Are current phones "lag free"? - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
i'm currently using a Galaxy S3 (I9300 int) with LineageOs 14.1 (Android 7.1.2).
Ok, this phone is a few years old, and originally shipped with Android 4, so i'm quite happy that it still runs relatively well with a newer android version.
However, it is rather unresponsive in certain situations and i am wondering how more recent phones (with stock roms and with lineageos) would perform in these cases, given that the raw Mhz didn't increase that drastically.
-When receiving a call and ringing, the phone often needs like 5 seconds before the screen lights up and i can accept the call
-Switching on the screen via the power button usally takes a fraction of a second, but in some cases only the buttons light up instantly but the screen takes up to 5 seconds. Sometimes the screen goes back to sleep before it even activated.
-the unlock pattern often is too unresponsive to swipe the correct pattern, unless given a few seconds to stabilize
-Enabling the camera via double pressing the power button, sliding from the lock screen, or the launcher, often takes 10 seconds (or crashes)
-while downloading app updates on WLAN, opening any other app often takes 2-3 seconds
Will these things be "instant" on a current 200-400$ phone like a P20, OnePlus 6, Galaxy S8? Both on Stock and with LineageOs (and GApps)?

Do you use social media apps? If so, that/those social media apps and Google Play Services are the biggest causes of your lag.
Also, yes, over the years, the GHz of mobile processors haven't changed that much relatively, but that doesn't mean that the newer processors are not faster than the older ones, as CPU generations evolve, so do their architectures, this is where the biggest increase in speed comes from compared to the older architectures, the number of cores is also a slight factor, it is not the GHz "per se" that is increasing the speed compared to older processors.
For example, a 1.2GHz CPU from 2018 with a newer architecture is much faster than a 1.2GHz CPU from 2012 with an older architecture.
Amount of RAM, RAM type and RAM speeds are also a factor, RAM in older devices does not perform as well as RAM in newer devices.

Depending on the usage every phone lags.

I have bought Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and it is absolutely lag free because of the new One UI seems.
I have finally got the smooth IPhone experience.
It is so fast and lag free that I asked myself why should I root it at all (I did by the way!).
The phones are getting faster and faster and that is for sure.
I had similar experience with Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus running Samsung Experience.

