Just replaced my battery and it hasn't improve one bit - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey guys, I just replaced my battery 3 days ago and I noticed no difference in screen on time. I always get 4 hours and never above that. My old battery was 2+ years old and I replaced it with a brand new, but still no improvements! I'm using BlackDiamond V2 pie rom with ArianoxxKernel, while using basic Social media apps such as instagram, snapchat, facebook and twitter.
AccuBattery estimates only about 80% battery health. Would anyone be able to help me out? I really want to know how other people are able to get 6-7+ hour of SOT.

1) flash this file. It fixes battery capacity (make it 3600 mah) and removes Note Fan Edition text on power menu.
2) Reset your battery cycle: guide here
3) Delete that useless AccuBattery app and check your battery health with Phone INFO ★SAM★
If you see %80 even after they sold you 2nd hand battery or cheap fake one. I changed mine about 2 weeks ago and shows %100 health. It was %98.80 at first after 3 cycles became %100.

yes, you have to.

@rroyy If after 1 cycle it shows 76% it's RIP? Bad battery? If so could you link me some trusted sellers? All the local shops sell same kind of battery I bought...

I added some pictures of 2 kinds of batteries I have at local shops. I bought the one that said "samsung" on it. but wasn't sure which one to choose since the other one was almost 2x as expensive

that is probably right but give it couple of days to settle. When I had my new battery health was about %97-98 after couple of cycles (I'm on 17 now I guess) It became %100. But I'm quite sure that they sold you used battery that's why you should buy new one and request refund from them.

Oke, thanks for helping. One thing that I'm pretty certain is that it must be new since the manufacturing date on the battery was 2018-11 or 2018-12. Something like that so even if it were used, I don't think it would degrade all the way down to 76% ? Cuz my old one was manufactured in 2016-11-xx and it was 81% still .

I hope not. The seller is trusted in my country and battery had not been opened yet or had any glue or any scratches on it. I hope it will settle after some time and if no, I may was well need to buy a new one. Also from iFixit battery would cost me as much as 50$ with delivery fees included So not sure if it's actually worth to pay that much.

It dropped to 95% after 1day. Is it ok? I'm getting concerned because health is dropping again. Not sure what's causing it. @rroyy

if you got big battery drain you need to first work out if its software related or hardware related.
no point pulling out for a new battery if your software setup is messed up and keeps draining battery all the time.

It depends how you used it if you used your phone all the time then its probably time to buy a new battery. Just scroll the forum people bought all kinds and you can find out which one to buy. But trust me on one thing dont look for cheap ones if its cheap there is a good chance that its fake so be careful! Good luck with your search

i have this one for myself. what i can tell, dont expect double the battery lasting because of 2430mAh instead of 1500mAh. it last a little more, than the normal battery, but not such amazing as i thought firstly. as other people has just said, it depends on how you use your phone. this battery maximum lasted for me 3d on minimal use and slim bean rom.

now the my battery is horrible like 2-3 hours with 3G on and whatsapp and medium brightness and the battery is dead, i have to turn off the 3G all the time.... i'm with tsunami rom and i've got a friend with this rom that have better battery life and i found out that my battery is a little bit swollen, maybe it's because of that... you think that the battery will last more that one day with 3G in this rom with this battery?
First of all as soon as you get 3 batteries that are over 2000mAh for that amount of money they are fake a original samsung replacment battery thats about 1500mAh will cost you more than that. If you browse a bit on the forum you will find the exact model of the battery that others bought that are tested and confirmed working. This battery will probably last you about a couple of hours cause they are no chance 2430mAh.
If your battery is swollen then you need a new battery straight away.

OnePlus One replacement battery?

Hi - Our OPO phones are starting to show their age.
I started researching BLP571 replacement batteries, and many of the sources I found have pretty lousy reviews for battery quality.
Has anyone purchased a BLP571 from a supplier that you are happy (or not happy) with?
Thanks!

