Using Sky Go app on TF300T - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I am currently struggling with the quality of Sky Go app on my aging Windows laptop - the app really is very CPU intensive and makes the video really jerky.
I has suddenly occurred to me that it might worth having a go with my TF300T instead. I often forget what a great little device it is and it only really gets used when I go on Holiday.
I have it running the latest version of Katkiss.
I would be really grateful to know whether:
1. There will be any issues with running the Sky Go app - I know that it refuses to run if it senses that a tablet has been rooted and
2. Whether I output the video via my mini-HDMI, so I can plug it into my TV

First of all if the tablet is on KatKiss-7.1_TF300T_037, you may run Sky Go on it without any issues. There will also be no problem to use the mini HDMI to connect the device with any HDMI able TV.

[Q] Bluetooth and audio sync

Hello All,
First time, long time.
I bought a TF101 2 months ago...love the damn thing. Unfortunately after ICS my bluetooth (LG HBS-700) headset is now out of sync with videos. I have tried:
-mx player
-stock player
-cold boot
-fresh install
-different video formats
-equalizer/non equalizer
Unfortunately nothing works. Is there a way to fix this manually or is this a driver/ics issue? I travel alot for work and the TF has saved my sanity multiple times.
My TF is stock, no custom roms or anything of the sort. ICS is a great update other than this, so i cant really complain just yet Just a minor nuisance but its pretty high up on my day to day activities. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
bluetooth out of sync
same problem. Tot my headset was broken so I tried another bt headset and still the same problem. Hopefully, we can have another update for ICS.

I have the same exact headset, not sure if it's the headset or the tablet because i bought the LG headset after i got ics. But my problem is that the media connection disconnects randomly and refuses to reconnect. I have to reboot the tablet and repair the bluetooth headset. Can anyone else confirm that bluetooth (more specifically stereo bluetooth) has major issues in ICS?
Same problem here, I have tried three bt headsets, multiple video players and various file types and there is big audio lag in everything.
I am running Ricardo's CM9. Is there anyone who can look into this or is it something that Asus is going to have to fix?
Just wanted to say that I'm having the same audio delay problem on my Galaxy Nexus running Bugless Beast 4.0.4 and I'm using that LG headset too. It must just be a problem with ICS. Hopefully we'll get an update to fix it soon!
Same here with the roms
Same problems here, Using asus slider 101 with revolver rc2, and android revolution 3.2.1, everything's so fast and really good, but the audio lag kills it, if I use grooveip on it, they'll often overlap, in servere cases I have to reboot the device, so for now I'll just use grooveip and any video player with direct connection to the device, and use the bluetooth for music and such...
I just hope the great rom chefs can come up with a solution, heck It might be the ICS itself, being that it is in it's "baby" state...
It seems to this day, a lot of people are working for a fix on this, some say it's an asus thing, others say it's ICS, it seems that the issue is stemming from a incorrect value, here's a quote from one site:
"The root cause of the issue seems to be incorrect reporting of the A2DP HAL
(android_audio_hw.c) latency to AudioFlinger. The following 'in progress'
patch seems to make things better."
There used to be a patch floating around to try to fix the issue but, weather it'll solve it is beyond me because the patch disappeared along weather it worked or not.
Other sites are trying to resolve the issue themselves simply because asus is tight-lipped about it, or they're trying to solve it in due time...
For those that have the problems, are you rooted and have you tried another rom? I use the same headset as well as a moto S305 and theres no sync issues at all in bsplayer, diceplayer, stock player, netflix, and basically all the music apps that i use, ranging from 128kbps mp3s to flac files. Currently running Revolver 4 RC2 with Guevor's 17c kernel, on a B40 chassis. I didn't bother with the ota itself so i can't say if my machine has the same issues on stock, though Revolver is based on the OTA rom so i'm curious if there was some kind of tweak between the OTA and Revolver that made that problem go away.

Are you only out of sync of no audio at all?
My problem is the bluetooth is connected, but No audio att all.

