[RMX3085] How to unlock bootloader, root and enable call recording? - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have vanilla version of Realme 8 phone running on Android 11. I turned it on to figure out the build number and it is A22, i did not connect or update it anyhow. Shall I do it before rooting? Now I want to root it and enable call recording. I have found the two conflicting guides https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/flashing-twrp-and-rooting-realme-8.4366399/ and https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...otloader-flash-twrp-and-root-rmx3085.4386473/ and I don't know which is correct one to follow. Shall I install versions of Magick and SP flash referred by these posts or the newest up to date versions? By the second guide I also wonder why to install TWRP if the Magisk is not installed through it and it shall itself be installed via Flashify app so I would have another app to flash files into phone. By the second guide shall I follow the first part when I did not upgraded anything but my version is A22?
Btw. the guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/realme-8-rmx3085-twrp.4365305/ recommends to use fastboot to flash TWRP which is in contradiction with other two posts which claim that fastboot is not working. I also would welcome guide for Linux if there is that option.
Thank you!

I am planning to visit my mother. I can take bicycle, tram or walk naked through the woods. each is in contradiction, which is the correct way?
I will better ask my mother

I want to learn how to flash/unlock

I want to add flashing and unlocking services to my families business because it's in demand. I didn't see any general guide pop up on the search list. Can anyone help?
There's no "one guide fits all". Each device manufacturer has a slightly different way of dong it. You have to visit each device forum and find the HOW-TOs on how to unlock and flash each device.
it's not difficult, but you have to ensure you do it properly or you risk potential damage.
the most comman way to unlock and flashing is-
first make sure you have enough drivers for devices (can also use ADB driver installer to find drivers)
and you also must have stock rom of that device (in tar.md5 format)
start with downloading drivers and stock roms of many devices you can.
after download them put them in your pc and creat a list of devices which drivers and roms you have
also download latest version of odin and some videos about "how to flash rom with odin" these vedios will help you in future.
test yourself by flashing your own device first
if everything done correctly then you can try it on customers device (which is in your list)
dont do anything else with devices only connect them>install them with right drivers> open odin select tar.md5 files and flash
if unsuccessful return them their device and ask them to contact mobile care...
[do everything on your own risk]
Posting what device you want to flash/unlock would be a start
Using the search button is the answer

For flashing custom roms, to begin with you should figure out how to do the following by searching on XDA:
1 - Install ADB drivers
2 - Root a phone
3 - Unlock the bootloader
4 - Install Custom Recovery
5 - Make Nandroid Backup
6 - Flash Custom Kernel
7 - Flash Custom Rom
The methods and files are different for each phone but broadly speaking they are the same. So perhaps you should try it out with your own phone first, then try more and more and you will get a good hang of it. Its not really that hard, just make sure you read and follow instructions properly otherwise you can brick the phone.
For unlocking phones, I am not sure. If you google there are some methods for popular phones like on this site - http://www.wikihow.com/Unlock-Mobile-Phones but I do not know if that works. You can always use a website to get the unlock code and charge your customer a little bit more than what you pay for the unlock code.

Question Is my bootloader unlocked? Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930VL)

Hi all,
So I've inherited an old S7 and I'm trying to install LineageOS on it. I've got the build for the OS done already, but to sideload it, I need the custom recovery TWRP installed on my phone, but I haven't been successful getting it installed on my phone, and after talking with the folks on the LineageOS subreddit, it's unclear if my phone's bootloader is unlocked, which it needs to be to install TWRP. I've enabled developer options on my phone, enabled USB Debugging, and I've enabled OEM unlock. However, when I follow their instructions to install TWRP, I boot into recovery mode, and the stock recovery mode loads.
I can't tell if my bootloader is unlocked or not, and any test I've followed apparently doesn't work on my phone because Samsung. I found this tutorial on this forum about unlocking my particular phone model - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlock-bootloader-sm-g930vl-straighttalk.3436986/ - but I have 2 problems.
1) The first response links to a guide, but almost all the download links the author listed no longer work - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ning-to-stock-a-galaxy-s7-or-s7-edge.3411039/ - I believe I already have the Samsung drivers and ADB setup on my computer; I was able to find a download for Odin; but I have no idea where to get the root images, and nobody else in the comments posted an alternate link that I could see.
2) In the original thread, other users suggested just using the Eng boot instead of the guide I listed, but nobody listed a download link, and I don't know what it is, or how I would tell an official download link from a questionable reupload.
If anybody can help clarify some of my confusion, or point me to where I could get the downloads I'm looking for, I would very much appreciate it.

