Unlocking Bootloader - Nokia X5 (Nokia 5.1 Plus) Guides, News, Discussion

I have started a thread over at the Nokia forums asking them to allow the bootloader unlocked here
Mod edit: Link removed!
Maybe we need to have more people starting new threads asking them to let us unlock the bootloader.
It's all I think we can do. If anyone has any ideas to get them to allow it quicker, let me know.

Looks like my Thread was deleted, They delete all the threads that they don't like.
I won't be buying another Nokia they made a big mistake to keep the bootloader locked. many people that like to have custom roms won't buy Nokia again.

Sorry to hear that.
I'm still trying to find out a new method to allow everyone to unlock the bootloader for Nokia 5.1 Plus X5 freely in that situation.

It is Impossible till to date, I've tried it, but for me Locked bootloader is OK, because there are all updates available on Android One devices. I am happy with the performance of Nokia 5.1 Plus converted from X5, If company have no policy to unlock bootloader we can't blame them..

There aren't any because bootloader is locked. You know that so why ask ? We can blame Nokia if we want but I don't really care any more. I've got other devices I can have custom roms on. Yes the Android one is good but I would still like to be able to have root.

I've successfully achieved this in December 5th, 2018.

You'll find most of us are aware of Duraaraa's tool however discussing paid services is frowned upon so that's that.
What you're running is an unsigned internal build meant for testing.

Do you get one or two credits for this?
Imo, Duraaraa got way too much crap, but maybe I feel like that because he helped me with issues when he absolutely didn't have to and I'm thankful for it.
I too don't agree with his approach, but I don't see a reason to tear him down to the extent some here feel necessary. However, having said that, I wish he'd change his policy of rewarding people for spamming any and all forums while fully well knowing it's against their TOS. Pretty much just like I suspect the OP is undoubtedly doing here. I'd give you an A+ for the level of disguise, but your 1500+ posts tell me everything I need to know.

They ARE mostly unreleased builds meant for internal testing, hence the seemingly large number of them and general lack of updated change logs. Most of those will never be released to the general public.
You can look at them as stepping stones before a golden master comes along.

Are these codes still available? I already have one but I am getting one for my company where we develop a native mobile app development platform.
I'm curious if any sort of codes are still available to use, as well. My HTC U11 is starting to take a big dump on me with hardware issues and I'd rather not wait 2-5 months for them to repair it.
I was an original PH-1 user, who pre-ordered it from the beginning. Long story short, I had to return it for a refund due to quite a few issues. But I'm well aware that they've made large strides since its initial launch late last summer.
I know the PH-1 is down to $500 and includes their earbuds for free, but I'm still a bit wary due to where the company may be in the (near) future. Also that it's on last year's specs, but that isn't a huge deal to me.
I loved the size and design of it, especially as flagships from this year are typically 6" or larger in screen size. An S8 or S9 is definitely out of the question, as I enjoy working on custom development (primarily from a personal standpoint) and Samsung locks down their devices completely in the US.
I'd greatly appreciate any help, but I understand if codes are nonexistent at this point.

Do you know how/why it ended in EDL? Unless the device is really defect, try getting out by holding power + vol up for a real long time (like 40'ish secs+) unplugged, then plug it back into the USB port while still holding down the buttons. I've been "stuck" in EDl a couple of times and the above snapped the device back to normal.
Sometimes using a deep flash cable can help too in a reverse way. If you want to try, no need to buy one, you can easily make one yourself from a cheap spare USB data cable.
