Hey, since about a week ago when I did a factory reset, nova launcher keeps being in my recent apps from time to time. How can I get rid of that?

sudden problem after 12.1

I got 12.1 YOG4PAS1NO update last Sunday and had no probs till this afternoon. Suddenly phone is running really hot. I shut phone off to cool but gets hot again. Also launcher was freezing (Nova). So I went to stock launcher. When I open Apps in settings it freezes. I installed an app today so I uninstalled it, but still problems. (app was a currency exchange) Not sure what else to do.
thinking back i was installing a theme on Next Launcher, a launcher that i hadn't used but the launcher was installed, and the launcher seemed stuck on updating. i since uninstalled Next Launcher - but the problem continues.
Any advice would be appreciated

Stock Oreo and Nova

Nova has been either crashing with the pop up notification that it stopped or just showing the wallpaper with no apps or widgets since the Oreo update. When it just shows the wallpaper I can press where the app icons should show and they open. The developer suggested uninstalling Nova, clearing all app cache and reinstalling Nova. I did that and cleared the cache partition, but it's still crashing. Anyone else using Nova with Oreo seeing this?

Fine for me
Nova Launcher (Prime) is working well for me, USA U11 on the recent OTA version of Oreo. I use the clock widget only. Perhaps you can check each widget and see if there's one which isn't working for you,
Also working good for me!
I think Avast was the culprit. I noticed that it was running in the background when I was seeing the issue. I uninstalled it and haven't had a problem since so keeping my fingers crossed that it's solved.

Huawei Launcher wants to rule the day? Other launchers crashing.

This is on an MHA-L09. I would prefer to use Nova or the Google launcher, anything but the Huawei stock launcher, but am having issues.
Nova Prime is crashing, or so it is reported by the Huawei Launcher that Ithen replaces it, with a warning that I should uninstall the Nova Launcher. I cannot see a pattern to when Nova crashes.
I have a seperate issue with the Google Launcher. This sometimes finds itself caught in a desktop refresh loop - the desktop will go black, the background image will be re-drawn, then the icons and widgets, then it will blank again. While this loop is happening, I can draw down the notification shade and the screen will stay on, roll up the shade and the refresh loop continues.
So,
a). has anyone else found the same and has solutions, or
b). are there any crash logs that I can look at to see why this might be happening, for either Nova or Google Launchers?
This has happened over a few versions. I have also done a factory reset and the prblem continues. After the reset I did do a re-install from a back-up, so I may have just reloaded what ever is causing the problem, hence my keeness to find logs to help see where the problem may be.
I used to have this problem also but tried Microsoft launcher and I'm hooked.
Ever since, I haven't gone back to huawei or nova
Mine is a L29, USA version, no issues with Nova Prime here.
This issue is definitely caused by using your backup. If I recall correctly the crashing was a nova bug after an android update and has since been fixed, but if you use a backup created before the fix it will cause the same issue again. Simply do a clean nova install and ditch your backup and it will work like a charm again.

[Q] Pie and Nova Launcher - repeatedly prompted about default launcher?

Has anyone else been repeatedly prompted about which launcher you want to use, even after selecting "always"?
I've been getting this occasionally since upgrading to Pie on a non-rooted Pixel 1 running the latest Nova Launcher on the Play store.
I too have the same setup but have not ran into that issue. Have you tried clearing app info, uninstall and reboot phone and setup nova again?
I paid for nova prime.
I should have tried that first. Five days so far, and it hasn't happened again. :good:

Nova Launcher and Recent Button

Hi guys,
So I installed Nova Launcher, my to go launcher.
However, what I noticed is that if I disable Samsung One UI through Package Disabler, Nova Launcher wont do anything when Recents button is pressed . Home and Back buttons are working fine though.
The only way of getting Recents button work is to re-enable Samsung One UI but in this case it works on the background and consumes battery.
Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround? Thanks.
You will lose other things too, like notification badges, etc.
Not much you can do but leave one ui enabled.
You can disable background data, remove all widgets and such from one ui so there isn't background updates happening tho.

Same issue here... it's been bugging me for months now ... it's hard to use MFA apps as I can't switch to recent apps ..
is there any app I can install that will give me the ability to call recent apps some other way? This is my work phone .. if it was mine I would toss it in a blender and get a google phone these god forsaken carrier apps, work apps and phone providers apps make my blood boil!!!!
I almost miss the days of having two non working rooted phones....at least it was MY fault they were not working because I had control of what apps!!!

Just wanted to say.
I have been using Nova Prime launcher for many years.
Who knows how long 10...15 years maybe?
From my Note 2....3. 4. etc.. upwards!
Nova was and is, always my default launcher.
I have left Samsung launcher, to run in the background.
Never ever disabled it.
Never ever, have I found that Samsung launcher using excess /noticeably, battery .
or that it was an issue for me.
It's your choice, but why create problems for yourself.?
Good luck.
Also, try Nova gestures to bring up recent apps - see if it works using this way
Same issue, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel Launcher, Nova Prime, Android 12.
Nova's gestures don't call up the recent apps either
No way around it, even being rooted?
