Which Alternative Chrome Operating Systems come with Google Play Store? - General Questions and Answers

Just curious about this since Remix OS has been discontinued and I know of no other alternative Chrome OS where Google Play Store is pre-packaged. Can anyone help?

Why does it have to be ChromeOS and does it have to have Google PlayStore prepackaged? You can flash any ROM that is available for your device and then flash a compatible Gapps package.
I fail to see the significant difference between a ROM that is prepackaged with Google PlayStore and a ROM that has to have a Gapps package flashed along with it.

I thought I was asking a normal question that any user would properly answer, but apparently not. Instead of just answering the question, you respond my asking more questions and you ask them in a way that suggests I've done something terribly wrong. Bro, you're making this more complicated than what it really is. Just answer the question. If you are not able to, then why respond at all?

I was just curious, that's all. More of a want to know your reasoning than anything else. It stands to reason that you have a specific reason or purpose behind wanting what you want. I don't know or understand your purpose so I asked what the signifigance of what you were looking for was.
After all, understanding your purpose would better facilitate a potential answer. Your purpose might influence what are or are not viable options to achieve what you are looking for.

Have you looked in the forum for your phone? I mean the steps are pretty much the same no matter the OS, you just get the android sdk http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and do whatever the directions tell you in the tutorials. Typically those are stickied in the developer's section of your phone's forum.
Here's the guide to rooting your phone and such as well as how to install cyanogenmod on it. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Incredible_S:_Full_Update_Guide
I suspect since you don't have any idea how to root it already, you also don't know what else you want to do with it. You should really do some reading on it.

thank you very much but this part wasn't really needed "I suspect since you don't have any idea how to root it already, you also don't know what else you want to do with it.", so next time I would suggest you to be more careful and less aggressive

It wasnt meant to be aggressive. It was an observation from you posting the question in the general forums and not noticing the stickied topics for the forum specific to your phone (since if you had, you wouldnt need to ask, right?). My guess was you were new to xda since you just registered as well as to rooting and such and you should read more about it before jumping in. Take that as you will, but there's no need to be defensive when I think my observations were valid and I was being helpful to your current situation.
Try to avoid reading every post with the assumption it's negative if I can give you anymore advice about joining xda (though some obviously are). I could put smilies all over my replies, but that gets kind of tiring and annoying to me and others, lol.
No need to get defensive if you think I'm insulting your geek cred by inferring you're a noob. Everyone is a noob sometime and xda welcomes noobs.

That question is pointless because the best apps for YOU depends on YOUR purposes, best for someone else may not be best for you.
Also, it depends on if you're rooted or not. In addition, it can also depend on your hardware or android version.
Basically, just do some google searching to see what catches your interest because even if you get suggestions it will only bring you to ask more questions about what to do with those apps or how to set them up properly.
Searching for yourself and then searching what to do with them and how to set them is going to be the best thing for you to do, that way you understand what you find instead of asking a million questions here.

Regarding DPI

Sorry, for not posting it in Help Thread. I was afraid this question might go unnoticed and lost in lots of replies.
I am using a Galaxy Note 3 N900.
My Query is,
In a ROM which is scaled to 420dpi, if I install xPosed Module 'App Settings' for per app dpi, and change dpi of few apps to 320, will it produce any form of lag in switching between apps with 420dpi and apps with 320dpi?
For Example, switching between Samsung Internet Browser (420dpi) and Whatsapp (320dpi). Right now there are no major hiccups. But, can this thing prove to be a stupidity in long run?
Main thing to keep in mind is Exynos5420 does not supports heterogenous multi processing. This may or may not affect the whole process.
Thanks, Regards and Love.

Test it out and see for yourself, asking won't help you because how your device performs depends on everything you have installed, not everyone installs the same things. How it works for someone else might not be how it works for you even if both devices are the same and using the same ROM.
No one can predict how something will perform or not, all you can do is test.

Well in that case, nobody will be able to help anyone, because everybody has different usage.
By the way, xPosed Module 'App Settings' was designed, so that people can use different apps at different dpi. I do not think I have done something unique.
Thanks for your valueable opinion.

It's not unique but the results may or may not be different than results others got, that's the point I was making. When it comes to using mods and their performance or how well things run, you can't predict what the results will be or whether there will be performance issues or not, regardless of whether someone else with the same device and same ROM used it with no issue or not, there is only try it and see because your results may be different than someone else's. And THEN if you have issues THEN someone can help you figure out why and how to fix it.
You weren't looking for "help". You were asking what the effects would be before you used it(like a noob would do) because you're afraid of messing up your device so you wanted someone to make you feel safe with the idea intend of just trying it.
"Helping" you would be assisting you get it installed and set up or helping you fix an issue after you install it, that's the kinds of things that require "help".