I have just been having a problem with my OnePlus and the battery stats - the phone was not lasting long, the % readout was not moving for some time then falling and switching off before it reached anywhere near 0%.* I suspected the battery might be failing and had installed Accubattery (updated to Pro with some Google Play gift credit they offered me) and it suggested the battery was now only @2000mAh so have been looking for a replacement.
(* I'm using the excellent Sultanxda Unofficial CyanogenMod 13.0 with 3.4.0 kernel whose battery stats have been very good and whose ROM is super-stable.)
I have been told that a lot of the 'Chinese' OnePlus replacements are not all that good and do not meet the original specifications and sometimes actually even ship used batteries and I didn't want that sort of headache.
I found a seller of aftermarket batteries in Germany (I'm in the UK) and bought a 'VHBW' branded BLP571 from them through ebay. Shipping was fast and I installed it in the phone this afternoon (17th December)

I could not turn the phone on as the battery came discharged and it took @2½ hours to charge to 100% (I did this with the phone switched off). I powered up and deleted the battery stats from Accubattery and will monitor it carefully. I'm pleased to see that it has ticked down from 100% to 97% after 10 minuets use as it was not doing that for the past month or so (I expect the battery stats to take some time to settle down - at least a few charge cycles)
So, the battery looks good. Certainly is not some second-hand junk, time will tell if it has the capacity of the original and I don't expect to know for a week or so. I will return to this thread from time to time to report back. Hopefully it will be good news - but to answer your original question I am very happy with the supplier!

What makes this interesting is that it's most likely a brand new battery since it's not from the OEM. Give it a week and report back. You can also use GSam Battery monitor to record the stats. If this is good enough, you can probably post it over at \ACCESSORIES\ for some more publicity.
I had my battery for 1 year and im down to 3 hours sot i might buy that battery that you got from ebay
Same here I am also wondering should I change the battery or upgrade to OP3T
First charge done and I'm happy so far. Battery lasted much longer before needing a charge and the % remaining seemed more accurate than the old one at least!
I'll see over the next few days the real battery capacity - but it's not too bad!

That is the same seller. The delivery was quick and the product seems perfectly good.
I don't know if it is as good as the original battery but I didn't measure the capacity of that when I got the phone new.
I've had a good charge all day and put it on to charge again now - but I was using the phone a lot to see what happened. In normal (moderate) use I would guess I would be back to 18 - 24 hours between charges.

Can you give me your average sot for your new one and your old one please?
Accubattery said the old battery was @1900mAh and the new one is @2800mAh.
But more than that the phone was not working at all well with the old original - the % charge was not displaying properly, would stick at 100% for ages before falling and then switch off suddenly and well before it reached 0%. Then when plugged in to recharge started at 60%, 30% or wherever it was when it powered off and then was 100% is a short time.
The new battery % 'reads' correctly enough. I've not been able to let it go completely flat as I charge when I need some time away from a convenient plug.
The new battery is much better - and there is little alternative anyway. If anyone knows where to get an original 3100mAh cell then I would like to know!

Hello,
I'd like to show you my private comments and tests on the battery for this great phone.

A lot of people have trouble buying a new battery with sufficient capacity.

Fake Battery available on internet looks like this:
Many retailers report that the batteries come from the manufacturer. Unfortunately, it's not true I checked 3-4 batteries like this in picture. All batteries had almost 50% real capacity.
My almost 3-years original he328 battery have best capacity like below:
I've decided to test the battery from aliexpress Wonkegonke
This first charge cycle I am positively surprised at the performance of this battery.
I hope the information will help you fix many phones.
This post will be edited next time. Almost 20hrs usage.
Almost 24hr from last charge. Phone used normally without any issues
I end day like with my Nokia 8 with original HE328 battery.
Ok i want to show you battery health "WonkeGonke" from aliexpress after 4 sessions.
additionally, I checked battery capacity via ADB in PC:
Real capacity is 2829 Mah 91% from 3090 Mah. This is good capacity i think
Thank You
Thx man :good:... nice to know that when my battery dies I wouldn't have to throw away my beloved Nokia 8
quick question... what app r u using to measure the capacity?
This app is named AccuBattery is installed from Google Play. Nokia 8 is one of phones which can measure battery capacity almost accurately
Uh, "Genuine" looking fake batteries are in action as always ?. I learned what means genuine battery a couple of years ago. Most of them haven't the nominal capacity as it supposed. Beside this fact, they haven't a proper NTC resistor (which is temperature sensor). I want to ask a question even i know the answer (maybe it makes me surprised). Could you check battery temperature with different scenarios (daily and heavy) via AIDA64 and post the screenshots here?
I can check that, although as I remember, one of these batteries displayed the temperature probably correctly.

