Root and downgrade to Nougat - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

Greetings people, I have an LG V20 H990DS and I'm going to try to downgrade it to Nougat 7.0 basically because Oreo does not give me anything; I'm going to try to take the root and I have several questions to see if you can clarify it.
Apparently the only method of rooteo is the DirtySanta that is explained in this thread of XDA, it seems that one of the requirements to start using this method is that the security patch is before December 31, 2016, so that first thing I have to do is flash a previous .kdz and that's where my first questions arise:
1) Is this H990ds10b_00_OPEN_TW_DS_OP_1125.kdz firmware version worth it?
2) At the time of flashing so you see you can have two types of problems, that the LGUP does not recognize the device and that the “x”% of the flash of the .kdz stops and does not follow you
After a lot of googling, I found this patched lgup thread that apparently gives good results. Has anyone tried it? Will it go well?
Another thing that worries me is that, once the root is done, when you flash the kernel the video fails, and my question is Is there another kernel so that the video recording does not fail ?, and if I flash the Super Rom of This thread, does it come with a kernel that will not fail me?
And the last question; in the event that I decided to downgrade via LGUP to Nougat, simply without root, what firmware would you recommend that I would flash from https://lg-firmwares.com/en/lg-h990ds-firmwares/#tab= firmwares? (that has Spanish language and the last Nougat patch)
The truth is that I read a lot but I still do not have many clear things and I would appreciate any help.
(sorry for if I do not write very well but I do not speak English very well)

Can we lost the pre-rooted images on one thread?

Since it seems to be a common issue that rooting nougat on the honor 8 is a crapshoot at best, it seems like the way to go is flash the pre-rooted images for each model.
Can we please list them all in this one thread so it can be done?
Better yet, can we have a proper rooting thread for nougat including the proper version of TWRP, the instructions on how to unlock bootloader and all the pre-rooted images?
Right now its a mess, and any newcomer is not going to be able to find anything.
Personally I'm waiting for a patch from Huawei for all the bugs on B360. But it seems like we'll never get it/get pushed to the end.

My progress: LG V20 H918/7.0+ FRP bypass in 2018?

After putting my FRP-stuck T-Mobile V20 away for a couple months, I was unfortunately surprised to learn that very little public progress has been made on the subject since my last give-up. I dedicated the last day to trying to figure out FRP bypass for my LG V20, and upon re-researching, I have...
1. Managed to downgrade my V20 to H91810j, though this version still has all exploits patched to get through FRP (to my knowledge).
2. Upon further research, I concluded that what I need is to successfully downgrade to H91810d, as it's the only pre-December 2016 update available (pre-December updates have un-patched exploits to be able to get into the phone). Unfortunately, this update was the one released on the phones stock from the factory, which made it next to impossible to find a KDZ file as they were't "pushed" to the general public.
3. Through researching countless other threads, I've come across this link (I can't share as I still haven't posted 10 times, can DM if needed for reference) which appears to be the closest possible file to the needed H91810d, except the download is a .ZIP that contains Boot.img and Modem.img, which I'm not familiar with using, and no .KDZ file.
4. Further research concluded that I could TWRP-push these files to a TWRP unlocked device, but because of the locked FRP, such a thing isn't possible. My last and final method (which I will try tomorrow as it's 8 AM and i've been trying to get this damned phone unlocked for hours and need sleep) will be one recommended on another forum, which is to downgrade, reset the phone, upgrade, reset the phone, and continue on until FRP is no longer on the device.
Researching into other devices proves that it's definitely possible, though the V20 (especially the H918 model at that) seems to have far less information available towards achieving this. After giving a selection of paid services a look as well, the majority didn't have the ability to unlock the V20 either, which makes me question what the V20 is doing differently from other devices. If anybody has any information that could help me or the community in the matter, please let me know!

I am not, I would attempt to root but without being able to enable USB debugging, I'm sort of at a stalemate.
Have you looked at this........https://youtu.be/NWTmVIXkFDI

Well for those trying, I have a phone on H91810q, and the above process (hardreset link) does not work. when getting to the step to allow unsigned binaries it will not toggle. I tried a few other approaches that might get USB enabled (e.g. via LDB in SVC mode, but it also failed to toggle).
Does any know if you can downgrade an FRP locked phone without USB enabled? e.g. using the process described in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/step-step-guide-lg-v20-h918-unlocking-t3808258
Asking before I have to go find a windows box and spend an hour or so trying, in vain, if it is not possible.