First of all, my dear friend, in my first post, I have not used the word 'Help' apart from mentioning the name of a thread. I hope you know there is a thread called 'Help Thread'. Writing 'Help Thread' in a statement doesn't mean I am asking for help. I simply asked a question in Q & A forum. This was indeed a question and I was only expecting a "Yes, it will affect" or "No, it will not".

As far as trying is concerned, the first post, again, has a statement:
"Right now there are no major hiccups"
This is a very generous form of english, and this indicates, "I have installed it, and I have, therefore, come to a conclusion". My question was about long term usage and I was expecting a reply from a sensible user who might have used this xPosed Mod ever.
I am surprised I am getting such a response from a recognised contributor. Your reply is so pointless (like a noob would do). Now in case you still want to reply, none of your response will be entertained. All you can now do is ask one of your moderator friends to either remove this thread or remove this account. Have a nice time.
Thanks for being so humble and kind.
When I mentioned help, I was referring to your statement about "no one would be able to help anyone then".

Hahaha. That was a generic statement my friend. XDA is a community for every kind of person, so you may and you will encounter lots of people with same or different questions or problems with, again, same or different answers or solutions. You are a recognised contributor and I am just a OP. I don't even know what it means. I should have shown some respect. I am sorry.

Learn to search before coming here to ask such a simple question that can be answered with a simple Google search for:
"Apps to uninstall apps"
There are MANY apps to do this, take your pick.
Next time SEARCH for YOURSELF

No, it's in the forum rules to search before posting.
You obviously didn't read the rules and you obviously didn't try searching first, otherwise you would have easily found the answer yourself.
I guess there is always those few out there that have to be lazy dumb asses, you must be one of them.
If you used the search terms I gave you then you would find MANY apps to do what you asked. And more than a few of them are sure to work for you.
And you can't just remove all or most of the pre-installed apps. You've got to choose carefully which ones to get rid of or you'll render your device inoperable. If you do some research on that you would learn that too.
You must be one of those that doesn't know how to search and just assumes you can do things without making sure it's safe first and then deals with their mistakes after the fact instead of being smart and learning about it first to keep those mistakes from happening.

Opinions on CalyxOS - I can't find much about it

Noob here, so, hope I am posting in the correct forum.
I just picked up a Pixel 3a and was planning on installing GrapheneOS. In doing some research about GrapheneOS, I stumbled across CalyxOS (forum rules prohibit me from posting a link). Has anyone had had any experience installing CalyxOS and using it for an extended period of time? If so, what are your thoughts? Is it stable? Can it be used as a daily driver? What are its pluses and drawbacks?
I can't find much information about it at all. As far as I can tell there is nothing about it here on XDA and there are no demo vids on YouTube. All thoughts appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not following you. If you mean somewhere here on XDA forums - as far as I can tell there is no "location" for CalyxOS. Not from the search function anyway.
If you mean where I read about it - that was in some random comment by the developer of GrapheneOS.
I just thought someone here on the XDA forums may have had some experience with it and would chime in. Apparently not.

Trace it back to it's source, like maybe try Githib, I'm sure the developer has his repository posted there, Github also has a forum that you can post in.
There is this also.
https://calyxos.org/
Check the additional links at the bottom of the page also. There is more information in those links.
Then there is this at Gitlab, I guess they do their work there instead of Github.
https://gitlab.com/calyxos
I'm sure you can find answers in one of those places.

So why are discussions of some ROMs such as Calyx and Graphene prohibited on XDA? XDA has always been the best in all aspects of Android support.

My point was, it is best to go to the source of the ROM for answers and issues related to that ROM. The reason why I say that is because that will be the best source of information related to that ROM because no one knows that ROM better than the people that made it. Also, if your issues or questions are something that the developer of the ROM may need to make changes to their ROM to solve the issue or question that you have, contacting the developer would bring it to their attention.
My reply had nothing to do with discussion of that ROM or any other ROM not being allowed to be discussed here at XDA.

I understand completely that your previous reply had nothing to do with discussion of that ROM or any other ROM not being allowed to be discussed here at XDA. However, I thought you might know why.
Anyway, have you seen the support for those other ROMs such as Graphene. It is a chat server. While some try to help, others are arrogant techies that try to make you feel stupid. In addition, there is no easy archive to review and catch up with such as XDA. I find a forum far more user friendly than a live chat service.

You still didn't understand. My point is there is no such thing as any kind of prohibition on discussing ROMs at XDA, regardless of where the ROM came from.
