Upgrading Android 9 Pie. Need Your Suggestions - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
Last week I made upgrade to Pie stock rom, beacuae I was serching a fix to a problem that I discovered later and fixed on hardware.
But since I've done that I've seen that a lot of apps can't work properly and others don't work at all, whatsapp tweaker and smart lockscreen protector are the principal witch I need to use and it's not possibile
I tested also the unofficial xposed framework, but to be sure I prefer to wait the original one...
I was thinking to come back to Oreo but I'm not able to find a stock rom, Do you know where I can find it?
Or Do you know if everything come compatibile with this rom soon? Some suggestions to make these apps working on Android 9?
Thanks a lot for everything.

Pie is low key trash, apps are crap and aren't up to date. Plus I'm a fan of some of the Sony apps not available on pie. So I'm a g8142 oreo stock. If u need an ftf. I can provide u a France ftf but I have a modem ftf ce1 that will make it run normally. I can also provide WiFi calling for T-mobile if u need vote as well

Auto-updating MM ROM?

This is not a 'best ROM' thread, simply a request for assistance.
My friend experienced abysmal battery life when her phone updated to the (stock) Lollipop ROM. I rooted it, installed Multirom and flashed a Kit Kat ROM for her, which means she could actually use her phone for more than 7hrs without it dying.
Now Marshmallow is out I want to give her a secondary ROM to test out. But I don't see her that often and I want a ROM that offers auto-updates so that so long as the dev releases delta updates then she'll get them. This is to assuage my concern regarding her going for the next year with no security updates.
1. Can anyone recommend a MM ROM that has this feature?
2. Is there any reason why Multirom would interfere with an update system like this?
Thanks.

Why would you install MM on a device that belongs to someone else?

I'm struggling to understand the question. If your friend isn't technically able, then surely the simple course is to wipe and install MM, leave it stock, and she'll get all the Android OTA updates as they arrive. Is this not exactly what you want? Why over-complicate her life with multiple ROMs?
Just asking...

Got a XT1032 with KitKat, Update?

Hi there,
I got a 2-year-old german retail Moto G XT1032 with Stock 4.4.4 Kitkat as a daily driver. I've rooted it approx. a year a ago, installed the Xposed-Framework with xprivacy and Gravitybox. But the phone seems to get quite slow with standard applications like WhatsApp or the music player. So i deleted the app-caches of the Google Expericence Launcher and some other applications. Now it's not so laggy anymore, but i think with
a new version of Android it could be a bit faster.
I'd like to flash it with a new firmware. Now i dont't know, which one to choose. I've read that, when i want to upgrade to 5.1 or 6.0, i have to update the bootloader. And with this new bootloader i can't switch back
to KitKat, is that right? Now the question is, should i update to Lollipop or Marshmallow. When Lollipop came out, i've heard that it was quite a buggy mess. There were a couple of bugs, which made it unusable as a daily driver. Can you recommend Lollipop as a daily driver over KitKat? As I see, there are only beta (nightly) versions of Marshmallow out for the XT1032. Are they stable enough for using it as a daily driver?
Thanks
Patrick

1. yes, with a new bootloader you cannot go back to Kitkat. Also keep in mind that you need a recent recovery (TWRP 2.8.7)
2. i can only compare custom roms of KK or LP and i dont see a significant advantage of LP, also KK seemed to have the better memory management
3. another suggesting to your problem: if you dont care about having something "new" you might try a custom KK rom where my recommendation would be SlimKat (overall best and most stable rom i have ever used). That may solve your problems, but if you dont like it you can always go back to stock KK or upgrade
I never used my phone much on KitKat but things u will sacrifice on lp or marshmallow is multitasking (ram management) and battery timing but performance on newer os especially on marshmallow is too good I'm using cm13 nightly 03-01-2016 its so stable that know I don't even bother to upgrade to newer nightly its thousand times better than lp I suggest try KitKat ROM still unsatisfied then u only have choice to watch a video of phone running mm then deciding upgrade BTW just use greenify this phone often gets drunk without it

[Q] Is there is any method to patch Concept MM ROM so it can work on the D6633 dual ?