Have you tried downgrading to h91810p first? H91810q might be patched as not to allow this method. Both h91810p & q are ARB1 so you CAN roll back before proceeding

I should also add that I used the method with Bluetooth earpiece. & comp method-

[RMX3085] How to unlock bootloader, root and enable call recording?

Hi,
I have vanilla version of Realme 8 phone running on Android 11. I turned it on to figure out the build number and it is A22, i did not connect or update it anyhow. Shall I do it before rooting? Now I want to root it and enable call recording. I have found the two conflicting guides https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/flashing-twrp-and-rooting-realme-8.4366399/ and https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...otloader-flash-twrp-and-root-rmx3085.4386473/ and I don't know which is correct one to follow. Shall I install versions of Magick and SP flash referred by these posts or the newest up to date versions? By the second guide I also wonder why to install TWRP if the Magisk is not installed through it and it shall itself be installed via Flashify app so I would have another app to flash files into phone. By the second guide shall I follow the first part when I did not upgraded anything but my version is A22?
Btw. the guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/realme-8-rmx3085-twrp.4365305/ recommends to use fastboot to flash TWRP which is in contradiction with other two posts which claim that fastboot is not working. I also would welcome guide for Linux if there is that option.
Thank you!
I am planning to visit my mother. I can take bicycle, tram or walk naked through the woods. each is in contradiction, which is the correct way?
I will better ask my mother

OOS 13 bootloader and root which guide

Hi,
I have a OnePlus8T (KB2003 EU) on OOS 13 Build number KB2003_11_F.13,
and I basically just want to root it, don't mind (even prefer) to stick with the stock rom and just gain root privileges.
The last phone I had and rooted was a galaxy S something in the middle of the last decade so I'm more than rusty and kind of not in the lingo.
I was hoping you could help me clarify some things because the phone as we all know is not new and the guides updated with time so I'm sort of lost.
So, my questions are
I understand that I need to unlock the bootloader first, I assume the following guide is still relevant for that part (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...oneplus-8t-for-any-oxygen-os-version.4183443/),
please correct me if I'm wrong
Side Note: I also understood Helius is the best backup option for non-rooted devices, but it seems to be no longer publicly available so if you have another option that you recommend it will be the best
For the next part I saw multiple options which I didn't really understood in the sticky thread:
[GUIDE] Root and keeping root options
Update 230526: Correct numbering of "B.1.1 Simple" to "B.1.2 Simple", use "OOS 13+" instead of "OOS 13" as OOS 13.1 is now available A. First time rooting This process is common across all options A.1 Flashing Magisk patched boot image There...
forum.xda-developers.com
There's the MSM option, but it seems the tools that are from the thread he mentions are only for Android 11 so I'm not sure it's for me.
The same can be said for the Payload Dumper method, since I don't know which OTA to download and install, the ones listed inside the thread are I think for OOS 11 (though again, just assuming by version prefix, so please correct me if I'm wrong).
I believe the same goes for the ones in the other sticky thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/oneplus-8t-rom-ota-oxygen-os-repo-of-oxygen-os-builds.4193183/)
The third option listed there is using TWRP / Orange Fox, I assume Orange Fox is the one I need but still, I'm not sure the version I need to download, and the flashables fitting (kebab or something?)
Basically, I'm sort of trying to understand by which guides to go, which ota / roms to download that are fitting for my build, and if rooting requires me downgrading versions how can I do it safely
Sorry upfront for the "new guy" questions, and thanks!

Dirty flashing Android 12 to Android 13 N986U (ATT).

Hello,
I recently upgraded my Note 20 Ultra (N986U) (ATT) (unlocked) from Android 11 to Android 12 (N986USQU2EVA9) by dirty flashing via Odin. I followed a guide on this forum and thankfully, my phone updated with no issues whatsoever with my data and apps intact. This basically means that I flashed normally except I used the HomeCSC and I left "userdata" empty at Odin.
I just realized that SamFW posted the new ATT firmware, Android 13 (N986USQU3GVK5) and I wanted to update to it via Odin.
The reason on why I want to update it via Odin instead of OTA is simply because I don't live in the USA and I don't have an ATT Sim/network in my country. Can I still follow the dirty flash method for this? I'm just a bit afraid that since it uses a different bootloader version or maybe because of the android version difference I may go into bootloop with no way out. Has anyone tried this?
I would like to apologize if this question has been asked before. I tried scrolling through the depths of XDA forums for answers but I can't seem to find any answers. Thank you for your time!
Hey there just wanna give a quick update.
Yes, it works fine. I've done it personally and every apps, data etc. is intact.
I hope this is useful for anyone who is in the same predicament as me.