I'm using Revolver 4 RC2, as I said before. It's definitely fully rooted, using guevor's kernel test 18e, I have 2 bluetooth devices with the same issue, a sony mw600 bluetooth stereo headset, and a htc brand ad2p stereo headset.
both have the same issue, worked fine in honeycomb, both stock and mod (revolver honeycomb, TF 3.11).
It might be a bluetooth model issue as you don't have the lag, as for the tweak, that part I don't know... I'll try to use guevor's kernel 17c though... I'll let you know how it turns out...
@3kgt
my issue is that the audio lag, the connection is fine though.
Well i gave mine to the store and used final days of warranty!
Mine did connect without problems, but no sound at all.
Tested with
Monster Iclearity HD
Jawbone Icon
Jawbone Era
And yet a nother uknown BT Speakers..
i'm using team EOS ICS stable version, and a Logitech Bluetooth speakers.
i can connect and hear the audio, there maybe a 1/2ms sec delay. i never noticed till you asked so maybe i'm just seeing things?
i tested playing youtube and watching movies on mx player.
Tried it, same issue...
Well, I reinstalled revolver ics 4.0.2, wiped cache, and dalvik cache, the op runs smoother than before with guevor's kernel 17c and no SODs (so far...), but the 2/3 ms delay is still there, let me clarify a bit on it.
Any app that makes sounds (mx player, poweramp, mixzing, stock player, angry birds, etc.) will have that delay on the asus slider sl101 running ICS, worse if I use voip apps like grooveip, it's only tolerable without bluetooth...
I can use bluetooth on Poweramp and mixzing since I'm only listening to music.
Well that the issue I have...
Can't do much on my end but wait...
Same
Same issue here since upgrading my Sony Tablet to ICS.
I've had exactly the same problem with my TF101 on any form of ICS that I've tried. An unacceptable audio delay to my Sennheiser MM-100 bluetooth headphones. No problem for music, but I can't watch video like this. The only cure I have found is to run a good HC ROM - at the moment it's Revolver 3.11.1, the more I use it the more I like it. Is ICS really worth it? Maybe for some uses; but mine is primarily for watching video when I go camping, a bit of internet and some games. And Revolver is perfect for that. It even recognises my 64GB SDXC card; which my Win7 64bit 6 core has problems doing.
I have found the most simple way to resolve this
I Will simply Sell my damn Tf101 !
Cause i cant watch most videos (Thanks to tegra 2 and codecs problems)
And now this damn BT problem ..
Same here...

yeah I practically did the same thing, only difference, I gave it to one of my family members, after I experience lots of system flaws other than the problem I have such as increased slowness (sometimes unresponsive), and large battery drain, on all roms... though the last (and pretty stable) rom I tried was android revolution, it's quicker, but some programs would crash and eventually become so annoying that I had to uninstall them. but that might be a slider issue and not the transformer issue as most devs are more focused on the transformer... I pretty much tried many things to it to at least be more in sync with my bluetooth but upon doing that I must've screwed the pad in the process and now it just no good no matter what rom I tried, be it the official asus firmware, or a custom firmware... As I said, android revolution was the last rom I tried and everything seemed real smooth and accurate but I couldn't cope with the issues the slider has. so in short, ditched the slider, and I'm going for either Samsung galaxy pad 2, or Motorola xoom... both 32gb internal memory... Well it's sad really but what can you do when a company fails on you hard...
UPDATE:
I just went to an electronics giant to try out the asus infinity by playing some games on it and syncing to my headset only to have the same issue with the lag... looks like this is strictly a maker's issue, no way anybody here can fix that, though I haven't seen if it was happening on JB, but I'm not taking that chance... got the note 2 and I'm good with that for now.. also I've noticed that some movies play with little or without the lag, this problem varies though on what type of movie you're playing, as I couldn't tell what causes that. I play mkv, avi, mpg and mov files via MXplayer I got both results, lag and non lag, same goes for native mp4 files. so this is with my knowledge and understanding way too difficult to pinpoint weather it's a codec problem or hardware problem or both.
Hope this shed a bit of know-how as I just gave up on it the time I gave it away...
otherwise have fun on an otherwise great innovation...

Hi I own a note 2 and meet same issue. Sound delay 1 second while using bluetooth headphone(Creative WP-250). Watch movie with mix player get 0 lag, but watching online movie or playing video game always delay 1 second. I think it belongs to android design problem because I connect my Bluetooth headphone with my iPad no matter what I do I can't find any lag. Would google notice this issue and fix it in the next update?

I went to one of the google offices in San Francisco (nice office by the way!), but did not find anybody there to help on the issue, plus I don't think they'll do anything yet until the problem becomes widely known. If anything they'll just say that the problem lies on the device (bluetooth or phone/pad itself) and not the os as most other companies would do. As did you, I found that problem on the note 2 a while ago, almost as soon as I got it, I figured the features on the phone outweigh the issues on bluetooth and I might as well wait and see if they are able to locate the source of the problem and try to solve it as best as they can...
I'll go back to them since I haven't seen any of the top brass there since they're either in a meeting at the time or they're located elsewhere..
I'll also try to let ASUS and Samsung know about the issue in case that the problem lies on hardware, but that may seem unlikely...

Yea, they're real nice when I came in, but couldn't do much, I'll visit again before the end of the month, going back to work, hopefully I can reach them before then, If anything I'll keep my fingers crossed in hope that they'll fix the issue without my interaction...

The slow USB transfer speeds with ICS... and JB too?