Hello,
I Was wondering if there is any method where i can patch the Concept MM ROM so the cell radio can work, i flashed the rom before, and it was working perfectly except the cell radio.
so, i was wondering if there is any patch/method i can work on or start from so i can fix this issue.
I've searched the web for a solution but it seems no body tried this before, however there were some small patches that came with some CustomROMS to make the custom rom work on the Dual D66633 Model, so i think it is a possible task to patch the Concept ROM, Even if it means leaving the duality functions and work with 1 sim only.

Xperia XZ F8331 - Is it possible to enable the fingerprint reader after Nougat OTA?

Hey, this is my first post and I'm inexperienced with Android tinkering so I apologize if I've broken any rules. I searched but would like clarification as Nougat has changed things.
Is there any way to enable the fingerprint reader after the Nougat OTA for the US version of the XZ F8331?
I mistakenly didn't realize Nougat had changed things and unwittingly soft bricked my XZ the other day but managed to unbrick it and really want to avoid bricking it again.
It seems that downgrading to Marshmallow via flashtool is possible? so maybe it could be possible to downgrade to the UK Marshmallow and then get the UK Nougat OTA and then get the fingerprint reader to function that way?
Any rom you use that isn't the US rom will allow fingerprint to work.
Right, but flashtool isn't compatible with Nougat yet. I just got the idea of using Emma though, will look into it more soon
Yeah, you can just flash an MM rom and update to Nougat via OTA.
EMMA will only work with devices with unlocked bootloaders.
You are correct in your first thought. Just flash a UK FTF for MM and get the OTA Nougat update.
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately the Customized UK MM FTF seems to be no longer available from XperiFirm and I haven't had any luck trying to find it elsewhere.
How much does the Market/Operator matter? Maybe a customized MM FTF from another region is better? Anything I should be worried about?

Not really. Only a bit of bloatware, everything else is about the same.
You may be able to find an older FTF from here though
Thanks again! There is a Customized UK FTF for MM on the site you linked but it can't be downloaded for free unfortunately.

I am wondering the same - new F8331 on N OTA and enabling the fingerprint reader. Any luck on your end figuring this out?
I've been running customized NOBA in my Z5 for a while here in the US and have been very happy with it. Customized NOBA for the XZ still hasn't been updated to Nougat, so that could be an option. I don't get to unwrap my XZ until Christmas, so I've already downloaded the MM version currently on Xperifirm to re-enable my fingerprint sensor first.
I like customized NOBA because it has bloatware you can completely uninstall.
You should be able to google the central europe firmware (marshmallow) and use that. I just fixed 2 XZs yesterday after banging my head against the wall over the firmware.
Update to marshmallow using flashtool and then OTA update to nougat. Central Europe works perfectly and I get the LTE symbol (some people hated the 4G symbol even though it's the same). Finger print scanner works (both phones are US versions from Amazon).
Help me please

Replacement for Xiaomi Stock MIUI that can still OTA/less maintenance for non-techie

So I've gotten an Mi 5s Plus for my wife but she wants a more up to date version of Android than what Xiaomi is releasing (current is MIUI 8.5/Android 6.0.1) as they take forever to update.
Obviously I don't want to be tech support moving forward, and I'd like her to be on the latest version of Android. I just really want this to be a set and forget sort of thing, so assuming it would need to be a base ROM of some sort from a major releaser, hopefully there is something released with everything working.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what ROM i could use on her phone so that she doesn't have to worry about updates as she will just receive them OTA?
As with myself she also will require the phone to be NON-ROOTED for her work, along with banking apps (which I'm assuming you can always remove root/lock the phone after installing the ROM).
I don't mind if its a version of MIUI or not but I'd like it so that all the features of the phone still work which I'm assuming would be MIUI.
Thanks for any help.
I think Xiaomi.eu weekly ROMs have OTA, but I'm not sure.
If not than maybe Lineage OS.
Ressurection Remix definitely has OTA.

Have you tried the global developer ROM? It is quite stable from my testing and is updated nearly every week. It is Android 7.0.
Are these OTA updates?
Is the global developer rom certified so that Android Pay works?
Also I'm assuming the updates to this are OTA, if I miss a couple weeks can you just update to the most recent one?
Ressurection would be interesting, thanks. Does it support Android Pay?
@umirza85 Not sure. I'd try but I've rooted it.
