd_fail (0xc0060005) by the way). Is this the same state your phone was?
Thank you so much for your help.

Hi @Pradeep1998, as far as I know, the only way to unbrick a phone in that state is using sp flashtools, you won't be able to flash an image using miflash because the phone is unable to boot in recovery or fastboot modes.
I assumed the only thing I need to unbrick the phone is an authorized account to login when trying to flash.
I can tell you what steps I did to get to this point:
Install all necessary drivers on the computer to detect the phone. I presume you already have them.
Open device manager on Windows and plug the phone, in the USB computer port, with button volume + pressed. Wait a while and you should see a new interface show in just for 1-2 seconds. It appears every time the phone boot.
If you can see the device, it's time to try to flash:
Download and install MiFlash Pro. It includes a flashtool version integrated in some way with Xiaomi account, which is necessary to login and unlock the bootloader during flashing.
Download an image to flash for redmi 6 (cereus)
Download auth & DA files for spflash. I'm not sure if it's important use one or another, I use these that I got from some forum.
Open MiFlash Pro app and, in the top bar, you can see spflash, click there and spflashtool app will launch.
Load scatter file from cereus image and DA & auth files. If it throws a validation error loading the files, go to the options and uncheck one item to avoid validation (it has exactly the same name that the error)
Click Download, plug the phone with volume + pressed and when the app starts to flash a login Xiaomi miaccount windows will be shown; if you fill with your username data it will say, unauthorized account or something similar.
I hope this information is useful to you. Greets.

My phone had the same issue with yours ( black screen, vibrates every 4 or 5 seconds, and the laptop detects it only for a second when I plug it pressing power button as I remember, and sp flashtools gives me an error ( BROM_START FAIL SOMETHING) so it was exactly the same error. By the way, according to my knowledge there is no EDL mode for MTK devices ( redmi 6 comes with an MTK cpu).
The guy repaired it with mi flash tool ( mi flash comes with an sp flashtool that kept asking me for an authorized account).
So I think that your device can be fixed with an authorized mi account.

Are you still able to start a fastboot flash?
If so (or you don't know) go to the Mi site and download tha stable global rom and try to fastboot flash it.

But can you start the fastboot via Volume Down-Power buttons?
So power down the phone, push Volume Down and keep it pushed.
Then press Power until you see the MI logo.
Release the power button, but keep the Volume down button until you see the Fastboot screen.
If that works, connect the phone to the computer and try again via fastboot flash.

Sorry, i missed that in the opening post.
Most people call it bricked when it is not, i was assuming that in this case too.
Sorry.
In this case i cannot help you, i don't have that info.
When it comes to a hard bricked device, I'll just go to a Xiaomi Service Center in the nearest place around me.
I don't really know about Xiaomi's warranty policy, because they're vague. They don't have a clear policy for rooted devices. For Samsung they will void your warranty when they know it's rooted, but it's not clear in Xiaomi's case. I heard a rumor, though, that rooting doesn't void your warranty on Xiaomi, but if you want to keep to the safe side, do this.
Go to the nearest Xiaomi Service Center in your country, don't forget to bring your warranty card or at least a receipt of your Mi 4i purchase. Take your time waiting for your turn, and then when you're called, go to them and say that your phone won't turn on. If they ever ask you of what happened, just say that you want to update your MIUI version (don't mention that it is rooted), it is successful, but when you want to reboot it, it just shuts down and won't budge.
If you ever asked whether your phone is rooted or not, just say that you don't know anything about root.
How'd you bricked it? Can you explain

Since you don't have service center. You'll have to unbrick it yourself. First thing you have to find is the download points for the mi4i. I would suggest posting this thread on MIUI forums.

i was flashing a fastboot rom with miflash... before the flashing ends somehow the device got disconnected, from that moment no fastboot mode...
Since the installation was interrupted. The partition of eMMc is probably messed up.
So the only solution you have to get the phone to download mode. Don't hit and try test points. Curiousity kills
Even if you get it to download mode. You must have a partition image. Which can be obtained from someone's working mi4i. It would be a huge image. Somewhat around 16gb so it's not possible to upload such a large file
You can try to get some info from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/yureka/help/question-qualcomm-download-mode-k-t3068040

And possibly if their is no hardware issue then definately led light is blinking.
so please tell ......light is blinking or not.if yes then i wil provide u solution for hardbricking MI4i without touching pin points.