Increase Smart Phone Battery Life

Hi, firstly I'm sorry my english is a little bad )
Did you even harder to charge your smartphone is based on the first day? Here are tips that you fully based. Get away from the stress of the outside end charging of battery life and increase your phone.
1 - Home Screen Wallpaper and Theme you are using:
If you are using a smart phone with AMOLED screen, predominantly black wallpaper should be preferred. AMOLED technology while light colors such as white because it consume more power. LCD and SLCD screens, such a situation is not in question.
My suggestion is not to use an animated wallpaper for Android users in particular. Animated wallpaper, using the phone's hardware more. This is going to have to consume more power than the components.
Android users should note also displays add to the widgets. Widgets are always synchronized with the running and intense 3D graphics, as well as the equipment used for the data connection şarjınızı effects shot.
2 - Display Lighting:
It is best to leave the automatic setting of this area.
But I do not like to remain on automatic. If you need to talk I'm being honest, I always light at the highest level. Because all the ingredients here, and it will not have to perform the charging period will be longer.
But I do not want to go up to the maximum number of days gidebilecekse say it, my proposal is worthwhile to listen to. Big and wide screens of smartphones, especially in the light of day very well read. Do not force the phone to the light a little bit, then move to a higher level.
But it starts to get dark, shine your light, especially in the evening turn down the screen. Smart phones display lights to a minimum, even offers sufficient light in the evening. This is an effective tactic.
3 - Wireless Connections:
Smart phones are undoubtedly the most power-consuming units, wireless connections. WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G that are overviewed, 3G and GPS fully charge the enemy.
According to their attempts, with the closure of all wireless connections between all of them to be open to play at least half a day I've noticed.
For example, turn off the GPS. Only helpful both when business is active. Shortcuts available in Android and Symbian Belle. The option to turn on and off in a practical way. We also do not walk Bluetooth is on. It is also charged unnecessarily waste.
A clear grasp of 3G and WiFi when it is, let's not say conect. When connecting to open it. If you say'm going to necessarily turn off syncing on Android.
Sync / Sync, for a certain period of time it şarjınıza negative effect on the data are drawn. When you use the most sense to synchronize.
4 - Your RAM (temporary memory) Operate the program free to leave and at the bottom:
Most are at fault here. If you open up the application on the phone and waiting at the bottom. E, the processor is running at full speed all the time. The conclusion is obvious.
And then they were going at the charge of the phone as well as the complaints are coming slowly. Take a notebook and a lot of that time in the program's run, so let's wait. Let's see what is going to charge?
There are applications for the program terminates, especially Android. But most of these applications 24/7 has an adverse effect charging them for trying.
I would recommend this program to Android users. Download this app. Click on the widget closes all running applications. However, if you open the program by clicking the icon, you can see and what you want Implementations running off. I would recommend this method.
When you close all the system applications to open them again, the power turns off, and then spends the processor. Here you can download the program[/URL]
5 - Efficiently Manage Your Smart Phone Processor:
This section applies to users Root'lu. Root evaded users have this right, they do not die. Linux-based smartphones, especially those driven into exile in the market with a certain processor speed settings.
In general, the phones are set to OnDemand, the processor can adjust the speed according to the amount of use. For example, a 1 GHz processor that the phone does not work all the time at 1 GHz.
Their phone for the sake of example, a 1 GHz - 265 MHz range is running. I changed speeds. If you charge the phone and the maximum to withstand reduced from 500 to 128 can do. But later in your job will be completed on the processor to use 100% of himself. This will mean that the screen backlight to stay on and wait for you. I mean, at least let it charge the struggle, suffering Pull spend more charge.
I phone 1190 - 450 range using the. I can do my work as well as installing and getting faster. Charging time is important, 1190 - 128 range I choose.
Forget! Reduce the processor speed on the phone, when trading amplify şarjınızı. Because it is trying to slow the processor 100% to use and work will be completed on your screen light will stay open late.
6 - When charging the phone's battery Full Fill:
Do not say we already have would remove 100% charge to fill it. Phone software does not fully charge the battery. Leaves a certain margin of tolerance. Here we also benefit by it. In particular I saw that HTC Desire'da tried and successful. Each company's share of each model, it will not stop. But you can be on your left. Does not hurt to try.
Explaining the steps for:
-Phone up to 100% of full charge.
-Turn off the phone, remove and charge the phone.
-Install and charge the phone again, wait until bekleyebildiğiniz. (1-3 hours)
-Turn your phone into the phone, and remove the charge.
-Wait for your phone to do nothing between 2-5 minutes after opening. (Not attached to Sharjah)
-Turn off your phone again and again for at least half an hour into charging.
Remove and use the phone in the normal-charging. The procedure is finished.
This method has been calibrated with the battery is charging and fully. Enough to do this once. And then he goes to full charge.
7 - Special Edition Operating Systems Aim for:
Android users who root for in this Article. Made by the manufacturers of Android devices, phone skins, chargers doing negative effect on life.
TouchWiz, Sense interfaces, such as, the system is more tiring, as they lower the charge time. So we have the benefit of using a pure version of Android.
With pure Android versions like CyanogenMod custom Android versions sure to use similar interfaces. The term of charge with a very stretched. Will be surprised.
Of course, I do not recommend this method to anyone. Aware of the change and the risk of all the phone's Android software will recommend it to our readers.
Suggestions useful to you?
Thanks!!! i will follow these tips :good:

My review on Nokia 7 plus

So,
This is what I have observed so far after using the device (Oreo 8.1 July security patch) for the last two days.
Pros:
1. The device is pretty fast and smooth.
2. Battery life is quite amazing.
3. The camera is pretty decent.
4. Screen resolution is mind blowing even though it doesn't have AMOLED screen.
5. The device looks fantastic and the build quality is rock solid as always.
6. I kinda like the round screen.
7. Fingerprint sensor is very responsive.
8. Nokia support app comes pretty handy.
9. Network is very stable and doesn't fluctuate at all.
10. Call quality is very clear and loud.
Cons:
1. Loudspeaker volume is quite low.
2. A lot of system apps always run in the background (I don't know why. I never noticed such thing on my last device; Xiaomi Mi A1)
3. Device stutters mainly while swiping up or down to app drawer.
4. Few games lag (e.g. Dream League Soccer)
5. Device becomes very fast after reducing animation scales to 0.5, but the overall interface becomes very unstable.
6. It takes quite a few seconds to uninstall an app (On my last devices; S6 edge and Mi A1, apps used to get uninstalled as soon as I click on Uninstall).
7. System UI crashes sometimes. The device also freezes occasionally.
8. Most of the system apps (e.g. AOSP keyboards, Google Drive etc.) can't be disabled.
9. The most complained con; No bootloader unlocking!!
10. Lack of good hard case (e.g. Spigen doesn't offer case for Nokia 7 plus) available in the market.
N.B. The review is completely based on my experience. Your experience may vary based on your usage.
If anyone knows any workaround for the cons I have mentioned above, you are welcome to share it here.
Wait for Android p, it will reduce dramatically reduce lags and stutters. I feel same about cases, but no can-do.

