How to use 2 WhatsApp accounts in a Dual SIM phone? - Android General

If you have a dual SIM phone, you can use the different SIM cards to make calls using separate numbers; and send text messages using different numbers. But did you know that you can set up two WhatsApp accounts and use them on the same phone? If you ever wondered how to install two WhatsApp accounts on a phone, then you've come to the right place.
There are some different ways of doing it; and some phone manufacturers offer this as a built-in feature. In other cases, you will have to resort to third-party applications; but it's actually quite easy to run two WhatsApp accounts on an Android phone. Sorry, iPhone users, with you do not apply the steps to explain.
Obviously, this method of running two WhatsApp accounts on a phone requires a dual SIM phone: WhatsApp uses the phone number as its identity and detects it through a text message or call; so it has to be a phone with two SIM cards. However, if you have a dual SIM phone, then the next step should be to verify your configuration, because it is quite possible that the manufacturer has already created dual WhatsApp configurations.
Many Chinese manufacturers allow you to create application clones, which can then be used with a dual SIM configuration. For example, in the EMUI mask of Honor, the function is called App Twin. On Xiaomi phones, it's called Dual Apps. Vivo calls it Clone App; while Oppo calls it Clone application.
The way in which each of these companies has configured it varies a little; so you will want to consult specific information for your phone. But first we have listed the steps for some of the popular brands. In case your phone does not support this function, there is one more solution you can try, listed at the end.
But the most important thing is that if you have one of these phones, then the steps you must follow are incredibly simple; and they are also very similar in the three manufacturers; so we have brought them together in one place. In all three cases, you'll start installing WhatsApp on your phone through Google Play. After that, you can clone the application in the phone configuration.
Step by Step
These are the detailed steps to run two WhatsApp accounts on your Xiaomi phone, but it is very similar for the other two as well:
After you have installed WhatsApp, go to Settings.
Touch Dual applications. In Honor phones this is called App Twin, and in the Oppo it's Clone application.
You will see a list of applications that can work with the function and alternate between them. Activate the option to clone any application.
That's it, you're finished. Check if your manufacturer supports the cloning of applications as well; and if so, then these steps should work to get a second copy of WhatsApp on your phone. It's a bit different on a Live phone, so we'll explain it first; and then we'll talk about how to set up the second WhatsApp.
How to run two WhatsApp accounts on a Vivo phone?
The steps for Vivo are very similar to other brands, but slightly different. To clone WhatsApp on a Vivo phone (we tested this on a Vivo V5s), simply follow these steps:
1、Go to Settings.
2、Scroll down to find Application Clone and touch it.
3、Now, toggle the switch to enable Show the Clone button.
4、Then, install WhatsApp on your phone through Google Play.
5、Press and hold on any icon of the application. You will see a small "x" to remove applications; but some, like WhatsApp, will also have a small "+" symbol.
6、Touch "+" to clone WhatsApp on your phone.
Okay, then at this point, you should have two copies of WhatsApp on your phone. This is what you have to do next.
Setting up WhatsApp Dual
Setting up your second WhatsApp account is extremely simple; just like setting the first one. In case you have doubts, these are the detailed steps:
1、Start the second WhatsApp.
2、On the next page, touch Accept and Continue.
3、Next, you can grant access to files and contacts to this copy of WhatsApp. To do this, click Continue and follow the instructions on the screen; or touching No now for now.
4、Now, you must verify your phone number. This is the crucial part: remember that you have to be the second phone number of the SIM card. If you enter your main number, you are simply changing WhatsApp access from one application to the next.
5、Once you have entered your number, touch Next; then confirm the number by touching OK.
6、WhatsApp will then send a verification code to verify the number, which will be read automatically if you have granted permissions. Otherwise, simply write the verification number and you'll be ready. In case you do not receive the SMS, you can also press the Call button on the screen to get a verification phone call.
That's it, now you have two versions of WhatsApp running on your phone. You can send and receive messages using both numbers; so it is useful if you want to separate your personal use from your professional use, for example.
You can also use the steps indicated above to install multiple copies of other applications. Obviously, if you want two Twitter applications or two of Facebook on your phone, for personal use and a commercial account, for example, that is easy to do by following the same steps, except that you clone those applications instead of WhatsApp.
What if your phone does not support application cloning?
If your phone does not support the cloning of applications, there are still a couple of ways to continue and install a second copy of WhatsApp. You will still need a dual SIM phone to send and receive messages from two accounts. There are some popular methods that you will find online; and the one we thought was better is an application called Dual Space
As its name suggests, this application creates a dual "space" where you can install applications; which allows you to clone different applications. These are the steps to use this application:
Dual Space app
First you must install Dual Space from Google Play. Once you start the application, it will immediately take you to a Clone Applications page.
Select all the applications that you wish to clone and touch the Add to dual space button.
Then, they will take you to Dual Space, where the application runs in a virtual installation on your phone.
Now, continue configuring WhatsApp as described above.
That's it, you can use WhatsApp and other applications by accessing them through the Dual Space application. The application is free but with advertising. Again, this can also be used for applications like Facebook.
Another method you will find in many sites is to install an application called GBWhatsApp, but this involves installing the application through APK, which has a small element of risk involved. In addition to that, it is only useful for a single scenario, which runs dual WhatsApp; so we believe that using Dual Space is a better option.
That's all about it. Now you can start using two WhatsApp accounts at the same time.

Hello,
Otherwise many current phones have now the "cloned app" functionality....

Use GB whatsapp or Dual Space app
If you wanna use 2 different whatsapp on your mobile then use GB whatsapp or Dual Spece app on your mobile...
If you use Dual Spece app then you could upto 5 whatsapp account use it..