Strangest "Bricked" Oneplus One: No recovery, locked OS, can't unlock bootloader

Strangest "Bricked" Oneplus One: No recovery, locked OS, can't unlock bootloader
Hi there, I've come in to the possession of the most stubbornly bricked phone that I've ever seen . Bought a OPO off Craigslist, someone cracked the screen and sold it for cheap instead of fixing it. It had been remote wiped but still has some strange difficult software. Posted this problem to the Oneplus Forum but have had no response, thought XDA would be more qualified!
From what I can tell it's a Oneplus One that was sold through a re-seller that replaced all the software on the phone with a high-security version of Android. It's called EncroChat and from their website (encrochat.network or encrochatsure.com) it looks like it removes the recovery from the phone and replaces it with an EncroChat OS (some kind of Cyanogen) that you can boot to in addition to the Android OS.
Well I assume during the remote wipe something went wrong with the software and the phone no longer really functions. It boots up fine but can't connect to Wifi, cellular, not detected when connected to my PC, and has no real apps to speak of. I think most of the device's drivers are missing. Trying to boot to recovery instead boots to their EncroChat OS which is locked behind a password that neither I nor the person I bought it from knows.
I can get to fastboot and my PC will detect the phone then but running the bootloader unlock command doesn't work, the phone just reboots into the locked EncroChat OS. My idea now is to try and hardbrick the phone and then re-do everything on the phone over again, but I can't figure out how to do that. Does anyone else have any ideas?
Contacting EncroChat
Tried contacting EncroChat via email form, twitter, and reddit. No luck! Still stuck with this. I want to try this unbrick guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-unbrick-oneplus-one-t3013732 for hardbricks but I can't get my phone to show as QHSUSB_BULK or Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. Hello dude,
While it was quite some time when I did this unbrick, it was successful ...expect ALL data to be deleted from phone. Google is your friend and I did get all the files from somewhere
You use a special software from the phone, it's coloros software and with provided files it recognise the phone and flash it(2-3 seperate flashes through the software if I remember correctly) - don't worry as long as the phone turns on(mine was turning on but did nothing ...blank, only way to turn it off was to hold power button and hold it(forced turn off))
P.S. The phone wasn't recognised by the OS ...only from this app(cool? ..weird if you ask me - I'm a computer repair tech guy and find this hard to believe if it didn't happen and see it with my own eyes - on the other hand it could be somewhere hidden in the system and recognised like something else so I won't put my hand in fire to verify this )
Thanks!

Hi there, sorry in advance this might not be very helpful in your situation. I ended up using the ColorOS repair tool for Oneplus One that I mentioned earlier in the post. It turned out I just didn't have the correct drivers so once I sorted those out the tool was able to bypass all the software and replace everything on the phone so that I could then install my own OS.
I guess the trick would be to find a version of this tool for OneplusX. I'm not sure if there is one available, I haven't looked. Maybe make a separate post about that? The ColorOS tool I'm talking about is from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55024864&postcount=136 and it just looks directly for the Qualcomm chip and writes to that. I'm not sure where that tool came from, if it made its way out of Oneplus directly or if someone created it afterwards...

DEAD Lumia 1020 (RM-875) from failed flash (WPinternals v2.3 crashed mid flash)

