Personally, I dont understand why you would want to mess with Betas which is what these updates are. My Phone works awesome with Oreo and Nova Prime. I uninstalled all the Chinese crap with adb...... and I'm not even thinking of updating to Pie until all the kinks are worked out. If it ain't broke don't fix it...........

i am using pie for a week. there is no issues at all. i feel battery slightly better than oreo. but bluetooth music consumes a lot.
i do not have any problems so far.
cheers

Am on pie now. it's awesome , d only problem Is the battery. battery was superb on Oreo n that's the only thing that will make me go back to Oreo.

if there is someone who has downgraded to oreo then is it possible to return to pie with hisuite? or should the whole procedure be repeated with the request?

I would call less than great battery life on a 5000mah battery a big problem. I'm getting 3 to 4 DAYS of Battery life on Oreo. I'm staying on Oreo for now. If you guys think that Huawei has perfected their version of Pie with their updated EMIU 9. .... you're wrong. They haven't even rolled out the Pie update to my part of world yet. And I live in Los Angeles. Every early release of any OS is always buggy in some way.

Hi friend,
I have just got this phone from 2nd but battery on emui 9.1 is not as good as I imaged. SOT only 5h30 from 100% to 5%> My current firmware is 9.1.0.338.
Should I rollback to emui 8.0 for better battery?
Thanks

Anybody still on KitKat?

Hi there everybody,
I just want to know if there's anybody still running KitKat and if yes, what the reason is for doing so.
I'm on Marshmallow preview 3 right now. I got the Nexus 5 a while after Lollipop was released and I never used KitKat on the N5. I would like to know if the performance/stability/battery life is any better on KitKat compared to Lollipop and Marshmallow.
Thanks in advance.
I am still on kitkat, because I don't want a beta as daily driver, and lollipop make my phone complete freeze a few time, so I go back to KK and play safe.
p.s. the freeze are not due to the memory leak of lollipop, it just freeze when I have too much app multitasking. or sometime coping lot of file using root explorer via samba

In my opinion even though i don't use kk anymore it was a much more fluid and snappier experience then L... Also the battery lasted more or less the same..

Why buy a nexus if you don't like upgrades?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I was on KK until about a week ago. I am a user of Slimroms though. Slimkat had all the features I needed, and I have an infant child, so didn't really want to mess around with things too much. He has gotten bigger now, and the Slim team is awesome and have brought many of the functions back on SlimLP. ElementalX is good on it, xposed is working mostly, so I tested it out for a while and made the switch. I tested via multirom, installed SlimLP as secondary, swapped it to primary, installed all my tweaks, tested it for a while, restored all my data from KK rom from the nandroid I took at the beginning of testing, data came back without any major issues, so I decided to stay with it after a few days.
One other reason I stayed on KK so long is that development on LP took some time to come through. Not just the wonderful devs here, but also commercial apps. I believe LP was a update for updates sake, maybe a bridge to M. Hopefully, M will bring out some nice things.

Update and upgrade are not interchangeable. Many people felt with the roll out of LP it was an update, but not really an upgrade. Even after changing I still think this, thank god for the amazing work of the independent dev community. SlimLP for me, whatever you enjoy for yourself, but stock LP is not an upgrade. Like I said though, hopefully it is a bridge to M where better things might come.
I am not against progress, moving ahead to better things, but I think it is a bit subjective. Who thinks what is better, and so on. LP showed some abilities, but ran into some issues. Once everything adjusts to LP, hopefull, the transition to M will be smooth and great.

Nope, you can only use another launcher. Or another theme.
I'm pretty sure the notification shade is built into the OS, so you can't really do much about it aside from waiting for EMUI 5.0's which looks nicer.

Also changing background wallpaper makes an impact on the readability of the notifications.