Anyone able to hint at whether or not we could finally get a proper fix for the incredibly slow USB transfer rates with ICS on the Nexus S when Jelly Bean arrives in the next few weeks (hopefully)?
I know the general advice is "Just reboot into CWM and do the transfers there..." but honestly that gets a bit frustrating. I bought Wifi File Transfer Pro during a sale for $.99 and it's functional but, even that's somewhat slow to me (average 3-6MB/s). I have no idea what Flash-RAM is inside this device, I'm guessing since the Nexus S is made by Samsung (even though it's 18+ months old now) and they'd more than likely use their own high grade Flash-RAM it should be more than capable of writing at close to that speed as well.
Under CWM's storage mode the transfers are in the 10-15MB range so that's good, but...
Has anyone ever actually discovered why the USB transfers are so horridly slow on ICS on the Nexus S, or is it a situation where most people just shrug their shoulders and say "That's how it goes..." and that's that?
Just curious... love the device, it's my new main one as I recently dumped my HD2 to pay some bills. If it's specifically related to a busted kernel (3.x) then there's nothing that can be done about it I suppose, unless someone at Google has some clue as to what's going on.
Sure would be nice to plug in and get the speed this device is capable of instead of plugging in, rebooting to recovery, going into CWM storage mode, doing a transfer, then rebooting back out into ICS again.
I know it's been asked before but there's never been an actual answer to why it's happening, let alone a potential fix for it.
If it IS an issue with the 3.x kernel(s), doesn't that imply that Jelly Bean won't do much to address it and we'll still be stuck in the slow lane?
Thanks...
EDIT:
Found this JB port from steven776 from the SDK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28113909&postcount=258
Installed it and it's running fine but but but... nothing changed as far as the USB transfer rates are concerned. I know it's not the "official" build of JB coming for the Nexus S but, even so, this doesn't bode well for a fix for this issue once and for all.
Well, the slow transfer speed bothers me a lot too, but I never thought of transferring the file using CWM, so thanks for the tip :good:
I cant offer any magic solutions or explanation for why its slow but maybe you could clear up a couple of things:
1) are you using a USB 2.0 cable or is it possible that it is only a 1.0?
2) the devices you are connecting your phone too (i.e PC, laptop) are they USB 2.0 capable?
3) check to see if your operating system's power management settings and make sure that there isn't anything slowing it down there
If you feel any better these are the speeds that I get, no matter what ROM im using (steve's JB port included) and I too have been underwhelmed by it.

Well for me I'm connected to a USB 2.0 port, I have no issues regarding from power management as that should have no affect.
But writing anything to the phone its very slow like anywhere from 300kbs to 1MB/s. But copying/writing from the phone to PC is always going to be faster I'm getting on avg. 14 to 18MB/s.

That's also bother me a long time and can't find any solution yet.
Nexus S JB is still slow
Hi, I have just updated to the official Jelly Bean update and can confirm that the USB problem is still present. I think I had read somewhere that the problem is in the kernel?
Any fix for this yet? Still annoying to go into cwm to transfer big files.. Thanks.
Go to clockworkmod and use then mount USB storage, you will get about 4mb/s

I believe this has to do with the transfer protocol used and your Kernel. Which kernel are you using, are you stock, rooted, or romed, and have you played with the MTP/FTP settings?
MTP Works fine
Hi,
Using Marmite Kernel 7.1.4CM on CM10 and JellyShot 0.1 I noticed that MTP Transfer is actually a lot faster than USB Transfer.
I had the same issue with slow transfer on ics and jb. with MTP its gone.

YouTube Tablet App, and Problems with 'Where's My Water'

I recently installed gedeROM (came from Reloaded 1.3) and was wondering how to get the version of the YouTube app that looks like this. I thought it was really well designed compared to the one that's on the Play Store now (the one with three panels for the video information, related vids and comments).
Also, does anyone know why Where's My Water won't run unless I have a network connection? I've had the issue with both gede and Reloaded. It FC's if I'm not connected.
Did a quick search and found that other devices too seem to be having this problem.

hopefully, Disney fix it in the next update or some dev finds a way around that
I am also having the same problem with the Kindle Fire ICS.
Where's My Water will not run unless I am connected to some sort of a WiFi connection.
Is there an app that can fake a Wifi connection so I can play Where's My Water in the car (where Wifi is not available)?
I am also having this problem.
Here it is.

[Q] Only my right earphone gives sound. how to fix?

Dear xda members and administrators,
since one month my left or right earphone ( doesn't work anymore when I plug it in my asus eee pad tf101. Yes i did test my earphones at other devices and they worked correctly on those devices.
My question is how can I fix this!? because its really annoying when only one earphone works;P
I also saw these USB soundcards and since I have a keyboard with full USB ports I was wonderingen if a usb soundcard like:

or

would work on the asus eee pad transformer. In the reviews they say it is a plug and play device and it works on LInux and as we all know Android is based on linux.
Well I hope you peeps can give me some advice!!