Hi all,
I had hoped that my 1st post on here would be rather more positive than my current situation. Having refurbished my old Lumia 1020 for my son as his 1st mobile I decided to push my luck and try to install Windows 10. From looking at numerous guides it seemed that any failures should be recoverable via WDRT or WPinternals etc.
Unfortunately I killed my phone at the 1st stage :crying: (attempting to unlock the bootlocker using WPinternals v2.3), WPinternals v2.3 crashed mid flash. The phone, which was working perfectly beforehand now refuses to show any signs of life other than if I disconnect the battery and then plug in the charger I get a quick flash from the Windows button. I've tried the various methods for hard and soft resets but the phone fails to response, it is also not picked up by WDRT or WPinternals v2.3.
I'm confident the motherboard hasn't physically failed as it hadn't shown any signs of the eMMC issue where it gradually gets slower and slower before finally dying and returning the infamous "ERROR: Unable to find a bootable option" error. Assuming the hardware is okay, are there any further options I can try before letting a repair centre with JTAG facilities loose on it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion/help etc.
EDIT - Trying to hard reset does generate a small sign of life in that periodically the Windows logo will illuminate for approximately 2 seconds whilst the volume down and power buttons are being pressed.
Send it to me, i need camera lens as mine is broken
I use latest win 10 on my lumia 1020.
Have you tried downloading the the ffu file and flashing it using the command prompt? see this link forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515453
Have you found a solution? I experienced the same issue and still didn't find a local service place to handle JTAG solution...i'm little stuck and i know the phone doesn't have any physical damage. I will try following the tutorial below...but not sure if it will work

Hello!
Hope you still have your phone.
Don`t panic. Had the same situation yesterday.
When it was 30 seconds for ending unlock, WPinternals 2.4 just crashed. Twice (Tried this again after flashing orig FFU file).
WPinternals v2.3 and 2.4 don`t work correctly with WP 8.1 (as I understood).

How to recover phone:
1. Download WPinternals 1.2 here https://www.wpinternals.net/index.php/downloads.
2. Download original FFU file (firmware) from here http://www.lumiafirmware.com/ser/RM-875/guid/059T1G8.
3. Run WPinternals 1.2 and go to "Flash" section.
4. Scroll to "Flash original FFU" section.
5. Select the original FFU file, downloaded in step 2.
6. Flash it.
7. Then wait.
Worked for me. Maybe WPinternals v2.4 can flash correctly too, but don`t experiment with that.
To unlock bootloader on Lumia 1020 with WP8.1 you need WPinternals 1.2.
And this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-10-mobile/guide-unlock-lumia-x2x-enable-mass-t3369360.
Hope this post will help anybody.
Well i pass the other day from the service center and incredible, but they didn't even try to fix it...i hope they didn't steal anything from it. They didn't quote a mainboard replacement even!!! crazy. I've the phone back and i will try the "dmkovtun" suggestion. The condition is the same...phone looks dead and after cable connection window logo turns on briefy and then nothing. If this time try outs doesn't end well i guess the only solution for me here would be to do a MB replacement since i lack the tools for a JTAG intervention...

In case i cannot restore it i would definetly consider to get the most of it. i will take it into account.
Recover your bricked Lumia 1020 (If it has signs of life)
If you're able to see signs of life "like partial Windows Logo" or even worst Blank (bricked) phone- Nothing on screen, no vibrations, etc. But you're able to hear USB connection sounds in PC when connecting.
Then this will work.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In my case, device was blank but I was able to see in Device Manager>Ports>QHS_USB_DLoad (COM19) when I connected my bricked Lumia 1020.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess you are already having Windows Device Recovery Tool (earlier called Windows Phone Recovery tool). If you've used it earlier..then I guess you might already have got Firmware Files.
You can find them by default at: "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Packages\Products\ or your custom download location.
Additionally, you need to download Emergency Files for your Lumia. It must be exactly for your Product Variant (or Model).
You can download Emergency Files from lumiafirmware.com/ (You can ask for help if confused there.)
Also, if you think you're not having Firmware files..then you can get them from that same website also. (Infact, on the very page of your Emergency files)
Place Emergency files (".mbn" and "".hex") you downloaded in same folder . (eg: under....\Products\RM-875\ALL FILES HERE)
---------------------------------------------------
Now, all you need to do is....launch WDRT and choose "My phone is not detected". You'll see RM-875_blah-blah..select and follow-up!
*****Make sure to charge your device for atleast 1-hour before attempting WDRT operations. Even if you can't see it charging.*****

Thanks for posting this. You described exactly what I am experiencing on my Lumia 1020 (RM-877). My device was like this for several months and I gave up on it until recently when my Lumia 950XL appears to have died. I have tried Windows Device Recovery Tool (3.14) numerous times and for some reason it lists all sorts of other Lumias (including the Icon & 930) but there is no listing for the Lumia 1020 (RM875 or 877). I'll share what I've tried in this thread and hope you can find the fix for your device.