Do not find the cons you mention apart from "Bootloader" unlock. I run with .5 animation and have not had any problems. Spigen might not have a case but there are other cases available. BTW I am in UK and model is TA-1055.

slow in loading app

My phone takes about 3 sec to open apps very annoying is there a way to fix it
I'd suggest opening your favorite/most commonly used apps locking them in the recents app list and that should really help you with any noticable lag. Also I'd make sure you have ram optimization on. Coming from a LG G6 to this OP7 pro 8gb of ram paired with the 855 this thing is a monster and mine rarely ever studders to open an app. I also keep my phone in power save mode 90% of the time but set the apps I use the most to not be optimized along with locking them in the background

Update OP for bugreports from last version to check what's fixed, what's new, what's still broken. Will update my review as soon as I dig deeper into the new update.
Let's begin:
Update was about 22MB going from .05 to .7 and it took just a few minutes to install. (wasn't this supposed to be 06 or 6?)
On a first look there is a new MiCommunity app now being forced as system, it's like an app for their forum and being promoted as "must have", I don't think so, but that's that.
Testing download speed on a 150mbps uplink b/g/n router goes up to 30mbps but there is a QOS system managing the wi-fi, with QOS disabled we got a speed of 60mbps.
Testing download speed on moderate 4G signal is simply horrendous clocking at 2mbps and with full signal clocking at 4mbps (this is simply a joke) so the 4G bug still persists.
Microphone bug is now fixed, tested in Facebook Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp. But while in facebook messenger volume seems to be loud, in Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp volume is lower, but audio is ok.
Video recording has a bug while focusing and sometimes misses the subject (not actually blurry, but soft focussed and not sharp), and while tapping to focus, it still misses (test it on your own computer screen). Camera seems to work ok as functionality, but JPEG quality is lowered, file size of photos is lowered, and the overall quality of the pictures is lower than previous update (old update picture file size 8MB, now 3MB). Picture attached, you can see some artifacting in the natural blur area (this is not portrait photo) and it only gets worse in low light.
Customize your pixel message is still present and cannot be dismissed.
5Ghz band in Wi-Fi tether is now working.
Sim card menu is still not adapted to the dark mode, it persists to be white while global theme is dark.
This update cleared about 2GB of storage space (at least for me).
Google Play security is still 1 May 2020.
Nothing new to report setting wise, no new features, nothing broken.
Overall performance testing each setting in the menu was very good, no slowdowns.
Moving to general system and 3rd party experience:
3rd party audio effects now work without process crash (Noozxoide EIZO-Rewire E).
Playback of SACD DSF, FLAC, and MP3 is flawless.
OK Google now works ok.
General audio quality was improved, by lowering the overall volume of media (Xiaomi's side) while keeping it louder for ringtones. Good job! Audio lacks bass a litte, but it's crispier now.
Gaming experience with resource heavy games is fine and has no problems: tested with Asphalt 9, Black Desert Mobile, Honkai Impact and PPSSPP emulation (framedrop to 24 from 30 - PSP games are locked at 30fps - is because the screenshot animation).
Multitasking while resource heavy gaming was done without system reloading any of those games, could switch to any of those games on the fly without problems.
Youtube playback for 1080p60fps didn't drop any frames (1 frames dropped when switching to 1080p60).
No other 3rd party, play store app encountered any problems.
During heavy testing CPU temperature didn't go over 42C and no thermal throttling slowed down the device.
With 96 applications loaded into the memory device started to work a little slower, but keeping in mind that 96 apps were loaded I believe that's just fine.
Now locking/unlocking, reboot and USB MTP testing:
Unlocking the device via fingerprint is smooth and fast with no apps started.
Unlocking the device via fingerprint with a lot of apps in the memory is still fast and smooth.
Unlocking the device via swipe is still weird but works better than the last update, so lockscreen unlock was not fully fixed, still fails sometimes to pop up pin code.
Lock and unlock sounds work as intended.
Notifications can ring over playing music without stuttering.
Charging sound work as intended, but it's a little quiet.
MTP is still inconsistent in transferring file batches. Files do not appear in Google or 3rd party apps after being copied to the card. Reboot makes the files appear, bug is still present.
Reboot time is ok.
Rapid charging is working even faster.
That's it, the phone is usable.
For the battery test, I need at least 2 cycles to test the actual battery life.
Cycle one - stand-by time, only 23minutes of SOT and only using the phone to auto-update apps (4g, wi-fi b/g/n, bluetooth always online) gives a stand-by time of ~5 days which is as expected.
Cycle two - I got about aprox 6 hours of battery time with screen on and heavy use with (wi-fi on, 4f and bluetooth). What was heavy use? I made sure the screen won't turn off for more than 10 minutes, gaming on resource heavy games, maybe 1-2hrs of screen casting Youtube and overall maybe 15 minutes of phone calls.
Conclusion: while stand-by times stayed the same over the updates, since A10 was released the SOT decreased. Also the phone was almost at thermal throttle limit after ~1hour. That's not quite optimized yet and while in normal day to day use I won't use my phone for 6 hours straight, that's not a good SOT for 4kmAh battery.
-----------------Later edit
It seems like glance notification screen is gone, notifications now wake up the phone in lock screen. The old feature was better because you couldn't interact with the screen when notified, so it wouldn't pose a threat in the pocket. Now you can interact with the screen.
Glance screen is back after reboot, bug didn't appear in >1 week of use.