[Resolved] TMO OP7 Root not on International

Hey everyone, I've been trying to search for a solution to rooting my OP7 from T-Mobile and I think I have hit a dead end so I went ahead and created this post to ask for some advice.
So backstory: I have a business account with T-Mobile and they allow me to unlock my phone with little to no hassle at all, I unlocked my T-Mobile phone, and my OP7 got updated to Android 11 over night that I didn't realize it happened my current build is: Oxygen OS 11.0.1.1.GM31CB and my model is GM1915.
Okay so I am following this guide: https://www.xda-developers.com/unlock-bootloader-root-oneplus-7-pro/
I have followed through with Step 1, unlocking my OEM, and Step 2, unlocking my bootloader. So for step 3, the guide says to flash TWRP and from what I've read there is no TWRP that works for Android 11 right now so I am not sure if I can do that. Then step 4 is to flash Magisk after booting to recovery, but I am not sure if I can actually do that with TWRP?
So the question I got is how do I go about rooting my OP7? Can I root without TWRP? The guides video also said I needed a bin file of the current OS but there seems to be none available for GM31CB. Curious where I go from here. Can I roll back to Android 10? Do I need to switch over to the international version? and if I did would I be able to downgrade back to Android 10?
Thanks in advance.
Edit 1: I just converted to the international version and will be rooting that way.
was just about to answer you...hope u got it working the international way...i have twrp working...u must flash a zip to decrypt your internal...search or hit me later...i can email it to you or something...and if possible...next time you update to A11 Tmobile can you save it?....can't find it anywhere online...
That guide is pretty outdated I feel like. If you have you phone unlocked through T-Mobile you can simply follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...unlock-twrp-root-and-update.3940368/#poststop
It's the one I followed to get my phone rooted + twrp installed.
I am in the same boat, T-mobile decided to push android 11 and rebooted. Android 11 is running fine with all my data intact but i have lost root and recovery. Trying to figure out easiest way to regain root, not worried about TWRP at the moment. Seems like patching the boot.img with magisk is the way to go but I cannot find a download from T-mobile for the full update to extract the payload.bin and boot.img. Is the payload.bin accessible using a file manager on the phone to copy to sdcard then transfer to PC? If not looks like waiting for some workaround or formatting data and starting from scratch
OOO just saw OPs edit, looks like i might be switching over to international firmware too and going that route. Did not plan on doing this today.

HELP ROOT MOTO ONE 5g ACE (XT2113-2) Android 10 from T-Mobile

Hello: I'm using the guide clintongsan made to root a usa moto one 5g ace android 10 purchased in april 2022 from a T-mobile store here in the south on the east side of the mississippi river.
My build number is QZKS30.Q4-40-95-9 The last build number on this link
( https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/kiev/official/TMO/ ) is QZKS30.Q4-40-95-6 with a
date of 02/11/2022. Will that work for me since I have 95-9 and that one is 95-6 There is a grayed out statement that there are 68 more subfolders but I don't know how to access it to see if my build is there. Also on the Motorola website for unlocking the bootloader, Get your device ID, there are examples for compacting the lines of code into a long string. The examples are for Windows and Mac. I'm using a Linux laptop and no example exists. The Moto site gives a link to download SDK tools. Is there a site where I can download the minimum tools required? Probably more questions to follow for sure. Thank you

Honestly I've been trying to figure out the best way to go about this as well. My fiance is interested in having her phone rooted. I'm just trying to figure a well to where i can just access the boot image off the phone somehow so i can patch it using magisk. well obviously backing up the original image first, but i've heard twrp doesn't work and i tried using QFIL to see if i can access it but i don't think it has EDL. If you figured out a way to do it without flashing a older update to the phone. Please let me know. I'll do the same after I look into it a bit more. I feel like i'm just over complicating somehow lol I have a tendency of doing that.