Design capacity seems to be 3500 so at 2800 seems to be at 80%? The question if it will stay there. I cannot find the link in Aliexpress by the way
For better marketing, the manufacturer gives overstated parameters.

can confirm is the battery temp sensor always stays at a fixed temp or it is actually working?
i bought 3 times the battery my Nokia 8. All of them only have around 1400~1500mAh and the temp sensor always showing 27deg.
Further testing found out all the fake batteries can't do Quick Charge at 7v,9v, or 12v. It only can do 5v 3A charging.

I experienced this problem on my old Zenfone 2. All batteries i bought were fake. They all had same capacity (2400mah) and fixed temperature. It was really hard to decide which is fake/genuine.
After several years, my NB1's battery is getting older and probably I'm gonna replace the battery in a year. So it would happen again and it's good to know which one is fake. Can you post the links you bought from or images of the battery? It would be really appreciated and helpful for us?.

I bought from Shopee Malaysia. I see most of the seller posted the item image is different than actual product received. From the picture you can see the bottom of the fake one is different. And the fake capacity battery is half the thickness of the original battery. Anyway, I ordered the WONKEGONKE brand from their shop in AliExpress. Will try out and update here.

My fake batteries always quick charged. When I'm at home I will check how wonkegonke behaves.
Wonkegonke is one battery what working better than any other fake. Please provide accubattery stats.

Much thanks brother for all you work and information. So here's is my story, same problem, some said software issue, Google Services and its fellows, OTA, even holy motherboard.
But after wondering and desperately hunting internet, I finally found the culprit and replaced battery from a local store, it was exactly like you posted and that old one on the device, again after around 7 months, now I'm having same issues, so was planning to go visit official nokia care and get replaced despite the cost, but just moment ago, saw a comment posted by an indian user having same issue even after replacement from a Nokia Care Center.
So i want to consider this time, is that one from aliexpress that good ? and working fine till date ?

Realme 9 pro+: Battery capacity lower than advertised? I'm not sure what to make of this.

I bought this phone less than a month ago. I bought it new from a reputable store. The battery is advertised as 4500 mAh typical / 4400 mAh min. I quickly noticed that Accubattery is showing a significantly smaller capacity, around 4000 mAh.

(it was showing 4200 at first, then after a full discharge followed by a full charge it dropped to below 4000).
Normally I would chalk this up to inaccurate measurement, however:
The kernel is reporting design capacity of the battery as 3996 mAh. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this output, but it seems to indicate that the phone actually contains a 4000mAh battery, instead of 4500.
Surely a large global brand is not falsely advertising the battery in their phones, right? What is going on here?
You need more sessions on that accubattery app to get accurate details.

20 to 30 sessions at least what i have seen on other devices.
I think battery itself is right and ok because designed capacity shows 4500 mAh

Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about. charge_full_design is hardcoded at the factory and it indicates the design capacity of the battery.

If you're talking about the value from the Accubattery screenshot, I entered that manually in the app.

If you are so sure about this, then change the battery. For sure that reputable store sold you a phone with a bad battery. Change the battery, it is still covered by warranty.

I'm not sure about it, which is why I'm posting here. I want to understand what are some other possible explanations for this.
The only thing I'm sure of so far is that Dayuser is making **** up.
Same on my 9 pro+ and actually my gut feeling here is that it's indeed not as long-lasting compared to another phone with similar specs and battery capacity. Great phone, but a bit worrying.
Can someone explain the CHARGE_FULL_DESIGN or send a link to a description. My searches didn't give a very clear picture as users of other phones reported sometimes a match, sometimes a mismatch to the advertised capacities. Might it be that these are old, left-over settings from older Android versions, which don't mean anything anymore?