Thanks for sharing this. My device issues are identical to 1979damian. I've followed all the steps you provided including placing the necessary FFU, emergency and support files in c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Packages\Products\rm877 folder.. When I run WDRT, the following occurs:
* My device wasn't detected
* I click on LUMIA
* A list of multiple Lumia devices appears from the 435, 1520, Icon & 930. No sign of Lumia 1020 (RM-875 or 877)
* I click on My device is not on the list
* I receive the message "The connected device cannot be recovered"
This occurs even after I have cleaned up the application logs, packages & report files or if I toggle between the "Care Suite Emergency Connectivity aka QHSUSBZ_DLOAD" or the "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 aka QualcommHS-USB QDLoader9008(COM10)" driver.
Would you have any thoughts on additional steps to fix this issue?

This post did it! Thanks @dmkovtun!
@1979Damian... Prior to running the above steps, I ran a boot restore pointing to the FFU file (RM877_3051.50009.1424.0000_RETAIL_nam_canada_234_00_442472_prd_signed.ffu for me) & the folder where the emergency flash loader was stored. Once the bootloader was restored, I had a red screen with a white Nokia logo. I was then able to run the steps that dmkovtun provided. My 1020 is now running updates. Good luck to you!

Thx for the reply and help.
Let me see if I can find a hardware solution. In the mean time perhaps you can point me out someone able to receive the MB (board) in order to apply the "treatment".
I remember a Samsung innov8 I had and I start playing with and ended up sending it for repair after a bad flash to Ukraine...and returned flawlessly...so that's what I considering at this time knowing that locally no one has the hardware tools and time to.do.what I need.

Yes it appears as HID device....I remember I read about that but found a dead end. according to the ID in devices manager meant about discharged battery or broken bootloader. mines seems to be option 1. Besides that if you plug the charger...win logo blinks a few seconds and then nothing.

[HELP] Bricked Oneplus 6 - Qualcomm CrashDump - already tried everything

Hi everyone!
Well guys, sorry to bring this subject on thread again (because this forum has a lot of guides to solve this problem).
But I'm without hope with my phone at this moment.
Let me tell you guys my sad story...
I have an Oneplus 6 since december 2018, and never, NEVER, tried to use any modification on my phone.
I am from Brazil (so sorry for my bad english =] ), and here we CANNOT use Oneplus Support services (I've tried but only received the response "sorry I cannot help you on your country"), so because of this, I've decided to never apply any modification to avoid problems.
This week after a simple reboot my OP6 started with "Qualcomm CrashDump" error and my despair begins.
I'm not able to enter on Fastboot Mode. When I try, the systems attempt to boot (the fastboot mode logo appears) and fall down into crash again.
I'm not able to enter on Recovery Mode either. This method shows nothing, only black screen and after some time the crash screen comes again.
I do not have Bootloader unlocked too.
Any suggestion to use TWRP via fastboot.exe or ADB are useless, because I cant make the connection. At least I think that is impossible because the 'adb devices' command does not find the device.
I followed a lot of guides from XDA to solve my problem, including the Mega Unbrick Thread.
I already downloaded at least 8 different versions of msmdownloadtool in consecutive attempts of unbrick my phone. Nothing really helps.
The most weird situation is that msmDownlodTool can finish the proccess with success. The driver installation is working... everything seens OK using the tool but my phone does not revive
Someone have a suggestion for me?
Any suggestion, tool or alternative method is welcome in my actual situation.
Sorry if I posted at wrong local, just tell me and I can fix if necessary.
Thanks in advance to all of you guys.

so you can't boot into fastbootmode anymore?

