Wow, u mean to say that youve (potentially)achieved root for the Snapdragon galaxy s9+, running One UI? If this pans out I can honestly say you've made my week, possibly month! Lmk via PM/EMAIL If u need any experienced 'Rooters' to test this method out.... :good:
Edited to add: why does it say ROM OS 2.3 Gingerbread???
This would be the BEST THING EVER !!!!
Ppl are dumb? This as already ben posted on s9 forum, root can be made only flashing klabit kernel until now magisk cant root alone
So... how exactly did you do this? This is for the Snapdragon 845 version of the S9+, right?

Are you all realizing that's only for the SM-G9650, which indeed have a Snapdragon but it's unlockable?
explain
you made a thread that how to root smg9650 that's s9 plus snapdragon variant.....but theres no explanation and files that u used to root....plz tell step by step (try to make a YouTube video or post screenshots ) that how to root...coz many like me are very new to root also theres so much confusion because of so many model numbers....i wish if there was a pre-rooted rom that i could flash with Odin simply....i only can dream lol ....noone is explaining here ?

So you compiled a kernel and installed it? Thats all you need to do. There is code in the 9650 pie kernel that will panic the kernel if you try to run a binary under a uid <1000 that is on a filesystem that isnt system, odm, vendor, or root. Recompile a 100% stock kernel with CONFIG_RKP_NS_PROT off and it will work fine
What's the status on this?? It just kinda went silent. Is this an actual working way of rooting?

Hey Guys and Girls!
I own this device since quite a short time and i wanted to ask if any developer is willing to port the 3.4.x kernel to our S3 i9300, since it would bring us some big performance, stability and security enhancements since we are stuck at 3.0.101. We would really profit of this as its much more actual and better for coming upgrades. Please correct me if there are already some devs trying to port this or if anything else is wrong.
My previous device was/is the Samsung Galaxy S Plus and we got a 3.4.x kernel that runs very well and gave us some big improvements. We officially only got Android 2.3.6 with a 2.6.x kernel and our great devs managed to found a dev team and to bring us a fully working 3.0.x and 3.4.x kernel and Android 4.0 to latest 4.4.
I could provide some github repositories and some more additional info if needed, just PM me if you want to start on this. I can't code or compile that much but i could provide nearly everything you need in my opinion.
Greets,
markey97
Edit: I can try to port this on my own but i think that i most likely need YOUR help. Just to have that said
Edit2: I mean the international S3 i9300
Edit3: Changed title
Edit4: Base for the kernel is there! Developement will start slowly in the following days/weeks and source will be pushed to github in some time.
Edit5: I will port this on my own, if anyone wants/ is willing to help me, PM me. I will show you my detailed progress here and will maybe give an ETA, but if i don't, don't ask for it since i also have private live, and i will code and provide you with info when I'm free and when i want to.
Feel free to post feature requests/suggestions over here in the thread!!

are you talking about the S3 LTE phone? the one that has an exynos4 cpu? I'm definitely interested in this! I've been looking and trying to port over a 3.4.x+ kernel since the 3.0.101 is at EOL.

Thats exactly the way i think about it, we need a more actual kernel on our devices, not just a newer Android version to stay on the safe side, but i a also have to disappoint you, because i meant the i9300. But we could definitely together try to port it also to the i9305 which you meant, right?

yeah, sorry, in actually running the t0ltevzw (Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2). same processor, just clocked a tad higher. i looked at the sgs+ and saw it's running a Qualcomm cpu, so it may be harder to implement what the devs of the sgs+ put into affect, but I'm ready to learn and hack my way around.
Could anyone be so kind to enlighten me why this thread about "i9300" appeares in every note 2 forum on xda? each time i want to jump straight to i9300 it gets me first through all the note 2 forums. this is kind of silly.
am i the only one getting to see this thread in the note 2 forums?

No its not, i just don't have enough time to work on this till Christmas (school..arggh) but then i will try to port it in a time span of 2 weeks or so. Lol.
I'm searching for the source base and what I need to port it and then I will start when my holidays start. Yeeeah!:victory:

That looks promising, big thanks for that info :highfive:
If that's real that it is a 3.4 kernel, our work could get a lot more easier. Downloading the code atm and will check it and report it. And if its 3.4, I will directly start to (try to) "port" it over so that we can have 3.4 kernel by the end of the next week!

The devil kernel for the Note 2 variants has more of a "pseudo-" 3.4.x kernel. DerTeufel has implemented it, but not fully nor do I know if he's going to try to implement it fully.
The only thing that kills the Note 2 variants is that the s3 is OC'd at 1.2GHz while the Note 2 is OC'd at 1.6. but I'll have to check out the above file and see what I can do and possibly change to match the Note 2s.
Or if anyone knows of a device that has the exact same specs as the N710x and has a 3.4 kernel, PM me and I'll respond accordingly!
thanks!