I'm too expecting it. As I'm unable to read some of the notifications. Ex:Gmail... Its coming as black in color with little transparent black background. So can't read it.
However I can't Expect EMUI 5 also.
As i've modified the launcher and misc apps throughout the phone... i hope more devlopers hop on this device and create a pixel type OS port or even something without the EMUI :/

S8 Statusbar pulldown laggy

I had the S7 and now the S8 and pulling the Statusbar down is way less smooth than on a S5 with cm14.1 or any other phone with stock Android or similiar.
Feels janky on S8. I compared it with cm14.1 on my S5 side by side.
Embarrasing .
I love my S7 and I'm using Galaxy S devices since the S2.

You have to compare it with a device with lineage os 14.1 or stock-(ish) Android.
T-Mobile variant and it's just as smooth as my rooted Nexus 6, LG V10 and the wifes stock Nexus 6.

Which one do you have? the sd835 is just awful when it comes to performance, also for sure stock Android will be slightly quicker than bloated ui like TouchWiz. But coming from an iPhone 7 plus, it seems pretty quick.

I have the S8+ Exynos Variant( since April ) no root ,stock
Overall my status bar is smooth.
A while back i noticed the same behaviour with my status Bar.
As you described it "janky" and sometimes it might just be unresponsive ..etc .
In the back of my mind i suspected ,that it could to be "some app" causing this .
As status bar was out of box ,smooth .
Now it became laggy /janky etc .
i eventually found the culprit .
It was a Samsung Theme (paid ) from Theme store .
(So theme is supposed to be well optimized ?)
i suspected the theme status bar as at times when scrolling in status bar,
theme just did not "look/behave ? " right to me
(eg . the way the icons "lit " up and fade ,when toggled etc )
Change my Samsung theme to something else .
Immediately i noticed a difference .
Status bar was no longer sticking /janky etc .
I am positive maybe a "bad code" in theme could have affected my status bar
Bottomline ,
So who knows, it might just be some other 3rd party app /mod causing this ?
Good luck

Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
It's not "lag" in that sense. It's just that it isn't 60 FPS like Galaxy S7 has. It's more like 30 or something. I have the Exynos S8+ and I notice it very well.
tell me about it, my S8 is so slow, thinking about going back to my Nexus 5 or maybe to my rooted G3.
but really, obviously something is wrong with your specific set up...

Hello guys.
I'm using navigation gestures and it works like it should.
But with Emui8 there's constantly a notification from android system that navigation gesture lays over other apps. It's a little bit annoying to see it every time i pull down the status bar.
Is there any way to disable it?

Nova Launcher

Anyone tried Nova Launcher in 4a yet? Waiting for mine.
Yes, rocking it the same way as before
Works just fine for me too.
Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
Imported my settings from a OnePlus phone and it setup everything on the 4a exactly as it was. No A10 gestures though, still.
Wallpapers ok? Easy fix, but my 5t is 1080x2560, going to the 4a 1080x2340. What seems odd is the 4a display looks taller (or same) and much narrower, than my 5t. Would have thought the opposite with that resolution.

It was one of the first things I installed and it's working perfectly.
I like how it put back all my icons and folders exactly where I had them. When I reinstalled apps, they went to the correct spots, with the correct icon I had chosen.
FYI, I just got the Android 11 beta 3 on 4a and current Nova version doesn't stick as default launcher however if you sign up for Nova beta, that will stick as default launcher.
Mine still shows a 9/10 delivery, so a11 might be officially out by then... I'm on Nova beta, so should work.

Man, there is one in every crowd, I guess. Yes, it works great. The only thing not working for me is turning scrolling wallpaper off. But, that might be an issue with an older live wallpaper and not Nova. Who cares if it is supported?

I do. Doesn't mean I won't try it and perhaps remain on Nova as it has been my go-to launcher for 5+ years on every Android device. That said, I place a high value on stability. Don't want to discover Nova crapped the bed after a routine 4a update. Hopefully official support from the developer is on the roadmap.
Not sure why you think it's not supported. PS description says it's good for all Android phones, up to Android 11 dp4.

Installed - no issues other than those common to all Android 10 builds. Was transformative wrt device appeal. Not fond of native launcher but wanted to hang with it for awhile to assess the 4a in its native state. Still not sure I'm going to keep it. Unquestionably a great phone at the price point but not sure it's better than what I have now given personal usage.