Yes, I am unable to enter into Fastboot Mode.
When I try, the logo saying "fastboot" appears, but after 4 seconds, the systems stucks on CrashDump error screen again.
That way my PC cannot find my phone with ADB or FASTBOOT commands.
The only tool that works is msmDownloadTool, but even with a success run with that tool, my system does not start and stills under CrashDump error.
I was thinking if exists some version of msmDownloadTool that justs restore the fastboot and unlock bootloader with brute force.
Thats my last hope

Source is a videotutorial. google oneplus 6 hardbrick and click the video of Max Lee
(it worked for me)
the download takes an awful lot of time
first get your phone into qualcomm download mode by holding down volume up + power button and plug your device in your PC.
(first unzip the hardbrick zip folder) then the oneplus 6 folder and than the .exe file and click 'start' if it detects your phone.
That is flashing every chip and Hydrogen OS 5.whatever.3 but that is not important. Your phone should boot and than you can install Oxygen OS with android 10(thats the other zip folder) using the local upgrade feature.
(make sure to enable google play services after upgrade from hydrogen OS)
Hope it will work for you too if you haven't tried it already.

Need help! No fastboot!

I was on Crdroid and wanted to get back into Miui since there was weekly miui 12 version now. Downloaded it and flashed it but it would not boot. I remembered on poco i had that i needed to flash latest miui andro 9 before flashing latest miui andro 10 for some reason so i got back into twrp and did it. After reboot it went into some sort of boot loot and i lost any recovery and fastboot. Cant get into edl for that matter also. Anyone has any suggestion?
Can you elaborate a bit more, when you try to boot into fastboot with the button combination, does it work?
Do you get any indications when trying to turn on your phone?

Button combination gives me blank screen and revovery gives MI logo and just that until it rebots and stays like that in some loop. I can get into test mode after opening it to try QFill flashing but i forgot about account authorisation thing. I do not have any type of service center in my country that wants to deal with this. Issue is probably due to anti rollback policy in 2s. So i need solution to flash somehow thru qualcomm port but aparently only wth that account that has authorisation.
Thats where i got till now. Spent a whole day also at 4pda trying to find solution but nothing there worked for me

Oh that's unfortunate! I think that in this case you will need to find someone with an authorized account that will flash it for you remotely. There have been some people around here offering that service for a small fee but it might be worth paying as that might be the only way to fix it.
Same thing happend to me, first time i tried using custom rom. i dont know what exactly happened. i think its have something common with anti-rollback feature. I sent the divice to OFFICIAL service center.... I told them "use mi flash tool and authorised account to flash fastboot rom in edl" These OFFICIAL trained technicians... ehm idiots... change whole mother board.... atleast they count it as warrasnty repair.... there is one guy on reddit who succesfull unbricked his device via "shady bussines" (there is also contact on reddit page)... some guys offer xiaomi unbrick services via teamviewer. you can give it a try: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/ftix9v/shady_services_unbrick_with_mi_authorised_account/ EDIT: its last reply reddit (hope its allowed to post links)
note: you can put yr device in edl mode by pressing powerbutton. im not sure if its pressing or holding. (yr phone need to by connected to pc, then mi flash detect the phone if all drivers are instaled, it should be shown in "windows device manager" as PORT named "qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008")
if you dont have authorised acc. this will happen https://imgur.com/a/oJVpKEl so you need someone with authorised account who will unbrick yr phone via teamviewer [Sorry for my bad english]
Ijust dont understand why xiaomi dont allow user flashing in edl mode... or just make harder to brick phone... i had oneplus and i never bricked it. bricking xiaomi is just super easy thank to their stupid anti-rollback and other b****its. i will never use custom rom on xiaomi again. i will dont buy xiaomi again
Did you try the MI Flash app? ...try to fastboot and check if mi flash works
Also try fastboot(combo-buttons only) and see if you can see the phone (cmd -> fastboot devices) ...if you see a device then you are good to go
If you have a fastboot miui rom you can use my guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/help/weird-behavior-boot-loop-random-t4086703
It's like using MI flash program but doing it manually - if mi flash gives you issues or else
P.S. CMD MUST be with administrator rights of course!
Hi Guys,
got a big problem here today. after installing on orangefox a miui11 stable rom suddenly flashlight went on and it stopped to install it... i was like WTF? so i have go to reboot to the recovery and my mix 2s DIED.
now
1) battery is drained
2) no fastboot (black screen on vol down + power key)
3) no recovery (black screen on vol up + power key)
4) bootloop on miui logo
any idea?