Haha I know that, I'm working together with him
He ported over a whole bunch of "features/updates" from the original 3.4 Kernel and he/we mostlikely want(s) to fully implement everything.
That's no problem at all 'cause DerTeufel will/can easily adapt it to the corresponding device. And the S3's (i9300) standard clock speed is 1.4 GHz
Elsewhere I think all other components are (nearly) the same.

yeah, with the i9300 international version of the S3, I believe we've got the same CPU, maybe same RAM [but I'm thinking the ram on the i9300 is 1.5GB while on the Note 2 it's 2GB]. idk, I'm going to download the neo source code and check it out later since i'm about to leave to go to work.

which all together = no 3.4 love for the Note 2 damn you samsung! why can't you give us some love! lol.
needless to say though, I'm glad to see that DerTeufel has been able to pseudo-implement the 3.4 kernel into his source. I'm also grateful for our kernel love that awesome devs give us.
Hey,

Yes you can do it but , it was going to take long time , and you can also port it on any S3 lollipop rom and , if S6 firmware is marshmallow then use any marshmallow rom for S3 and try to port :good:
Hello, S6 or S7 lock screen can be ported to use on 9300?
Is "slide to unlock" case, the lower left corner to add "telephone" icon?
I know this is difficult, but could you tell me you will modify the s3 lock screen?

NO, you can't simply port the ROM. The damn S6 has, to begin with, a bigger screen resolution, so the UI would look weird AF. Second, the kernel can only be compiled by Samsung from THEIR own sources. And third, the most important aspect, i9300 has 1 GB of RAM. The closest device and the most suited would be the i9305.
CASE CLOSED. Please research before posting.

Yes I know everything about S6 and everybody knows here that it has bigger screen resolution and it also has big UI so we have to make it possible to fit in our S3 and second everyone knows that we have to do some changes in kernel also and S3 has 1 GB ram so I want to tell you that we are not trying to flash S6 rom on S3 okay so don't take any kind of tension because, everyone here test his rom perfectly before posting
And please forgive me if I have used bad words in this reply , After all we all are one community

Porting TouchWIz ROM's is possible but chances are nil unless the source ROM is from a Qualcomm Samsung device or it has a related Exynos device with same specs. Also due to the lack of proper source code and other info’s so porting can be a very hard job on Exynos, unlike Qualcomm devices it will be easy as cake due to some other Qualcomm devices shared the same RAM, processor and resolution and its dev-friendly nature.
What of the other exynos device s like the mega 2 ?
Sent from my SM-N910C using XDA-Developers mobile app
What is the difference between the Exynos 4412 and the 4415,all I know is they have a different clock speed but is that the only difference?
It's still possible to port mega 2 rom to note 2 but that would take a while or months to complete but it's still worth it tho.

I got it in my pocket in this very moment. (It's
a core G-386W. More or less a late model with better parts. 0.5gb of more RAM iirc
Really run smoothly in most conditions. Still love it. Only replaced it with a LG V20 (not letting go of that removable battery) for OS reason.
I still have mine works great for me I just wished I could update it so I can get some newer aps so at least I could connect my smart watch with it. the only thing I did was years ago installed rooted it and installed kitkat ( I think it was back in 2014) other then that haven't done anything but bought a new battery

Does Wi-Fi and cellular networks work? I installed CM12.1 on mine, everything works perfectly, except the Wi-Fi and calls/sms
I know I am almost 2 years late to the party but I will leave this for those who are willing to dive into the rabbit hole. I managed to build a "functional" lineage18.1 for the SM-g386W Afyonltecan and I am willing to share it as well as the source so that hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will take the lead or help to fix the bugs so that we can enjoy this piece of history for few more years. Don't get me wrong, it is far from perfect and so far only worked on my device. I also successfully build lineage 16.0 and twrp 3.7.0 but they are too buggy to be useful as is.
I bought SM-A525F/DS today and I am soooo worried about couple things:
1) Will SM-A525F 's custom ROM and kernels work on it?
2) I don't know how but my phone has 4 GB of RAM instead of 6 GB. But I did compare this phone with SM-A525F and they had no difference except RAM. Even their weight is same. Does it mean that it will have problems with ROMs or kernels or not?

I see that both you and ShaDisNX255 are senior developers but still, u sure? Afaik kernel is the part of the program which makes Software and OS to communicate with memory and if I use the device's kernel with 6GB on 4GB device gonna cause some problems.
Is it really true or false?

I don't see a reason for it to not work. Even on stock ROM Samsung uses the same kernel and ROM, so it should be absolutely fine.
If not, just hook me up in PM and we will figure it out.

Also, can I try kernel source from your repository and add it some patches and so on so I can use it in NetHunter? *And can you help me with compiling it? I worked with kernel 3.10 but not with 4.x or 5.x*
One more question: Let's say that OS got update. Will Pixel Experience also get update?
