So i want to save a long text string in any file (text, doc, native, anything) but my requirement is that I can quickly open the file without internet and quickly search for a text withing this file.
I know search function in a Microsoft Word document can do this but is there anything faster?

Hi all,
I have a question on which I wasn't able to find an answer.
Every time I'm trying to close *.txt file on my pocket PC (htc touch hd) I got a message:
"Saving this document in this format may remove some formatting. Do you want to save as Word instead?"
Is there any registry option how to remove this question?
I really want to use txt files on my pocket pc.
Thanks a lot
Petra
What i do is use [Software] Notepad (Text Editor, WM6.5 Ready) and change the associations to .txt with Total Commander.
Hi,
this is quite a good idea but still it didn't help, because in this case I need to confirm another message when I change something in file:
"Would you like to save chagnes to *.txt?"
"Yes""No""Cancel"
If I change something in word, no such message appears and changes are saved automatically.
thanks
Petra
No such notification when i use the above directions provided
Can open .txt edit and just save as the reason Office asks is due to that it want's to preference .doc over .txt.
Attached installs to Windows & places shortcut in Start Menu/Programs/Office Mobile, you will still have to set the association.
Hi, I need a notes application that saves editable text files to the SD card. Then I can open it on my computer, edit it, save it, and then open it on my phone again with the changes.
All the notes apps I have tried so far only backup to the SD card and I haven't been able to edit them once it's there. Preferably offline.
Thanks
Txtpad lite! And its free! I dunno what the paid version adds though.
I was looking for a txt editor whose files could be easily transferred and edited on PC and I found this gem of an editor.
The only main drawback I see is that it doesn't really provide a list of memos, schedules, etc, but you can overcome that somewhat by creating a shortcut to a folder dedicated to tasks. It is a purely a text editor, but a really good one IMO.
Strengths:
Char by char Undo/redo button!
Ability to save, save as, or discard changes.
Ability to configure autosave or manual save files.
Ability to use alternate file encoding for saving files: UTF-16, Big5, etc, japanese
Configurable toolbar for all the common tasks like select, copy, paste, undo/redo, save, save as.
Ability to change font sizes.
Ability to send txt to email.
I wish it uses black background instead of white.
I checked briefly a few othere threads and didnt notice an app out there...Is anyone aware of an app that will take a picture of a document and then convert it into a word file? I'm thinking of this for the use of converting notes I take in class to a PDF and/or word document that I can use to create study notes.
I'm running honeycomb on a xoom tablet.
Thanks!
i think Google Goggles will help u with this...
i use it to take pic of my study notes and convert to text, which i copy paste to document...
Do you know if there're any that recognize Arabic text?
The Google Docs App has this funtion iirc. I don't know about Arabic support, you'd have to try it.
Hi,
I have numerous Microsoft Word forms with form fields (free text, dropdown lists, checkboxes etc.) included. I need to be able to open these documents and edit the form fields on an Android device but I am unable to find an application that allows this. I have found numerous apps that allow me to edit a Word document but the form fields are not retained or editable. I can also get this to work using a PDF document however this needs to be in Word for my purposes so that future editing can occur also.
Hoping someone can help me out!
Thanks,
Danielle
Hi, Is there a way to search the text using Evernote or other apps? I mean search the text document like you can in adobe reader on android? I have very long txt files and I have to do some in-text search in order to find some maths parameters.