On Build number 95-9? Or a previous version? I'm asking because I couldn't even get the bootloader unlocked on a 95-9 phone (unlock "failed" after getting the code from Moto). I'm still trying to get an answer as to whether if the newest OTA is a problem.

As for 40-95-9 firmware, a sure way to get that firmware is Moto/Lenovo's "Rescue and Smart Assistant", aka "LMSA" (search, should be easy to find). Use the Rescue option and stop (EDIT/ADD: let the download finish), go to the folder where it was downloaded (make sure to get the download link shown in the utility) and find the firmware in the ".../ROMfiles" subfolder I think it is. That's the full firmware including boot.img. I used that subfolder to reflash the entire 95-9 firmware. EDIT/ADD: But this assumes Rescue and Smart Assistant on Windows, NOT Linux. I don't know if there is a Linux version for that, sorry. {--Or do you have a Windows emulator in your Linux that might solve this particular issue?--)
I DO NOT KNOW -- yet -- if 95-9 is rootable or even unlockable. Unlock failed for me on a 95-9 phone . . . although I did get an Unlock Code from Moto (on a Windows PC).
So this is a question back at you: HAVE YOU MANAGED TO UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER on your 95-9 phone?

Yeah it was on 95-9, just make sure to read through the thread cause I kind of messed up in the process but once you flash twrp and boot into it, flash the kiev file and magisk. I had to keep reading. I flashed to both partition a and b.

I should've been more specific with my question, sorry. . . . Did you actually unlock your bootloader on 95-9, or was it unlocked prior to that OTA and then you ran the root process on 95-9?
@vansteering , I don't mean to hijack your thread.

OOS 13 bootloader and root which guide

Hi,
I have a OnePlus8T (KB2003 EU) on OOS 13 Build number KB2003_11_F.13,
and I basically just want to root it, don't mind (even prefer) to stick with the stock rom and just gain root privileges.
The last phone I had and rooted was a galaxy S something in the middle of the last decade so I'm more than rusty and kind of not in the lingo.
I was hoping you could help me clarify some things because the phone as we all know is not new and the guides updated with time so I'm sort of lost.
So, my questions are
I understand that I need to unlock the bootloader first, I assume the following guide is still relevant for that part (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...oneplus-8t-for-any-oxygen-os-version.4183443/),
please correct me if I'm wrong
Side Note: I also understood Helius is the best backup option for non-rooted devices, but it seems to be no longer publicly available so if you have another option that you recommend it will be the best
For the next part I saw multiple options which I didn't really understood in the sticky thread:
[GUIDE] Root and keeping root options
Update 230526: Correct numbering of "B.1.1 Simple" to "B.1.2 Simple", use "OOS 13+" instead of "OOS 13" as OOS 13.1 is now available A. First time rooting This process is common across all options A.1 Flashing Magisk patched boot image There...
forum.xda-developers.com
There's the MSM option, but it seems the tools that are from the thread he mentions are only for Android 11 so I'm not sure it's for me.
The same can be said for the Payload Dumper method, since I don't know which OTA to download and install, the ones listed inside the thread are I think for OOS 11 (though again, just assuming by version prefix, so please correct me if I'm wrong).
I believe the same goes for the ones in the other sticky thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/oneplus-8t-rom-ota-oxygen-os-repo-of-oxygen-os-builds.4193183/)
The third option listed there is using TWRP / Orange Fox, I assume Orange Fox is the one I need but still, I'm not sure the version I need to download, and the flashables fitting (kebab or something?)
Basically, I'm sort of trying to understand by which guides to go, which ota / roms to download that are fitting for my build, and if rooting requires me downgrading versions how can I do it safely
Sorry upfront for the "new guy" questions, and thanks!
