Rooted phone? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Okay so my device is Galaxy S7 and I had it rooted and running LineageOS for a few days. Because of security, I decided to install stock firmware using Odin. This runs well as stock. Play store and phone info sata this is certified and official software. SafetyNet gets everything passed and says no root. But still my Samsung apps cant run, since they think this is rooted... What to do? Can there be some files left?

What country / region ?
What firmware? 7.0? 8.0?
Where did you get the firmware?
Did you flash with Odin?

After rooting your phone warranty will be set to 1.
You can check by going to download mode and reading the property : Warranty void
If its a 1 you can never use these apps again for security reasons

This isn't correct, once you flash back to stock with Odin the security is restored. The knox counter trip means the warranty is void because the phone had been rooted etc

Yes it is. The apps dont check the status of your phone they check ro.boot.warranty_bit

I downloaded the nordic country most recent one. So I guess its 8.0... And got recommendations for SamMobile. And yes, I used Odin to flash this firmware.

Clarification on flashing original firmware

I have a galaxy s6 bought from malaysia and it was region locked. I initially thought it will be easy to unlock but I couldnt unlock it so I took it to local mobile service center. There they unlocked the phone. I dont know how they unlocked it but I think he used some box like octoplus. When I recieved the phone from him it was rooted and the knox counter was tripped.
I know I have voided the warranty but thats fine. Now I dont recieve any updates from Samsung. I want to flash the original samsung firmware back and I have the following clarification before doing it by myself.
1. If I flash the original samsung firmware using smart switch or odin will the phone be unrooted and will I start receiving updates
2. Currently in my smart manager-> device security it says security threat found and I get the notification "unauthorized action detected restart your device to undo any unauthorized changes". Will this error message go off and will the device threat go off.
3. Will installing My knox cause any problem or I should avoid installing it ?
4. Currently "In find my mobile" remote controls is not getting enabled. Will the find my mobile feature start working after flashing the official firmware.
Thanks in advance

if you have tripped knox to 1 then the warranty is voided. you can't unvoid it. furthermore, malaysian SGS6 are G920F, which is supposed to be international unlocked versions. where did you buy this in malaysia? i hope it's not low yat or some shady place.
Yes its G920F. All Samsung galaxy phones are region locked irrespective of where its bought. I dint buy in low yat. But I just curious why you are skeptical about low yat ?. Is low yat not a good place to buy ?
I know I have voided the warranty but I want to know the answer to the above questions

you should try installing the official firmware through smart switch first. then slowly work on the rest. use emergency firmware initilization.
2. i'm not sure.
low yat can sell you at a cheap price, but i have had friends who had been conned of several things there before.
I am sure many would have tripped Knox and flashed stock firmware and you must be having answers to my clarification. Can anyone help me by answering my questions

bro, i suggest you try installing Smart Switch on your PC, then click more at the top right hand corner, click emergency firmware initialization > Device initialization > Key in SM-G920F > key in your Serial number > click okay (make sure to back up first) then install the latest firmware. That should unroot your phone. The rest of the questions you asked, may be fixed after you unroot your phone
Ok. Thanks zincsnow. I will try it.

This is India, you cannot do much. Any how I cannot use samsung Malaysia warranty here. I will not be using samsung pay here. My only concerns is getting OTA updates from samsung and find my mobile to work, because I have a previous experience of losing my phone.
zincsnow have you tripped the knox. if yes and if you are on stock firmware back. What does the device security under smart manager say ?

alright then. i have tripped knox but i haven't gone back to stock.
Bro, please follow this link to unroot your galaxy S6 and bring it back to stock.
you'll be able to update your device normally after that.
I have updated my device using smart switch now everything works fine. I didn't try installing my Knox because I don't need 2 environments one for work and personal. Thanks all especially zincsnow
I was surprised about one thing. I was expecting that once the installation is completed my phone will be in a new state but it had all my datas and settings intact nothing was changed, not sure if restore had run.

no worries mate. have a great day!

My knox cannot be installed because a custom os has previously been installed!! Help

So I just recently got my Samsung Galaxy S6 of eBay and its brand new. I installed Knox yesterday and when I press "Get Started" it says some custom os has been installed previously. I searched up for this and the only problem I can find is that your device status is probably Custom or your phone is rooted.
But I have none of them when I go see my Device status it says Official and I also made sure that my device isn't rooted. I have lollipop and I haven't received any updates on this phone for Marshmallow either.

Have you installed a custom recovery?
Use this to check Knox status: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bryancandi.knoxcheck Once Knox is tripped, it's tripped forever.
If it's not tripped, download the latest ROM for your device using the SamFirm tool, install using Odin, factory reset, and try again.
Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk
I downloaded and opened that app and it said Warranty Valid.
It says my firmware details and stuff.
Knox Warranty Status: 0x0

Or should I just leave it alone?

Thank you very much DarryDoo you saved my life lol. My netflix, screen mirroring were not working before and now its working. Man thank you!
I also recently got my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 of brand new in sealed box. I installed Knox today as I need to run Mobileiron and when I press "Get Started" it says "My Knox cannot be installed because unauthorised software has been installed on your device!
I've done some googleing, checked my - knox warranty is 0x0
I had a look at the phone status in ODIN MODE and it says
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N920A
Strange thing is when looking at info in - About Device it says Model number = SM-N920F
Anyhow I need to get the KNOX installed so I can use my BYOD, what's my best approach to make this happen?
Many thanks

You can use custome roms to gain access to shealth.
Im using Noble nougat 4.0 s8 port, and works great.
Hi.
You still can use SHealt
This is how (of course you need root access) lint to post
Sorry but you can forget to use Knox after you tripped Knox flag.
Try root with Magisk - this allow you to "hide" root from some apps.
PS
Sometimes root is not a bad thing...
Setting ro.config.tima to 0 fixes SHealth. For the Samsung login you'll need to read this, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71566173&postcount=6

How to check if phone has been tamped with

Hi, i have ordered a Samsung S8+ that was discounted as it had left the store and been returned and I'm a paranoid guy so.
Is there any way to check if the software on the phone has been tampered with?
I live in Sweden so its a Exynos version.
Would a factory reset restore the device to its original state?

If you are okay with the phone being rooted or knox being tripped you can installed TWRP on it and wipe the internal storage and then use ODIN to flash stock firmware. Anything that could have been tampered with on the phone should get erased then.

Lots of software checks for KNOX, and if it's not the factory default value (i.e it isn't 0x0 but 0x1), it won't run. Only solution is a custom firmware that hides this from these software.

Unroot?

Is there a way to fully unroot and return this phone to stock at this time? Im assuming root will also trip the knox counter - can this be undone? I often resell my phones on Craigslist when I upgrade and I wanna make sure I can sell it right.
Just flash the stock firmware, knox can't be undone, and the amount of people that checked if my previous phones were rooted is none.

Most likely, you also won't get updates anymore.
You'll have to sell root as a feature, somehow, when getting rid of the phone.
I rooted my S8+ three days ago it was all good except a crazy bixby home app crash. It made me crazy . So i dowloaded stock firm g955u verison.
After flashing it again using odin . I had an error ... I reboot again and did a factory reset ... .and it s all good now . .. unrooted with full functionalities