Never had this problem, but I would try a complete wipe and then reinstall the stock rom.
I can't see this update
How can they force a buggy app like Mi Community on every phone ??? The app sometimes crashes if I navigate too fast through it. Also, it asks for call logs in order to log in. I just don't trust xiaomi with these moves.
Edit: Also, Mi Community app notifications can't be disabled anymore from the notification channels.
Customize your pixel message is still present and cannot be dismissed.

Do double check cable and port support fast charging.
A data wipe solved the case.
In my experience battery life is worse.
+10% overnight decrease without doing nothing.
The first thing I noticed with 11.0.7 is that now when the phone is restarted, it doesn't pass the lock screen automatically.
In the last 11.0.x updates, when I restarted my phone, it started with the home screen instead of the lock screen while I had fingerprint activated.
+1 for 11.0.7
Still usable...
I've paused this update for several days because I did not want to ruin my Pie 9 phone, but one morning when I was using the phone as hotspot and the update was downloaded without my consent, so I rebooted and installed it.
Verdict after factory reset:
Android 10 gestures are a bit to much for my 3gb ram version. Pie 9 gestures work smooth like before. Forcing dark mode when in battery saving mode is hilarious when you have an IPS panel, because it uses MORE battery. Charging, battery drain and connection are about the same like on pie. Best thing is that the steps to adapt the volume on Bluetooth speakers are now far smaller the on pie 9, where it was either to loud or to silent.

Afet some days the lag reappear so Xiaomi didn't fix this and you need to restart the phone to work properly and after 4-5 days do the same is not very big deal but is annoying.
Bluetooth only hast SBC Codec. You can View curent Codec in Developer settings while playing. And after Bluetooth Connect to my Car the Bluetooth Volume ist verry Low.

bluetooth with my Uconnect Jeep Compass doesn't works!!!
Good news is that WiFi hotspot works for me now. It never worked on pie. I have no idea if it was working on older Q releases.
Bad news is that with WiFi or Bluetooth hotspot I cannot connect to adb. I'm fairly sure it worked in pie. Looks like I gotta take a wifi router or USB cable for dev on the road now.

My Ongoing Battle with the G7 Power's Atrocious RAM Management

Hey all, I've had my G7 Power for about 2 years and in the last year or so I have been super frustrated with the handling of background processes, etc.
It can hardly hold a background process. The two worst offenders for me are:
It will kill my music app almost instantly after pausing. This is exceedingly frustrating when an app mutes all other audio and it instantly kills my music.
It will kill my browser when I go to search for a file to upload (for example if I go to upload a PDF to a website I can't because the website has to reload when I come back from finding the file).
In an attempt to solve this I moved from stock to LOS 18.1 and rooted. This was perhaps marginally better, but still overall terrible.
The other day I used this Magisk module to enable the low_ram flag, as well as disabled the Google app (which despite always always hogging RAM also loved to close in the background), which actually kinda solved my problem. It is still not perfect, and I had to find a new weather app, but it's acceptable. HOWEVER, I learned that I cannot use messages for web with this flag on (really Google????), which is kind of a dealbreaker for me.
I happily used stock ROMs on my phones for the last few years and would rather not spend my time making my phone with 3GB of RAM work worse than my older phones that ran MM on 1GB just fine. Any suggestions? Should I go back to Android 9 and never update? I can't even remember if it was better but it seems like it might be.