Have you tried either of the following?
Compressed air in 2 short bursts into the outlet?
Using a DRY swab (not a cotton bud) gently insert into the outlet, but DO NOT TWIST.
(NOTE) :
You did not state if you are using stock ROM or custom ROM, so I will assume Stock. Back up your system using TWRP recovery, wipe all cache and then factory reinstall from start. After rebooting try to listen to some music or such and see what that does. If it works then try recovering the system back to what you had backed up and try again to see if the issue is still present.
(NOTE 2) :
To install TWRP recovery if you have not already, download goomanger from the play store and install the recovery from the settings (3 vertical dots). TWRP plays a bit better with the TF101 then CWM does.

Thanks for fast respondong. Ye I tried to clean it with a dry swap but didn't work. I am on Custom ROM CYANOGENMOD 10 by rayman. But I had this problem when I was at stock rom, revolver rom, liquid smooth, revolution HD and now cyanogenmod 10 by rayman. So this didn't make a difference. I think it might be something with the hardware since a friend of mine stood on my tablet for a few seconds with his full weight xD. But since the build quality of asus is pretty nice my tablet still works xd.
I will try to get TWRP.
Just installed TWRP recovery didn't work:S Someone other ideas or someone who have experience with a USB soundcard?

That was information that was really needed. Now it is sounding more like a broken input. Your more then likely going to need to do a tear down and see if the jack can be repaired easily. If not take it to a repair shop and they can usually fix it for under $30.00

HDMI out issue 4.2.1 Build 10.6.1.8

I received the ota jelly bean update 4.2.x build 10.6.1.8. All seems well except for one issue, which for me is a major issue.
The micro hdmi out port always displays at 420p, i've tried everything I can think off to get it to change. There is nothing in settings to change resolution or any hdmi settings.
Prior to the update it worked great connect the micro hdmi cable and I could play videos with dice player or bsplayer. I would get highest possible resolution, I am using the same display device that I've used for the past year, projector with hdmi. Projector is ok as I hooked another hdmi device and works fine.
So any ideas on how to fix hdmi issue ? If no fix how can I drop the back to the previous build ?
Would the new 10.1 cm rom use hdmi out ok, or anyone have suggestion of another rom that hdmi out works ok ?
I've tried rooting but have run into another problem I'll post as separate issue.
Asus says factory reset, did not work.
I can confirm the problem, I hope it's a bug and not a "feature" because the update makes hdmi output useless.

I can't give you a fix as I don't have 4.2 yet.
I don't know your previous built so I'll give you instructions and you use the build you wish.
I'll use 10.4.2.18 as an example. Unzip Asus firmware once and put the new zip file on your internal sdcard wait if no response power down. Repower you should get the update triangle as with an ota. Accept and wait for results. I have used this to update and downgrade as well with success.
Good Luck!
no crop /scale
hi there!
so let's try my school-english....
since the last update a few days ago to android 4.2.1 i have almost the same problems with hdmi -out!
bevore the update, for example videos from the youtube-app in 1080p came to the tv in full-screen and 1080p - AND the tab-display became black - until i tapped on it for re-activating. In the status-bar there was the hdmi-button with two options: scale or crop. in one of this two cases i only saw the video on the tv in full screen, in the other option i could see the status-bar additional on the tv. I liked to use the full-screen without status-bar.
so thats history now!
since the glourious update, nothing of this works: no more hdmi-option in the status bar, only the information. no fullscreen, but the same picture like on the display-including BOTH status-bars (on the top and -hmmm- on the "floor"), and the whole picture does not fill the tv-screen. and the display of the tab doesn't get black anymore.
that's bad. very, very bad, 'cause using the tab via hdmi in 1080p to tv is one of my main use.
can anybody help, plz?!?! i hope there is a solution without "down-date" to 4.1.x!
sry 4 my bad english
After the 4.2.1 update the tf300t has the same problem of the nexus 10:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40225
Yeah, this really sucks, can't even get the audio now! I regret that i updated to 4.2.1. Hopefully the developers will notice this and update the current version.
Well mine doesn't even work so mehh..

Only: 72 people starred this issue and may be notified of changes. And it's listed as enhancement because the Nexus 10 never had what the TF300 has lost.
Surely it's a bug and not a new feature request for TF300 users, and should be put to Asus not Google? Doers more people "starring" an issue increase its urgency?
And does it work with cm 10.1 ?

It's a known issue on 4.2.1 that afflicts more than just the TF300T. It's why I'm still on 4.1.1 and the original JB bootloader.
So three months and no fix ? Does 4.2.2 offer anything worth updating or is it mostly fluff plus this bug?
