Managed to get 4k EIS to work on 3GB Note 5 Pro China/Global! - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

I bought this phone because of Chris from Tech tablet showing how smooth it was on 4k. Chris was using the China version of the phone. However after buying the phone, I could NEVER get 4k EIS to work because the Open camera app keeps crashing, so I gave up. Today, after doing some research, I looked at youtube videos showing Note 5 Pro 4k EIS were from July 2018 and earlier. Those Indians were using the global version of the phone. That made me wonder if it is related to firmware.
Turns out, you need to be on MIUI 9. The camera settings were changed on MIUI 10 so 4k EIS stopped working.
Here are the steps to make it work:
1) Downgrade/upgrade to 9.5.7.0 Global firmware. It is the last build of MIUI 9 without antirollback. https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/index-everything-anti-roll-t3816219
2) Download open camera. do not enable hal 3 in build.prop.
3) Choose 4k under video settings, 40mbps bit rate ( higher will cause apl to crash because it only supports 42mbps), h264 format (HEVC Doesnt work). set 24fps. any faster sd636 unable to stabilize
4) Under more camera controls, Use Storage access framework
Now if you record video, wait 2-3 seconds lag before it starts recording. 4k EIS works! Since cropping from 12MP to 8MP there is less area compared to 2MP for 1080p videos, the stabilization is not as great compared to fullHD stabilization

Slow motion/timelapse video?

Hiya - Blu has confirmed for us that slow motion is not a supported video mode. Even downloading the Google Camera app, which normally supports slowmo (even on phones as old as the Samsung Note 2) won't enable it.
Is there any way to get around this and take high-frame-rate video with the Blu Pure XL? It's capable of 4k-ish video, surely it's capable of 60+ FPS at 720P!

My Youtube no longer have the 4k Option after Oreo update. is this normal ?

Hi.
so after the update, I no longer have the 4k viewing option. only full HD. is this normal ?
How do I get it back ?
Thanks
4k is still there. It is removed, however, for 4k HDR content due to an issue with the app.
For normal non HDR videos 4K is still there. But videos with HDR is now limited to 1080p due to performance issues with pretty much every device: http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/11/04/hdr-youtube-app-now-maxes-1080p/
Shame they don't offer an option to just watch the non-HDR version instead.

1080p Full HD @ 60fps video recording in MIUI 10

So i tried miui 10 stable and dev, however [email protected] is weird. One video is recorded in 20fps, second in 60fps, then third in 30fps. All recorded under same light conditions.
Can anyone test this and post results?
For me it seems 60fps works fine, but its way darker in low light than in 30 fps mode. Using open camera lighting is normal.

Download Media info app from Play Store and check if the recorded video is really 60fps. When I tried MIUI beta build last time, the 60fps seemed to work fine but then I checked and it was 30fps actually, it was just higher bitrate, something is messed up in the camera libs. It's 2018 and we can't have a proper 60fps video, great work Xiaomi, great.

4K HDR Video Without Root! Exynos only

This mod is possibly only for the S7 Exynos. I don't have access to a Snapdragon S7, but the camera profile I worked form states that it only works on the Exynos version...
Hey hey S7 Users! Ever since getting my hands on an S7 Edge last year I’ve drooled over the Zero Camera Mod 4K HDR capability. I used to root my handsets the second I received them, but honestly, these days I can’t be bothered.
Anywho, long story short, I was recently hunting for S7 Mods and stumbled upon the Snap Camera 4K 60fps mod. It works brilliantly, btw! While messing around with the profile settings within Snap Camera I found I was able to enable HDR video recording at 4K 30fps!!!
I’ve included a link to a quick comparison video I made comparing 4K video shot using the stock Samsung camera app and 4K HDR video shot using the “Snap Camera HDR” app from the PlayStore with a custom profile.
I’ve also included links to the original video I found explaining the Snap Camera 4K 60fps mod, and a link to my custom profile, which is based on the 60fps mod profile.
To load the profile just download the “snap_settings.bin” and place it in the root of your storage. Load up Snap Camera and head to the “Other” menu in settings. Select “Load Settings” and enjoy 4K HDR!

Can you upload the file again? The link has expired again, or at least send it to me some how, i couldn't get the file anywhere.
any chance you could re upload the settings file? the link is dead.

Question Video Encode/Decode Problem, Hardware or Software?

Hi, I have a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G (codename: VEUX, verified using adb) Indonesia version (model: 2201116SG). Right now I'm using Evolution X ver 7.3 (build Nov 20, 2022). Before, I'm using stock MIUI Global 13.0.2.0 (RKCIDXM). I posted this thread to present my findings about this phone, and hopefully find a fix.
I was trying to find a suitable GCam port for this phone, but ONLY Arnova8G2's ver 8.4.300 GCam port that works in this phone. All other ports will crash or show black screen when using Video recording mode. However, photo mode works just fine in all GCam ports. I can even add auxiliary cameras and enable the tele/macro and ultrawide lens. The problem reappears, however, when I enable aux cam in Arnova8G2's GCam port. The app keeps crashing when I switch to video mode, and I need to clear app data and cache to get it working again.
I've also installed Open Camera by Mark Harman, and tried to record 1920x1080 video, but it says "Failed to record video". The highest resolution I can get is 1600x900. Lowering the FPS didn't help, It says "Sorry, frame rate not supported on your device".
Playing 1920x1080 videos (whether 30 or 60fps) worked just fine using Google Photos. If the resolution is higher than that, then Google Photos and any media player will refuse to play it. The highest video resolution I can play is 1080x2040, even a 1080x2400 video (same resolution as the display) results in the same error.
I haven't tried recording and playing 1080p videos back in stock MIUI, but judging from the Live Wallpaper Bug Thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/dynamic-wallpaper-mi-video-bugs.4439695/), the problem might persist in stock ROM.
I know that the Snapdragon 695 SoC has a hardware limitation of recording video up to [email protected] But, this thing was like "GIVE ME A VIDEO THAT IS EXACTLY 1080x2040, OR ELSE. AND DON'T EVEN THINK TO RECORD AT 1080p!!". I still have my old Redmi S2 (codename: YSL), and just for reference, I tried installing one of the GCam port file that I've used in this phone. Guess what, the Arnova8G2 version didn't work, but other GCam port works perfectly. I installed BSG 8.1 GV2b in Redmi S2, and managed to record [email protected], although it crashed in like 3 seconds. Playing a 1920x1080 30fps video (a much higher resolution than the 720p display that the Redmi S2 has) using Google Photos also works, although as expected, the video is very choppy.
So, In conclusion, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is picky about what video to play and record. This might be a hardware problem, because it persist even in different ROMs. If this really is a hardware problem, then It's kinda suck, 'cause I need to record important video occasionally. Oh well, I'll need to use other tricks just for recording video then. I wanna hear what you guys thought about this though.
We been struggling with this since this phone came out, but i been playing videos up to 4k on mx player without a problem
still no solution to record 4k tho
Is a hardware limitation from the snapdragon processor. There is no way of make 4K recording in this device.
4K playback is fine.
Aw bummer. Welp, on the bright side, I've finally managed to find a perfect GCam, It's BSG's GCam MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix_MGC. Everything works, including video recording up to [email protected], front camera works, slow motion, etc.