@Bernie_W thanks for replying.
I actually found a display unit in a store, and it showed a correct value (4436 mAh): https://photos.app.goo.gl/jQZjcWyc1rKGoAcx6
As for CHARGE_FULL_DESIGN, it's supposed to show the capacity of a brand new battery, however some batteries don't implement this correctly and just show the same value as CHARGE_FULL (which is the current capacity at full charge). I believe this is the case on this phone, as I noticed this value changing slightly after a full charge.
It's an interface from the Linux kernel,, not strictly Android. The documentation is here: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/v5.10/power/power_supply_class.html
Anyway, I sent the phone back for warranty, still waiting for response.

Very interesting video, thanks for that. But even, if the phone would show CHARGE_FULL it should be way over 4000 mAh, so there is something wrong in my opinion. And you gave the prove with your video, that it should be higher.
I started to check, as I had the feeling the battery is not lasting enough. And I had a couple of phones over the past with similar battery capacities. So, I landed here and found your valuable report.
Would be great, if you get back your phone to let us know, if this has changed. I would then consider sending mine back, too.

Wow, that's interesting news. I actually confronted the service center here in Europe as well. The didn't try to reject or talk me down, feels a bit like they know. Answer was simply, "if you want to return the phone, please contact nearest service center".
May I ask what they confirmed in your case, would possibly help if I connect to a local service center?
They simply said that the authorized service center confirmed the problem, and that they replaced the battery. No extra details.
I just got back the phone, now it says:
POWER_SUPPLY_CHARGE_FULL=4423000
I'll keep an eye on it and let you know if anything interesting happens.

Thanks for your feedback, that's really very kind.
I think I also contact local service center as I still believe the endurance of the battery is not where it should be. Other user reported 20 hours standby and about 9 hours of SoT. They tested with enforced 90Hz and power mode on. Not what I get on my mobile.

Ok, so this is not looking good so far.
After just a couple days, CHARGE_FULL reported by the battery dropped to 4041 mAh.
AccuBattery also shows similar values:
Also, the headphone DAC is busted (or just ****ty). I've had enough of this phone, I'm just gonna return it.

Oh no, sorry to hear that.
Possibly the upcoming update to A13 could bring some improvement, but if the headphone DAC isn't working properly, that would also be a total no-go for me.
I read a post in a German forum, that a user had audio problems when he restored from a backup. After a reset and installing all from scratch, it seemed to work fine.
I think I will wait for A13 update and decide then.
Anyway thanks for all the great information, I wish you better luck with the new device

Replacement battery

Figured I'd try replacing the battery, it's been about 3 years and I'm at like 80% health or so.
Does anyone know if any of these are worth trying?

From the ones I've seen the Nohon one has the most and best reviews but I've also read on reddit and other places some comments that they're not that good. Is there any difference or all the same just different brand?
I'm using Nohon ATM. It's fine but not perfect. After 2-3 weeks battery condition dropped to ~90% and its holding this from few months. Other and for sure not genuine. I have replaced my battery because it has under 70% health.

I guess I will try the Nohon as well. The rest are cheap enough as well where I can try them if the Nohon one doesn't work.
My battery is around 80% and it discharges super fast even when not in use, so that's why I'm thinking of replacing it. Thanks
There is one more thing worth mentioning. With Nohon battery charging over 20W is not working.
Oh well, that's not that bad, only 10 less than the warp charger

I ordered the first link back in November (2022 100% Original New Replacement Battery 4000mAh BLP699 For OnePlus 7Pro) and it appears to be OEM. Different manufacturer from my original battery, but so far it seems to be providing the full 4000mAh and dash charging is working fine. Battery manufacture date was October 2022, which is brand spanking new. It also comes with some of the tools required.

I bought a BLP745 for my 7T Pro from the same AliExpress store as you, my battery was also dated October 2022. I did the swap yesterday and last night was the first charge to 100%. So far two hours have passed since I unplugged and I'm at 97%. With my original battery, I would have been at around 85% by now. I'm using accubattery to see what the capacity of the new battery is, I'll report back in a week or so. I have yet to try warp charge also, never really used it previously to be honest. I usually just let my phone slow charge over night for the past three years.

Not sure. I'm not on OOS
Appreciate the information shared here. I'm pretty sure that I need to do this for my 7 Pro soon.
The Ali Express site is showing estimated delivery of July 15 (I'm in the NYC area). Has anyone found a reliable source for these batteries with faster delivery to the US?

A couple weeks with that one and it works like a champ. Hopefully it will stay that way