Whatsapp data backup with 1 year storage capability

I need a software which can provide the following services:
1. Store backup data of at least past 1 year of whatsapp.
2. Formatting of entire whatapp in a couple of minutes on my phone Samsung Galaxy Note 4
3. Better usage of sending messages without any freezing issue.
If any 1 can provide me these 3 options in a software I would be really grateful and I am even ready to make the payment if some 1 has already made any software as such and I can purchase it after seeing. Note: I don't want to root my phone. I want to use this software without rooting my phone. So suggest me only if it doesn't need rooting
WhatsApp users on Android will soon be able to backup their messages, images and videos on Google Drive. This feature was in testing for months and was only available on certain WhatsApp versions. Just yesterday, Google announced the integration of WhatsApp with its cloud storage service on Google Drive Blog.
I had a moment of doubt whether I'm on the wrong page of the forum when reading OP and the above reply. Not sure if it differs from country to country, but Google Drive backup for Whatsapp has been available for over a year, and as far as I've noticed, it does not occupy your default Google Drive storage capacities and does not have a said limit for media files. For messages, Whatsapp backups always contain the entirety of your message history, no matter since how many years ago. They exist both on your local backup (/sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases) and Google Drive backup, if enabled.
As suggested by @damponting44, there was a Google Drive Blog post about it, but instead of yesterday, it was posted on October 7 2015.
To "format" Whatsapp, I assume you mean clearing of data completely. You can already accomplish this on Android and an app is unnecessary.
To reset the app's data, go to the Settings app of your phone -> Apps menu -> Find Whatsapp -> Press Clear Data and confirm.
To clear other data such as voice, media and local backups, use a File Manager and delete the entire /Whatsapp/ folder.
Lag or freezing issues rely on the app itself and the capabilities of your phone. Using one app over another usually only results in increased resource usage and would not solve the mentioned problem. That usage scenario is often only selected for feature / customisation enhancements, such as bots or themes. It's best to check if you have issues in your system, if there are too many background apps occupying RAM, etc. to make your foreground app, i.e. Whatsapp run smoother.
An app is unnecessary for all 3 requests you brought up, and it is unlikely one would be developed for those purposes.

Is it possible to run two or more WhatsApp app instances on my phone?

As we know, more and more mobile phones support dual sim cards.
I am interested that I could run two or more instances of WhatsApp Messenger with respective accounts, one for private use while another one for business or general use.
Thank you in advance.

How to identify the contacts who view my statues secretly
Hello Great developers,
I am using Whatsapp+ v6.85 moded by Abo2Sadam.
I am wondering if there is a way to know the contacts who viewed my status who did uncheck the Read Recipient in privacy settings?
Is there a way to identify them? Kindly note that I am not intending to prevent them from viewing my statues, but it's something personal and I need to know if this someone is viewing my statues secretly.

Contacts app missing features on S9/S9+ compared to older phones

On all my previous devices, from an Android 4 tablet to a Samsung Galaxy S6, the Contacts app had a neat feature that allowed you to choose which contacts to display (in Contacts, Phone, and make accessible to any other app with access to contacts list).
You could choose between:
all contacts
contacts from a specific account (choose from Phone, SIM, gmail account, etc)
custom list (checklist from multiple accounts and groups defined within each account)
S9/S9+ Contacts app simply shows you all contacts from all accounts, with no option to narrow down the selection.
In the Contacts app (only) you can have it display contacts from one account, or one group from an account.
However all apps that have access to contacts see and use all contacts from all accounts, regardless. That includes Phone app, ofcourse (the only option in Phone is to display all or contacts with phone nr. only).
I had great use of that feature because I had it use only contacts from specific groups.
Now I have a lot of clutter.
Samsung official response was: that feature was intentionally removed from Contacts app.
I couldn't find many viable alternatives on Play store, I tried a few, mostly bloatware, apparently. Also, Google Contacts, while still having some sort of filtering builtin, can't seem to integrate it properly.
I am looking for a way to regain that level of filtering what contacts to use, without rooting the phone (I got it from work and could get into a lot of trouble if I root it).
Thank you.
Its still there if this what you mean

No, that is not it.
That is only a display selection in Contacts app only. You can choose to display one account or one group, but no multiple selection of accounts/groups.
Furthermore, this has no effect on the contacts exported to all apps, including Phone. Phone will still show you the entire list of contacts, regardless of what you are looking at in Contacts app.
The following were taken from a Huawei P7 I still have, they illustrate what I also had in older and newer (at least S6):
Open contacts app (or via Phone->contacts).
Open menu
Choose "Contacts to display".
S9 contacts only allow you to limit displayed contacts to those with phone number.
What is missing is the selection of a single account and customize (bottom)
In this screen I selected one entire account (phone) and only one group from the gmail account:
Only these contacts will be visible (on Huawei P7, Samsung S6 and others) in Phone app, SMS app, etc.
Samsunt S9 shows all contacts from all accounts in Phone app, SMS app, etc.
So how to re add this option on new S9 10 ? someone found a solution ?

Running multiple instances of whatsapp and backing them up

Hello all. I currently use a POCO F2 Pro, which has the cloning feature allowing me to run two instances of whatsapp at the same time (two different phone numbers) and backing them up to two different google drives.
Now I just bought a Nubia Redmagic 8 PRO that, to my disbelief, does NOT feature a cloning app. I know there are several alternatives (parallel spaces, app cloner, dual space...) but as far as I know none of these allow to use GPlay services and hence the backup option is not available.
Do you have any hints on how I could do to pass my old data from the secondary WhatsApp to my new phone? And, in general, how will I be able to cloud backup data from it?
Thanks in advance.
