I want to customize mahadi rom. I was using xposed on my stock before. The two important things i want are:
1. Add-Blocker for mahadi.
2. Android L Navigation buttons.
3. Good 2G and 3G switcher application.
If any of these features are available in Mahadi ROM please let me know how to enable it. Else i am looking for apps which can do this.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190753
2. Download a custom theme preferably themed Android L.. a example theme, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tung91.lconcept
3. Settings -> Battery -> battery saver mode -> gsm networks... power saving network mode.
Thanks for the information. What is the optimum settings I should Keep in Battery Saver Mode. I am a bit confused and less confident. If you can paste screen shots here it will be great help.

Post screenshots of what exactly? I personally don't use Battery Saver Mode.
Ok, Actually I switched Mahdi ROM only for reason that I want better battery backups and some customization. Can you help me with some battery saving techniques?

- Make sure your phone is deep sleeping. Use Wakelock Detector, BetterBatteryStats, Gsam and that there are not any partial wakelocks. If there are remove that app.
- Use a custom kernel such as Franco Kernel to underclock your maximum CPU frequency and GPU frequency.
- Disable sync for those applications you don't need in Google.
- Manually sync apps that you don't need notifications in, like twitter / facebook / instagram / etc.
The list goes on and on but those are the major ones. Wakelock being the most significant.

I use Greenify to hibernate all my apps.
I don't use any task killers.

Thanks wilzard for ur advice.
Use Greenify need root?
How about Clean Master?
Hi.
Seeing a lot about battery life and Settngs - Privacy - Privacy Guard.
Should I enable this by default to all newly installed apps? Is this recommended?
Thanks!
Not really, not all apps need to be addressed like that as not all apps are battery hogs. Privacy Guard isn't the best option for stopping rogue apps anyway, use Greenify instead.
Upd 08-29:
Update LKT to v1.9.3 (section 1)
Upd 08-07:
Switch off bluetooth when not in use, bluetooth scanning sucks a lot of juice (section 6)
Upd 07-20:
Systemize Greenify and exclude it from doze mode (section 3)
This is a guide to improve the battery endurance of our rooted XZ2 serie devices. It will provide useful tweaks/tips to do so on Pie but it also works on Oreo. It seems that Oreo Sony stock rom was far better optimized than Sony stock Pie in term of battery, so this guide will be particularly useful on Pie. Futher suggestions are welcome, don't hesitate.
Note that just after Pie upgrade, the device eats a lot of juice (AI algorithms work a lot to calibrate various things) for several days. But then, it seems that Pie remains far less efficient than Oreo in term of battery endurance (but actually it can depend on your device usage).
1. Install the magisk module LKT (Legendary Kernel Tweaks)
- Install the magisk module Busybox for android NDK,
- follow the instructions in the LKT thread,
- set the module on performance,
- after reboot, you can check LKT logs (/data/LKT.prop) to be sure that LKT tweaks have been applied as they should,
- use your device and enjoy a SoT gain of about +1.5 hrs,
- regularly check the LKT thread because this module is regularly uptated.
2. Install Lspeed app
Some Lspeed tweaks are redundant with those of LKT module, so just enable these tweaks:
- Global optimization: disable debugging, disable kernel panic, set animation scales to your taste,
- Battery: enable doze optimization (do not enable agressive doze unless you know what it implies...),
- CPU, LNET: don't enable anything (redundant with LKT),
- IO optmizations: enable partitions remount, disable I/O stats
- RAM optimizations: disable multitasking limitations
- Fstrim sheduler: 24h.
3. Install Greenify
- Systemize it (privapp) with the magisk module App Systemizer or instead install the magisk module Green2Priv (Upd 07/20)
- Exclude Greenify from doze (in settings - battery optimizations) (Upd 07/20)
- Lauch the app and go to settings to set the app parameters,
- freeze the apps you want (use Gsam battery monitor to detect the apps that undesirably eat battery).
4. Disable apps autostart
- Install All-In-One Toolbox app,
- Swipe down, in startup section: disable some apps autostart,
- In menu parameters: disable notifications or actions that you don't need.
5. Debloat the rom
- Some system apps, that we don't need, eat ram and battery but always do a twrp backup before debloating...
- Use @serajr debloat script,
- Alternatively, use Root ToolCase to debloat, this is a great app.
6. Disable bluetooth
- Switch off bluetooth when not in use, bluetooth scanning sucks a lot of juice...
That's all. Enjoy a much better battery life !!

It seems that media apps need to be optimized for Pie to not drain battery (it is explained elsewhere...)
I was shocked by the strong battery drain by the Sony Music app on Pie, so I've tested the Google Music app: it does not drain strong!!
So, the conclusion is obvious: the Sony Music app is not yet optimized for Pie. Use Google media apps for the moment, not the Sony ones!
Upd 03-18
And finally... Sony has optimized its music app (v9.4.3.A.0.3) for Pie, it's no longer a battery drainer, no longer need to use an alternative player
Better late than never...

Yes, they removed another feature.
Last time it was the ability to play songs in a home network.
Now they removed the feature to transfer or listening to playlists on android wear devices. :silly:

I'm sure you can find an alternative player doing that.
But yes, it's not great to lose some features...
Pls update to LKT v1.6:
- Responsiveness enhancements for EAS
- Fixed locks-creen stutter/lag issue
im on pure stock .14 firmware no root, no mods and im getting good batt life since .202 firmware. all i did was restrict android system in batt settings (no effect on any function) and greenify stupid system bloats like fb and fb services.

just go to settings batt. check the apps using the battery. if you see Android System tap it and restrict it under batt restriction. this helped me lower down its part on the graph. before doing this it usually takes 10% to 15% after restricting it only goes to 5% sometimes even lower.

Yes.
But it seems that causes delay to many notifications like agressive doze.

My e-mail and instagram notifications were delayed when I've tested this.
Update 04-09
Lspeed: optional - enable CPU optimization - balanced (it won't eat a lot of juice and provide a more reactive UI, lagless)
Don't forget to regularly update LKT and Lspeed.
From v1.7.1, performance mode of LKT module is performant enough, no need additional CPU optimization.
Upd 04-19:
From v1.8, performance mode of LKT module is great with great battery life
Upd 06-09
Various additional Lspeed performance tweaks to enable
Hi there, i'm completely new to root. I wonder is there any way to root xz2 without losing any functionality such as camera algorithm and x-reality? Or is there a way to restore the functions after unlock? I had a hard time finding an all-in-one tutorial..so could you please help me..Thank you so much

You would need to unlock on newest PIE firmware and test it. (Camera still works).
Or after unlocking downgrade to Oreo and apply the xperifix.
Or switch to my custom ROMs next month.
We've got RAW. (I assume at the end of this we'll get our next camera update by the sony engineers to raise the quality again).
